Now that the log was clearly out of the way, Flame of the West turned around and surveyed his surroundings. More and more people were joining in to help now. That was a good thing, he thought to himself, but there was still a lot of work to be done.

Kiss of Death There were hoof prints in the mud. She followed the path until she had reached a small lake. Surprisingly, there were only bird feathers in th e lake and nothing unusual was dumped into it. Beside it on land, were more rotten fruit that got trampled on by various kin. She cringed her nose and started to move a medium sized rock out of the way. Someone or something could trip over it and fall into the lake. With great success, the rock was moved beside other rocklike objects. Kiss of Death returned to the lake and drank the water as she took a small break. The cold water was just what she needed to stay alert. MP: 396

Tipsy
She gave the pale acha a nod, before heading off to nap off some of what she'd imbibed. When she awoke, she cleared her head and thirst in the river, then shook off over the tilled land. She went to the back of the hollow to where she'd stored the straight sticks she'd been collecting the past year and started sticking them into the ground. This was a bit hard without a familiar, but she was determined. Eventually she had several tripods set up to her satisfaction. Her master plan was going to be amazing!

Re-rolling. I messed up. Sorry! This time, she moved a jarred log that stuck out from within the ground. If someone fell on that it could have meant instant death. Instead of it being in a vertical position, she headbutted the log really hard until it gave way and landed horizontally on the ground. Quickly, she used her back legs and her hooves to kick up dirt to keep the log in place. Nature will come in due time and decompose it.

Tipsy
The next step was the easiest. She had a gourd of carefully saved grape seeds, put one at a time into the tiny hole at the top. Now she bit it by the neck and went about shaking several seeds around the protected bases around the tripods. She was terribly excited about all this. The hollow had good light, and she planned to visit it once a week to take out any competition plants.

Peep had paused work and stood over her own little patch of seeds, in order to watch Tipsy at work. At first she was intrigued and then just downright impressed as the plan took shape. It all looked so elegant. Her own little seed plot didn't have quite so much going for it, but after one last look at the red Acha's work. Peep left and returned with some sticks of her own. Carefully she began placing them around her newly planted soil, making a little fence to warn other kin not to step on her hard work. MP: 378

She scampered about, delighted by Peep's evolving tactics. Perhaps she should have left the rocks as a boundary too! Well, it was too late for that. She would think of something else later. Right now she was carefully using her nose to cover dirt back over the seeds, to give them a little more protection from birds.

Now all she needed was to get her seeds some water. Peep trotted off to the nearest stream and spent some time wondering how to make it work. Her first few attempts all failed and eventually she had to put aside the leaf she had been using with a little sigh. Some more thought was necessary if her seeds were going to drink today. MP: 371

Tipsy She noticed Peep's quandary, and hooted to get her attention. "Hey, lady. You might find this a bit more helpful!" She tossed over a dried gourd. This one, like her seed one, was mostly intact save for a few small holes. Unlike the seed one, it looked like they'd been made by small insects, and were clustered at the small end. "You wedge it down in the rocks in the stream until the bubbles stop coming out of the holes, then bite the neck and tip it over the seeds. It takes a while, but at least the water gets to them." She bit a second one just like it by the neck and tipped her head in demonstration. MP: 369

(Why did Vesp not look at this sooner, this seems like so much fun DX) A bit of a late comer to the clean-up, Wren had mostly kept to herself so far. Her motives for being there were not entirely altruistic. In the chaotic wake of a mass gathering of kin, one never knew what she might find-- after all, as the saying went, one kin's trash, etc. etc. As a result, she had kept primarily to debris clearing, brushing away the dried remains of grassy beds, dismantling fire pits, redirecting streams-- little tasks she would join with a smile, contribute for a few moments, get a good look around. Occasionally Bane, foul of glance but ever faithful, would trot off into the trees with a little something she'd found - a feather, a shell, once even a small skull set with stones, a trinket of obvious significance but still forgotten in the wake of the festivities. Things she liked. Things she might find useful. Things heavy with memory. She'd sort through them later; she'd find them now. MP: 354

Peep's head lifted when the other Acha called and trotted over curiously. "Oh!" She exclaimed with a soft, delighted breath. "Thank you so much!" At first she only nudged the gourd with her nose, then watched the demonstration with rapt attention. "I'll try it!" With an excited little hop, Peep picked up the gourd and returned to the stream. She followed the instructions, watching until there were no more bubbles and then lifted the gourd firmly in her mouth. She hurried back to her seed patch and let the water drip down, slowly but surely giving each one a drink. Her mouth was full but she shared a grateful glance with her very smart companion. MP: 347

Peep made three more trips back and forth until her seeds were happily soaked and now the only element left was time. She looked down at her patch with the warm glow of a mother, as if these seeds were simply an extension of her massive family, another youngster to care and love.
It gave her ideas for growing her own seeds back home and teaching the foals how to nurture them into plants.
