Jonah had been so lost in his thoughts and memories that he'd almost missed the person who'd followed him out here.
“Leah Anders,” the man had spoke softly.
Jonah, in his severely drunken state, was unsure if the man had truly said what he did, of if his mind had just gone insane from alcohol poisoning. If he wasn't imagining this, then why did this man say what he did? Had he seen the previous week's obituary, heard him call out his love, Leah, with passion in his words, and put two and two together? The odds were extremely unlikely, but possible.... He was talking to him, yes?
As the man continued speaking, telling of how he'd experienced what Jonah is experiencing currently, the young man turned his head and watched the man, his eyes unbelieving. So he was, in fact, talking to him, and he knew who he was and about Leah! Who was this guy? And what was with his question?
"Everyone knows the dead can't come back, and hypotheticals really aren't my thing," Jonah snapped, his words slurred. There was no reason to dwell on matters that were deemed impossible. "Now leave me be, I've had a rough time."

"Now leave me be, I've had a rough time."
Jonah’s slurred voice made Hidiyoshi sigh. The man was more intoxicated than the advocate would have liked. But, who was he to keep Jonah from downing the poisonous liquid? The snapped tone reminded Hidiyoshi of the fine line he carefully walked. This man may be pushed over the edge too easily, the advocate would have to resort to another tactic, for a quota had to be met…
“Jonah?” A voice called out to the drunken man. But, this time it wasn’t in Hidiyoshi’s voice, but a gentle feminine voice with a melodious tone. Soft, but full of fear as well. “Jonah can hear me? God it’s cold, so cold…”
From behind Hidiyoshi’s tall frame, stepped out a young woman with cherry-blonde hair and rosey-pink cheeks. She rubbed her forearms in a vain attempt to keep warm as she looked wildly about. Her image was slightly see through. But, the man’s dulled mind was already quite receptive to Hidiyoshi’s tricks of illusion.
"You shall accompany me on this mission. The rest of you may take the rest of the day off. Training will continue tomorrow morning.... Don't be late."
“Aye aye Captain!” Evelyn cheered, not hiding her enthusiasm at being able to go until...she heard the whispering from behind.
“He says not to be late, yet he takes the new recruit who was tardy,” a low voice whispered. “And with no wings at that!” Added another voice in hushed surprise. “Seriously, what were they thinking having her even join?”
Evelyn's eager smile faltered. The young woman glanced over her shoulder, but couldn’t tell who had been talking from their retreating backs. Clearing her throat, Evelyn tucked a stray hair back behind her ears. She felt suddenly self conscious.
"Come now, we must prepare,"
The young woman turned to look back at Gideon as he spoke. She lifted her chin back up in renewed determination. “I’m ready,” Evelyn remarked with a nod as she readied to follow the Captain, well at least through the walkways...

Jonah was glad the man didn't push the subject. It was a really sore area of conversation for the young man.
“Jonah can hear me? God it’s cold, so cold…”
Jonah's hands began to tremble when the voice suddenly rang out. He recognized it so well; the voice was there whenever he'd wake up in the morning, preparing to go to work; it wished him luck. It was the voice that, when asked that sacred question, said, 'I Do,' bringing him happiness he never thought he'd get to experience. And here that voice was again, the voice belonging to the woman he loved who he thought he'd lost...
"Leah...," he mumbled, as he tried to hold in his tears. He couldn't tell if he was simply imagining it, or if she really had come back to him, but he didn't care. "Leah! I'm here!" he called, pushing his drunken-self over to her, using the wall as support. "Leah! Please, don't leave me! You're the only thing worth a damn in this world... I need you!" He reached out his hand towards the figure that looked like his love. Take my hand and never let go, he thought.
The girl looked at herself in the mirror. She had just got dressed and Eleanore always made sure to look over herself carefully before heading out. It had been a couple of days since she had last collected a soul and she was starting to grow restless. Hanging out in clubs with her so-called peers could be fun but the work had dried up recently. She was trying to get ins to other groups but that took time and she was getting bored dealing with the egos and stupidity in the fashion world. It was true that they were easy because of their vanity and lusts but it grew so tiring to spend time with them. A drink and a dance was fun sometimes, but her demonic nature made it impossible to get drunk so she had to remember all the stupid things her 'friends' said to her when they were the worst for wear.
