If Bakarn had been aware of C’tis – or of C’tis’ approval – he likely would have paused to give his squiremaster a grin and a thumbs-up. However, that would have involved taking his eyes off an aggressive baby dragon to see that the bluerider had shown up to watch, so it was probably for the best all around.

But she wasn’t… she wasn’t actually attacking anyone. She was charging, feinting, watching them all challengingly; it reminded Bakarn more of a duelist sizing up an opponent than the usual blind maulings that occurred when distressed hatchlings encountered crowds of Candidates. She wasn’t upset, she knew exactly what she was doing. What a lady. Bakarn’s gaze flickered away only momentarily when Lashings of Ginger Beer hatched… that one had been so excited to see him too – another green!

Oh, he would take a green in a heartbeat. They were fast. They were clever. They were the dogfighters, the front lines, the best at mopping up Thread that the bigger dragons couldn’t even try to touch.

The big piebald green made a noise that even Bakarn could recognize as strange. What was that supposed to be? Was she trying to roar at them again? But before he could ponder it much further, Ginger Beer hurled right into her sibling and the two of them slammed into each other in a whirling ball of wings and claws and small, heavy bodies. He yelped, undignified, and hustled to get out of the way of the tiny green hurricane headed through the Candidates... but not too far, just in case. Were they all right? Baby dragons were pretty sturdy things – Ginger Beer seemed to be having the time of her life, and Roar sounded more angry than distressed, but – oh Faranth, let this not go badly.

Still no charges, and everything still seemed to be going all right. The green made a noise...Seytev tilted his head back at her. But she didn't seem to be causing trouble, yet, and though he remained ready, poised on the balls of his feet in preparation for whatever happened next, he was perfectly willing to turn his attention when the Lashings of Ginger Beer egg spilled its (green) contents onto the ground.

Seytev remembered that the egg that one had come from had been nothing but sweet excitement and eagerness to meet everyone - had the patchy green just charged Keralder? Was that going to - "Hey!" he called quickly, but she was back in the crowd after a moment. Testing them. She was testing them. Taking his eyes off the patchy green for only a moment, he turned back to Lashings of Ginger Beer, who seemed to have found her feet.

She wouldn't be a problem. Just another green, cute and not vicious and...oh, Faranth, was she heading right for the patchy, angry green. Who wasn't paying any attention whatsoever to - yep, that was a complete collision.

...Faranth, they were...was it fighting?

"Shards," he mumbled, moving his center of gravity down just a little in preparation to get the shells out of the way should the tangle of limbs and teeth come within striking distance.

He would like to say he'd been thinking something clever where he had decided that she must be listening for one particular mind... But to be perfectly fair if he had any clever thoughts at the time they were discarded in a sort of white noise of -reacting- as his legs were knocked out from under him and everything became the animal urge not to fall under their claws and teeth, and the other more rational voice protesting wildly that he somehow needed to defy gravity or other laws of nature... Basically whatever it took not to fall on their -wings-. Not falling, even with other grab able arms and torsos nearby didn't seem like an option... More like a question of who was going down WITH him.

If Alcine seemed tense when Hear Me Roar began her approach, she seemed to calm herself when Deruvene arrived, glancing at the boy with a soft smile of approval. She reached up and touched his hand in acknowledgement, then moved back further still, putting some distance between herself and the other two, taking slow, careful steps. Bakarn was right: the more space the dragonlings had, the calmer they tended to be, and Alcine wasn't about to be the one to test Hear Me Roar's mood. She'd had the feel of a predator in the egg, and out of it still commanded the same sort of respect. That warbled cry, though...something about it didn't seem quite right. She nearly jumped when the green lunged for Kidder, but kept herself still despite her anxious nerves. With a gulp, she forced down the worries that threatened to bubble up to the surface of her mind: the last thing she needed was the green smelling her fear and deciding she was prey.

