Avani and Honoka
Orderite Adept Farmer, Civilian/Feral Orakoi
Avani's family ranch near Lake Tyluafel.

Avani was more than ready to go. She took one last look, secure the key to the house was in her pocket. She took a breath, and started marching towards the orchard. Nix would probably jump off of her sholder and she could use that arm to balance herself if needed.

User Image

She got to Shenra's house to be greeted by a man with blue hair and eyes, wearing glasses. This had to be Shenra's father, for his hair was just the shade of her's. He greeted her with the news that Shenra was in the Ashen City helping her mother fight off what monsters dared get near their shop, and if it got too rough, would be back. He was here with their underage children, which Avani spied four faces with various colored hair and eyes that matched Shenra as well.

"You can stay here if you wish." the man said, he looked beyond Avani and smiled, "Your escorts can rest easy."

Avani let Honoka down and watched her and Nix scamper into the house. Squeals of surprise and happiness followed. Avani relaxed. It seemed Shenra's family was as accepting as her, and she didn't have to worry about anger at Honoka.

Avani turned and waved to Sulu and Criani "Thank you!!!!! Come back here if you need anything!!!" she then placed her hands on her hips and said, "And also come back when this is done to let me know you are safe!"

Avani heard Shenra's father chuckling behind her. She turned and looked at him and he smiled and said, "I think we will get on well Miss. Avani."

I thought a mara hunt might be nice

"Their own are being attacked." said Sulu quietly as Avani returned, "They are getting their due, but the lives of others are still on their hands."

She nodded. She was always ready.

"Perhaps indeed," she said as she walked beside the small, varied group, "I have a, ah, reputation." she admitted softly, switching briefly to dragon, "as a killer." she switched back to the common tongue, "So, perhaps another should attempt to carry the news." She smiled, slightly sheepish, "Another that they would be willing to listen to." The other Orakovan did not seem to be old enough to have gone on magescan raids, so the cries of murderer would not follow her.

As they escorted the Fae, the orakoi, and the orderite safely to the friend's house, smiling in a khehora way at the children now arrayed around the young orderite. It suited her thought Sulu kindly.

"Thank you." she said, bowing at the offer of hospitality, "And we will let you know, of course."

Well, likely Criani would. Who knew what paths Sulu's wandering doomed fate would take her?

As they walked away, Suluksati studied the other khehora out of the corner of her eye. Young. Impressionable. In tune with her element and the land it represented. Dare she attempt to tell her of her other cause, the one not related to stone abominations?

"Have you ever..." she began as they began to scout, Hunted a dragon was to be the end of her sentence, but, as if in a mistimed illustration of her idea, a dragon's roar broke the silence of the forest.

She turned to its origin, towards Serenia's great lakes. What could have riled the dragons so? Surely not hunters - Who would hunt for recreation in a time like this. Armies? No... had they not been mostly at the coasts? Then... what?

"I think we shoudl go and investigate." she said, spreading her wings in preparation to take off, "Don't you?"

Criani looked at Sulu with a questioning look. A killer? Of what? Personally, Criani's creed was if it was attacking her, she would try to defend herself. Be it two legger or dragon.

"I am sure whatever your reputation, you are labeled such a thing because you had to kill..." Criani shrugged, "Personally if it was a threat to myself or a friend, I would kill it. But no, I do not go out looking to kill."

Life to Criani was just trying to find a place to call her own.

It was then that Criani heard the dragon roar and wondered who did what to pissed that one off enough to elicit such a sound.

"Someone sure is cranky..." Criani said as she lifted her wings and took off.

She and Sulu flew over the forest and soon found the reason for the said crankiness. They had flew past Criani's favorite lake, and towards Lake Tyfule. She saw a few dragons fighting off some of those rock things, and more that Criani had never seen before. She saw a few of them near a pile of bodies.

The bodies were bloody and not moving.

And a few were half in the lake and half out.

Criani's nose twitched as her anger rose.

