He said stepping over his research notes to get to his main deck which looked no better then his assistance's.
"Hello my names Elm, Professor Elm, and you most be here for a beginners pokemon correct ? Your a little old to beginning your travels now, BUT no matter." He held out a free hand offering the young man a hand shack but in doing so his glasses slumped back down the bridge of his noes. "We offer the Johto starter pokemon. Chikorita a grass type, Cyndaquil a fire type, and Totodile a water type."

Flashing a large smile at the professor he smiled with his eyes closed and waved before shaking his hand with a firm confidence, “I apologize for not being younger it was difficult for us to maneuver through the clutter, I left home when I was ten I promise.” That was part of his underhanded wit, he said it with such a happy tone that the insult would almost go unnoticed if the professor wasn’t looking for it. It was much less a way to bounce back the comment of him being old than to be hostile. He was well aware he was older than most new trainers but he didn’t let that bother him too badly as he knew that this was his first chance to begin his official journey.
Like most regions the professor offered him a fire, a water, and a grass type. He had no real pension either way, so haphazardly pointed at a ball on the machine in the center of the room, the ball containing the fire Pokemon Cyndaquil. It was a random selection because he would bring out the most of whichever Pokemon he wound up with. “I’ll take that one if you don’t mind,” he looked over at the aide and winked at her while he spoke to the professor, “I’m sure I can make whatever one is in there great, that is my job as a trainer after all.”

Holy crap dude XD i read that post and thought to myself "this guys going to be fun to screw with during gym battles!" Is Daichi you'ed say a good guy or bad guy ?
The witty comment wasn't lost on the professor. In fact it sparked a sort of short term rivalry in him with the boy. He wasn't to old to come up with a snappy come back of his own. "Well hopefully you can find your way back out before you turn twenty ?" He said smiling as the assistant retrieved the Poke'Ball containing the fire type Cyndaquil.
Ducking behind his desk to collect a PokeDex, new trainer ID and starting supply's of which he set atop the desk at the same time the assistant handed the boy his pokemon. "So whats your name ? Your not so senile you've forgotten it have you ?" He asked without a hint of sarcasm to his voice. He even kept a rock solid expression as if he was always this rough on the word play.
It looked like Daichi had lit a fire under the professor, he seemed to snap into a much more defensive role, which wasn’t a surprise. He was surprised that the professor attempted to take a jab at him but at the same time he was sure that the kids who came through here weren’t quite as clever, nonetheless he smiled and chuckled along with the professors hackneyed joke. Taking the ball from the assistant and the gear and Pokedex from the desk he pocketed the items and spoke again, “Ah I knew I forgot something, Tōru Daichi. I apologize for the lack of introduction, I was enamored by your assistant.” Looking towards her again he caught her blushing once more, he wasn’t attracted to her on any deep level or anything he just enjoyed casually flirting, I guess it was a way to remind someone they matter, despite his usually blasé and borderline repulsive attitude he was more interested in lifting people up than tearing them down.
Placing the shrunken ball on the inside of his jacket he turned and began to walk away, but snapped before he left as if he’d forgotten something, “Thank you for the Pokemon, I’m not trying to be your mother or anything, but you should tidy this place up a little, and your Poliwag paper is on that desk over there.” Turning his upper body to point at a desk off to the side he had noticed the paper while the professor was talking, just a simple study of the room showed off his ability to observe on the fly. Placing one hand in his pocket he walked out with a careless wave, “have a good day professor, and keep that assistant happy.”
It was no doubt odd to have someone of Daichi's caliber and character come through, but unfortunately he couldn't spend all day chit chatting. The thrill of meeting other strong trainers rushed into him and he was actually eager to begin his journey.

