Saliva glowed brightly, and she squirmed inside of his mind with excitement. "I want to eat him whole." She squealed and instead Melvin pointed the gun to himself. With the horsemen tangoing with Horace, Melvin shot the charge against his shield, letting the plasma drip over the shield before it absorbed.
It tingled with a cool chill like freezing electricity.
Done, he moved in to get a better position.
"Hang in there. Don't get too close." He called out, voice pinched with panic. "J-Just be careful!"

Horace turned briefly to grin at Melvin. "Don't worry - kinda have to get in close. Not everyone can be long-range." He much preferred it this way, to get up and close to enemies, to see their facial expressions change or not change and to feel the give of their body underneath his hands. The other man's concern was heartening, though. Maybe he'd try to heal soon. Outside of the wards, Horace didn't have the luxury of feeling his shield pop.
He moved, long limbs striking out, catching the horseman in his side. The spikes on his tekkos gleamed wetly and he could almost feel the excitement thrumming through Jannisari. It was echoed in his own eyes and in the way he darted in for another hit even as the horseman slashed at him.

"Just don't get too carried away. Step back when you need to breath. I...don't want anyone else hurt here." he said, and narrowed his eyes, sidestepping as he moved.
The horsemen seemed to notice and threw a fist of searing sand at him. It hit him, and he felt coated in the grit. Spitting out the dirt, he turned with gleaming blue eyes. Reaching up, he wiped at the mounds of sad in his hair and looked as he noticed a bug crawling over his glove.
Grimacing, he shook his hand quickly before raising Saliva. He HATED horsemen. Another shot was fired, and it went right for the head.
"It's nearly done!" He said, noticing it wobble on it's bone legs and hunch.

"I'll breathe when it's over." Horace would push and push and push until something gave - whether it was him or his enemy. His tenacity was both a credit and a detriment. Horace ducked under the horseman's blade, kicking out blindly at its knee. With a shriek the thing crumpled dramatically to the ground, sword flying away from it in an arc.
Grin widening, he circled it, pulling it up by one arm, bending both behind it's back. He looked over at Melvin.

The horsemen had reached its limit and their scout was now a prisoner. Wasting no time, Melvin pulled out some rope from his pack and went over, working to bind the creature with its boney arms behind it's back. "We have to watch it doesn't detach something to get free. Here that." He said, addressing the last part to the creature. "Don't try."
Despite Horace's smile, Melvin only looked up and offered a small smile but it was quickly gone after as he looked at the horsemen. It wasn't a clone, but it was something. It was evidence that he was working hard, but it still wasn't what he wanted. He wanted one of them. He wanted to know more about what Taym had talked about with him.
And now their trip was shortened.
Looking out at the desert, he rose up with Horace, rising the horsemen to its feet. "Let's go back. Deus always needs more volunteers for research."

He gave the horseman a look of utter disgust. "They can detach things?!" With creatures, though, Horace supposed he shouldn't be surprised. He snorted at the volunteer comment. "Yeah, I wish we could stay longer, but can't exactly leave this thing alone at the camp. I'll pack up while you watch it."

Melvin stood watch, the horsemen limp but looking about for opportunities, but the Lifer wasn't about to let his slip away. When Horace came back, they gathered their prisoner and headed through the portal. Before they stepped through, he looked back to Horace.
"Thanks for - not leaving. I appreciate all you did." And with that, they headed back.