"Not my lakes..." she hissed angrily. She then, without regard to the dragons nearby headed into the fray trying to see if she could decapitate as many of these so called Mara as she could. She saw a huddle of rock looking Mara near the bodies, seeming to be guarding them, getting ready to throw more in to the lake...

She roared herself and dove in.

It was a lost cause, she was too weak, too young… But they were harming her lakes!

No one harmed her lakes!

It's a group hunt, so you get the benefit of sulu's rolls. - all the loot and such, though we can only do that for rock mara...

And the mara in the rp doesnt necessarily have to just be 4.

(loot roll)

"Nor do I..." murmured Suluksati. She had never intended to be a murderer, but it felt like that was changing now. There was blood on her claws, and she knew that there would be more. Perhaps one day she would truly hunt the hunters with intent to kill, as they did the dragons.

For now, though, that was not The issue at hand. The Mara were and... What were they doing, exactly?

The rock monsters stood next to a pile of bodies, stiff and unmoving in death, their blank eyes staring as if pleading with the heavens. Others were being dropped into the lake.

But why? Why were the Mara dumping the dead into one of the healing lakes? Suluksati came around for another puzzled pass. Were they trying to heal the dead? Why?

Suluksati was suddenly overcome with a sense of wrongness, for that could not be it at all. They were dumping the refuse of death - filth and rot, no offense to the former owners of the bodies - into a lake of cleansing and life. But was that what they were doing? Could the monsters even conceive of such despoilment and depravity?

She heard the dragon's roar again, and watched as they tore into the mara like the forces of nature they represented. Lithe, green and blue bodies crashed into the mara's ranks, and Suluksati could feel their rage. She could feel the rage of the magic around her.

She roared in answer, sending a beam of light into the group of Mara. How dare the abominations defile the land so! She woudl protect it, as she protected it's dragon masters. She roared a hail to the dragons as she joined the fight, sending another beam of light into the corpses, incinerating them into dust, satisfied at her work as she circled around for another go...

Maeron Aredan and Darke Frost
Expert Orderite Warrior and his Bonded
Farms Near Lake Tyluafel

Mae had half a mind to tell this girl, this Sueno that he wasn't here to do her chores. Literally his only purpose here was to see that no harm came to her and that she didn't do anything stupid while the Guardians were still in the area. he rubbed at his neck. he could see himself getting into trouble if he actually allowed any civilians to take a beating from these Mara... Especially if it was a little girl... "Fine," Mae sighed, taking the bucket from her grasp and strolling away to do as she had asked.

By the time he'd returned to her side with the water, he'd realized how awkward it was not having Darke around to make conversation. He could gripe at the Alihora all he wanted, but that didn't change how his feathered companion was always an instant point of conversation. Ugh, if he'd gotten his way, he wouldn't be in this situation... 'Just be nice,' the Aiskala hissed through his thoughts. 'Girls like it when boys aren't arrogant arsefaces.'

The Orderite groaned aloud, rolling his eyes, even though Darke couldn't see it. He set the bucket near Sueno's feet. "So this... Looks like a lot of work for one little girl to handle alone," Mae rumbled, gesturing to the hastar and back to the barn where the other animals were. "I'm Mae, by the way."

I don't care if Criani gets loot, she just needs experience ^^" So I guess just killing Mara at the moment then?
Criani
Peisio Khehora, Feral Battler
Near Lake Tyfuel
Luck: 1

Criani moved to a clear spot behind her and closed her eyes focusing her power. Though she was inexperienced, she knew how much water she could move with this spell. The Mara seemed to hate water. She remembered from watching Avani when she fought the Mara on her farm; the buckets of water she used to make the Mara howl in pain and then attacking it.

Well, that's one thing she had going.

She manipulated a ball of water out of the lake and over a group of rock Mara. She opened her eyes to judge where to place her sphere. She then slammed the sphere into the group, drenching them.

