Nilah44 Welcoming egg: Oh hello! The Welcoming egg's warm presence brushes against the edge of Vesin's awareness, not wishing to invade her privacy too much. It hopes she is having a good time here, has she met its siblings?... Oh she has her own siblings? Wonderful! The warmth reaching Vesin's mind intensifies; this egg feels that it is important to share close bonds with others. It does not seem to be in a hurry for Vesin to leave it, her company is most welcome.

Fadrin was terribly excited to be attending the Touching. Murmurs had been swirling through the Candidate ranks and, having never been so close to the fabled Dragon Eggs, he was anxious to take the opportunity to discover what they had to offer. As the explanation came down, he nodded his understanding and stepped out into the Sands to greet the Gold before moving to a good starting place - he figured beginning at one end of the clutch and working through it made the most sense. He'd get to see them all, yes, but no sense in dashing to and fro... he'd rather not garner the mother's ire.
Pausing as he stepped up to the Shrieking Egg, Fadrin glanced around for his comrade Kylerr. They'd spent quite a bit of time together and Fadrin couldn't help but be eager to experience this with the Harper-in-training. He was sure the poems and songs the other youth would write would be fascinating.
Turning his attention back, he put his hands to the first egg and immediately recoiled, gasping at the intensity of the mental shriek. It left him dazed and feeling cold... confused as to the reaction. Is this what every egg was like? He tried again, steeling himself for the onslaught and sought for something other than the battle cry and buffets and rejection. When he gave up, he was left rather confused... he couldn't decipher why the egg was so incensed.
He glanced at his friend, "Careful with this one."
A little hesitant, he moved on to the next egg. When he touched the Guarding Egg, its quietness was in such contrast to the first that he immediately felt concern for the health of the dragon within. He reached internally, searching, and finally the egg sent an impression of approval his way. Relieved, he smiled as he rubbed his hand over the smooth surface, glad that the egg wasn't in trouble.

Kylerr felt his first wave of uncertainty that morning as he sat through the refresher. Although he knew and had heard so much, he hadn't yet actually -experienced- the things he'd been able to sing about. He took a few deep breaths as the group was herded over to the Sands, trying to keep his stomach below his throat.
He felt like a silly child around these other Candidates his own age who had already done this three or four times. At least he knew there was one in the same boat as he was... where was Fadrin?
As he stepped out, however, he was immediately overwhelmed by Banshidheth and stood gazing at her for a moment before he remembered himself and gave her a profound salute and humbly made his way over to her eggs.
He found Fadrin had entered shortly before he did, and followed behind the hold farmhand.
He nodded as Fadrin gave him the warning, and reached his hand out regardless. If he was going to be a rider, he would need to face things head on sometime.
He felt the scream of the screeching egg straight through to the back of his head, rocking him back and bringing his hand off the shell. He narrowed his eyes and settled on it, fully resting his palm on it when he rocked back forward. Not that easily, you won't! he thought at it. And he couldn't get any further... with anything. Action, thought, anything. He seized up, and his mind started to panic. He kept trying to retrieve his hand, and eventually he succeeded.
"No kidding," he said to Fadrin, cradling his hand for some reason. It didn't hurt.
He moved on to the Guarding Egg with the same hand and, upon resting his hand on its shell, felt like it still hadn't contacted anything. It was a stark contrast to the first egg, and he aimed his thoughts deeper, reaching...
The kiss of the dragon's awareness was cool, soothing the burn from the egg before. It was brief, but welcome, and set Kylerr's mind right again. It seemed to be telling him to stop trying so hard and relax a bit. He thanked it as he felt it retreat back into the egg's depths.

"I do have my own siblings and I love them dearly. It is important to share close bonds with others, I don't know what I'd do without them" She said fondly. Ves stayed with the welcoming egg for a little bit longer than she had the previous eggs, but not quite as long as she had stayed with the gold. "Thank you..." She whispered to the welcoming egg before moving on. She didn't move far, though, as she went to the egg right next to it. She placed her hands softly on the brown shell of the seeking egg.

