That was an interesting twist. A brow arched, smile sobering thoughtfully as he looked up at the other man. Again he leaned forward, both feet on the ground now so he could rest his elbows on his knees. If he was bothered by Zac's anger it didn't show. If anything he looked more interested, as if he'd finally done something worth noticing. "Like you didn't mind what you were looking at," he answered, voice matter of fact and devoid of any teasing now. "And of course not as obvious as me or Ever, we're perfectly comfortable in preferences." His head tipped at a soft angle to one side. "You, I'm not sure about."

He started to say something, looked away his lips pursed together like he were holding back whatever word had come to mind just then, turned back and opened his mouth as though he’d found some preferable option but instead all that escaped was an exasperated sigh. He held up his hands as though to say “Well, there you have it’ and let them drop again with a clap against his sides, the books muffling half of it. “And… It’s you’re solemn duty to, what, tease me into further consideration on the subject, mock me out of the closet?” He stopped suddenly, squaring his shoulders and looking thoughtful. “That’s… a but of what you meant when you said toxic isn’t it.” He said quietly, the anger abating it seemed with the realization.

Tanned fingers laced together as he watched Zac discard several responses before that surrendering gesture. Zeke had half expected more anger, an out burst of some kind, but this? This was better. Lips gave a twitch as the smaller man stumbled onto his previous logic, broad shoulders rising in a small shrug. "Just a bit." As for the rest. "It's not my duty to do anything, though I will be very honest with you, it brings me great joy, pushing people's buttons." He didn't see any reason to lie, it gained him nothing. "If you want to stay in the closet, you go right ahead, I won't out you." Features hardened, just a touch. "It's a little stupid though, isn't it? Special here, when we never really know what's coming for us." Why the ******** would anyone choose to live in denial when they could be out enjoying themselves? Ezekiel just didn't ******** get it. "Self realization, mate."

“Oh aye, and if you think you know everything about yourself, its time to take another look. That’s a fact of life.” His hand curled into a fist and then released again. “It’s not something I had time to think about before. I don’t know that I think it’s any different than getting hit by a car, or stabbed in the street, we just know more of what’s waiting, we believe it, we see it.” He lifted his chin slightly. “So no…I didn’t mind what I saw, but damn if people don’t like to cling to the illusion of safety, But I’m already in line for the roller coaster ride.” He didn’t look ‘peaceful’ or nervous anymore, just taught like a bow string.

"Knowing what you want is a far cray from truly knowing yourself." Though Zeke would argue that he had a pretty unclouded view of himself. He wasn't a good guy, he didn't get off on doing the right thing, and he sure as s**t didn't give two ******** about the majority of people inhabiting the island. He was an a*****e, and he was selfish, and he put his own needs and survival above the rest. Toxic. Zac's chin came up, and Zeke was up and out of his chair before he'd reached his final point. Two steps, and he was looming over the shorter man, two fingers coming up to press into the underside of his chin, lifting his head as he leaned over him. "But safety is so boring." This close he could feel the air between them warming, and a hard thought would have had them touching, but Zeke didn't close that gap. He stood there, one arm braced against the wall behind zac, the other keeping the Sun from looking away.

Warmth… heat, tension, the space between them could have thrummed, like the promise or the anticipation of sound, though by no means a given that the sound that held its breath, waiting would be a good sound. There were, most assuredly, reactions. The bob of his Adams apple at the light touch under his chin, the way he didn’t quite instinctually meet Zeke’s gaze, then fought to hold it. “So is predictability.” He replied, hands curling and uncurling with indecision. “I’d ask you what you thought the most predictable thing to do was, but… I think then you’d just choose the answer you liked best. “So what if I did let you get your, tentacles on me.”

"You're right, it definitely can be, but...it has it's perks" There was something to be said about knowing what to expect with certain people. It was almost a rush. The flick of Zac's eyes away, brief and instinctual, before they snapped back to meet his own. And the effort it took to keep them there was evident. He was dragging the Sun out of his comfort zone, and the results were quite rewarding. "I think my answer would depend on what specifically you're asking." He still hadn't moved, not closer, not lower. "If you mean in this instance... I think the most predictable thing would be a stole kiss, but," he laughed, low and gruff, shifting his grip on Zac's chin so he could turn his head slightly to one side. Now he bent lower, breath warm against the poor Sun's neck as he spoke. "It wouldn't be boring." That much was for sure.

He bit his lip, hissing air out between his teeth and closing his eyes for a moment, unsure how to reconcile the frustration and the other feelings. For a moment he wrapped his fingers in the chest of Zeke’s shirt like he might pull him closer, like HE might steal the kiss. But then he shoved backwards, pushing himself against the wall, and Zeke back as far as he could, shaking his head vigorously, cheeks flushed. “No… that is, defiantly not boring, but… not something for the library either, right?”

Pale eyes watched that bite of lip, and he smirked, drifting close enough that his mouth brushed that tanned skin in the faintest touch. There were fingers wrapping into the front of his shirt, and for just that moment he didn't know which way the smaller man would sway. Then he was pushing against him, forcing him back a step, and the Mist let his hand fall away, both up in an 'I give' gesture. He'd made his point, obviously, and there wasn't any need to push thing further. For now. "No, not something for the library." Large hands sank into his pockets.

“You’re something else.” Zac said shaking his head in frustration, tugging his shirt out of where he’d tucked it so he could better hide the rising problems he was still trying to deal with. “Satisfied with yourself?”

"Good of you to notice." Hadn't he been trying to say that earlier? The smirk was easy, pleased, and hazel eyes ticked down to the problem Zac was trying to hide with the fall of his shirt. "Of course I am. It's all fun, Zac." A little of that mocking air left him, and he looked down at the Sun with a more serious expression. "if you want to peek a little further outside the safety of your closet, I'm not hard to find."
