A trip. That was indicative. Aandes scooped under Rasali and popped up on the other side, snapping at his sides. He stalked around her.
She wasn't totally enthused with the dance and had wasn't completely on her game - something was amiss. With her response, he targeted her anxiety. It couldn't have been him - she'd gained somewhat of a tolerance to him at this point. Not the dancing - she was nothing if not shameless and wouldn't notice if her moves stunk anyway. Old Hemisect, then. Brilliant. Aandes raised his brows and frowned, pulled her in tight, and dipped her.
"It's just so sad that you couldn't help the lowbloods be in a better state. I can't imagine how many lives depended on it,"
Aandes put emphasis on every word he could get away with without smiling.

[ Rasali quickly worked her way back into the rhythm of the dance, but it was too late. Aandes had picked up on her anxiety and zeroed in. She tried not to wince.
Rasali's horns nearly brushed the ground. She could have sworn the words she had just heard were hallucinated by the sudden head rush. Aandes did not just say that to her face.
Rasali came back up from the dip with a tightly controlled expression. She couldn't afford to make a scene. Coolly she extracted herself from Aandes grip and segued into a spin.
"Such things can't be helped when lowblooded services are so woefully understaffed. Surely you must have realized from our current venue such matters are not the Empire's top priority."
Rasali smiled small and sweet. "Well I suppose I don't need to tell you that. We are both greenbloods after all!" ]

Troll: Keionx Rutace Partner: Vremea Everai Keionx had never thought of herself as 'butchering' the language. Nor had she ever thought of herself as 'reanimating' it either, though in a sense she was bringing back a dead form of Alternian, with all the groans and twitches of undead corpsehood.
To her, the old legends and tales, and the language of those old legends and tales had never died. She could pick them up again and they'd be there, fresh and alive as before.
She frowned for a moment, thinking of Zariah, before smiling confidently. ”Mine lusus doth not leave mine brother lightly!” she said, ”There are protections, and many doors and walls in mine hive, and he – likely – stayeth in his room.” she nodded, not so much proud as pleased, ”He is safe, and so...” or so-eth? Mmm... A hard call. ”And thus...” – a much better choice of words ”doth Beastdad leave. He would not if he thought otherwise.” There was a little worry, a little bit of sanity that was concerned for her brother, all alone when he could barely open a single door... but Zariah liked to be alone, and Beastdad would be home soon enough to take care of him.
Keionx had other things to worry about – like making sure that Vremea didn't hurt herself! Keionx, in a more stable posture (and with more practice with staying stable) helped to support Vremea as she regained her footing.
Soon, though, Keionx was reeling herself – not in her dancing, which quickly adapted, but within. She blushed a rusty, brief orange. ”Ah... D-dress... up?” she asked in an uncharacteristic squeak, her face – for the moment – not of the heroic knight but more appropriate to the little troll girl that she was. The words were almost alien to her, though of course she had 'dressed up' as monsters and famous heroes and, of course, she flarped.
But she also knew that, for people as feminine and beautiful as Vremea it had a different meaning. ”You mean... with dresses? And makeup? And jewelery? And... shoes?” she whispered it as if it was almost a dirty word, glancing towards her Lusus her accent and strange speech – for the moment - stalled. It was clear from her face that she very much would want to. Very, very, very much so.
But then she recovered, her face breaking into an energetic smile as she led Vremea in a turn. ”I accept thy invitation!” she said happily, her manner of speech firmly in place, ”It shall be of great delight to mine bloodpusher to visit thine hive, and...” she said, in all honesty (though all of what she said, with or without the accent, was completely austere), ”I am relieved, truly, that thy hive escaped damage... Did... was the library similarly blessed?” she asked, with another furtive glance at Beastdad as they passed by his pleased features. She didn't want him to hear about the whole 'dress up' thing. If it was, as she thought it was, then she knew well his opinion on dresses and fancy shoes. It wasn't good, and she didn't want to upset him, just as she didn't want to tell him that she had slipped from her strict diet once or twice while in Chittentown, and had maybe forgotten her morning exercises (in lieu of construction) here or there...

