"Some people like rocks, they are what the earth is made of after all. No my thing, but that doesn't mean people can't have it as theirs." He kept his arms tightly crossed. "You are kind of a c**t man."

He removed the hand from his mouth. "I just really don't like bugs. That doesn't make me a c**t."

"It does when you verbally attack me for having a different opinion of them." He smiled at Melvin.

"And you are weren't being a huge d**k about someone insulting your many-legged friends?" He pointed back, not liking that smile.
He reached into his locker for his brush and started brushing his hair. "I happened to have had a lot more bugs attacked me and nearly killed me than you have. I think I'm entitled to hating them."

"No. I wasn't. All I did was explain my stance." The smile remained. "In any case, those aren't real bugs. Real bugs generally know when they are ******** and run the other way. It's only when you attack their family that they tend to stand and fight to the death."
He shook his head, "that's kind of like saying all dogs back home are bad because of werewolves."

He looked back at the man. "I didn't like bugs before I came here." He stated with a flat tone. Bugs were, in any way and form, disgusting.
He resumed trying to tame his now curling hair. "Just drop it. I don't like them. You do. Not like I'm winning a war here trying to convince you otherwise if you are so hard up defending them." He really didn't want to make more people hate him and it seemed the man he just met was going to quickly head that way if he kept the conversation going on this topic.
"Anything else you like from off island that isn't bug-related?"

"Reptiles," his tone was almost expectant as if he was ready for another eruption from that.

It wasn't, and Melvin just looked back.
"Did you have a pet snake or iguana or something?" It wasn't spoken in a tone that said he was ready to sneer at whatever choice of pet he may or may not have. He was just curious.

"I wanted one, but Mum never liked them and they were harder to get. She wasn't as bothered by the b-words." He shrugged a shoulder, "I would have loved an iguana though."

"I wanted a dog, but before then, I wanted a snake. Then I was told you fed them mice and my parents weren't having that." He admitted. When he started seeing shadows, he didn't want a snake anymore. He had wanted a dog because he liked dogs, but also because he felt that the dog would protect him against the evil shadows he saw.
"We just had a cat. She was still really nice." Pepper had been his best friend late at night when he couldn't sleep and tried to muffle his voice in his pillowcase while not looking at his closet. He missed that cat.
"I think a lot of people miss pets here. Normal pets." Minipets were not normal.
