Nomad Rath Just to note, referencing other female character designs from the same artist doesn't serve your point. Fire Emblem has proven time and time again how it can make female character designs sexy and practical in some sense. I understand that Rath. All I'm saying is that it does bother me when females are portrayed as sex objects just because they're evil. If they were fun and interesting characters that's one thing, but if it leads up to nothing it then why should I care at all? That's all. I referenced Yuzuki Kozaki because since when has the Dark Mages unit had revealing clothes before Awakening came out? I understand that it's a style and most people seem to like it fine I guess, but I dunno I'm kind of indifferent towards it. They were either Shamans in the GBA games, Lopto mages in the judgral series, and there was only one playable dark magic user in Radiant Dawn. And looking through the majority of the series, there wasn't all that many dark users prior to Tharja, Henry, and Aversa. There's Salem, Sophia, Niime, Ray, Canas, Knoll, Palleas. And that's honestly it. But yeah... you're right just referencing only Yusuke Kozaki doesn't prove anything And again like I said, he's not too bad of a designer. I personally find his work interesting. I really dig Sachiko Wada's art style in particular though. He's the one that did DLC Leif's art in awakening along with other stuff especially Path of Radiance. Senri Kita's pretty awesome too. I mean how about Nephenee? She's the only female soldier in the series(Which I'd love to see more of that class in general) and she's pretty attractive and not to mention she has really cool looking armor design too. Or heck, even Titania is an absolutely gorgeous, strong woman on her own with those wonderful colors, and she was a pretty excelllent character in Path of Radiance too.

I was actually referring to Archolite's use of citing Cherche and other girls from Awakening in response to my complaint of 'Camilla's' design.
The reason dark mages, men and women, have suddenly become so sexualized (at least in our eye) is because the artist is drawing upon ancient Egyptian influence in the design of the clothing, mostly in part of where the country is in the game, being a desert country and all. I really like the dark mage designs, personally. I think they mostly make sense. Revealing skin seems to be a part of the culture there and mages have never really cared about any form of physical protection, traditionally.

Oh you meant Archolite? Whoops, looks like I jumped the gun. My mistake, Rath. sweatdrop
Ah I see, I guess can understand that point of view. It is interesting that the artist is drawing up from egyptian culture. Whether or not you agree with their beliefs, the myths and stories are farily interesting stuff. And they have a very different way of life, heck all cultures throughout the world do.
I felt like that it would've been very interesting had they gone more into the character's backgrounds just a bit more. Some of the supports does go over it sometimes... but that's not always the case. Like heck, the country of Chon Sin is rarely talked about all that often. All we can tell from Say'ri's supports is that the land is very much an asian type of culture. But I could never really get invested into Yen Fay's and Say'ri's as actual characters because there is so little to work with. The designs are cool, but is it enough to back it up?

Hard to say, Rhys. However, I do feel that the Valm Arc was being too rush since we learn very little in the country. sweatdrop
But anyway, I hope that the next game won't rush the story like Awakening. I do like to learn more about what's going on in the country's politic, economy, and/or culture more.
And this seems a little out of topic but since we're on the Dark Mage's outfit, I do have one question about it... How the heck to female Dark Mage be able to use the restroom when wearing an one-piece leotard? sweatdrop

(shrugs) Hopefully, with so much focus on the two countries and how you need to choose between them, we might finally get more information on the countries themselves.

*holds the Filia Shield in front* Don't want to quiver your arrow features, but it looks like we have a MALE pegasus warrior in the game. emotion_awesome Anyway, in other news, it looks like we have a new "laguz" in the game and it's a fox spirit (or a kitsune as we call them.) Based by the information, it has the same weakness as the laguz (beast) to weapon. In addition, its abilities is kinda similar to a Heron, except instead of using a healing staff, it KOs the enemies. Also two new features are going to be added to the game. One is My Castle, which is kinda similar to Secret Base from Pokemon and/or Animal Crossing. The other is a cooking feature (kinda like Tales series, Star Ocean, and such) that whatever the unit cooks will give a stat boost per chapter (battle).

I'm all for removing the gender-locked classes personally. I feel like maybe it can lead to more diversity eventually. I think we all know how FE likes to use the same types over and over again.
I think some of the new changes could be promising so long as they're done right. Can't come up with new innovations if they just keep doing everything the same way over and over again after all!
Also, one piece leotards are like swimsuits or those rompers that were/are popular? You uh... just have to shuck them off first. sweatdrop Lovely imagery and implications there, but I think they'd just say we weren't meant to worry about how their bodily functions work. Too much realism or something I dunno.
To be fair though, i still haven't gotten to play Awakening. Current consoles will forever be a thing that escapes my grasp. Such is my life.