Sighing softly, Eleanore pulled on her sandals and picked up her clutch bag. Opening it, she removed her phone and quickly brought up Hideyoshi's contact details to send her a quick text. The demon had given her a few referrals before when her particular talents were more suited to sealing the deal with a distressed soul and she hoped that he would be able to give her one tonight.
'Got any jobs going? I'm bored. -E.'
Putting her phone back in her purse after sending the text, she sauntered out of her apartment and down the stairs to a waiting taxi.
A few minutes later, she was strutting into a nightclub with a group of moderately famous models. She could feel the eyes of many on her and her 'friends' as they made their way to their private booth. The music was loud and unpleasant but she had plenty of experience in pretending to enjoy herself. There was little that made Eleanore happy now but she was very good at faking it. The only joy in her life was the rush as she tore someone's soul from their body. She hoped to get that feeling again soon.
After a while, she brought out her phone and checked it. Still no reply. Sighing, she put it back.
'Waiting for a boy to text you back?" asked a friend, pushing a cocktail over to her.
The redhead smiled wanly. "Something like that. Just waiting to see if I've got a job."
"Ooh yeah. I always get antsy when I'm waiting for a callback."
She tried to resist the urge to roll her eyes, giving her friend a small understanding smile before downing the cocktail in front of her. "Why don't we dance? You can help me take my mind off it?"
Her friend giggled and stood up, leaning over in her rather revealing dress to kiss Eleanore gently on the lips. "We could do something else if that helps?"
The demon smiled, looking into the other's eyes. "Not yet but maybe later?"
"Sounds good."
Getting to her feet, she took the girl's hand as they sauntered over to the floor to join in the dancing crowds. Eleanore could feel the eyes of several in the crowd, their lust rushing over her in waves. Were she a human, the girl might not have noticed, but as Lucifer's succubus, she could sense even the tiniest sparks of lust and was expert at fanning them. For now, however, Eleanore just wanted to dance while she waited for Hideyoshi's text.
Gideon nodded, then took off in a direction Evelyn would be unable to follow. However, after a few seconds, Gideon returned with a sort-of back pack. He landed, and handed the item over to the recruit. "This is Heaven's Wings," he explained. "It's what we give angels-in-training, like yourself, so they can experience flight. That way, by the time their own wings are unlocked, they'll already understand how angel wings operate."
He waited for Evelyn to place the backpack on her back, then he snapped the harness tight for her and pressed a button on the strap. Long, angelic wings then would sprout from the pack, and Evelyn would be able to fly. "Now, how it works is you imagine what the wings should do, and they do it. Now come, follow me. The human we must protect is in the mundane world, so we'll have to pass through the rift gate bellow the clouds. Once there, we go to the city nearby and search." After finishing his instructions, he spread his wings out wide and flew upwards, the loped back and flew down through the clouds. "Hopefully he hasn't already sold himself," the angel muttered hopefully.
"Leah! Please, don't leave me! You're the only thing worth a damn in this world... I need you!"
Once upon a time, Hidiyoshi would have felt sympathy for the man as he called out to his beloved. But, that was long ago. Now a small smile spread across the advocate’s lips. His talent for casting illusion was once again a success. Now, to reel Jonah in and sea...suddenly Hidiyoshi’s pocket vibrated, alerting the advocate of a received message.
'Got any jobs going? I'm bored. -E.'
Hidiyoshi grimaced slightly as he read the message. A bored Eleanore would be bound to be up to mischief. Then another thought occurred to the head advocate. A bored Eisheth might be just what Hidiyoshi would need in just a bit.
‘Might need your help over here. Sending coordinates. Come as soon as you can. Sincerely, Hidiyoshi’
The emotional contact had been made with the distressed soul. Holy warriors would be inbound soon for they never took too long. Hidiyoshi could use Eleanore’s talent for distraction to ensure that the deal was sealed.
The advocate then became aware that Jonah was reaching out to touch Leah. Hidiyoshi’s illusions...were just that. If Jonah tried to touch his love all he would feel was air. Quickly, the advocate extended out a hand to prevent Jonah from getting too close to the illusion of Leah. Then in his hand, materialize a piece of parchment.
The parchment look old, but was decorated with elegant writing in gleaming crimson ink. “Statement of The Deal, I Jonah Ross, do declare my soul in exchange for individual Leah Anders, to be brought back to the land of mortals.”
