Chel waved at Jack from across the sand dunes. "Let's team up later!" she called. Despite the invitation, there wasn't going to be a choice in the matter. Jack was definitely going to have Chel dripping off him at one point or another in this mission.

Even if she was supposed to be mad at him.

Hearing assignments rattled off it took everything for a minute to register to the young woman who was not having a good morning. It was bad enough she barely had enough time to get dressed, wasn't exactly wearing her least favorite clothes (and had learned what happened when you wore clothes you liked on a mission), but they were in a desert. A ******** desert. Looking impressive was utterly secondary because 1) she wasn't in Death and had absolutely zero idea who the pissed-off guy in glasses was and 2) <******** desert.

Everything Nora had said, Otto had said, Peyton had said and done to build her confidence was slipping away at a rate that would later make her hate herself. For now? She had a mission. Quietly looking at the direction of her first assigned 'partner' she was just able to make out a recognizable form that ran out of the tent. "Hanna!" The braver trainee who was actually in Death just looked back for a second and kept going. Obviously she was to follow.

Squeezing Otto's hand in her own she gave him a quick hug. "I'll be back as soon as I'm done, okay? Try...try to find me if you don't see me in awhile, okay?" Without waiting any longer, knowing that Hanna liked to get right down to business, she turned to follow.

"Yes, yes, I have eyes," she replied to Gale. "Hope that doesn't affect your morale, or I'll have to start calling you a little ol' softie. Your cous should be enough anyway, eh?" Rather than mess with his hair this time, she merely gave his shoulder a rough pat.

She then waved away Ryan's comments. "Bah! Pain and horror are in the eyes of the beholder," Nora joked, then wondered if everyone here had a thing for coffee. It seemed to be the most popular pick me up at least. "Chin up, there's a lot of us here. But it's nice to meet you all. I'll try not to disappoint you if we end up in a group. Speaking of, do they assign us, or do we just sign up? I'd rather stick with an experienced lot for now."

The previous Sahara mission hadn't given her the best of confidences.

---

Jack gave Chel a long look. Then it moved to her group. Then back to her with an expression that asked, Why would I want to do that? He wasn't aware she was supposed to be mad, but he figured she would have been the type to act cooler towards him if she really did take offense to his prior texts.

Unless forcing herself on him was a punishment. Ugh.

The sudden arrival of the part had Marcus sighing. And sighing. And generally wondering why he'd ever asked to be in charge of trainees he'd forgotten that it also meant he'd have to deal with them on missions too. Not that he hated it it was just... He'd rather have been minding his own on a recon team or working on the barriers.

"Marcus Hasan." He introduced himself. "Moon hunter- And apparently the senior hunter for our squad." Adjusting his tinted goggles, he made a small face, sunscreen still thickly coating his skin. "Mission is straight forward- Do what you're told. For now let's start with the basic search- Grab a FEAR scanner and then we'll head out and get started." Dis rolled his eyes and Marcus grumbled. "Sorry if I'm a bit 'grouchy'. Sun isn't exactly kind to me anymore."

Hanna returned from her first quest -- a quick scavenge mission with Cami. It had been interesting at least, massive crater with an array of disturbing things sprinkled all over. It had taken no time at all to find three Fear-infused items. What else could be out there?

Honestly, the idea of it was incredibly exciting to her. She probably should have felt more nervous about whatever was going on, but this was exactly what Hanna signed on for. She wanted adventure in the great wide somewhere~

Shiloh made his way to the portals, dressed appropriately as compared to the last, no pajamas in sight. He didn’t look particularly impressed that Ian had chose to do a mission so soon, his expression very similar to a certain nurse’s. Never mind the fact that neither of them had had an option of attending this mission, the rude awakenings had seemingly been mandatory as everyone gathered around the portals.

It took a moment for him to find Ian, and he called his name, squeezing his way through. His expression didn’t lighten any, however, when he saw who was in company of Ian.

“Alistaire,” he said, giving a terse nod in his direction, as polite as he was about to be. Alistaire had warned him, had given him a heads up even, but it didn’t matter to Shiloh that his words might have helped him back then, because all he knew was that he’d insulted Ian, that he’d trashed his room.

“Let’s go,” he said, turning to Ian and tugging him towards the portal. “Get this over with as fast as possible.”

S-Level. Well, s**t. s**t s**t s**t. Last time Harrison had a warning (hey, 2/200 of our entire ******** forces survived) but this time, there'd been nothing. No ominous stirrings, at least no worse than the usual. Just an emergency. Middle of the night.

He'd grabbed some clothes and the rest of his equipment, working silently and shoulder-to-shoulder with Rep. Jordan was off-island on a remote mission for a few days, and after he'd geared up and checked and double checked the room, he sat on the bed and sent out a text.

Prolixity
s level mission me and rep got called up. if we r gone 2 long killer will need fed. love you b safe.

Rep had been so sure just last night that nothing could kill them, and Harrison knew what he meant, mostly. He'd come to believe that there was something after. That even if they died, it wouldn't mean being apart. But it didn't mean he was ******** ready for it yet.

Harrison could already feel the first pricks of adrenaline. He eyed the gaggle of hunters- some of them right out of the pods. Was Wyatt here? He felt a squeeze of nervousness at that, too. It felt like somebody out of his old life just getting picked up and thrown right into a meat grinder. Usually he gave out a lecture on basic defense stances, but this time he just felt grim.

He felt worse when they stepped into the light.

Sand. Heat.

Harrison clammed up completely.