Between her assessments of the Hear Me Roar hatchling, Alcine caught sight of the second green, in what appeared to be a considerably better mood than her sister. However, her inner worries began to rise again as the smaller green began to build up momentum, barreling into her sister, and then--Kidder fell under the tangle of bodies, which continued to roll forward, and--

Alcine had enough thinking power to fall sideways when the pair of greens knocked her over, but she fell all the same, a tangle of her own limbs on the scalding sands. Her arms and legs shot up to cover her head and torso respectively, in the event that claws or teeth went flying, but between the ball her limbs curled into she was glancing around, looking for the other candidate. Where was Kidder, was he hurt?

Oh, well, dragons wrestling was both a worrisome and healthy thing to do. Deruvene was torn between panic that they could hurt one another (and a candidate or two in the process) or cooing over the already overly familiar way they handled themselves. The newest green sounded happy for what it was worth and the first green wasn't....hurt? It didn't matter though because they were coming and happened to knock people down, prompted Deruvene to frown and step away as fast as he could. Alcine wasn't so lucky it seemed, and he groaned as he watched her go down.

Keeping an eye on the greens, he slowly inched his way towards her once he was sure the coast was clear. "Alcine? You okay?" A look to the greens had him hissing something under his breath too. "Knock it off ladies, someone is going to get hurt at this rate."

That was not a good thing. The piebald green was testing them, keeping them in a tight group and not paying attention to her sister. Who was running and there they went in a rather unhappy ball of limbs, straight into the tight little group of Kidder, Deru, and he wanted to say Alcine.

The two dragons rolled straight over Kidder - probably leaving him with more then a few nicks and crushing the breath out of him into the bargain - and into Alcine, before Hear Me Roar managed to free herself from her sibling, whirling around in a shower of teeth and claws and red eyes to confront her decidedly… blue-eyed sibling? Hear Me Roar paused, apparently considered - and Lashings darted forwards then drew back, apparently attempting to invite her sister to play!

That was a rather odd sound for a hatchling to make. Brishen moved through the crowds, having caught sight of Jasiline and decided to keep her company. “Jasi!” He called, moving around a couple and grinned brightly. Ooh… look, fighting babies and that was sort of cute. Like canine pups, since the second green didn’t really want to hurt her sister. Just play it looked like. “Did you notice the sort of mini Sanuyeth?”

Well. The two baby dragons rolled straight over one of the boys and into one of the girls. That was the point at which it stopped being funny.

Bakarn approached cautiously, eyes moving rapidly over the two of them, looking for the telltale red – that was the one good thing about Candidate white robes, shells, that was probably why Candidates had to wear white robes, to make blood stand out so the Healers could do their jobs better. “You two all right? Should I signal a healer?” Bakarn didn’t know the first thing about actual healing, apart from blood is important, keep it inside the body. But if they were well enough to respond to the question, then they would probably be fine enough until a healer showed up.

His eyes returned to the two greens, who were in… some kind of standoff? Roar still looked ready to fight, but Ginger Beer looked more like a playful canine, trying to draw her more serious sister into some kind of rough-housing. “Hey,” Bakarn called to the pair of greens, keeping his voice light and nonthreatening, “if you two are gonna wrestle, give us a chance to get outta the way first?”

That was probably an incredibly inadvisable thing to do, but… Roar had liked him, and Ginger Beer was like a happy puppy. What was the worst that could happen?

"I'm fine too... Thanks for asking..." Kidder
wheezed, his own voice a bit off tune from being rolled over.... And
Intensely glad that his careful and slow self examination did not find him holding his own intestines. There were a handful of cuts, he didn't pause to wonder which might need stitches (his clothing definitely would ) since right now it was more important that he had survived to tell the tale. "Faranth's shell..."

He didn't wait for help, scrambling back to his feet and grimacing at the bright sparks of pain from his injuries. He'd bitten his cheek in the roll, and drawn a bit of blood. Combined with hot sand it was not pleasant... Or cute... And his tolerance for people cooing at the greens was at zero. Let them get run over, maybe it would remind them this was serious.

