If we’re swimming at night, who needs a bathing suit?” he offered, knowingly a tease and unable to help it, revelling in being unable to help it. He was giddy, he was excited – he was on cloud nine.

There was only so much they could squeeze into a weekend but as Ian rattled off ideas, Shiloh wanted to do them and then some; already he was wishing that this weekend could go on forever. He’d become disenchanted with island life, a feeling made only more apparent when he was back in the real world. He had always thought the world to be cruel, to be terrible but in comparison he’d wished it all away too soon, without thinking.

Not that he regretted his decision, not for a moment. Not for a single second would he change a thing, as he looked at Ian, as Ian kissed him once more before pulling away and it was all Shiloh could do to keep from swooning. He’d found both heaven and hell in Deus but the light that Ian brought to his life was worth tackling any and all darkness, and he’d be damned if he wouldn’t fight for it. His own thoughts were at the moment, of course, not nearly so heavy, as he skipped to the back of the truck after Ian and half threw himself onto his stomach to reach over and drag several bags and items out.

“This way, this way,” he chimed, sliding past Ian with a deliberate meeting of their hips and he grinned, heading towards the cottage.

It was a simple building, only one floor, raised slightly off the ground with a faded porch wrapped around it. Shiloh climbed the steps and set some things down, pushing the screen door behind him as he fished for the keys to unlock the other door.

Inside was simple too, but in a quaint way. The kitchen was straight ahead of them, a stove and fridge tucked behind an island counter, a large wooden table with bench seats to its left. Nothing was particularly fancy, from the plain wood table to the worn but comfy looking couches that sat just past it. There was a television that looked like it belonged in another era, in a hutch that matched, and various fishing and cottage magazines strewn over a coffee table situated between it all.

Beneath their feet was a rug; its colours many and brilliant and Shiloh kicked his shoes off and onto it, pulling some of the bags inside.

“We can just set most of it here for now, the only thing that really needs to go anywhere right away is the food, or else we’ll be making a trek to the nearest grocery store. And it’s not near.”

He grinned, waiting until Ian was inside before leaning to kiss him again before he slipped back out the door.

“There’s two bedrooms, one’s that door on the other side of the kitchen, and the other one is just over there.” He pointed to a door by the couches.

“You can pick one for us, ‘kay?”

Ian waggled his eyebrows because apparently great minds thought alike.

He supposed it was silly trying to stuff as much stuff as they were trying to into only two days, but since Ian cared little for that and more about the fact that it was just he and Shiloh by themselves for the next little while, this thought was quite fleeting. Focusing much more on their private vacation and deciding not to think about anything Deus related while there, Ian grinned devilishly at Shiloh as he brushed past him, both of their arms loaded with gear and bags.

"I'll follow you anywhere, baby," said Ian, sashaying dramatically along behind his boyfriend as they made their way up to the front door. He waited patiently for Shiloh to unlock it, and then, using his hip to shuffle inside and keep the door open at the same time, Ian stepped into the front hallway.

It was a wonderfully quaint little place, reminding Ian forcefully of a log cabin. Everything was simple and clean, there was a living room with comfortable, snug looking couches (a whole slew of scenarios had already started to formulate in Ian's mind), and Ian gazed around with unabashed, wide-eyed happiness. He was so caught up in the moment that he almost didn't hear what Shiloh said, but he most definitely felt it when he was tugged down for a kiss.

"This place is fantastic," Ian said wonderingly, and made his way down the hall towards where Shiloh had indicated. He glanced into the first bedroom, and then the second, decided that the former looked a little cozier, and went back to the one on the other side of the kitchen, padding into it and dumping the majority of the items he currently held onto the floor. Without a word, Ian flopped face down onto the large bed, breathing in the woody, cabin-y scent and grinning to himself. He rolled over onto his back, arms outstretched, his eyes closed.

"Heaven."

Shiloh had returned with the cooler, but it being a cooler and the contents inside of it cooled, he left it next to the island in the kitchen with the other things he'd brought in, and prowled across the cabin floor in search of his boyfriend. On a hunch he went with the first bedroom, it being closer to the kitchen and, as Shiloh had been here before, he could attest to it being the better of the two. He grinned when he poked his head through the doorway and found Ian lying there, sprawled across the bed.

"You're heaven," he countered, wasting no time in joining Ian as he flopped down beside him on the mattress. The comforter on it was thick and plush, the sort of blanket you could sink into and Shiloh did just that, snuggling up to Ian. It was nice to stretch out after a bit of a drive, and even nicer still to be able to stretch out next to his favourite person in the world.

"I love you, you know," Shiloh smiled, rolling onto his side to face Ian, reaching over to push his ever growing bangs away from his forehead.

"And you're fantastic," Ian said without missing a beat, lifting one arm to accommodate Shiloh snuggling in next to him. He wrapped it around his boyfriend's shoulders and tugged him closer, grinning as he turned his head to press an affectionate kiss to his forehead.

"I love you too," he said, his expression softening. Shiloh's gentle fingers were against his forehead, and he liked the way they felt against his skin. "Jeez. You bring me out here, to this ******** awesome place, and you tell me it's just going to be the two of us for a whole weekend, and how we can do all these things, and I just..."

He trailed off, shaking his head in amazement, because there was little to do but go on and on about how incredible everything was. Maybe it wouldn't be as good back on Deus, back when they had to watch out for their lives like they were going to lose them at any second, but here, away from all of that, it was an oasis.

Ian reached out and dragged Shiloh closer, already pressing his lips against his boyfriend's, firm and insistent as he rolled partly on top of him, one leg thrown over Shiloh's. His hands slipped to his waist and he grinned against Shiloh's mouth.

"Should we break in the new bedroom, then?" he asked, waggling his eyebrows mischievously. His fingers had already dipped beneath Shiloh's shirt to find the warm skin of his hips. "I think that's totally the first course of action here, then we can go and do everything else."

“I just wanted to get away,” he finished for Ian, regarding him with unabashed affection, the sort that implied the words not said, that he’d wanted to get way with Ian, just the two of them, away from all of it, just for a little while. One weekend would never be enough, he was sure but he remembered their New York date, and the many days off they’d spend together and now this and he thought, as long as there were more weekends in the future, as long as he could reach his hand down and find Ian’s, threading his fingers in his as he slunk his other arm around Ian’s back, things would be okay.

He’d gone a little red earlier, as Ian had tucked him under his arm and told him he loved him, as he detailed what he thought of everything so far. The colour persisted the nearer Ian drew, as he crawled over him and they lied there, limbs entwined.

Shiloh kissed him back, his lips pressed flush against Ian’s with a sense of pleasant urgency, because they had all the time to kiss, they could kiss all weekend if they wanted but no matter what they ended up doing, Shiloh wanted to get it started, and start it now, and he was more than happy to oblige Ian.

“Thought you’d never ask,” he whispered, needing no further invitation than the fingers that trailed sneakily over his hips. His hands mirrored Ian's, sliding under Ian's shirt and pushing it up as he pulled Ian down against him, fingers pressed into the bare skin of his back. He couldn't resist a grin.

"Yes, we'll do you first, then everything else."
