"Ladies, please, I have no desire to slow you down or cause you further harm..." he gulped and shifted again in great embarrassment. "But if you could tolerate my presence I would like to try to make up for my blunder by escorting the two of you out of this harsh land."

"Rell ro!" Jade snapped but then instantly regretted it. Honestly this entire situation was completely unfair. All she wanted was a little adventure and now she had to deal with Cynder and her insanity, this moron and his stupidity, and now she couldn't even talk to grip about it! She really needed to find a travel coordinator or something be cause this mess just wasn't working out for her...

Cynder truly did feel bad for her near mute companion, "I believe what my friend is trying to say is that we will gladly decline your company. Like I said, the dessert is a dangerous place and we'll take out chances on out own without the interference of an individual who has only proven that he does not know how to manage himself in these types of situations. I wish you the best in managing yourself in this hostel environment, but we neither want nor need your help, thank you."

"No, wait!" Chrysoar called after the pair and trotted along behind the two mares. "Please, I can help you! I promise. Somehow..." He continued to trot after them, struggling a little with the slipping sands that made his hooves fly in all sorts of unexpected directions. "Come on!" he pleaded to the backs of their heads what continued to completely ignore him. "Just give me a chance?" he held his breath as the one with the wrap paused and turned towards him slowly.

"No thank you!" Cynder said firmly. "You are exceedingly unhelpful in almost every way. We are in a dangerous environment and the last thing we need is some foolish oaf getting us all killed. I wish you all the luck in the world and then some for you to find your way, I believe you will need it all. We however do not need you to assist us in our trek aside from leaving us well enough alone!"

"But...what if I knew a shortcut out of the dessert?" he asked with desperation. He really wanted to prove himself. He hated looking like a fool and only wanted to be of service to these ladies. But he couldn't do anything to help them if they eschewed him right off the bat. and he really did feel sorry for that whole cactus lip thing...he did! All he needed was one more chance to prove himself!

"You..." she said flatly eying up the stallion even as she heard Jade make a horribly impatient noise. "You know a short cut....through the dessert?" she arched an eyebrow in disbelief. "Now I think you're kinda full of it, but go on. Tell us how we can get past the dessert so quickly?"

Crap. He didn't think she'd actually listen to that part! "Well, I er..." he stumbled trying to cover for his newest blunder. He felt like this was his last chance and made a last ditch effort for the pair to accept him. Of course it would have helped if he hadn't put his hoof quiet so deeply into his mouth. He saw the pair turn and start to leave again. "Ok, well I don't know a shortcut per say out of the dessert, but I er...I know the journey won't feel nearly as long if we do it to a song?" he offered what he hoped was a winning smile and showed off some of his fancy foot work.

She couldn't believe that she had even given him the time of day, especially when the days were so long and hot around here. "A song and dance routine?" she demanded, the irritation rippling through her voice. "That's your idea of an advantage in the desert? Fine, you go right on ahead and start your song and dance. In this heat the dancing and perspiration that will follow should leave you dehydrated soon enough and that's only if your singing doesn't dry your throat completely and coat it in sand. I'll put 20 quid that you fall right on over and pass out within an hour. Jade, you want to take the over odds on that bet?" she noted that the other mare at least had an amused expression on her face, a great change from her dour expression not too long ago. Still, the wound on her face looked pretty bad and the wrap that they had applied wasn't going to do much in this harsh environment to protect her. "Enough fooling around, we must find something that resembles civilization and I just don't think that's going to happen with you around..."

"Oh no, wait, please!" Chrysoar yelped as the mares started to head off. "I promise I can be some sort of an asset some how!" He paused to think for a moment and added in desperation, "Besides, this is....um...a Free Desert!" he nodded and felt pleased with his revelation. "Yeah, so that means I can travel where ever I want and..." he thought for a few moments more and concluded. "And that means I can just follow you...and I can still help you!"

Cynder had heard more than enough and indicated through a brisk nod of her head to Jade that they were leaving. With the injured mare in tow and called back to the stallion, "The only part of your little speech there that had any truth to it is that you're an a**. You follow us at your own risk. We certainly won't be helping you with anything. In fact we might even start cheering on those vultures that are circling over you head right now..."
In truth Cynder was not quite so heartless...on most days. Although she particularly detested fools and she had met few more foolish than this empty headed stallion who seemed to take to stalking women who had no interested in him. That alone would have been enough to annoy her on the best of days but his callous mistreatment or worse, complete idiotry towards her traveling companion was entirely unacceptable. A fool like that who wanders into the desert would face the consequences.

"Oh come on!" Chrysoar called still stumbling after them. His sure feet that propelled him gracefully though the forest and occasionally up and down steep mountain terrain were not fairing well against the sand. In fact he was sure that he was going to take a week long bath as soon as he got somewhere with a sufficient amount of water. Besides, her comment had drawn his attention sharply to the trio of looming shadows that seemed to circle him endlessly. This really wasn't a good place to be alone. He continued his slip and slide trip through the sand tailing them clumsily - no, he wasn't a stalker! He just didn't want to be out here alone anymore...surely that didn't make him a stalk- "Opppph!" he grunted as something in the sand caught his foot causing him to fall flat on his face into the sand. The dry rough sand honestly didn't do much to cushion his fall, but all was forgotten when he looked back and saw what caused him to trip, "Um...uh, ladies...you might want to see this...."

"I'm pretty sure we don't," Cynder said yet something in his tone caused her to turn back if only for a moment. She blinked for a moment as her brain scrambled to make sense of what she was seeing. The blinding white was enough to make her shrink back further into her hood. Of course she would expect no less, bones left out here exposed to the elements were often bleached by the sun's intense light rays. "I'm not sure if you'd noticed, but we are in the desert. And as I've expressed, things do occasionally die in the desert. Those bird friends of yours up there are pretty sure you'll join the likes of that one soon enough. If you were wise you'd high tail it out of here, for you own good."

"Oh really? You see many birds leaving tooth and claw marks like this? Because that would be a new one by me..." the stallion replied dryly.
Cynder wrinkled her nose, but nonetheless, after a quick glance with her now mute companion, she backtracked to see for herself what had the loud mouth stallion all shock up. As she drew nearer to the bones she saw quickly that they were not what she expected. To begin, they were much larger than she had expected. Much more the size of herself and her companions. Second, she regretfully had to admit that Chrysoar was correct, the bones did show signs of a large creature not only scratching at them but also biting, chewing, and eating directly off the bones with large, and clearly sharp teeth. Worse than that, from her vantage point, it looked suspiciously like the creature's neck had been severed from the attaching bit of a very large and deadly predator. She really, really wished it had just been the vultures.

"Well?" Chrysoar demanded, a little bit of shrillness entering his voice.
"We should keep moving," she said quietly and turned back to stride to Jade's side. "You should come too," she said just loud enough for the stallion to hear. "If there's anything around here that can do damage like that...if that thing is anywhere nearby, well - no one should have to suffer like that. So hurry up, and don't you dare slow us down!" She glanced back just in time to see a blur of gold streak on past her. She was already regretting change of heart and change of mind. But she had her own code that she followed, and leaving the fool out here to be devoured by a monster left her with a foul taste in her mouth. "And you'd be best to keep your mouth shut!" she called after him.
