Char 1
It hurt to hear such things from their father, he ad always done his best but perhaps his own inability to teach himself would be remedied at an academy. He had know that his brother had been less than pleasing to their father but he meant well in his own way. It had come to quite a shock that only one would get to regain their place in the will but, he hoped that if he could become the one to prove himself he could convince his father to let his brother back in as well at a time when he too proved himself in schooling and in ability.

Every moment he spent packing and apply to the academy he wondered if his misguided and dearest brother was plotting up a scheme or going to run in and try to torment him once more for fun as things usually went. Yet, worry sprouted in the back of his mind. What if his brother was unable to be redeemed in their father's eyes? Would he have to spend his live alone without the lifestyle he had grown accustomed to? He shuddered to think of his brother in tattered clothing with dirt and grime on him. With small but delicate movements, he sealed his admissions package and prepared to deliver them at an appropriate time.

It was then that he heard the endless cursing and shouting from his brother down the hall. The most disturbing part was when it suddenly grew silent. "Oh my, he must be planning something quite devious this time to distract him from the newest pressing matter." With a quiet turn in his chair, he faced his bed where a packed suitcase sat. It would only be a few days before he left all the lavish rooms and the fine dining at every meal. It saddened him but he knew that his father meant well, he probably wants the best for them in the future and it sometimes takes a harsh lesson to get things through Janraes's skull.

Aso was happy when it came down to it though, he had always wanted to leave and travel or meet new ghouls and boils. Perhaps he might find someone that could tolerate his brother's antics in the long run? The ideas that swam through his head excited him as he stood up from his chair and packed away the last few of his things in another case. If Janraes had come in, he would have probably laughed or teased him about being excited and taking their father's harsh words so well. But perhaps in time, Janraes would see things the same way Aso did. That is what he hoped for, brothers need to stay together anyway.


Char 2
He’d kept a stoic face while listening to father prattle on about the family name. It wasn’t so much a lack of interest, as it was having heard the speech enough times he could recite it in his sleep. Backwards. Probably in another language. It was as expected nowadays as dining on the finest foods three-hundred and thirty-three kitchens could whip up.

What Janraes had found unexpected, was not only getting kicked out of the mansion, but being excluded from the will.

“Get your hands off me.” He hissed at the butler, jerking his arm from the raven demon’s grasp. “I can bloody well pack myself, I don’t need your help.” Back stiff with anger, he walked down the hall, his face a brittle mask over the boiling rage within.

How dare he? How dare he cut them out? Slacking? Pampering? He wasn’t pampered, and he never slacked! After all, if he’d been slacking, how else would he have the staff wary where to put their next step for one of his inventions? If he were pampered, would he have taken the time to pain-stakingly detail each one to the individual servants in the house? It wasn’t easy to make a few hundred servants scurry around like crazed ants, but he had figured out how to do it with but one or two well-placed traps.

And adding insult to injury about his clothes! Honestly, was his suit not clean? Freshly pressed, he thought the blood stains stood out quite nicely against the silky white fabric. Cleanliness indeed.

“What to do, what to do.” Janraes gnawed on his thumbnail absently, ruining the manicure. He’d never admit to it, but for the first time he could remember, he didn’t have a plan in place. And he didn’t like the queasy feeling it left in his gut.

“Gah, dammit!” He exploded out of his chair, pacing the expansive bedroom that would soon no longer be his. “Damn him for this, this… charade!” He leaned on the edge of his desk, cluttered with countless trap designs. Most weren’t lethal. Or crippling. “This certainly throws a wrench in things… wonder how Aso’s taking it.”

Janraes winced. As much as he enjoyed tormenting his brother, he didn’t relish the sight of him on the streets either. True, he might have tried to cripple him one or two dozen times, but it was all in good fun. He took a slow, deep breath. He knew his brother, studious little goody two-shoes was probably applying to the Academy already.

He frowned as the thought occurred to him. The Academy… Amityville Academy. If Aso was going there, why not follow to keep an eye on his brother?

The frown slowly crept up into a cruel grin. Yes, that would work. Keep an eye on his brother, and perhaps ensure his studies didn’t go as well as planned. Janraes chuckled as he sat down at his desk. Oh yes, this was going to work perfectly.