-Tough to say, I suppose it all depends on how you see him. He's a skilled trainer who looks out for the well being of his Pokemon and others around him. But he has an antagonistic nature and callous attitude towards most peoples feelings. I would say he has good intentions but probably comes off villainesque. Tough love.-

Olivia sat patiently during the train ride from Kanto to Johto, the train's natural motions rocking her back and forth, with her arms folded neatly in her lap. She was a patient young woman, wasn't she? Yes, she was. Here she was, the picture of reverence, with her eyes trained on the adjacent window so as to watch the landscape that swept by. Yes, peace, serenity, tranquility, the entire image would've been pulled off flawlessly if it weren't for the fact that her left boot tapped repeatedly on the car's floorboards. Luckily, there was no one inside the car with her to question her, for this she was grateful for.
She'd been deployed into Johto with the task of discovering more about Team Rocket, all while under the guise of a trainer, it was simple enough, so why was her heart pounding in her chest? Perhaps because this was her first real assignment, which made enough sense. Olivia would just have to remember to keep whatever emotions she felt under tight wraps, no need to raise any suspicions.
The train slowed to a stop and the automatic doors slide open, a voice from the intercom chiming in to alert its passengers that they'd arrived at its destination, New Bark Town. With a quiet grunt the young woman pushed herself to her feet, hands fluttering down to brush at the hem of her pants before she slipped out of the train and made a beeline for the laboratory. It was easy enough to find, it was, after all, the largest building in the small town. Pushing open the door she entered, her boots clomping against the floor to announce her entrance. Not wanting to dawdle she approached the nearest aide, one hand moving to rest comfortably on her hip. "Hi there!" she chirped, tone amicable. "Would you be a dear and point me in the direction of Professor Elm? I'd like to claim a starter from him."

It didn't take long for the aide to find Elm, and soon, the professor ambled in to greet the fresh face. "Hello there! I'm Elm- uh, Professor Elm. My aide told me you are interested in picking up a starter." he greeted the female a bit sheepishly. He then motioned for her to follow him to the back of the lab. "Right this way, then. May I have your name, Miss? oh- and also, your starter preference. I can register your pokedex to you real quick - as well as get you your starter." Elm told her, then picked up a fresh pokedex, prepared to get things registered for the new trainer. Luckily for him, he wouldn't have to frantically try to do both things at once - an aide was already on stand-by near the incubator.
While the aide went off to retrieve the Professor Olivia took the time to look over the building, her eyes sweeping over the many machines whose purpose she couldn't even begin to guess and nodded to herself, pleased; it wasn't everyday that she found herself in a state-of-the-art, government funded laboratory, might as well get her fill while she had the chance. Her head snapped back when a man spoke out, whatever stern expression that had begun to occupy her expression instantly relaxing into a soft smile. "A pleasure, Professor," she greeted the man with a firm nod, moving forward and farther into the lab once directed. She gave Elm a light scrutiny as they walked, her smile pulling into a smirk when she found the professor to have met her expectations, which she'd only gained after doing a thorough read-up on his person.
"Olive Miller," she introduced without missing a beat. She gained nothing from using her real name--well, it was 'nothing' if she ignored the fact that she wasn't exactly 'upholding honesty'-- and it was better, in the long run, to use a fake name; pokedex's could be stolen, and the last thing she needed was anything that could track back to who she really was. Besides! It wasn't a complete lie, her brother did call her 'Olive'. So there, her conscience was clear. "And I'd like a Cyndaquil, if that isn't too much trouble."

Professor Elm was pleased that Olive was a nice young lady. Or, at least, she wasn't here to steal from him, as it seemed. He registered Olive Miller to the Pokedex, gathering up some potions and pokeballs as well. "Oh! Cyndaquil! That's a spectacular choice! It certainly seems to be a favorite, too." Elm commented. His Aide retrieved a Cyndaquil, meeting the professor in front of Olive. "Here you go, Ms Miller!" he smiled, handing over the stuff.
"Is it now?" Olivia delivered her question with a tip of his head, her hand opening up to accept the few bonuses that came with her pokemon. She'd expected the Pokedex and pokemon, those were required, but she was pleasantly surprised at the few potions and pokeballs she was handed along with her necessities. That certainly saved her time, and money, that would've been spent in the Pokemart. "Thanks for the items, Prof," she saluted the man lightly before she turned on her heels, refraining from releasing her newly obtained Cyndaquil until she'd gotten outside. "Have a good day!"

