He had been moving to get up, to leave Al and his questions behind, but a hard yank on his jacket shoved him back down. Thrown back and sat on, he felt the weight of not only the hunter like a ton of bricks, but how heavy all his limbs felt. It was that warning sign that he was getting too close to having drag himself off the training fields or not at all.
He didn't have much energy left and whatever he could do, he had to do it now or else he stuck under Al and his oppressive accusations.
The question only sparked the past anger again, but it lacked the energy to do much with it. "You really think I want people dead?" He said, glaring up at the hunter. He tried pathetically to shove him away again, but it was just as weak as before.
"He won't die. He'll come back. Even if he gets lost. He'll come back." He'd have to.

"I guess that answers my question, whether you wanted it to or not." Al still stubbornly stayed put on top of Melvin. Even giving his butt a little twist from side to side.
"I don't really hate you you know. I mean, when you show that you're not just some self righteous robot. You can be okay." He rolled his eyes. "You should really learn to act like a human sometimes."

He laid there.
He couldn't fight. He just laid there. What did it even matter.
"Glad I'm here to make you feel better about yourself." He managed, and just let Al do whatever the hell he wanted.
His pride was hurt too much to take more of a beating.
"And I don't try to do anything. I'm a person. I'm not pretending to be a - a robot. Like, really? Is that what you think I want?"

Al nodded, "it's what you come across as to me." He slid off Melvin to turn and look him square in the eye. "It feels like you care way more about everything being perfect and that you are never wrong. Everyone can be wrong. But this is a ******** place of short life spans man. Just ******** say you're wrong sometimes and move on. Life is too short and you don't want harsh words or thoughts to be someone's last ******** memory of you."
He gave a playful but slightly too hard punch against Melvin's upper arm, "unless you're into that s**t, then you truly are a robot."

He sat up, rubbing the spot where Al punched him.
His words stung deeper than what Al probably intended. Last words were not something he liked to dwell on - as he spent too much time replaying last moments too much in the past months. Last words. Last night. Last moments. Last touches. Late time important words were spoken. Last treasured little gestured.
"No. Not what I want." He said, his voice now a low, just above a whisper.
He continued rubbing his upper arm before he stopped and simply squeezed the spot around it. "I never wanted him sent away. We got into a fight. We always get into fights. He said something to be I just couldn't forgive. He strangled me. I shot him. ....we got too much into it. It wasn't the place for it. The Infirmary. We both got no-weapon bracelets and I know we deserve it, but Rep's already been on thin ice since forever ago. So that's why he's there. It wasn't like we planned on that happening." He admitted, and then tried to get up, feeling worn down all over.
"I don't want anything to happen to him. I just hate him right now for what he said." He didn't look at Al as he said this, feeling sick inside. He was alone now because of that fight, even more than before. He had so desperately wanted Rep on his side, to be fighting alongside him and excited about the prospect of bringing the person close to both of them home.
Now he had to do it alone, and that meant if he failed, it would be all on him.
"Are we done here? Are you satisfied or do you want to beat the s**t out of me some more?"

Al finally seemed satisfied by Melvin's answer. Especially with all the 'we's in it. He was already carefully dusting himself off.
"Depends if you want to take more swings at me. My shield was about to pop, so you did a number yourself... but if you're implying I won..."
He turned with a bright toothsome smile, "Loser buying dinner?"

Melvin sat up, not wanting to move much now.
"Don't bullshit me. You look fine. I'm about to pass out." He said. He could tell when someone wasn't about to keel over. It was part of his job description in some ways.
"...if I buy you something from the vending machines, will you stop picking fights with me out of the blue?" He didn't feel as if he should be buying Al anything. The guy tricked him into a fight, blamed him, and then laughed in his face. Rewarding that behavior wasn't what he felt was right, but he also was on an empty tank and didn't want to deal with this many more. Buying him some chips just sounded like an easier solution.

"Yes," Al said cheerily as he tried to hook arms with Melvin, mostly to discreetly carry the blonde idiot. "But I don't think that counts as a dinner either. But in light of everything, I think I can let that slide." Al winked at Melvin.

He appreciated being helped up, but hooking arms with another guy was - a bit weird. The wink did not help, he and just looked at Al a moment.
"Well, unless there is a four star restaurant here, that's the best you are going to get." Because there was no way he was taking Al to eat with him at a restaurant.
That sounded too....datey.

"I've got leave for this month still," Al was smiling even bigger at Melvin. He had no idea what Melvin was thinking about, all he knew was maybe he'd get some free burgers at a McDonalds.
That'd make him forget the already forming bruises all over his person.

He just looked at Al, and slowly moved his arm out of the hook.
"Um.....I'm with someone." He said, not knowing how to break it to the man. Sure, Harrison might be saying some rude s**t on Twitter, but he felt he made it very clear that he was taken.

Melvin stared back. "Oh, wait. I - Nothing. It has nothing to do with that. Right. Yeah. Burgers and fries. Sure. That's fine. I mean, whenever you want. I think I have leave sometime. They let me keep that at least." He then stood there, silent, and then turned to head back to the base. "Just....text me or something."