As they howled in frustration, she attacked as Avani had and cut off their heads and arms as she ran through the group. She turned and watched them crumble to the ground. She would go through their spoils later, now was the time to learn more about what the Mara were doing here.

She ran to the shore of the lake and quickly placed her head in the water to hear what the magic was saying. But she quickly pulled her head out as she heard the weeping and rage from the waters of the lake. They had dumped lifeless bodies into the lake with no regard to ether the lake or the dead themselves. But there was one whisper of how many more of these monsters were coming onto the shores of Serenia.

Criani roared in anger, and then turned back to the fight. The lakes were not only sacred to the two-leggers, they were sacred to her people as well as dragons.

She again focused her power for another pass at the Mara. She prayed to Seren to forgive her use of the water, but desperate times called for desperate measures....

Dancin' with dragons~

Suluksati roared. "Filthy abominations!" she howled, letting her magic gather around her like a halo of sunlight, "Defiling places of purity..." It gathered, shimmering, around her mouth. "You are not alive!" she shone brighter, her white feathers blindingly brilliant. "You have no heart, no life, no blood!" Her voice was resonant, clearly practiced in shouting at things that didn't bother to hear her. A ball of light gathered, swirling like a miniature sun, in her mouth. "You have no right!" she arched back, her magic shining in prismatic rainbows around her. "And you shall be judged!" she shouted, launching forward, a ball of light flying from her into the crowd of mara, exploding into a blinding and colorful display with a sound like breaking glass.

She landed, slightly winded, on a newly emptied part of the beach as her magic began to fade into wisps of remaining light, shuffling her wings to straighten the feathers. She had thought that that had been a good speech - practice for when she next came across a group of dragon hunters - It would be good, of course, to intimidate them into fleeing before she had to harm them. In this case, though, she had meant the harm. The speech had just felt good.

Speaking of hunters...

She turned cooly to face a group of ferocious, predatory eyes, leaving be the drenched group of rock mara and their watery attacker for the time being - Criani, she hoped, would be all right.

"Greetings." she said, looking up at the dragons, her heart pounding, uncertain of what she should feel about this moment as of yet. "Wouldst thou accept our aid in protecting the lakes from defilement?" She spoke awkwardly and archaically and appealed to their egos, a lesson hard-learned from years of protecting the powerful beasts. Perhaps appealing to their pride would turn this into a step forward - finally - in her quest for harmony?

She dared not hope.

War Prompt
OOC: I know none of you are at the CIty, but that's fine. This is what is happening!

The War is joined about the city: the Mara are trapped between city wall and army... but the army holding them there is not as large as it should be since a large portion has left to go defend the Lakes. Only problem is the Maa are between them and the lake... and the Dragons are about the Lake so they dare not land there! The Generals figure they can rely upon the dragons to keep the Mara from getting too close.. and if not? Well, that's one dragon pest they won't have to deal with it the future.

The City walls are warping as the Mara continuously try to pull it down with magic, only bars of light and the sheer power of Aevah keep the walls standing; the civilians inside must be kept safe!
From the skies the Orderites attack; magic, arrows, and death raining from above.

DraconicFeline

Okay, so Sulu is recognized and she is powerful so the Dragons will demand (not ask... asking is for the weak and Peisios are not weak! ) that she aid them i the defense of their lakes.

They kinda mock her overly fancy archaic words (the Ysali's do at least). It amuses them.... Why is she talking like that? Trying to act superior to them (yes I am having fun twisting your actions muhahaha!)

You do not have to quote me for convo with Dragons :3 I'm sure you can figure out what to do! I may do things you don't like if you quote~ emotion_awesome

You are not eligible for fighting certain mara... therefore you CANNOT face them. No loot, no exp, no items. Do not roll for them either.

Yes you can Rp facing them...you just don't get anything... and if you RP facing them you need to either lose of have help.
Sulu can roll for them, but you don't get anything from that. Does that make sense?

Do things?

Sulu smiled politely at their mocking - better mocking, indeed, than violence. Better that the dragons should laugh than attack. She bowed her head. "Of course."

