"My parents went ta Ventnor but me and my girls would go to Wildwood cause you know dats where the actions at." Boardwalk. Arcades. Boys. Rides. Water parks. In fact now was the time of year she'd be there, laying out on the beach with a dark brown tan. Her tan on Deus was impressive as well but the memories of sights and smells just couldn't be substituted. "Dragon? AWESOME." Yes she was new. Even a couple months in and several mass dreamings she'd yet to see real suffering or pain. She'd barely met horsemen, hadn't used a golem yet, was not qualified in any runics, and had only a brush with Amity students. "s**t's crazy yeah but.." She was about to admit having no scars but paused to give him a sly look. "You owe me one so.. you'll have to find out about tha scars on yer own." Jerry received a lascivious grin before she walked back out into the main room with a swish of the hips. "How long you been here? Longest I heard was a few years. I work out wit Bix in da gym so he tells me stuff. You know him right?" Her voice drifted from the other room, along with the sound of her once more flipping through his stuff.

"O-owe you one?" Jerry's flush continued without any intent to leave. He was quickly pleased by the change of subject, "Oh, yes, I know Bix- we've been Suns about the same amount of time. He was there when the... the Aria thing... um. Wow, has it really been years? Hardly remember what it's like to NOT live here, ahahaha..." Even with the distraction, his mind was whirling with every sashay of her hips. He fidgeted with the hem of his shirt before something clicked in his mind, "Chantelle! Do you know her? Have you seen her? Gosh, I haven't spoken to her since before I was sent off... She was just a trainee then, maybe you met?"

Cee wrinkled her nose, thought, "Chantelle? Whossat yer girlfriend? Never heard of her. What division?" Looking around the room there wasn't much sign of a girlfriend. "It's been ten months though right? Maybe she got shipped off or kicked the bucket or something." The comment was made passingly. Cee always forgot how sentimental and emotional people got about things like death. "Some other chick died recently.. ummm.. Rin something? Melvin's chick?" Her nonchalance was almost hurtful but then again, she had no reason to care.

"W-well, I d-don't know about... about girlfriend exactly er... I mean.. maybe it could have gone but... I mean it was just a date or two and... and ten months ago..." The idea that she could very well be dead now made him hesitate as he shifted back into the sitting room now that his grooming was accomplished, but Cee kept talking, and it took his brain a moment to process exactly what she said. "Wait," He blinked, and felt the wind leave his lungs and his legs tremble, "Wait Rin... Rin is..." And then his legs outright gave out, thankfully with the sofa behind him. "H-how? W-when??" Rin was dead. He hadn't even... he had always... but now- what else had he missed in his time away? Who else was gone forever? "Jordan! Jordan is alright, right? Sun division, sort of short, strawberry blonde hair- and Harrison and Rep? Usually seen all together- what about Robert? You'd know Robert if you met him-" His expression had turned manic as he reached to grab Cee's wrist. How could Rin be dead? He felt numb, as though hearing this news was just being brought up to date on a television program. Not someone he had known, spent time with, was friends with...

It took Cee a second, while glancing through Jerry's things, to really absorb that he'd known Rin. She knew little to nothing about the dead woman and had no idea even how long she'd been a hunter. It hadn't seemed like important information to learn. "Oh I'm sorry." A convincing face of concern was put on. Cee could pretend and Jerry didn't know her well enough yet to see through it. "I didn't know ya'were friends." She crawled onto the sofa next to him, legs curling under her, and she petted his hair as if he were a child. "It was like maybe a month ago? Not much longer. During one'a them.." She waved her hand around to indicate it was a usual, mass island hub-bub. "I don't know the details rilly. You may be better askin one'a them other guys.. Jordan an Rep and them are all fine." She could confirm that. Even the people she didn't know, she recognized from Twitter. He was allowed to grip her wrist, she didn't fight it, but paused to let him work this out in his head. "M'sorry. Rilly."

Jerry searched for words. It was a relief to hear the others were alright, but still... There had been deaths before, of course, while he had been around to witness them. It was easier when he hadn't KNOWN the trainee or hunter in question- and there had been a lot of them. Years ago, he would have called himself callous by shaking them off. These were just things that happened. It was difficult to know what to feel. "Oh," He managed, brows furrowed. He couldn't think of what else to say on the matter. "Um. I should.. probably... lots to... to catch up on and um..." He suddenly leaned forward to fumble through his box, "R-reports to write and um..."

