It didn't take long before the children began to scurry up from behind them, and Zeffer felt a further surge of relief. Their rescuers were being thorough, at least, and it served to boost his confidence slightly, as he shuffled up the walkway at Aprife's side. He had drawn nervously close to the wall, averting his eyes from the gaping black maw of the pit, to squint up ahead. The place was dark, and his eyes were tired...but there was a voice calling from the front of the group, and a soft light began to shine in the darkness. Someone was trying to call them to attention, and the whispering amongst the crowd seemed to hush as a feminine voice addressed the rebel forces.

Zeffer was too far back to see very well, but he thought for a moment that the voice seemed vaguely familiar. He was too tired to place it, and could only wait listlessly between the few moment it took for her to continue. So, they would be lead out, shown the way. A soft sigh left him as the group of trolls began to slide forward again, and he licked his lips, continuing to hope for a quick, silent escape. Was the security really so lax that the disturbance hadn't been noticed yet, or were their saviors really that thorough? When they finally grew closer to the door, the blueblood squinted as he caught sight of another of the hooded figures, this one much taller and...wielding a strange light that seemed to emanate directly from her hands. He didn't have much time to stare, before they were out the door, and through another hallway, hopefully bound for freedom.

[ Didero wasn’t sure if he’d fallen asleep or gone into some kind of depression trance. His joints felt stiff like he’d been sitting in his corner of the cell for sweeps. With great difficulty, he unclenched his fist from around his tattooed wounded arm, and quickly rolled his sleeves down before he could give the mark another look. He scuffed his shoes against the cement as he flexed his knees and hugged his cold hands under his arms. Focusing on being in cold and sore was a better train of thought than pondering his future. What a sad state.

Didero stopped moving his feet, but faint shuffling noises continued. Didero felt his heart jump into his throat long before he had any inkling as to what the sounds meant. Nobody moved fast in this place—trudged, perhaps. Guards didn’t have any reason to be quiet either. Something was going on just outside of Didero’s cell.

Carefully, as though a sudden movement could frighten away the source of the noise, Didero crawled up to the door. Just as he was about to peer cautiously around the corner, a figure appeared in front of him, causing Didero to fall back on his behind. A woman, face set in concentration, fussed with the lock on the door. With a pop and a clunk, the lock was tossed aside and the door swung open.

Other children had realized what was happening before Didero, and pushed around him through the door before he had a chance to right himself. Eventually, he too managed to follow the small crowd out onto the platform before the cells. Even then, Didero wasn’t sure what had transpired. If he did, he didn’t want to jinx the situation by applying words to it like “freedom.” As far as he knew, he was just following the crowd with a wide-eyed stare.

There was a glow—and a great deal of whispering. Didero could hardly make out the source with the number of bodies crowding the hall, and his own diminutive stature. Slowly, however, the group began to ooze down the walkway in a specific direction. They were being led. Didero, reminded of his flock, wasted no time keeping up with the group.

Where was his lusus? Were they going to collect them too?

Odette's gloved hands clasped the edge of the pit. Upper body strength wasn't her forte, but the fear of losing her grip and falling into the deep, dark pits was enough to keep her grip in place. Legs together, she swung them back and forth, using her powers until she had enough momentum to vault over the edge. She fell onto the floor a little less elegantly than she would have liked, but she was safe and with her friends again, and that's what counted.

Odette stood, dusting herself off. She was pleased to see that the girls were successful in their freeing of the other rebels. Striding over to Milieu, she stopped when she saw that she seemed to be sharing a delicate moment with someone. After a moment, she interjected, "I don't mean to interrupt, but I have some bad news." She said, lowering her tone to avoid frightening the kids. "I couldn't find the leader... not even a trace..." She frowned. Her bile sack twisted with regret. Her thoughts horrified her. And what fate had become of their leader? Were they already too late?

All freed trolls
You can now, at your leisure, open rps that involve you finding and freeing your captured lusus with an ally/allies. If you have purchased a sandglobe as an ending reward you may simply write this out as a solo, using that. (If so, ignore the second quote below)

All the lusus have been marked with the same brand/chip as your trolls, sedated, and sent to various power plants in all the cities where they are being forced to jump on treadmills and run in various sized gerbil cages to generate energy. Similar to the rebels breaking you out, there are no set obstacles save for the ones you put in. (however, please remember to take into account that it is a dangerous situation!) However if your troll is a teen or with teens while you are attempting to break your lusus out, please read the section below.

If accompanied by a teen/is a teen
For each post every person submits, roll 2d4. Keep track of the accumulated point total between all players posting. When you have gotten to the point where you have found and released your lusus, or have reached a total of 20 points, (whichever comes first) multiply the result by the total number of party members, and consult the spoiler below.

Please copy-paste the code below into your next post in this thread, and change the thread's title label to show it is both a rp and battle.

You have encountered a Security Patrol!
Only trolls who are currently posting in the thread may join in the fight.
The mechanics work similar to regular boss battle, although this is classified as a mini-boss. (We are testing this system! Enjoy being guinea-pigs!)
Unlike regular boss battles, the mule will not be posting new rounds, and players can simply post as fast and often as they want, taking turns to attack one at a time.
Players who have trinkets or abilities may also post to use one directly after posting their attack, giving them a maximum of two turns for that round.

Each time every player in the fight has had a turn to attack the mini-boss once and use one power/trinket, a new round begins.

At each new round roll the standard 2d6 and use the table below to see what damage you've taken.
As always, the first number is what you should check for your damage, and the second is the amount done to the mini-boss.

Once the mini-boss or all players fighting it reach 0hp, this can be counted by all trolls participating as a battle rp for growth. If you have any questions, please PM the mule!