Inside, she was laughing too. Of course they would demand it. Their arrogance cost them so much, but perhaps this was the first step - if she dared hope that there were steps at all.

And today, she dared.

"Criani!" she called, "Start removing any of the bodies already in the water and drag as many as you can inland. We will dispose of them in some way..." Burning? Fertilizer? She nodded at the Peisio dragons, "The cleansing will, of course, go faster if you lend thy might to us." she said, trying to inject as much respect as she could to her voice. "I will see about cleaning up the mara on the shores." she said, stretching her wings and sweeping into a take off.

It was not hard to find another mara dumping site - they were not creatures of stealth, but weapons meant to be seen on the battlefield. She roared and attacked with a mighty beam of light, firing into the group without care that she also partially incinerated the bodies - in fact she did not notice. if she had, she would have recognized it as a great way to dispose of the bodies.

But her mind was on battle now, as a magic using mara cast a net of shadows at her. She dodged and they dissolved in the Serenian sun.

"TRY HARDER!" she roared, diving in for another pass.

Criani crowed with laughter, "Just about to do that! No worries here, we'll have to build a pyre for them to be burned in respect!"

To dig a grave was the first choice for Criani, but graves would still contain bodies. Who was to say the Mara wouldn't dig up the dead? They seemed to have little regard for them even if they weren't properly buried in the first place!

Criani, done fighting the Mara that were near some piles of bodies, was looking to the lake and pondering how to get the bodies out. It was calmer here, Sulu and the dragons taking care of the battle part of the problem, so she could address how to take care of the bodies.

Criani nodded to herself, and then went over to the pile and began laying out the dead side by side in neat rows. She admired two-leggers, and so, knowing how she would wish her race's dead to be treated, placed the bodies in respect by the lake.

Not one body touched the water though.

When the piles were done, she turned to the lake and dived in. Being a Peisio, she was well within her element. She closed her eyes and searched with elemental magic for disturbances within the waters, locating where bodies were. She shivered at the amount of dead that the Mara had been able to desecrate in this way.

She mentally shook herself and went to the task of gathering the bodies that had scattered around the lake.

She did this till she needed a rest, and after that, once again took to the waters to reclaim the dead. She wouldn't even make a dent in the numbers that had been dumped, but at least she didn't have to worry about the Mara. That was Sulu's problem!

She blasted the group of mara with another beam of light, sweeping away to seek another group as the dragons began to mop up - not wanting to, of course, injure a dragon with her magic accidentally. She searched the shores, thinking.

She had not exactly been listening to what Criani had said before she had taken off - when she was battling, nothing else mattered: she became a wild beast of light, barely able to speak, so intense and ferocious was she. But now, as she calmed slightly over the supernaturally refreshing air of the lake, she remembered what Criani had said.

A pyre was a good idea, actually. It was respectful, it would remove the bodies from the equation. It was now, with a clearer head, that she remembered how her magic had effected those bodies.

They had a plan, they had a method, they needed only to gather the bodies and rescue them - and the lakes - from such desecration. She found a few other groups of mara, but they were fighting dragons and, unwilling to fire into the fray and harm the bests she loved, she sat back, throwing up assisting shields here and there to block the mara's attacks.

Finally, she managed to circle back around the lake, reaching where she had left Criani. She glided overhead, concerned at the young Peisio's absense. Where had the khehora gone? Was she all right? Had the dragons harmed her? The Mara? The magescans?

Her worries were relieved as the Peisio loped out of the water, carrying limp corpses on her wet, shining, back. Suluksati relaxed, and noted the respectful lines of bodies arrayed already.

"You are doing very well!" she said warmly, landing nearby and helping to arrange the new bodies, "I am sorry I said nothing before, but... a Pyre sounds like a very suitable idea. My magic can help with that... it is not Firani, but light burns and purifies all the same..." she quieted as she helped drag a body into its place in the line. "The question is..." she said, scanning the forest in case the mara decided to attack again, "How do we make a pyre? Would you happen to know?"