Cee leaned back from him a moment, leaning into the couch with her arm extended along the back. There was something satisfying watching Jerry flounder. She was fascinated by people feeling so much more deeply than she could fathom. The depth of hurt that Cee had never felt was something almost tangible in the awkward silence. "You tryin'a git rid'a me?" There was a bit of a smile in her voice but she stood up and brushed off her bare legs, followed by her butt. Cee stood in front of Jerry and his box, hands settling on her hips. "Melvin's pretty ******** up about it." She said softly, head tilting as if she were giving him sensitive information, "An we didn't git off on the right foot. I mean it's no biggie but maybe not mention me if you talk about her? You don't have to but he may just git pissed and upset. You maybe even.. should talk ta someone else first." Any of those other guys.

"Sorry, it's just... a lot to take in. I've been... you know. Um. It's mostly just been me and Roar the past few months." Poor Melvin... "I don't know what I expected... I suppose... everything to just... be like it was when I left last..." He shifted for a moment, as though internally debating. "You er... wouldn't... happen to know where to um. Find er..." He glanced around the room. Was it bugged? Did they care? Was he still under observation? What was the harm in a little drink now that he was back? He wasn't on duty... there had been that period in the jungle with the coconuts, but he hardly counted that. "Something to drink?" He finished lamely.

"More things change tha more they stay the same?" She was throwing it out there. In her couple months here there'd been a few events, even deaths, but it all reverted pretty quickly. It was hilariously similar to high school. People disappear and you miss them for a bit but everything goes back. Their space is filled by someone else and eventually all you have are the photos or the memories and maybe eventually you don't think about them as much. Maybe eventually their role is simply filled by someone who survives the cut throat social life. Someone who can successfully navigate the petty dog-eat-dog. When Jerry asked for a drink, Cee grinned. "You lookin ta party? Cause I'm definitely tha girl fer that." She didn't know he was an alcoholic. No one on Deus had even hinted at such things. If she knew, would it have mattered? Concetta viewed psychological problems as weaknesses that should be powered through. "I just had a leave weekend. I got a little somethin."

Jerry stared long and hard at Cee, seemingly oblivious and impervious to her use of sassy hips and strategic stretching. He did not care about 'partying', not really... "I ah... n-not here!! And... and... and you can't tell anyone, alright?" He added a bit too quickly. This was a bad idea. One foot back on the island and already off the wagon- generally, Roar wouldn't care, but all things considered, he gave a warning growl in the back of Jerry's head. "And... and just this once. Cause... cause I'm back. And it's... it's a special occasion and..."

"Why you stumblin around it?" Cee looked genuinely confused and slightly affronted but his justifications. She may have been translating this as a personal insult. "Whats wrong wit havin a drink with me?" The small woman had already turned for the door. Whether he followed or not was up to him. "Now you got me thinkin about it.. I'm goin'a have a drink. And maybe puff'a joint." He got a long look backwards, "Come on if you want." And she opened the door.

Again, Jerry quickly debated, glancing around the musty apartment before wobbling to grab an over-shirt from inside his box (another colorful monstrosity with parrots this time) to hurry after her. "I'm just... I'm not supposed to," He hissed conspiratorially.

"Am I yer mother or yer friend?" Cee tilted her head. "If you got some kinna issue and you don't wanna, thats fine. Whatever. I feel like you want me ta stop ya, Jerr, an'I ain't the girl who stops people." Cee had waited at the end of the hall until he came out with his clean shirt. Did he have a thing about hawaiian shirts or something? "You know they got nicer shirts like that? My papa wore em. Tommy Bahamas. Nice s**t."

"I er... don't get very many opportunities for leave, and when I do, my budget is usually er... stunted, ahaha." Jerry had debated his options. He had concluded that one small drink to take the edge off of his nerves over re-adjusting was not falling off the wagon so much as just embracing an occupational tool. So long as no one caught him. But few knew he was even back just yet, right? A quick cap with Cee and then he'd happily check in on all of his friends- all possibly three of them- just to make sure everyone was in one piece.

"Well it's all about priorities.. an'mine is lookin good." Which meant her budget was spent on makeup and clothes. "I'm sure yer makin way more than me. Why you gittin jipped?" Cee was heading down the stairs after Jerry caught up, and down to the trainee dorms on the first floor. Her room had several hunters in it before her but the brief moments with the door open revealed she had it nicely decorated and even had scarves over the lamps for a bit of mood lighting. Her intention was not to hang in her own room so after she popped in and emerged with a paperbag, she led Jerry back to the stairs again. bilious sorry i went to otakon ;;