GUARD STARTING HP: (final group's rolling score x number of group members)

As you hurry along, trying not to attract any unwelcome attention, you nevertheless fail to get past all the guards unseen. A ringing cry pierces your sponge clots - "Halt!" Two drones, clearly low-tier guards, come huffing up, one shedding a half-eaten circular grain product with sugary glazing. "This is a restricted area! You are under arrest! Put your hands in the air!" You don't want to weigh what your chances are of escaping from the Punishment Pits twice. Taking out a handheld transceiver, one of them barks into it. "We have intruders, repeat! Intruders!"
The other one shuffles a little, getting out a heavy baton. "Burtam - did you remember to put new batteries in?" At this, the barking drone pauses and squints down at his device, pressing the button a few times. "Damn. Uh. Hey you! I said hands up! Just because we don't have backup doesn't mean you won't be getting into a nice new pair of cuffs!" Raising his own baton, he nods at his partner, and the two drones advance on you.

If you rolled a 1, the two guards both decide to focus on you, and actually manage to wrestle you to the ground with your hands behind your back before you're able to shake them off. In your mind's eye, you can see the cell's door slamming back into place as you're thrown in again. Take 4 dmg.

If you rolled a 2, one of the guards leaps at you in a frenzy, striking you over and over and over while yelling something about 'assaulting an officer of the royal army'. He seems to be forgetting which one of you is doing the assaulting at the current moment. Take 3 dmg.

If you rolled a 3, a truncheon comes down hard on your head, making your eyes cross for a moment as chirpbeasts flutter around in front of your vision. Take 2 dmg.

If you rolled a 4, you charge forward and place your foot square on the food carelessly dropped by one of the drones as they arrived. The sugary glaze causes you to slide awkwardly across the floor, arms windmilling, before dropping you onto your rear. Take 1 dmg.

If you rolled a 5, You manage to duck and dodge all truncheon swings, nimbly slipping in between and around the two bulky guards as they flail at you.

If you rolled a 6, you consider these two drones, willingly working in a plant that is powered by enslaved lusii. What kind of heartless jerk could enforce the law, in a place filled with parents forcefully separated from their children?! Your next attack is loaded with righteous outrage, and does double damage.

When the mini-boss or all trolls have reached 0hp, please look in the spoiler below.
Mini-Boss at 0
As soon as the first of the guards drops to a knee, you take your chance and dart past them, ignoring the shouts from behind you as you leave them in your dust. You'd better get out of here before they catch their second wind! (Do not continue to roll 2d4s. If players hit the maximum of 20 points in rolling the 2d4, each player can now roll 1d100 in their next post. If you get a multiple of 10, your troll has snatched a 3 use novice trinket of your choice from one of the guards as they fled past.)
Players at 0
The two guard drones are more than a match for you, and you call a strategic retreat, running until you can't hear their footsteps or shouts anymore. Looks like you will have to find another way around to get past. (Do not continue to roll 2d4s)

This is for every troll that took the rebel side in this meta, regardless of if they posted during the battle/capture afterwards, as they are assumed to have been brought along.

Milieu wasn't sure what it was that came to Lunear's eyes and face that made her stop and hold stock still. She should be moving, leaving the cell, but instead her gaze was locked with his. This wasn't the overly confident, often time flamboyantly so, blueblood who was horrible with a whip and liked to fancy himself in league with the queen herself. Milieu swallowed and wondered why her cheeks were warming up. Why her heart was racing. Lunear was always handsome. There was simply no denying this fact. In the brief moment where his masked slip, Milieu swore he was breath taking.

It only got better. A smile, a forehead touch. Milieu smiled slowly despite herself, rumbling with a faint warmth that was entirely unfamiliar. The whole exchange was brief, but it was something that the wounded teen needed. Shaking her head, she turned and wrapped an arm around Lunear's back. He was weak.

As Milieu was about to motion to his body, Odette approached. Ah, right... Well they were trying to escape. A flush of embarassment colored her face as she shook her head emphatically no. No no, no need to be sorry for interrupting! Oh... Milieu's stomach dropped... Byakko was missing. What... What could they do.

Milieu looked to Lune, then back to Odette. It was... Difficult. Why couldn't she even speak? Why was she born like this? Nodding to Odette, she took a short step forward and hoped Lunear would follow.

[ Didero didn’t have the energy left to be awestruck, though he could tell his situation was certainly something to be awestruck about. He was lead silently among a throng of equally silent, dead-eyed children through the cylindrical maze of the Punishment Pits. He would have likened the lot of them to ghosts passing on to “the other side.” He didn’t dare think of them all leaving for freedom. For home. The thought alone seemed dangerous, not that he was a superstitious troll. Now, however, was not the time to be tempting fate.

Didero wasn’t so exhausted as to not experience the mounting tension as their trek through the facility dragged on. Each step seemed to add to the threat of recapture, as well as escalated punishment. If it wasn’t from the fear itself, the painful pounding in his ribcage brought tears to Didero’s eyes. Despite his best efforts to stifle them, the tears overflowed and Didero ended up pulling his scarf tight over his face to muffle his sharp breathing as he trudged. He wanted his lusus. The rebels rescued him—they’d certainly rescue his lusus too. If not, then who?

But they didn’t. Didero didn’t realize this until he was far removed from the building, making no move to turn back as the lot of them were herded through passages in a carefully-selected route down the mountainside. Didero felt the tension of uncertainty resolve into a knowing dread. He was pulled out of the pits, but he was every bit as helpless as he was when the research facility had first been gassed. No amount of “freedom” would change that for Didero. His lusus, his one, designated protectorate had been completely useless in that fight, and now Didero didn’t even have that.

Didero’s arm burned.