Jamarin
Jamarin bared his teeth at the keep out egg as he removed his hands. “Well, Same to you too.” he growled at it.
He tried a smile on Kalendol, putting his hands on Laughing egg as he watched her. “Well, it can go shove itself off.” he said – he certainly wouldn't shove her off.
Er... wait. He placed his hands on the Burning egg to hide his brief confusion. To be honest, he'd never really had a proper conversation with a woman before. A pretty woman. Who might be interested in him. He was no shy snowflake-wherry-thing, and wasn't one to stammer or cringe, but it was a little... new.
“Oh, me?” he said, his hands returning to his trousers, “I'm good. This is all real new for me.” he looked around, taking the oppurtunity to lope closer. “I'm Jamarin. What's your name?”
Jikkiri
Jikkiri smiled broadly at Vesin and gently took his hands from the golden egg – Best to let it have it's moment, eh? Heh. He took the egg's advice and touched the large Springing Egg right next door thoughtfully. It was so pretty and enormous... what could come from such an enormous egg?

Emmitod
Emmitod was not interested in having his private mind being invaded again. After the dancing egg was done with him, he drew away, uneasy, and interlocked his hands behind his back. He moved a ways away from the clutch and watched the truly interesting people – his fellow candidates. Not many drama's happening, not even mild ones: just lots of little reactions and interactions and boredom.
Boring!
There was always an oppurtunity for drama, and it just was a waste for it to not happen.
Which meant he had to change that.
Seeing something interesting budding over by the Gold Egg's portion of the clutch, he loped over towards Jamarin and Kalendol, smirking and waiting for the right oppurtunity to... 'strike'
Vesresh
Vesresh came back from the egg sensation with a beaming smile. “Wow...” he exclaimed, “I'm all right.” He was awed. He looked at his sisters. “Do they all feel... great? Like this?”
Of course Vesin had gone right to the gold egg: he bet she had a good chance at it. She was responsible and strong and awesome... though... he'd heard the wherholders were after changes, so maybe the gold egg wasn't such a instant ride into glorious heroism as it was in the stories...
He touched the Guiding egg and felt an inexorable sensation to Go touch my neighbor, go on, it's fine... dazed, he did so, placing his hands on the Invasive Egg

[ o o c ] is it okay that I now dislike emmitod? [ i c ] Kalendol smiled at Jamarin her head tilting to the side slowly as her hazel optics blinked upon him. He was currently growling at the egg, " You share similar ideas." Kalendol laughed behind her rawhide gloved hand, a smiling brightening her bubble gum colored lips. The seventeen turn old turned to another egg, laying her hand gently on it because why not? Kalendol's hand slid delicately over the surface of the egg directly next to the Laughing Egg, keeping near Jamarin but not too close to cause unwarranted suspicion. Her eyes scrolled over Jamarin and offered him another smile, " I'm Kalendol." Her voice's affliction told one that she came from near Malvren, rather than near Benden. " Jamarin, I'll certainly remember it." The girl laughed, putting her hands behind her back. But, her hazel eyes went around at the other candidates, stopping as some boy looked towards them. A bright blush covered her cheeks, ' Why are all the boys looking at me today?' She wondered, but smiled politely at Jamarin. He had her attention.

xXsexxeh_rinnyXx ((I'm his player and I don't like him XD)) Jamarin“Huh...?” Similar ideas...? Well he supposed he did. He was kinda snappish, and he did like to keep people away... most people anyway. Jikki kept trying to bring them in, though, and there was only so much a man could handle before it just got... out of hand. “I'll give yours a try m'self.” he looked around, licking his lips nervously, “So... you ever been to one of these before?” he asked. JikkiriJikkiri looked over at his twin – just checking of course, to make sure Jamarin was all right. He seemed fine: he was even talking to a girl! That was always a good thing! He didn't do that often... not in a flirty way, anyway. Vee was a little different. He smiled warmly – good for Jamjam. EmmitodEmmitod caught Kalendol looking at him and gave her his best charming grin and playful wink as he approached, his stance slouching, slightly more predatory than before. He didn't catch the boy's name, but clearly they were inexperienced and flirting. The perfect target for some drama. It would be easy – too easy – but emmitod didn't mind easy when it suited him. “Well hello there.” he drawled to the two of them, “Nice conversation we're having here.

((Since I don't know how much time I'm going to have before the hatching starts, I'm just going to do these two. If I have time to post for the other eggs then I will.))
The egg was strangely silent. Maybe no one was home. Vos left the egg and turned to wander among the clutch. She stepped up to the Suspicous Egg and pressed her hand against the shell.
It was such a large clutch. Surely the parents had to be pleased. Indubitably the candidates were! The next egg she tried was the Dancing Egg. The color of its shell was so pretty. The teen pressed her hand up against the curve.