Ah. That explained it. Poor Zariah, but then again, if he liked it, who was she to judge? She listened to Kei a little longer after they changed positions to a firmer one, but Vremea just tripped again, expression morphing into one of fright. Barely dodging her feet, the obvious klutz made her way following the seemingly experienced pro, looking better than normal due to Keionx's flair and making Kei look better because she was wearing something a little more feminine.
Watching the expression on. Keionx's face start completely orange then change to excited made Vremea curious. Definitely. "You would only participate if you really wanted to." She said a little hesitantly, unsure if she'd like it... Had she never dressed up with someone? She seemed awfully excited... Her format even skipped a bit from how fazed she was... But in the end, her expression changed to one of certainty, which pleased Vremea. "Oh, that is very amazing! Really, I am very excited for this... I can explain to you how to walk— in heels!" Her eyes sparkled more and she kept tripping over, which in turn made her almost bump into someone. She looked to the ground and frowned, apologizing before starting with Kei again, knowing she was a problem.
Hearing her question about her hive, Vremea couldn't help but chuckle. "The library is quite the sturdy building, believe it or not." Vremea stated, regaining her posture and returning to the dance, chuckling. "And thankfully so. I was starting to worry if I would ever be able to get back to my books!" Okay, she didn't own them, sure, but it was still her libraries book. Which meant it was hers. Sighs. Maybe Vremea was just overprotective over them... current points total: 38 + 5 + 2(normal) +3(writing)= 48 points!

Troll: Skaeys Fallin Partner: Nervit Lafute
Skae squeaked as he tripped, thankfully letting go of Nervit right before she stumbled, putting her just out of reach of his clumsiness. He let out a little peep of embarrassment, the color that had just started to fade on his face came back with a vengeance. Dancing really didn't look like it was his thing, but he had wanted to try something new so very badly. It was...backfiring on him something spectacularly though. What was worse, was that he was making such a fool of himself AND his partner. A troll as pretty as she was shouldn't have to deal with someone who had two left feet, like he did apparently.
He could just hear the high bloods laughing at him....

Troll: Nervit Lafute Partner: Skaeys Fallin
Nervit felt sorry for poor Skaeys. The other had obviously never danced before - and didn't have the experience of watching other dancers like Nervit had. As the other lowblood tripped and fell, Nervit lunged to try and catch him, but failed. Sympathy was heavy on Nervit's face as she helped Skaeys up, and she tried to keep the pace a little slower this time ; that'd make them both less likely to trip. Thankfully the music seemed to agree, so Nervit led them both slowly across the floor in a waltz like movement.

Troll: Keionx Rutace Partner: Vremea Everai In heels?! Keionx remembered vaguely trying on heels in a clothing store. Once. Beastdad had not been happy, and had forbade her from wearing them. They were terrible to fight in, he had said, and impractical besides. She had to wear clothes and shoes that would stand up to serious knightly business.
And so the pretty sequined impractical things had been left alone. ”If thou teachest me...” she said, ”I wouldst be willing to learn!” delighted was definitely the word. Keionx put an arm around Vremea and steered her away from the near collision, her surprising battlefield dance floor adroitness making it seem as though Vremea's stumble and near collision was a completely intentional and possibly elegant move. She glanced at the couple to make sure they weren't thinking about retribution – which would be perfectly acceptable, and which would require her to try to protect Vremea - but it looked as though they hadn't even noticed.
Good. Keionx wasn't sure if she could dance and fight at the same time, similar as they might be. She dismissed Vremea's apology with a smile.
”I am gladdened! If it doest not need repairs, then I can spare the material for others!” Keionx said, relieved. She had been getting around to inspecting the library, but if it was fine, then she could work on making the other hives sturdy... and nice, because that mattered too. ”It is open, I presumest? I would desire to visit, and set down to read – it hath been some time since I had... time.” she said. Of the things she missed on her great and wonderful adventure away from home, she missed her stories most. Current point total: 48+5

