T'rel usually didn't think twice about addressing his Weyr; but in times like these, one had to remember that he was a very young Weyrleader, with even less experience. He wasn't used to having dragonriders at his beck and call. He wasn't used to being in charge. Blond curls had been brushed out to perfection, resting just below the young man's ears. A harper blue gather tunic, with an equally blue firelizard draped around his shoulders. His brown eyes seemed to reveal his discomfort, and though his smile did not quite reach his eyes, there was something warm about it. He was happy for the Weyrlings--yes. Still, something seemed to be bothering the young Weyrleader.

He stood from his seat, lifting his goblet. "Welcome to Ista," he addressed the family members of their newest dragonriders first and foremost. "Once Dragonriders were the saviors of Pern, fighting Thread and keeping our holds and Weyr safe. I strongly believe that Dragonriders will be needed once more!" Dragonriders were more or less a memory now days, of a more dangerous time. Some thought dragons were only useful as beasts of burden. Not T'rel; he suspected--hoped even, though hope might have been too strong a word, that Pern would prove its need for dragonriders once more. They had had a few holder candidates--and some of them had been more than a little disrespectful. No matter. This was a time for celebration. "Weyrlings! This feast is for you. Congratulations on Impressing!" He paused, brown eyes falling on A'lin. "I might remind some of you that Weyrlings have a duty first and foremost to their dragons. Do not do anything that may harm their developing minds." Weyrlings were strongly encouraged to avoid relationships, alcohol, the list was longer than T'rel cared to remember. "Curfew's in a few hours," he added, grinning. He couldn't help but tease. "That said, I propose a toast. To our newest Weyrlings and their families!"

He was less strict than the Weyrleader had been when he'd been a weyrling; and probably less traditional. He was young, inexperienced, and gullible. "This is a time for you to meet fellow dragonriders--to celebrate with your families and friends. Enjoy it." The dragons only knew these weyrlings would be getting precious little free time after tonight.