“At point of my death, my soul is hereby owned by the ‘current’ reigning ruler of Hell. Ergo, sole property of the of said ruler, until further action passed.”
Sign, ________________
“Sign here, and nothing will stand between you and Leah.” Hidiyoshi stated in a calm voice as he held up the parchment with a steady hand, and now handed the man a quilled ink pen to seal the deal.
“Jonah!” Leah exclaimed as she paused. A bright, happy smile spread across her face as she added in relieved voice, “I can hear you! Thank God I am not alone anymore!”
‘Oh, don’t thank him, my dear...’ Hidiyoshi thought. For Leah could hear...but, will she be able to ‘see’?

Hmmm, I think the ‘sealing the deal’ part could have been more creative, but this week hasn’t been too kind to my creative muscles >~< Well, tried to add a nice devilish twist. Evelyn’s post on the way...

╰҉ -EVELYN- ҉╮
"This is Heaven's Wings,"
Evelyn studied the backpack Gideon held out to her. It was remarkably light for something that would give her flight. Feeling curious, the rookie imagined that hidden inside was a jet pack of some sort that would propel about in the air. Eagerly, the young woman hoisted the pack onto her back.
The rookie was half wanting to shout out ‘Go go gadget Heaven’s Wings!’ But, when Gideon pressed the button, Evelyn was at a lost for words. The long, angelic wings moved with her thoughts and fluttered at her rising excitement. “This is a-mazing!” Evelyn gushed with glee.
Bright green eyes watched the Archangel fly into the air and dive down through the clouds with grace and powerful beating wings. “Okay, let’s do this!” Evelyn urged her dainty wings, which fluttered in response, but didn’t generate enough lift to pick her off the ground.
“Aww come on! I’m not that heavy!” The rookie admonished the wings with a pout. Had her love for doughnuts finally caught up with her in heaven? ‘Need one good beat!’Evelyn concentrated and felt the gust from her wings as she was propelled into the air.
“Woah!” Evelyn gasped with eyes wide in surprise. Being completely airborne, it was an oddly freeing sensation. But, suddenly plummeting through the sky due to being distracted was downright frightening! "ARGH!" The rookie screamed as she flapped her arms wildly about. Then remembered she had wings.
Concentrating, Evelyn’s wings were able to steady herself in the sky. “Haha!” The rookie cheered as she finally caught the hang of managing her wings while being aware of her surroundings. For fun, she did a loop like Gideon, but felt the contents of her stomach protest if she tried it again.
Quickly, Evelyn tucked in her wings to become more aerodynamic as she sped after the glowing Archangel. “Have you ever flown into a bird?” The rookie asked as she caught up with Gideon; all the while looking about for any sign of a large flock of birds.
Gideon hesitated to answer. "Er... Yes, once. Horrible incident, feathers were everywhere," he shuddered. After they passed through the rift, the Mundane world opened up to them. Evelyn might even recognize some familiar landscapes.
A few kilometers before them lay the city where the distressed soul was located. "Be on guard, I'm sensing at least two demonic presences," Gideon informed the recruit. He then folded his wings and dove down into the city's heart. He landed with a heavy quack, then quickly looked over his surroundings. The sun was down, and a half-moon illuminated the streets along with several street lights. Gideon unsheathed his sword, it's steel glimmering in the moon light, his armored visor came down to cover his eyes, and he began to walk the vacant streets with caution. He would be unseen to all but the distressed soul and the Lucifer's advocates.
Her eyes drifted down to her phone as it began to crawl along the table. "Hey. I need to take that," said Eleanore, forcing the girl straddling her to move away from her neck so she could lean over to pick up her phone.
"Aww. Do you really need to? I was enjoying kissing you!"
The girl shook her head and smirked a little. "I bet you were. I could feel your hand trying to get in the top of my dress," she said, pulling up the message and smiling when she saw its contents.
‘Might need your help over here. Sending coordinates. Come as soon as you can. Sincerely, Hidiyoshi’
She shook her head at how formal he sounded at the end of his text. Someone reading that would think Hideyoshi was an old man but he was not that old, even for an Advocate. She was much younger than him but still.
"Is that the callback you were waiting for?" asked her friend, trying to crane her neck to see the message.