The red head blinked her hazel eyes and looked Jamarin over once more. 'Oh would he?' Her name was not as intriguing as some, and certainly more exotic than she'd expected considering most of these folks had J-names or V-names. But, she'd get around it eventually. "Mm, well, no. This is my first time. I just arrived in Benden." She blushed. Kalendol wasn't really good with talking about this sort of thing.
And then her head sort of whipped around, narrowing her hazel optics on his twin. She smiled warmly, her eyes half closing in delight at seeing someone who was somewhat similar to Jamarin's. She scratched the back of her head in thought, debating a few things. Slowly, she turned towards Jamarin, her eyes softening once more. Kalendol's lips parted slowly, "How about you? Is this your first time?" Her innocent hazel eyes searched Jamarin's face carefully.
As someone else approached, Kalendol watched him saunter in on his slouching style. He'd grinned at her, winked at her even. 'How pathetic.' She thought with ease, and then as he came forward, all half cocked, she put her hands on her hips and shifted her weight to her left foot instead. She somewhat turned towards the other boy, Emmitod. "Hello." Kalendol blinked her eyes carefully. "Indeed, we were having a nice conversation. Might I ask who you are?" She grinned calmly, her hazel eyes flashing in irritation as she clearly made a distinction that she and Jamarin were talking whereas Emmitod was an outsider in this A and B conversation.

JikkiriJikkiri noticed Kalendol looking and gave her a cheerful little wave before putting his hands on the Crystallized egg, looking away slyly. It was his brother she should be paying attention to, after all, not him. Jamjam needed more attention, poor dear. Jamarin“Yeah.” said Jamarin, “Never seen a clutch of dragons before...” He looked down at the eggs, “Pretty big though.” whether he was commenting on the size of the clutch or the size of the eggs, it was hard to tell. “You?” He was just starting to relax when the other man approached. “Yeah, we were.” he said, tensing again, glaring at the older candidate. Something about his smug demeanor just rubbed him the wrong way to start, and Jamarin had always taken first impressions pretty seriously. Especially when they weren't good. “Don't you got eggs to touch?” EmmitodEmmitod was enjoying the reactions, though the girl's annoyance was less than ideal. It was interesting, though - Very interesting. The boy, however, was completely predictable. “M' name's Emmitod. I was flown all the way from Malvren, y'know.” he said, amused, as if the distance made him somehow more than the Benden candidates. Not that he wasn't already. “I'm a candidate. What about you two? I saw you at the Question and Answer session... You...” he gave Kalendol a smug, sly smile, “Asked all those 'nsightful” questions...” Arrogance and confidence seemed to ooze from every pore of this young man. He was older than them both, and he knew it. “So, have anything more 'nsightful than asking my name, lovely?”

" No I've never seen..." She stopped and then Kalendol blinked and her eyes went hard as she stared up at the older boy, her pink lips pursing in distaste at his arrogance. Uncomfortably, she wrapped her arms self-consciously around her thin frame and then bit her lip. " I'm from... near Malvren, that don't make you better'n us." The girl whispered softly and then seemed to slightly hover closer to Jamarin as the boy was suddenly directing his conversation straight to her. She immediately found herself not enjoying this boy's company at all. Annoyance long gone, and all that was left in Kalendol's eyes was discomfort as they looked over Emmitod. " Naturally we're candidates. We wouldn't be on the sands if we weren't." She muttered more to herself than to the boy. Then her hazel eyes flashed towards Jamarin and then back to the older candidate. " I saw you as well." She was trying to smile, but her voice was more a whisper now, her discomfort growing. Then he'd made it that much worse. Lovely. As the word rolled off of his lips, a shudder of revulsion rolled through the girl's spine and she tightened her arms around herself, her eyes hardening to glare up at him. " My name is Kalendol, not lovely. And I don't think I have a need ta do anything more 'nsightful for you." She snapped, simply because she was uncomfortable. Turning her back on the older boy, her attention was once more focused to Jamarin.

Jamarin
Jamarin felt his hackles go up at Kalendol's tone, that familiar feeling of wanting to sock someone in the face. Hadn't the candidatemaster said something about 'behaving' on the sands? That didn't matter to Jamarin – he didn't give a shaff about stupid things like rules. Not when this dirtbag made him feel like he needed to take a bath.
“You didn't answer my question.” he growled at Emmitod, moving to stand – somewhat subtly – between Kalendol and the older candidate. “Don't you have eggs to touch?”