The tangle didn't come his way at all.

In fact, the tangle aimed itself directly at Alcine and Keralder, and as soon as they were clear of the pair, Seytev was moving. Bakarn headed in Keralder's direction, and Seytev was right behind him, offering a hand to Alcine as Keralder got to his feet. "You okay?" he asked, an echo of Bakarn's question. He really didn't want to have to go running off after Healers again. Hopefully today wouldn't be a repeat of the Touching.

And then Bakarn made noises at the dragonets, and Seytev winced, eyebrows disappearing rapidly into his hair. "Really, Bakarn?" That was what he was going to go with? Possibly antagonizing that red-eyed dragonet by calling out to it? But...well, that was Bakarn all over: act first, consequences later. "If you get yourself mauled, I'm not gonna forgive you," he muttered.

As soon as it seemed she was clear of the greens, Alcine began to unfurl from her defensive ball, glancing at the sparring dragons warily and she helped herself up. "No harm done," she softly responded to Deruvene, dusting herself free of the sand on her arms as she checked herself for scrapes. Other than the hit to her pride, she seemed largely unharmed, which was more than she could say for most people who had been knocked over by a pair of wrestling greens. The same certainly could not be said for Kidder, who she looked to with a worried glance as he pulled himself to his feet. She worried for the boy, but she knew better than to rush to his side, for multiple reasons. After all, he wasn't the sort to take well to coddling, and there were still unbonded dragons on the loose.

"No healers here," she called out to Bakarn, signalling that she was okay before falling back in line, keeping careful eye on the pair. What was play for them could be spilled innards for her, and that was sure to ruin her day.

Bakarn’s shout did draw attention, Ginger Beer’s head jerking around - and the moment of distraction was all that was required for her sibling to strike, bowling the other green over with a well-aimed slap of her tail. Ginger Beer toppled over and rolled a foot or so, eyes wide in surprise - and Hear Me Roar, honour apparently satisfied, trotted away to investigate some candidates on the other side of the impending incident.

the green stared at him, still upside-down. you play with your Blyth? I don’t think she really gets it>

"No healer, it's ok..." Kidder confirmed as well with a wave to Bakarn. Nice of him to ask anyway...

He resisted the urge to wipe at stinging cuts, since it would only grind sand into them and be trouble later. Anyway...had Lashings just...

He was pretty sure she had. First bond of the proper hatching then... Not including the knocked free brown. Well done then...

A small frown tugged at Vanavia's features as she watched the first green. If she had been on the sands then she would have probably been making an effort to keep an eye on all the hatchlings since she was hoping to impress and also at risk, but as a spectator she could simply watch what was going with curiosity. Hear Me Roar was a curious case indeed. She watched carefully as the green approached a candidate, backed up and then charged. From here the green didn't seem too aggressive, more trying to test them all. Maybe that was how she planned to find the one she wanted, the one that would stand their ground, or move out of the way.

The trill had her glancing at the second green, double-taking as she went thundering towards her sister. She needed to move. Why wasn't she moving? Vanavia winced as the two collided, rolling and taking out a few candidates in their path. Oh no, she hoped they would all come out of it alright. Still the thought nagged at her, why hadn't the green heard her sister coming? At least the second green seemed to be in good spirits and not attacking the green. Although she doubted that would be much comfort to the candidates on the sands.

They managed to untangle themselves and the way Lashings darted back and forth reminded her of a playful young canine or how Smith could be some time. The blue chirruped from her lap at the positive connection, settling more contently into her lap. The candidates were getting to their feet and that was definitely a good thing. Everything seemed like it was going to end we- maybe not. The second green turned her head only to have the first lash at her with her tail. Now that was bad form to strike while her sister wasn't looking. The poor dear looked so shocked, but at least the pale green was now trotting away from it all.
