He spotted one, an orange one, and tried his best to chase it down.
It was too fast for him, too zig-zaggy.
It was clearly Mayaa, trying to play.
"No, no, come back here. We need to get out of this place." Really. They needed to leave before there was no way out at all. ...Not that he knew how to leave. He'd worry about that later.

Mayaa would have stayed here forever if she could, but at one point she did finally realize that she had indeed lost Draven in her little endeavour.
"Sorry little ones, I'd love to play but I need to find Draven. We'll play again soon, don't be sad!"
Of course, the kushis had no idea what she was saying, and wee probably jus happy to be free from her grasp.

Draven was still chasing the orange kushi. He had a good feeling about it. He really, really did.
But then it ran under the hedge and Draven lost it.
"Nooooo!"

He poked at the hedge some more, and a little kushi poked it's nose out.
Draven moved like lightning and grabbed the little guy. "Hold still, okay! I'm doing this to help."
He kissed the wriggling little critter on the head... and then it bit his thumb. "Ow! Hey!" His first reaction had been to drop the offending creature, and his second was to flail. Draven dove after the creature, but it ran out of reach.
He must have kissed it wrong.
With a sigh, he continued down the path. "Mayaa! Mayaa!
Black feathers lay on the ground in his wake. This kushi hunting was hard work.
2 he got 2 so far yay : D

Rubbing at his thumb, Draven did his best to chase after the kushi, but alas, it was too fast for him. But a cute little spotted one was not. No sir. Draven scooped it up, gently mind you, and this time he gave it a kiss on it's cheek. Nothing happened. "I..don't suppose you're a real little critter, are you?" kushis kissed: 3 [A.V.] <333 You can tag if you want, or I can roll more in the morningggggg. /sleep time now for me though <33

The kushi blinked at him. It puffed up real big and blinked again.
And then it did a backwards somersault out of his hands. With all the grace of a rodent it landed in the grass and scurried away.
"No wait!"
Draven didn't know what to make of any of this.

Kiss the kushi.
The voices were still whispering. But so far, nothing had happened.
"Are you sure I'm supposed to kiss them?"
Maybe there was another way. Maybe no one had been turned into kushi. Maybe....
"Mayaa! Where are you?"

A noise in the brush caught his attention.
A wide eyed little orange kushi poked it's face out and stared at him.
"Mayaa?"
The kushi blinked, sneezed, and then stared at Draven for a long, long moment. Then it turned and ran away.
Draven dove after it.

All he caught was a fistful of hedge and a mouthful of leaves.

Draven climbed back to his feet. "Mayaa! Maaa~yaaa!"
The kushi didn't reappear.
Draven sighed and moved a little farther down the path. Maybe there was a way around that part of hedge--
He nearly stepped on the kushi. "Oh, hey!" Scooping it up, Draven placed a kiss on right on it's nose, before it could bit him or run away.
Nothing happened.

"I don't get it," he said as the kushi freaked out and jumped from his hand.
The voices SAID to kiss the kushi. Maybe...maybe his heart wasn't in it? Or maybe they were the wrong kushi? He wasn't kissing them wrong...was he?

Draven sighed and continued to hunt for kushi.
He'd just have to keep trying. That's what the voices said he should do.
