As they continued on another wild Vullaby appeared and swooped down to attack. Sending out Florges to defeat it Simon was hoping for more experience. Vullaby's evolved for was an intense Pokemon however Simon already had one, having caught it on the Island during a period of down time after playing some games. Continuing down the path Simon noticed some odd colored crystals in the wall. After spending so much time in the mines looking for fossils and other items he knew these were special. Entering the next floor Simon was attacked by another wild Vullaby. Sending Florges out he would get his fairy Pokemon to level seventy then move to one of the others in order to get them to that level where he would feel safe battling with them. Further on Simon was surprised by a wild Mienfoo. Having used the Odd Incense back on the Islands Simon already had one but it was an interesting Pokemon to find at the first stage in the wild. Usually this Pokemon evolved around this time to the much stronger fighter. Still Florges would be the best Pokemon to use so she came out ready to fight.

As if preparing for Drayden's battle Simon was now facing a Dragon Trainer. The young man was a bit cocky since dragon typing wasn't really weak to anything. Of course that was until fairy type was discovered but this kid wasn't from Kalos and thought Florges was just a grass type Pokemon. That was fine, he'd show him the power of his fairy Pokemon.

The next Pokemon was a familiar one as Simon had one on his team, Druddigon roared and did attacks other than dragon ones which did real damage. Attempting another dragon attack thinking the first one missed it didn't hurt Florges at all, didn't even bother her. Making sure her bow was straight Florges launched into her own attack.

The next Pokemon was the final form of Axew, "Haxorus the axe jaw Pokemon. They are kind but can be relentless when defending territory. They challenge foes with tusks that can cut steel." Having seen the second form in this battle and in Victory Road itself Simon thought he would be ready however this Pokemon was pretty impressive.

After battling the wild fighting Pokemon Simon found himself up against a black belt trainer named James. James wore a first place pendant around his neck which looked like a custom made Mega Bracelet so Simon was ready for that. Until then Florges was up against, "Machamp the superpower Pokemon. Next up was "Hitmontop the handstand Pokemon. Hitmontop spins on its head at high speed, all the while delivering kicks. This technique is a remarkable mix of both offense and defenses at the same time. The Pokemon travels faster spinning than it does walking." It was another form Tyrogue could have taken when he evolved. No mega evolution for this one though so he needed to remain vigilant.
