I suppose it does come across like that, though I don't mean to. I have in the past tried RP's that have piqued my interest that I've had no creative control over except for my character.

I believe that there are RP's out there that I would enjoy joining, it's just that the ones that are here currently not to my tastes.

In my offline gaming involves a lot of things I can't control a lot of. I play a pathfinder game with a good friend of mine who is telling an amazing story that's better than a lot of books I've read. I've recently finished with another group that also had an interesting story. I regularly play board games with my friends and at work in my down time I read books of all genres.

I hope that my replies haven't come across as rude or unintentionally blunt, but if they have, it may be due to external forces influencing me. When you get to the age where you have a newborn and a full time job, then you may understand.

I sure hope you don't think I am a teenager. lol I am 35! But, I am glad that you explained yourself. I am equally happy that I had been right the first time when I learned of what type of a role-player you are.

In a way...you remind me of my brother-in-law named Kyle. He has a newborn son named Link and he works full-time at the Brick warehouse. It'd be a small world if you were him.

Anyhow, since you mentioned reading and you like original role-plays a lot, I keep thinking of another guild I am in where its more story than role-plays. Ah, now I remember the name of it! "The Writer's league guild extraordinarre".

Heh, the name's not Kyle and I mistake 95% of people on Gaia for being at least 8 years younger than me. I'm almost 29.

As for joining another guild, I'm holding off for now.

On the flip side, if someone wants to do a RP based off Log Horizon, I'd jump on board that all day long. I did try and do that with one of my friends, but both of us got massive writer's block. Also, if you haven't watched Log Horizon, I highly recommend it.

@ Empress: *scratches head why someone would use the male pronoun for me as it has never happened on GaiaOnline before, but doesn't care enough as it is English's neutral pronoun and I tend to use gender neutral pronouns in my head-but half the time I think in Latin so I have the option of always using it as applied to a person...* Anyways, it comes off that you are trying to force me into a role-play when you are saying a bit indigently 'why aren't you joining my role-play' and keep pushing it. You've been a hair pushy about it.

Honestly, creating and running one role-play is a lot of work. I have the greatest respect for those who do or propose an idea as well wrote out as you (even if the actual role play doesn't catch my attention-if you stalk my activities here you may have noticed that generally I only have been showing interest in things that have fairly well defined parameters.)

I generally only join role-plays others set-up because well, controlling parameters and all that isn't to my liking. Now, that Naruto story line doesn't kill off Sasuke like I've wanted since like the first story arc of Naruto or give him major counseling, but it does catch my interest. Where I read up to gives me a solid foundation to work in that time jump arc. And, I could actually do several canon or original characters in that. 3nodding 3nodding It all depends on what you are looking for and how it is presented on what I would end up doing. (Though, a more set profile layout compared to your other role-plays would make me even more interested in jumping in, but I know people have different preferences on that). However, I could 95% guarantee I would jump on board with that Naruto plan.

On a side note, I feel so young hearing everyone's ages since I'm only 23 at the moment (well, legally I age up tomorrow, but meh...) sweatdrop

@mc2 - the only problem I have with you now is that you are making incorrect assumptions about what I am trying to do. Likely because you aren't reading the entire posts that I have been making in this thread alone. You are beginning to remind me of someone in another guild who got a lot of demotions for their stubbornness.

So listen good, mc! I AM NOT TRYING TO FORCE ANYONE TO ROLE-PLAY!!!!

If you would have read what everyone else posted, they said that:

1. The guild is still young and there are 100 members, so I cannot expect everyone to participate in mine.

2. This guild is based off of a give and take idea. If I role-play with others, then I will get a better idea of what they are into. I cannot expect them to role-play with me if I don't role-play in theirs first. Its always a good idea to prove ones words before being all boasty about it.

3. Some of the people that are in here simply shouldn't be because they aren't interested in role-playing at all, therefore are just wasted space.

The reason I made that list earlier wasn't to force anyone to role-play. It was to find out a sample of the role-plays that others are into like a neutral question, curiosity. With the way you are accusing me, it makes you look like a murderer wanting to kill this cat for simply being curious.

I also believe, if I am not mistaken that one of the guild rules is to get along with the other members and right now...you are breaking that rule by continuously assuming things and making an argument out of it.

I even joined that Sword Art online RP to prove to everyone that I am flexible and that I believe what the others are telling me that it will take some time for others to really get into the role-plays I make and at the same time, I can make better role-plays based on what they are interested in. Its how I can improve on being a role-player.

@Panthera - I might watch that show later on. I am currently re-watching all of the episodes of beyblade and I am only on season 2 of I think they made 5 seasons. Anyway, once I am through watching beyblade, I will consider watching Log Horizon. I just have one question though...is it an anime? If so, then I have no worries. It will be on the same site as where I am watching Beyblade.

Yus, it's an anime, I watched it on crunchyroll. There's only one season so far, but the short novels are still being written and they're waiting for the author to write enough before making into anime.

Woah, woah, woah! It's merely how I feel in the situation. What I interpret as a 'hair pushy' (which please note, I mean nothing beyond the actual statement) is very different to other people. Besides it takes two for an argument. I'm not trying to and we don't need to be dragged into one by mis-communication on both of our parts. Besides communication is approximately 70% visual and verbal tones help a lot. We don't have that advantage here.

