They worked in silence, for a while, nudging this here and moving that there. The lot was starting to look almost respectable.

"You ready to haul this s**t?" Leslie asked, thumbing at what they'd clear. "We're done and s**t after that."

Noah kept his reflection and speculation to himself, zoning out a little but clearing and hauling diligently. When Leslie spoke again, he jumped. "Uh, yeah. Think so." He gave the pile a dismal look. "There's gotta be wheelbarrows somewhere around here," he said, and then amended, "but finding 'em would probably just make it take longer, ugh, okay."

"For next time," Leslie said, shrugging. Not like there wouldn't be one-- the towns obviously were getting better, but still had a long, long way to go. It took a while: and by the end of it, Leslie decided he definitely wasn't doing this without a wheelbarrow, or at the very least a wagon or some bullshit, but hey. One duty down, a thousand to go.