Ivan walked into the lab with two of his Pokemon out of there Poke Balls. The first was his Banette, he planned on using its Ghost Typing to his advantage while he distracted the Professor, so that it could search the place for documents on his target. The second was a Houndoom, a little force and fear never hurt in the event that he wasn't getting anywhere. He paid no mind to the three starter Pokemon playing in the corner, Ivan could care less about them there was one reason he was here. To find Natalia Jones. He pushed himself further untill he was in what appeared to be Professor Elm's private office's closed door. "Banette, we are looking for any information on Natalia, go, search now" the Ghost Type Pokemon gave a chuckled snicker and disappeared. "Houndoom, we just need to impose a little fear" the Dark Type growled in approval. Ivan opened the door and found the Professor deep in some sort of study. "Elm I presume? " he already knew the answer " I am doing some research and I need to locate a certainTrainer" he paused, he still needed to try and keep his intentions quite for the time being. "She is a colleague of mine and has been doing her own research her in the Johto region. Her name is Natalia Jones, I'm sure she has stopped by to register here no?" the less the Professor knew about his true intentions the better. His Houndoom was prepared and ready just incase his Trainer gave a command. It held the same mindset, no need to show anymore force than needed and saw no need for it now.

Elm was indeed quite engrossed in his work, writing out several reports to file away while he had the spare time. It was just his luck, or rather lack thereof, that this was precisely the moment a trainer finally walked through his doors. Elm tried not to let it show how disappointed he was to be torn away from his work. After all, he wanted to encourage young new trainers and assist in providing the supplies they needed to start their journey, so Elm looked up with the best smile he could muster when the boy approached him and correctly assumed who he was aloud. "Why yes, that would be me." He confirmed, looking quite tired. It didn't help that the man was looking for a colleague of his rather than a starter. "Oh... You... Aren't here to register?" He seemed a bit disappointed at the news, though glancing to the houndoom at his side, he supposed the boy was probably already registered. He let out a bit of a sigh, looking longingly back to the papers on his desk that he really wished he could get done in peace. "Um... Natalia Jones..." Elm repeated back dumbly, the name not really registering. "I don't recall the name no. Did she come by recently...?" He asked. "If you two were planning to meet here, it's possible she hasn't come by." He suggested, unable to help but try and multitask and fill out a few more of the forms he had been working on. "I could check the registrar if you'd like, but I don't think it would have any useful information for her whereabouts.... Just when she was officially registered." He mumbled as he scribbled on one of the sheets of paper.

He glared through his sunglasses, "No I'm not here to register, I'm just looking for this Trainer" he fumbled around in his bad to look for a photograph in his ever growing collection of faces. Finally he found the one he was looking for. "All I would need to know is if she's been through here" he handed the picture to the Professor "This is her here"
Ivan's Banette reappeared next to its Trainer coming up short-handed on its hunt. Nothing was found as far as it could locate and Ivan seemed to pick up on it based off of the solemn appearance.