She did not. She did not even remember how her old tribe had taken care of the dead, which may have helped her.

Speaking of, she wondered where the Aedaun dragons were in all of this. It was the Peisios and Ysali that she saw destroying Mara around the lake, but the large dragons of light that shared her clan and magic were nowhere to be found.

She scanned the skies, but saw nothing - the local dragons were fighting elsewhere in the lake, and no pale shapes flew overhead to signal the coming of either the light dragons or the army of the Orderites. She stretched her wings. No reinforcements meant that it might well be a good idea to make another round around the lake...

The Dragons are all for leaving the bodies scattered through out the forest but away from water (good fertilizer that~ A Ysali will remark) They see no point in burials or rituals as all that is left when a Dragon dies is his soul... But squishy two leggers have no soul (to them) and only worthless meat so just leave them be. [[this is just my interpretation.... so if the other staff don't agree.. then it's just this group that thinks this, if they don't mind, then it can be a bit more widespread...]]

They still don't like you and a few snarl if you get too close or act too chummy.... you are after all, Khehora... things they see as weak and lesser to them.

Perhaps the two khehora could convince the dragons that getting rid of the bodies would deter more Mara from coming back to claim them? I mean Criani would do it only for respect of two-leggers, but if they could convince the dragons that it is a good way to keep Mara from coming back, she could get her way?? emotion_kirakira

Criani was grateful for the help as Sulu helped her with some of the bodies.

"There are more down there." Criani said as she laid a child gently in one of the rows. She felt sadness and anger war within her, but she tampered both feelings down as she looked at Sulu and smiled as much as she could in the grim settings, "Your work with the Mara allowed me to collect many of the bodies, so no worries about replying to me before."

Criani had seen a pyre funeral only once when she was small. It was in the village of two-leggers she had grownup near. Her father had wanted her to see this particular one since it was for a two-legger whom he had trusted with the utmost respect. Apparently it was a way of getting rid of the body of a person when one's soul had left it.

"I have seen it done once, the two-leggers had a large pile of logs that held the body. They then said some of their prayers over the body, and lit it on fire." Criani shrugged. "If these dragons will let us, we can get rid of the bodies that way." Criani looked to the dragons and narrowed her eyes, "I, personally, would do this more out of respect for the dead, but it is a permanent way of getting rid of the bodies and thus getting rid of the reason the Mara have to return. If we can convince the dragons of this, perhaps we can obtain both goals."

There were more down there? Suluksati looked at the bodies, trying not to look at the newly recovered child in the process. There were already too many.

She gave a dragon a respectful nod, getting a mild snarl in response. "Logs?" She remembered the Ysali dragons among the group, "I don't think the dragons will appreciate that use of their forest."

But just leaving the bodies around the forest as one had suggested - which would be great fertilizer or just a strange and grisly decoration for all she knew of plants - That would mean that the mara could retrieve them.

"Perhaps we should deal with them as they are..." murmured Suluksati, assessing her magic. She still had a lot, and the sun was still up, meaning she could regain some. There were still Mara to destroy but surely burning away the empty physical shells of these people was as worthy...?

"A powerful enough light burst would work, and if I spread the blast out, I could grant them all immolation in holy light...?" Hopefully? She looked at the child's body again and shivered delicately. "There are so many..." she said sadly, "Do you think I should?" She was unsure, uncertain. There were so many already, and more... could she immolate them all? Could she bring them all peace?

Did she, in the end, care?
Yes. The answer was yes.

That's fine :3
Though if you go about cutting down tress for pyres.. then I will need you to both roll for Dragon Hunts.

DraconicFeline
Light does not equal fire, fyi. Though perhaps you can convince the Ysali that burying the bodies means the trees get more of the nutrients.. and that they can then dig them up later to eat if they really wanted.. but hiding the bodies so they don't get dragged back into the lakes is a good idea!