TawnyAngel Invasive Egg: As soon as Vee lays her hands on its shell, the inhabitant dives straight into her mind without so much as a 'by your leave,' rummaging indiscriminately through her thoughts. What is Holdless? It sounds so...so scandalous! So thrilling! No time now, someone might be listening, but you are sharding well going to tell it everything you know once it gets out of here. ...if it remembers by then. Who gave dragons such rotten memories, anyhow? More importantly, why? It reeks of conspiracy, wouldn't you agree? Nilah44 Seeking Egg: What have we here? Another set of hands, another mind to be inspected. With interest, but not excitement, the occupant pores over Vesin's thoughts like a book, with the occasional pause to read between the lines. It gives no indication of what it thinks of what it finds, or what it's even looking for, and leaves behind only a trace of cool, unsettling calm. Draconic Feline Laughing Egg: The egg greets Jamarin's touch with a reflexive but genuine welcome, although a sense of vague concern soon follows it. There is so much anger in you, such chaos! How do you bear it? While there is disapproval, there is also pity, and a desire to soothe the candidate. The being within effuses one last wave of peace at him before retreating away. Burning Egg: The egg remains quiet when touched, although unlike the Dud Egg, it is clear that there is a presence here. It offers no acknowledgement, and nothing at all of itself. Springing Egg: GYAAAH! The very moment Jikkiri's fingers brush its shell, the inhabitant of the Springing Egg broadcasts loudly and enthusiastically into his mind, the attempt to startle him quickly followed by raucous laughter. If only it could see your face right now! That's the problem with being stuck in an egg, you can't see anything! All the same, it's sure you made an awesome face, but then, it supposes you wouldn't know, because you couldn't see it, either. Aww, man. Invasive Egg: Oh, Vesresh, you're boring. You're too young to have any really interesting secrets, too good. Although...are you really? The egg suddenly becomes suspicious, and its digging intensifies. No one is good all the time! What are you hiding? There must be something! It knows it's there, if only it could just find it! When it doesn't find what it wants, the creature withdraws to brood. Shaff you, kid! Crystallized Egg: Oh, hello! The egg responds to Jikkiri's touch with a soft-voiced but no less friendly greeting, full of sympathy and hope for the lovely, loving boy. You're very nice, and that's very nice for you. As with all the other candidates, however, he soon loses its attention, and it drifts off to think on other things. magnadearel Suspicious Egg: Despite the barrier of its shell, the dragon in this egg gives the impression of staring at Vosin. Hard. It doesn't trust you, not at all! And you remind it of someone who was just here, which is strange, and deepens its mistrust. The presence jabs at her, analyzing her mind and intentions, and is somewhat placated upon discovering her sense of responsibility and family...but soon scowls again when it unearths her rowdiness. Get out of here, take your hasty self somewhere else! Dancing Egg: This egg's inhabitant stares at Vosin, too, but unlike it's larger, grumpier neighbor, it doesn't stay annoyed, and extends it's thoughts to her with curiosity. And, also unlike its neighbor, it happily approves of Vosin's wilder side. What good is life if you don't enjoy it, after all? Appreciation soon turns to envy, though, as the Dancing dragon can't enjoy itself just yet, and pushes the candidate away, resentful.

Emmitod
“Good, good. I'm bettin' that there'd be trouble if people who weren't candidates were on the sands.” said Emmitod smoothly. Things were going so wonderfully. Even if the girl didn't want to give him the time of day... clearly the boy did, which livened up this boring invasive baby dragon... thing.
All according to plan.
“Such a shame then. I was trying not to be seen at the Question and Answer, so the fact that you saw me... I'm intrigued.” honestly, he wasn't that good at hiding... but... He took a daring step forward – daring considering he was being dismissed, and he knew it. “Maybe you should reconsider...” he stopped, because the boy from before was now blocking his path.
Emmit looked him up and down, smug as a feline. He was no fighter, not really. He was fierce on the rare occasions when he could be bothered, but it was obvious that the younger candidate was a hell of a lot stronger than him.
He smiled. He didn't care.
“Yes, I do.” he said, “But I'm tired of them.” he dropped his voice to a whisper, “So I'm moving on to other eggs... if you know what I mean.” It was very clear that he wasn't talking about dragon eggs now. And, he was pretty sure he didn't have a chance with the girl... not that it mattered. The young lady was lovely, he was sure – weren't they all – but, right now, the boy was being much more interesting.
