Claude did not subscribe to making a big deal to some phrases or words said by others, or attaching a supposed meaning to things. Unless she really felt it warranted it. More often than not, it was unwarranted, but this question kept coming up, and Claude couldn't help but find it amusing and interesting, considering who was asking it. The trainee moved off to the side, out of range of his knee to protect her side, and then paused as she looked up at him. She regarded him for a moment, before her lips curled up into a half-smirk. "You're nosy." She teased.

He waved a hand in a very noncommittal sort of way.
"Curious," said Chance and smiled. "I'm curious. There's a difference, you know. I don't pry into other's businesses unless they're willing to tell me. That's probably why I tend to stay around the people I do."
He shrugged and linked his fingers together behind the back of his head.
"But yes, curious. You weren't particularly attached to your hair, were you?"

Claude resumed picking up the locks of hair, smirking all the while. "Mhm." She didn't answer his question, or say anything for a while as she finished picking up the hair. "Hair cutting symbolizes a rite of passage or a growth in character. This can be see when monks have their heads shaved to new recruits having their hair buzzed before boot camp." Claude trailed off for a moment, standing straight and shuffling all the hair into one giant collection. "I do feel like a new person." She smirked a bit.

He was not impatient (at least, most of the time), so the silence stretched comfortably between them without any oddness to it. Chance merely laced his fingers together on top of his stomach and gazed absently up at the ceiling, twiddling his thumbs.
"Then this is a rite of passage," he replied, crossing one ankle over the other and smiling benignly up at Claude. "What are you rite-of-passage-ing?"

Claude was about to go throw the locks into the trash, but then a better idea occurred to her. She should give it a burial at sea. This appealed immensely with her love of piracy and the sea. Rather delighted with this thought, she paused once more on answering Chance's question. "That I can overcome any obstacle to get what I want."

He gave a satisfied nod.
"Good. I approve of this. Kick a** and take names."
Chance pushed himself up a little so that he was on the edge of his bed, legs swinging back and forth. He eyed the clumps of hair in Claude's hands and gave a little nod towards them, his palms resting flat against the bed and a look of amusement in his eyes.
"What are you going to do with that?"

"Throw it off a cliff and into the sea." She told him matter-of-factly. The medicine was starting to kick in, dulling the edge of pain she had been experiencing. With this impromptu change over, and her goal accomplished, she figured she'd head out there now. Not that she was eager to leave Chance's company...but she didn't feel too keen on standing there holding her hair for another length of time. "I'm going."

Chance eyed her for a moment, and then got to his feet, linking his fingers together behind the back of his head.
"Want some company?"

"No." She deadpanned at him, moving to her boots, leaning over a bit gingerly to pull them back on with one hand. "Do I not mind company, though?" A pause. "Yes." The difficult way of saying: 'come along, Chance'.

He took approximately one minute to find his shoes in the closet and slip them on, Chance gesturing towards Claude with one lazy flick of his hand.
"After you, Captain Sass."

She gave him a quick salute once her boots were pulled on, and didn't waste any time in heading out. There was still a bit of a limb in her step from her sore knee, but Claude stilled moved in ground eating strides, bee lining for the nearest cliff over the water. Having walked around the perimeter often, she knew right where to go. It was a new feeling to actually have her hair whipping around her face from the ocean breeze. She came to a stop at the edge of the cliff, and peered down. Claude was silent for a moment before she glanced over at Chance. "Ever jumped from a cliff before?"

He walked beside her without being overcrowding, because Claude was nothing if not proud and he knew she would most likely not want him to offer her help with something as simple as walking. Instead, Chance put both of his hands into his pockets and made his way towards the cliff.
"Nope," he answered, peering over the edge. "What about you?"

"Yeah. It's a rush." She replied simply. "Add it to your list of experiences to have the next time you're at another island." She stared over for a bit longer before she held her hand out containing all her locks, and then let it them go. It was a rather...cathartic experience for some reason. Much better than just throwing them in the trash. She watched the strands get a bit scattered by the breeze as they made a breezy descent down into the water. Claude stared down in silence for a moment longer before she straightened. "That's that."

"I'm down for it," said Chance, taking a slight step forward, though not enough to actually be at the very edge of the cliff. "I mean, I'm not crazy about heights, but they don't bother me too much. I've never been inclined to jump off of one before, but if I have the right gear, then why not."
Some of the locks blew sideways before falling, some spiraling downward easily. Chance watched them with interest until he couldn't see them anymore, and then he turned to look at Claude, eyebrows raised.
"Thoughts? Opinions? Rite of passage achieved?"

"Yeah. If I die before you, give something of mine a burial at sea." Not the same topic exactly, but he did ask about her thoughts and opinions. She smirked softly, and turned away from the cliff edge to start heading back to the dorms. One hand came up to touch the ends of her hair again as she walked. "Thanks." For the help today.
