"No apologizin'," Chel said. "I'm bettin' it was funny as hell watchin' gay one and two brood about their grumpiness. Just sayin' for the future." She patted Abbi on the head. All was well.
The subject changed and Chel flicked Abbi on the nose. "Listen here. Yer gonna do something for me, and then I'll tell ya 'bout how I was or wasn't before this miserable sack ah crap I am now. Deal?"

"It was actually kind of funny... They were so mad, but its really hard to stay mad when you've got a limitless supply of Olive Garden breadsticks." Abbi shrugs, savoring the head pat from Chel more than she should. It had been so long since anyone had done that to her, such a simple gesture but something she'd forgotten she enjoyed. Maybe she ought to try and trick Jack into going on a date with Chel. Having just assumed they'd gone on a few before, the teen hadn't previously considered it something she should take into consideration. But with the way Chel had asked for the dates to stop, maybe Abbi should...
There is danger here, Viveca whispers that she should tread lightly, but Abbi barrels into the agreement with clenched fists leveled around her heart. "Deal!"

Chel eyed Abbi very carefully.
"Take a few steps back, put yer hands on yer hips and puff yer chest out real big."

Robin's egg blue eyes narrow at the mud-slathered-on-her-head-looking woman across from her, but Abbi still slid from the counter. What was this? Reluctant to deny Chel anything, the girl took a few steps away from the counter and placed her hands on her hips, though she curled her waist in because she wasn't ready for the puffed chest look just yet.
"You're not like... Gonna grab my boobs, are you? I know they do that in the anime's but um... I'd kinda prefer you... Didn't?" But still Abbi sucks in a breath and arches her back for Chel all the same.

"I don't grab tits unless it'd be followed by a hell yeah," Chel said, sticking out her tongue. She was fond of the boobs but not that fond geez.
Either way, she followed by saying, "Tell yerself yer real beautiful. Not cute or pretty, you gotta say ********' gorgeous or some s**t."

Ooooohhhhhh, she saw what she was getting at. A heavy sigh shrinks Abbi's elbows toward the center of her body and she gives Chel a flat look. "I would love to tell you that its hard for me to think I'm super awesome, but that's not true." Well, in a sense it isn't. So maybe Abbi doesn't think she is the worst, but she does think she's pretty swell. There's just a missing piece between Abbi thinking that and other people seeing it.
"I'm not here to rain on my own parade but... I think I'm cursed." The shrug she gives is so matter-of-fact it should be appalling, but Abbi has given herself this talk so many times she doesn't notice. "I'm broken. There's a faulty wire. I'm totally boss, but no one else sees it. Whateves." Talking about it feels weird, like shining the sun on an otherwise perpetually dark place. "Now you have to tell me about you before Deus."

"See that's why," Chel said, giving it to Abbi straight. "Ya won't really let yerself think other people find ya beautiful or wanna date you, so you think they never will." She quietly added, "M'not tryin' to scold you, 'cause I feel the same way. It's tough out there, I know it." Her hand was on her cheek, her mind elsewhere.
She held up the eyeshadow for Abbi to take and begin her artwork. "Which ******** up you wanna know about?" As in, there were many.

"I know people think I'm like... Pretty or whatever." She took the offered palette and flipped open the lid, frowning at the colors. So many options ah! Where did she begin? "No one wants to date me. No one ever has, no one ever will." The little brush was fished out and examined. There were remnants of a bronze color that Abbi didn't want so she set the tray down on the counter to wash out the sponge. "Its just the way things are. There are people who are alone forever, yanno? You're just not one of them."
Once the brush was rinsed out and dried with a ridiculous amount of paper towels Abbi indicated that Chel should sit on the counter. "Start at the beginning and finish when you are done." She told her with a small smile, half because it was a joke and half because she wanted to appear supportive.