Leaning against the wall and watching the dance was a small figure in a large poncho, complete with a face-obscuring hood. Watching the other trolls shuffle around on the dance floor, her foot tapped in time with the band. This was no fun. Looking around, sharp eyes spotted a younger troll on the sidelines. Striding over, confidently, she bent down over them, seemingly enjoying the chance to feel taller than someone. The face under the hood was that of a smug looking teenage troll, one of those vaguely familiar faces that you might have seen on tv once. "Hey, redblood!" Taking a step backwards, she jerked her head at the floor, did a little hop-skip, and snapped both fingers. Ole. "Let's dance." Total: 6

Aandes scrutinized her, but she was doing a spin. He'd have to get closer. He stepped up to her, nearly chest to chest. "Absolutely. I suppose just dropping the matter is simplest when one is dependent on the Empire. Can't be helped; I'm sure you did the best you could, given the circumstances."
He managed his footwork to allow himself access to her expressions. Other, taller dancers swished around them. Aandes' expression softened. "I'm sorry. I shouldn't have brought up a sore subject. I haven't seen you in a while - I was worried."
He frowned and gave her some space.

[ Rasali was trying not to narrow her eyes at Aandes. Her efforts were aided by Aandes' sudden proximity, which Rasali hadn't been anticipating. She blinked in surprise and her head cleared enough for her to get back into the groove.
Despite the fun of dancing, Rasali couldn't help but be a bit sad. If it had been anyone but Aandes, she probably would have appreciated an opportunity to talk about her feelings on recent events. It had been so long since she'd last seen Ganyma... Not that he was really good for in-depth feelings jams either, but Rasali was woefully strapped for friends she could trust with the details of her involvement with the rebels.
Aandes was in Rasali's face again, with his soft eyes and his sad voice. If Rasali had been in any other mental state, she probably would have groaned. Instead, Rasali just smiled. ]

Quietly standing against the wall of the room, Odette was the dictionary definition of a wallflower. She held her hands to her chest, eyes darting around for an open partner. There were so many trolls, yet none of them were alone! She watched the trolls dance by her with a hint of envy, reaching out to them with her eyes. Tapping her feet idly to the music, she just hoped some stray hand would just reach out and whisk her away. She could be a good dance partner, once she got over the initial awkwardness... The mysterious troll strode over to Odette, and the small redblood was suddenly struck with panic. It was a good panic, though. Not the kind that makes you fear for your life. No, it was a happy, albeit nervous panic. As the hooded troll came closer, Odette found herself mesmerized by her movements. The swagger in her hips, the confidence in her gaze, the pep in her step! It was enough to send Odette into a tizzy. The other troll did her dance, and a moment later Odette shook her head as if she woke from some trance. Odette stared, wide-eyed, trying to figure out what to say. After a lengthy awkward pause, the little redblood pulled one foot behind the other and dipped her chest in an elegant curtsy. "It is my pleasure," Odette replied, outstretching her hand, "Let's."Total: 6 + 4 + 3 + 1 = 14!

Hearing her excitement toward the dress up idea only made Vremea's mood brighten, letting Kei guide and slightly impressed by the way she held herself as they danced. Deciding to try a bit harder to reach Keionx's level(as it seemed quite un-reachable— she was like a master or something) Vremea made the effort to try and dance like her, letting herself calm down and follow her lead almost exactly, thankful she was learning/following her correctly. "The is great! I am very excited to hear this! When would you like to get together?"
Keionx's happiness for the buildings uprightness only made Vremea smile a little, threading the loose hair strands that had escaped her hairstyle behind her ear. She instantly nodded at her question. "Of course! It is open for quite a while, actually. Though I only work there during the early night." She murmured in response, half listening, half trying to dance properly, feeling a little self-conscious that she was dancing wrongly... current points total: 48 + 5 + 5(normal) +3(same number) +1(odds) +3(writing)= 65 points!

Troll: Skaeys Fallin Partner: Nervit Lafute
Skae had some trouble stopping the soft peeping that kept escaping him as he took the offered hand. "I'm sorry, thank you." He murmured, the words nearly incomprehensible due to the overlaying warble. "Never done this before." He muttered, eyes dropping to their feet before snapping back up. He'd heard once that you shouldn't watch where you were stepping when you danced, it only made it easier to mess up.
For some reason the current song was easier to move to, for him to follow her movements. While he was in no way a good dancer, he was certainly a passable one.
For the time being.