Cee did not like abrupt awakenings but she'd mastered the art of makeup on the run when in high school. Screeching a few choice words to anyone who bumped her in the halls (how had she not realized there were so many in her short time here?) she followed like cattle when they were led and equipped. Before stepping through the portal she texted.

To Ever:

The goggles hardly went with her outfit but the prospect of lacking eyesight was an effective threat. When the tall guy, who she gathered from context clues was named Caelius and was Death Lead, she merely pulled out her phone and checked her service... while he was still talking. The urge to take a picture of the amazing surroundings was strong.. .. So she did.

Her heart was beating a thousand miles a minute, the gravity of it all was definitely being understated, but the urge to try and stay coo was strong with her. Cee fiddled with the end of her scarf, tapped her foot, and obsessively checked her phone. It was grounding her.

Noemi made small strangled sounds as Milo kept a firm hug around her. It was the kind to almost make him like her she'll since she was so small. Even more so when he got excited. She wiggled around until she could find an opening, sliding out of his hugs and looking at the two other girls.

"This is Milo. He is also basement neighbor-" this was directed at Shu, "He is good sun! Good friend!" She nodded as the team was decided. "Okay eberíamos hacer esto ahora!" She nodded...taking the lead for the group.

Rep couldn't really be upset by missions any longer, once upon a time he'd been upset by the prospect of danger and risk involved, but it was hard to draw out that kind of fear indefinitely. The same kind of blasé acclimatisation which meant someone would smoke themselves to death or take drugs till the day someone found their body meant that there was no longer any sense of danger. Risk had become his life, he would live until he did not, and he had no intention of going anywhere. He got dressed and ready with Harrison without even really paying attention, habitually reaching out for what he needed and finding it there. Only when they were ready to leave did he do an inventory of his supplies which - as expected from someone as paranoid as him - he kept in impeccable order.

The sheer number of hunters meant that the higher ups had called out even the guys who didn't get treated like they were inept morons on a daily basis to this mission which meant that it was probably going to be serious. Part of Rep was vaguely glad, it would be nice to give some of the ******** newbies a proper baptism of fire, maybe some of them would come back only mentally scarred if they were ******** lucky.

His own mood was defiant, the low thrum of bloodlust already taking hold. He was ready for a fight, a real fight without Marie having reason to hold him back. Jordan was safe, he only needed to keep his eyes on one single spot and he could bring them both back alive.

Stepping through he donned the goggles and slunk an arm fleetingly around the other man's waist. "I don't think it's where you think it is." he said. Last he'd checked the Sahara wasn't half as rocky as the nightmare they were looking at.

She'd been at the house, just barely having woken from the night before. At the sounds of bootsteps on the porch, America was up and at the door glaring them away from dirtying the shining wood floors inside. She hadn't been wearing much at the time, was still drowsy and sleep soft, but they'd stayed out at her slurred, barely understandable cursing and directed her on where to go before taking off to the next occupied house.

The fact that she'd known she was here, despite this not being her house, not yet, was oddly relieving, but the girl didn't dwell on it for too long as she raced toward her room to grab mission supplies. This was, it should be said, more than a bit familiar.

Dropping Tubadiah a candy, America began sending texts as she prepared.

For once America wore the uniform, and it should be said that there was a definite sense of relief when it turned out not to be that weird O island place again. A desert she could manage well enough, even if it was kinda strange and unnatural. Also the goggles were kinda cool and she every intention of keeping them.

Posture straight, expression calmly serious, the girl paid close attention to what the Death Leader (a*****e terrorist worst ever) had to say. With a small nod to herself, nothing she couldn't handle, America scanned the hunters gathered. At least there were no dead bodies this time.

Naturally, the first thing Harland did while weaving through the crowd was look for friendly faces. In these glasses, it was both more difficult and more convenient-- the environment made it a good idea, but he wasn’t used to spectacles of any kind. Harland looked like he’d dressed haphazardly; cowboy hat, his Deus duster, some black jeans and a plaid shirt that was buttoned up unevenly.

He spotted Shiloh easily, the bright pink hair like a beacon. He waved enthusiastically, but didn’t try to meet up with him. He was on a mission.

He saw Ian, and though he once would have felt his heart leap, he just felt a sunny pleasure at seeing the still-bandaged Hunter on his way by. "Go n-éirí an bóthar leat!" he called out, waving at Ian as well. He didn’t try to get close to anyone until he spotted Alistaire, who was immaculately dressed.

"Do ye sleep like that?" he asked Alistaire, as if that was his entire greeting. He added on: "Dia duit, mo chroi; wonder what this mission’s about, why it was so urgent," he said, obviously disconcerted he didn’t have more information yet.

"I'm fine," Rin's reply was calm and certain. It was a little white lie, but he didn't need to know that. They were in the worst place in the world and here under the worst circumstances. Of course she wasn't fine. This sucked.

"Let's try to find the others, everyone is better off as a group. Safety in numbers and all." Rin knew deep down she made a better healer and shield then anything else. And Melvin... well, Melvin too.

She pulled out her phone and thought of one or two people;

"I got a bad feeling," is all Harrison said, summoning B0nez and slowly hooking the larger blade to his waist. His eyes didn't leave the rocks.

"S-level," he hissed. "What are we even doing here. What are you and me gonna do against that level of s**t. I don't want to be filled with b-b..." he couldn't even think it. "But I don't want to be torn apart over a ******** ******** million years across infinite ******** dimensions either."

They point, we click, B0nez filled in. Finally something interesting.
