Any help would be awesome!~ biggrin If they are willing to give it up that is.
Yeah, my bet is they won't though. If what they said about the security breach is true, with the code on our hands, we'd have direct access to just about all of Gaia. Chances that we'd get the code is slim to none. I still think they should recycle the game/physics engines, sprites, and scripts though...
What if they background checked everyone who was going to have access and had a dev monitoring them. That way gaia is assured that they are not getting a nefarious person coding for them. I know none of us are nefarious but gaia does not know that. I would also code if I knew how. I should learn for work so it can be another skill set.
Even with a background check, we'll be handling copy-righted information on our personal computers. Unless we install some sort of program that monitors everything, I believe this is illegal for big companies like gaia. >.<;
I do not understand how it would be illegal for gaia to do that/this.
Copyright issues and laws.

Gaia owns the stuff, though, right?
Yes, Gaia owns the stuff, but we don't, and by looking through their code, we could be violating the copyright laws. We could "steal" the information.

As a programmer and a zOMG player I have a mighhhty need to get a crack at the source code to see if it can be fixed, if it actually needs to be fixed. I'm so confident that if it does exist that it can be fixed. What does everyone else think?
It can be fixed. It does not need to be fixed (but it would be nice if it was). I think we need someone to recreate zOMG from the ground up.

Recreating zOMG wouldn't be too hard either, they have the assets to remake where the game stopped, content wise at least...

as a programmer you should know that ZOMG is not open source, and you accessing it or altering it would be copyright infringement and get you an account ban probably.
sorry to be the bearer of unwelcome tidings sad
i take it you know actionscript then? i have been making an mmo in VB, i have been considering scrapping it and giving myself some hardcore training in either actionscript, or unity.
have you seen unity? this might be the way forward...... what do you think (other than "oh n03z vb lol")

Already been there. I only issues recompile the god-damn client-end

Unity needs time to get used to it.

I'm aware it's not open source, sadly, I was just making an attempt at them to see if they were willingly to reach some sort of agreement on some level. Yea, I know Action-script. omg no I totally get the noob thing considering a lot of programming forums have assholes on it. I use Unity, and I suggest Unity. Just get ready to read up on C#. It's got a confusing interface but it's easy to get used to. What sucks more is it can't be copied either or "too similar" or else I'd already have a Unity project started. D:
PS I'd love to talk programming any time if you ever want to! 3nodding

Did you already clone zOMG? Wouldn't that upset in place copyright issues?
The only problem I see with cloning is player models, would use sprites made in a customization screen? Considering we can't pull player sprites from Gaia's.

Im aware of that. Done that just for fun and also out of curious because Gaia claim it's too "hard" to revamp zomg
