The day they didn't have to fight or encounter grusome half-dead decaying bodies on a regular basis was the day hunters stopped being, well, hunters. It was almost expected now, and sadly, he was almost used to it. Almost.
Also, it probably wasn't a smart idea to be starting a fire when they were surrounded in... gas, but hopefully, it wasn't flammable. That, and he didn't want to accidentally hit either of the girls just because he couldn't see them, and fire... deterred the undead, right? At least, it made sense to him.
Just to be safe though, he should probably warn them.
"Watch out, guys, I'm lighting a torch."

Noemi jumped as she heard Jake was lighting a torch and made a small sound.
"I...Is that safe!?!?" Noemi was just like no Jake why Jake.
She didn't know why her defenses weren't working. She was feeling so sick. She wanted to leave. Oh god.

Sherry spared a glance in the direction of Jake's voice. Really? A torch? Noemi seemed to wonder the same thing, and she voiced the concern before Sherry could. Hopefully nothing was flammable. If this stuff was anything like natural gas or whatever... Sherry made a mental note to go over flammable gases if they survived this. When they survived this. "Noemi," cough, "holding up okay?" Sherry knew that trainees had weaker shields, if not constitutions. And this gas was foul. "Jake? You?" He was given less of a sentence, but she wanted to check. A lot can happen in a few seconds, okay. Distracted as she was, Sherry almost didn't see the creature-thing. She'd nearly missed it; caught it with just the corner of her eye. A faceless, oozing form that resembled a body. Sherry swung at the thing, stepping back and more or less bumping into Noemi as she did so. But at least she hit something, she felt that much. Which was something, since her head seemed fuzzy still. Even sound was weird. "What are these things?" Boss HP: 79/100HP: 45/60 Target: Boss Damage: 13 Charge: 3/3

Maybe, if he was going to warn them, he should have taken the effort to move away from the gas, but, well, sometimes risks were necessary (perhaps Sherry should have that talk sooner than later).
Still, when nothing blew up and the fire provided a nice beacon amongst all the fog, Jake let out a relieved sigh. Of course, the fire also meant it made him an easy target to spot, bu he was prepared for that, cleanly slicing one of the bodies in half.
"Don't worry, it's all good!"
For now.
"U-um... dead bodies?"
As if he could point out the obvious even more.

When they didn't all suddenly combust into explosion, Noemi relaxed as much as she could in a pit of gassy fog with dead bodies lurching at them. Jake and Sherry were doing a great job of decimating the enemies as they came.
Noemi was just doing her best to keep them away from Miss Sherry. She was waiting for the charge, should Jake needed.
She was playing medic on the field.

Well, at least she wasn't making up the bodies. Things felt weird enough in her head she thought she might have been. It was hard to hear, hard to focus, and still hard to breathe. Sherry put everything she could into another swipe at a lurching, gangly form. Noemi was doing a nice of job keeping the whatevers off her back, and Jake...well. He was probably fine sine he didn't kill them all. Now. They just had to keep that up for who knew how long. Boss HP: 51/100HP: 40/60 Target: Boss Damage: 13 Charge: 3/3

Jake just focused on attacking, hoping whatever it was they were attacking were slowly whittling down.
It was hard to tell amongst all this fog.

Noemi smacked another creature away.

Sherry was relieved? proud? SOMETHING. Noemi was proving herself to be very capable. Keeping her head, her guard, and even thinking about heals. Yes, the trainee was likely to go far. After they made it out of this. After-- Sherry squealed and jabbed at something -she didn't even see what- that seemed to dash at her from out of the bushes. It was true that his fear shield was taking quite a hit from.. WHATEVER it was they were fighting, but it'd hold for now. Besides, he had bandages. He finally learned just how valuable they were, especially on missions such as these.
"Just keep defending Sherry."
He gave her a thumb's up, to show her she was doing a good job. Whether she saw it or not though, was hard to tell.
He let loose the charge he had accumulated, striking rapidly at creatures around him. At least, they seemed like creatures. Much easier to deal with than dead bodies.

Noemi was unaware of the pride she was bringing Sherry and Jake, but she glad she was.
After all she was doing what Stormy told her and it seemed to be working well.
"S..Sherry, is your shield okay? I'm...I'm sorry I can't defend them all."

"I'm good for now! You are doing wonderful, Noemi! But watch out, Jake usually lies about his shield." It was true, he did. Sherry coughed, and took another jab at a body-thing. How many of these things were there? Why did her head hurt so much? What was in that gas? "And how are you, Noemi? Holding up okay?" Noemi bopped the last zombie figure on the head and looked around. Soon enough the gas was gone and the huntress could pull her scarf down.

Sherry turned away from whatever she'd just hit (she didn't like looking at them), and saw Noemi hitting one, too. A good, solid hit. Not bad, Sherry noted. Not bad at all. "Good hit!" But Sherry waited, gripping Armagnac, watching as the gas faded. Nothing else appeared. Nothing else attacked. "Yes!" Sherry agreed very vehemently when Noemi spoke. Desummoning Armagnac, Sherry reached out to grab Noemi's arm, then Jake's. She moved slower than she liked, her head still a little funny. "Leaving now is a wonderful idea." There would be more time for praising the trainee when they were not in a themepark of zombies.