The demoness placed her phone face down on the table. "Yup and he wants to see me right now."
"What? But you've been drinking and it's late... Just go in the morning," said the girl, sliding a hand under the neckline of her dress to grope the soft warm flesh underneath. "This is better, isn't it?"
Eleanore smiled and shook her head. "Raincheck? I promise that you'll get to have fun with me next time," said the girl, gently pushing her friend off her lap. Leaning over, she kissed the blonde's lips despite her pout. "Don't sulk. You know the business can be weird." Sitting up, she retrieved her phone and put it in her purse before finishing her drink.
Once she was outside, she checked her phone and found the coordinates in a follow-up message. Checking them on her GPS, Eleanore sighed. It was pretty close but the urgency had taken her a little by surprise. Changing into her demonic form tended to shred whatever she was wearing at the time and this dress was really expensive. Looking down at herself, she shrugged and started walking -- hopefully her human form would be enough for the task at hand. Her path would take her past several busy venues that she liked to frequent but there would be no partying tonight; being an advocate was more fun, anyway.
A shiver ran down her spine as she crossed the road into downtown. Looking up, she saw nothing but the night sky but she knew something else was up there. A rift had opened and that meant only one thing. Hideyoshi had not been kidding when he said it was urgent. He was the only other advocate in this city, that she knew of, so he had to be sealing a deal. Cursing under her breath, the girl looked around before spotting a girl, a student she assumed, walking past with a decent sized messenger bag.
"Hey! You!" said Eleanore, rushing over to the other female.
The girl visibly winced before tensing up when she took in her appearance. "Wha-what do you want?"
She smiled brightly. "Oh it's just I need that bag you've got."
"What? No! Why?"
Eleanore produced a hundred dollar bill seemingly from nowhere. "I just want the bag, not its contents. Pretty sure this can buy you another."
The student's eyes darted to the note before back at the redhead. "I... I guess."
"Thank you."
A couple of minutes later, the demon was standing alone in an alley. She opened up the messenger back before quickly stripping off her clothes and stuffing it inside along with her purse. Satisfied, the girl allowed herself to shift to her succubus form. Her tail and wings burst out first before the rest of her body went through the transformation. Standing tall, she stretched herself out before reaching down and picking up the bag. "Got to hurry," she muttered to herself, running her tongue over her newly grown fangs. Sliding the bag over her shoulder carefully, she beat her massive wings and took to the air. In this form, no one would see her unless she wanted them to and even then they would see whatever they desired the most. Only the most powerful of beings could see through it. Hideyoshi was one of them and archangels too. She hated dealing with those angels in particular, they always looked down on her.
By flying, it would only take her another two to three minutes to reach the coordinates she had been given. Hopefully Hideyoshi was still there and the Holy Warriors were still too far away to interfere.

Jonah grew quiet and still as the man beside him grabbed his hand and seemed to conjure a paper up from nowhere. It seemed suspicious to him, though it may have just been his intoxication. Jonah wearily took the paper from the man. All he had to do was sign this, and he'd have Leah back? That was too good to be true, right? And what's this about souls? They don't exist, do they?
Jonah's eyes lifted from the paper to the face of his love, and his gaze changed from one of suspicion to longing: she was calling to him, and he was sitting here doubting the reality of his situation. Real or not, he wanted-- no, needed her. His life was meaningless without her, and if he were to die from whatever this was he didn't care. As long as there was a chance she could return to him, he would take it.
Jonah took the pen from the man and began to sign his name, though his drunken state was making the matter difficult. "I need a hard surface to right on," he mumbled.

"I need a hard surface to right on,"
Hidiyoshi nodded. He was probably one of the most patient individuals in hell.
Though he was at a loss for a quick hard surface, when they were out on the street. “Well, you can use my back,” Hidiyoshi offered as he turned his back to Jonah.
But, then the advocate’s back stiffened as he sensed the arrival of one...no two Holy Warriors. The first warrior was the strongest. Heavenly power radiated from the warriors. Hidiyoshi estimates that the pair were still a couple of streets away.
It was good fortunate that Eleanore had arrived as well.
Now for Jonah to just sign the deal before they were interrupted and Hidiyoshi would have to reveal his true nature...