I figure you are coming off far pushier than you ever intended due to limitations in the forum of communication and I am by far coming off far worse and ruder to you than I intend to. Also keep in mind we all come from different cultural backgrounds. Pushiness and rudeness is defined in different ways for different cultures and backgrounds. Just because what I am reading is being interpreted differently by me or you or anyone else for that matter doesn't mean an individual hasn't been reading the same post.

For example: I don't feel like I am trying to make an argument out of anything by merely saying how I interpret something but you do. Are you wrong in your interpretation necessarily? No, of course not. The written phrase "That's nice." could be interpreted dozens of ways depending on how you feel it was intended to be use. It could be fairly rude in intent or as someone actually really, really appreciative or thrilled about something or anything in between.

Neither of us should be getting defensive or feel attacked since you clarified that was not your intent and your meaning in the list now (and I interpreted it not how you intended it) and now you know where I stand on the matter and why I may have interpreted it exactly as I said a hair pushy and that I have been reading posts here. I mean I felt attacked by how you presented your curiosity and it was fairly rude but that isn't what you intended, and now I know.

Considering, you aren't the first person here to campaign for your role-play ideas and when I approach about it am pounced on in a way I would rather not be, it may be best for me to lurk in the shadows or leave the community. Seriously, woah the number of mis-communications is a bit boggling (I suppose it has only happened twice). Kind of feel like the outsider of the group, now, since my casual communication style isn't meshing well with a few here. sad

(But, I would like to think that by no means is your intent at the very least. Though exclamation marks and the dreaded all caps makes me wonder if you are trying to run me out, Dee... You aren't right? If not, I would love to be reassured that it is all a misinterpretation like I hope it is: that it did just go down where: I think you came off a hair pushy and thus way too forceful and you think I came off as stubborn and rude. And that neither of us had any intent of coming off-you were merely curious and I was merely responding to various presented (what I thought to be rough) ideas with mild interest others not so interested at.)

Quote:
Or the TL, DR version: You came off not how you intended and I came off not how I intended. Calm down on the exclamation marks and the caps key and let's just understand it was a bit of a mis-communication. It takes two to tango (or two to argue). I don't want to argue and never intended to come off argumentative. And, I don't think you do either. Thus, it would be silly to argue or get defensive (which helps fuel arguments) or think either of us are doing so at this point.

Well, I am glad that you explained yourself and apologized. So, apology accepted. smile

Yes, I do tend to interpret things differently than most, that is a given. And, I will admit it. But, when you live a life where animation is your reality for over half the time and reality itself seems to not want you around, it does make communicating to "real" people a tad difficult.

@Pathera - then I will most certainly consider your request to watching it. Who knows? It might be interesting. I just hope there isn't too much gore in it. The title doesn't seem to reveal it, so its worth a try.

Herro,
I joined about a week ago (I think...?) but I figured I should probably introduce myself, eventually, so here I am.
I've been roleplaying for almost a decade and more recently I have only been looking for 1x1s because the slower pace is more convenient to deal with while working full time. But all you really need to know about me is that I'm a crazy cat lady. cat_3nodding

Glad to know my explanation is accepted by you as adequate. I do really wish you got the memo, though, that how you communicated to me with exclamation marks and generous use of the caps key for a sentence was not cool in my book and fairly offensive in presentation (never mind some of the statements made)... Can't have everything, right? So, I'll take the excuse presented instead of an actual claiming of any responsibility and move on.

Anyways, you do write up good role play set-ups. It should really increase your chances of gathering interest. And people are reading them just the right person interested in the particular genre, series, or plot hasn't come along yet from the sounds of it. 3nodding 3nodding

Best of luck in your search!

Thanks. And when I did take a look at the sub-forum again, it looked like only me and one other person had created role-plays.

Hey there y'all,

Let me introduce myself, I am Peaches. I've been on Gaia for roughly six years and an avid role player for nearly 10 years. I admit, most of that time has been on IMVU instead of Gaia, however that is all changing with the advent of quality players that I have seen here, as well as the mass exodus of quality from IMVU. I generally enjoy dang near most genres, with a tendency to hang out in the fantasy realms a bit more than I would prefer. The way I see it, different genres give me a chance to stretch my writing muscles a bit outside of my normal comfort zone. Lately, I have indulged in the delightfully devious, oft sadistic, and more than thrilling sphere of dark romance, aka horror. I absolutely LOVE it.

I am here hoping to find a few good partners to play with, brainstorm with and perhaps become friends with. I favor long term rp partners to short term, but I will do short term in the event that I am bored. (Which I am now)

Hellooo~ fellow Gaians! My name is Midnas Lament, however I am commonly referred to as either Rae or just Midna. I've been on Gaia for quite some time, and I have an extensive history in roleplaying (as well as an extensive amount of improvement). I'm 16 years old, and I've probably been roleplaying since I was like, 12, so it wasn't all that good in those days. Anyways, I'm very excited to join an active roleplaying guild, and I'm looking forward to exploring the adventures we can have together!

Genres wise, normally I like to dig into either the knitty gritty aspect of the horror genre, or go off into a world of fluffy kittens and unicorns, normally in the romance genre. Many a time though, I have been dragged into quite the fantasy roleplay, as well as the uncommon sci-fi (to be honest I would kill for a dystopian roleplay, but those are hard to come by). Anyways, thanks for taking the time to read this, and yeah!

To all three of you: Welcome to the guild smile

@ Peaches: I heard about IMVU a long time ago, but never bothered with it. There was allegedly some kind of adware in its client (but that could just be FUD from other sites...)

@ Midnas Lament: You're making me think of some ideas for a sci-fi RP...