Chel followed Abbi's direction and sat on the counter obediently. "God Abbi, write some ********' emo poetry in your journal dang girl." Chel whistled and tried to keep her face still for Abbi to paint. "I literally offered to date ya and you said no. So ya can't say nobody." Cheeky.
"Mmm. It all kinda blurs. I didn't really ever do the girlfriend thing proper. Slept around a lot- still did on the island. Never really broke hearts ... Well maybe I did, I don't know. I just always end things when I stop feelin' it, and let other people do the same." She shrugged. "Never been one for labels and titles. Just do what makes me feel good."
It felt really strange to talk about who she used to be. Now she was hopelessly chained to one person, with no hope of shaking off the shackles dragging her down into the water. "And now I'm in love with a dude that don't love me. 'Bout sums it up."

Again she laughs, dabbing the brush into a beige color she thinks is similar to Chel's skintone. "I'm good thanks. Not really a poetry-writing kinda girl. Just a straight talkin' kinda gal." Gently, as she's never done this before, Abbi scoots up close to her friend and swishes the brush against one crease of Chel's eyes. The color looks sudden and silly, but she doesn't let herself get too worried when it is only the first step and there are so many more to go. "Yeah, well I can't date you if you're promised to someone else."
But she goes quiet to listen, trying to imagine how jumping from one person to the next could be a blur. For Abbi, there have only been two people she's had the chance to court and they are still stark in her mind when she dares think of them. Right now she cannot ever consider the idea of them being fuzzy, but Viveca is gentle in her push that perhaps not everyone is the same as Abbi for a variety of reasons. "Did you have fun at least?" Its a lame question to ask, but its all she can think of.
Another swish is placed on the other eye, then the brush tapped out and a darker chosen to coat the rest of the lid. Blending is difficult for Abbi because it requires patience and she has begun to fret that she is doing this wrong, but she's got it after a few more attempts. "I wouldn't say that." She says quietly, blue eyes flicking to Chel's before they move back up to concentrate on the space above. "At least you can fall in love. And who ever really knows how other's feel... I think you're being harsh on yourself."

"Who am I promised to? I wasn't aware I was gettin' a weddin' ring?" She held up her hand, looking for the promised golden band, as though it was really going to be there. Faked shock struck her face when she found nothing.
Abbi poked her in the eye and she winced (she couldn't help that- natural bodily response), but said nothing. Abbi could poke her a thousand times in the eye and she still wouldn't mind. "Fun's relative. I suppose so, or I wouldn't 'ah done it."
She had a lot of questions (why couldn't Abbi fall in love? Did she know something about Jack's feelings that she didn't? Why couldn't she curb this desperation to know?), but simply responded, "Abbi he told me no and reminds me all the time 'bout his girlfriend. Dunno what clearer message he could make. M'not being harsh, it's fact."

A sour lemon face was Abbi's only reply to the dramatic pantomime from Chel, mostly because she knew what the teen had meant. The look melted into a whispered "Sorry! Sorry, I'm sorry!" when she accidentally poked her friend, her touch turning lighter as she started dabbing darker color onto her lids. "Did you ever have any serious lovers?"For a few moments she uses the palette to turn her gaze to, pursing her lips while she pokes through the shades and considers not only what to use next but also her answer. There is really no way for Abbi to know how Jack feels, only that he is undoubtedly unhappy with his current girlfriend and cares for Chel, else he wouldn't have told Abbi or asked for her opinion on the matter. It is just something the girl feels in her gut, an honest want of happiness for her friends. "You know better than anyone that a Jack 'no' is a negotiable point." He rarely told the girl 'no' anymore and meant it, so Abbi could only assume the same went for someone he honestly cared for and perhaps more. "Look... I'm... I'm sorry. I didn't mean to talk about this we can... Its just that... You and him! I just..." Abbi pulled back the brush and frowned down at it. "I just want you guys to be happy. And he's being dumb. And its hurting you and I wanna kick him for that."

"Serious lovers? Nah. Maybe in the beginning, but true love went out the window pretty fast from what I can remember." Undoubtedly being a spurned lover one too many times had caused her present day repulsion from the idea.
Although Chel also wasn't a reliable narrator. Her problem was always that she loved too hard or she didn't love enough. Jack and Nevada.
She listened to Abbi quietly, and the words did soften her a bit, but never enough. "Nah it's cool we can talk about it. I always been an open book." She smiled and said, "'Sides, I can't really talk about it to most my friends. You really think Finn's open to hearin' 'bout my shitty life choices?" She blinked a few times and said, "How's it lookin'?"