Evelyn tried to land as smoothly as Gideon. But, it took her a couple of tries as she hovered slightly above the ground, then did a series of bunny hops before she steadied herself on the ground.
"Be on guard, I'm sensing at least two demonic presences,"
Evelyn’s eyes went wide at the news as she pressed the button for the wing’s to retreat back into the pack. Mimicking her Captain, the rookie unsheathed her sword and followed after him down a vacant street.
This would be it. Evelyn’s first time on a mission and fighting an advocate...no two advocates at that! It was nerve wracking and exciting all rolled into one.
And then, she sensed it. The cold unsettling aura of evil nearby. It made goosebumps form upon the rookie’s skin and she tightened her grip upon her sword.
The pair rounded the corner, to see two man alone on a street in front of a bar. The scene would not have looked odd, had the man with short hair seemed to be exuding a shadowy aura about him.
‘That must be an advocate!’ Evelyn gasped. And, the advocate’s eyes shifted to gaze in the direction of the two Holy Warriors. His iris’s gleamed of crimson in the moonlit as they narrowed.
“Oh, hello Gideon,” Hidiyoshi sighed, feeling wary to have to face the Captain...again. He then peered at Gideon’s partner, and his brow arched in interest.
“And, new recruit.” The advocate added as a small cruel smile curled his lips. A new recruit would be an easy target to quickly take out.

[[OOC Notice]] Thank you for waiting. Now to get this story going again biggrin
Eleanore spotted the angels approaching Hideyoshi and cursed under her breath. She had hoped to get there before but that obviously was not going to happen now. Landing in a nearby alley, she peeked around the corner to watch the exchange between the demon and the arch-angel. Seeing Gideon standing there, the demoness could not help but grimace. His mind was too strong to enter and pull any desires out of it. She could only hope that he was too distracted by the contract in the advocate's hand to pay much attention to her.
Her eyes alighted on the other angel and a smirk touched her lips. A new soul. The girl did not even have her wings and she still had a faint whiff of mortality about her. Why had the Holy Warrior brought such a new fighter with him? She looked like she could barely fly with the silly little backpack she wore. Even if she could, it would never be fast enough to get away from Eleanore should she choose to in the air.
This girl would be easy to bewitch, however. It would be pleasing to make an angel fall... or at least play around with for a little while. Hideyoshi had the contract in hand. She did not like that he had brought her here as a distraction but the new angel could at least make this evening a little more fun than she had anticipated.
Closing her eyes, Eleanore's mind reached out and started to gently prod at the young girl. Her training had barely began and it was easy to slip between her nascent mental defences. Even the purest of beings had desires. They might be boring but they had them. It may not satisfy her lustful or wrathful nature, but whatever she pulled out of her target would at least provide some diversion this evening.
Stepping out from the alley, the demon began striding over to the angels. Her form shifted and wavered, changing into the person that most embodied the young angel's desires. She moved so that the girl would see her but chose not to say anything to call her attention. Calling to her target might alert Gideon and the last thing she needed was an arch-angel turning his attentions upon her. So far, she had successfully avoided getting into a fight with one. She would like to keep that record going.
"I would say it's good to see you again, Hidiyoshi.... But it isn't," the Archangel sighed. Of all the advocates they'd run in to, it had to be one of Lucifer's lieutenants. Gideon's gaze shifted to Evelyn; would she be able to handle this? If a lieutenant was here, then who in hell could the second presence he'd sensed belong to? Things weren't looking good. Hidiyoshi would likely require his full attention, so Evelyn might have to deal with the second demon on her own. The Archangel began to question his decision to bring along someone so new to all of this.
He dropped down to whisper something into the woman's ear. "If things go badly, I want you to run. Don't look back, I'll be fine. But you, I want you to get back to heaven as fast as you can. Understand?" he whispered. Gideon then brought his gaze down on the lieutenant, then to the human behind him. "Jonah," he began. "This may seem like a dream come true, but it's not. It is a nightmare, and I highly reccomend you to not deal with these creatures. They bring nothing but misfortune." There was a certain sincerity in his booming voice.
As he finished what he had to say, he readied his sword. If Jonah still tried to go through with it, he would force the demons away from him. Humans never knew what was good for them, and were always so caught up in emotion that they would ruin themselves. Gideon wasn't going to let that happen to this man. He's been through too much already.