Elm couldn't see the glare Ivan was giving him, blissfully unaware of what he was doing as he continued to work on his papers. Ivan insisted and confirmed that he wasn't here to register as a trainer, just looking for his companion. Elm couldn't help but wonder why they hadn't exchanged contact information or something. Wasn't that what all trainers did these days when making friends? Ivan dug around in his bag for something, and eventually a photo was stuck in the younger professors face. Elm sighed inwardly and set his pen down to take the photo and give it a look over. The girl in the picture was quite young, Elm guessed around 13 years old. Colleague huh? Elm gave Ivan a questionable glance, but then again, maybe that explained why they weren't in contact. Long lost friends, or something of the sort, so this was the most recent picture he had of her.
Elm gave the photo another glance over, adjusting his glasses. Now that he examined it father, the girl did vaguely look familiar. "Hm... She does look vaguely familiar.... But if I did see her, it wasn't recent." He explained, turning to his computer. "Natalia Jones you said yes...?" He muttered, typing the name into the registrar search. "It's not coming up." Elm reported with a frown. "I'm sorry, I really don't know what to tell you. I see a lot of faces come and go...." He asked, looking at the picture again. He didn't know what to tell the man, but something was bothering him, because he did feel like he had seen this face before. Possibly older, but...
Elm stared hard at the sharp eyes of the sad looking girl in the picture and blinked as a spark of a memory flashed through his mind. "Ah...." He spoke. "But... No, that couldn't be...." He dismissed the idea. That girl had bright blue eyes, this girl had brown. Though, then again, a lot of the younger kids seemed to be getting really into colored contacts these days.... But he didn't have the name Natalia Jones in his registrar, so unless the girl had lied about her name, which he didn't see any reason why she would... Elm shook his head. Often times, the simplest answer was always the correct one. "I'm sorry, but I really don't believe your friend has come around here. I wish you good luck in locating her though." He smiled tiredly, handing the picture over and went back to his work.

The Professor didn't seem to know who Natalia was even though he thought she looked familiar. "It's ok, with all the people that come in and out of here on a daily basis it would be a little much to expect you to remember just one person" the fact that Elm said she looked familiar was good enough for him. That ment her face showed some sort of relevance and odds are she had been here. Ivan slipped the photo back into his bag before starting to make for the door. "Very well, then I'm afraid I will take my leave" he turned around and began to exit the lab. He hated having to act and pretend but the last thing he needed was a bunch of local police after him because he decided to try and torture information out of the region's most prized professor.

It was sure a long trip from Olivine City to New Bark Town. Then again it wasn't like she can turn right at the lighthouse and the town would be right there. There wasn't also a straight path connecting the two towns. At least she didn't have to make this trip alone with her Houndour at her side. Houndour has been with her.... two years now? Man time sure flies by. It seemed like only yesterday that it was only yesterday that Houndour's previous owner was trying to find a home for it. Since they had to move another city and their new apartment didn't allow fire type pokemon. So Seras took the guy on his offer and took Houndour into her care. Things weren't as smooth as they were now between them. At first the pokemon just ignored everything she said and growled at her when she got too close. Though after a few months, Houndour gradually warmed up to her and EVENTUALLY they have became pals.
Speaking of home, she was a bit surprised that quite a few people made a fuss when they found out she was leaving for her journey. Guess they were going to miss their handy repair nearly-everything gal. One of her regular customers gave her some ultraballs. While another person gave her some of cheri berries from their garden. It was strange to admit that she's gonna miss Olivine City far more than she thought she would. Hey! Look on the bright side! She was finally on her pokemon journey! Plus it isn't like she's going away from the city for all eternity! After all, she couldn't leave all her unfinished invention projects and the horde of old parts behind.
It was only a matter of time before the two reached the end of trip as they approached the lab doors. "Looks like we're finally here, Houndour. Wonder what type of machines the professor has inside his lab? Think he'd mind it I pop one open to see how it works?" Her companion just shook its head. Maybe it was wondering if they would be kicked out of the lab before Seras got her official starter pokemon and pokedex. Well, only way to find out.
Entering the lab, Seras immediately forgot to the main purpose of her being here. The poor girl was taken back with all the impressive machinery. It was like a miniature paradise, the only thing that would make it better if there was a junk yard out back where she can harvest unlimited parts. "Oh my gears, Houndour! Just look at this! I wonder how this one works. Oh, how about that one? I can spend the entire week in here!" Before the girl could get too carried away Houndour pulled her away from a machine, she was attempting to pop open, by biting down on the edge her shirt and pulling. Which caused her to tear her eyes from it and look up to see the professor. " Oh, hi Professor Elm! I was just... uh... Well, you see I just.... I'm here to register to be a trainer."
