Haveo felt the weight upon him. Amazingly enough it was just the neck he was caught under. The adolescent struggled, growling, out from underneath the grey creature. It took a few more minutes but his head became free. He gasped a bit and coughed. His lungs were aching and there was a copper taste upon his tongue. He wasn't sure if that was his own blood or the creatures. He looked to the other two females.
The job was not yet done. With out hesitation he snapped his jaws around the larger creatures neck. He felt a liquid seep into his mouth and down his throat. The creature's movement slowed and eventually stopped. Violet eyes darted towards the creature's head. It's eyes were open and glazed. He hated seeing dead eyes.
With an uncontrolled anger he let go of the kill's neck and furiously scratched at the haunting eye. it seemed like a slow hour before he stood back and gazed at the bloodied socket. The dead eye was much more disturbing. He turned to his pack members. "Is anyone hurt?"

With Ujuzi's help, the two females managed to keep the wilderbeast from getting to its feet again. Jumping onto it's shoulder flank, she was able to bite one front leg without too much danger of getting kicked in the face. Unfortunatly she could just see part of Haveo stuck under beast's neck. "Haveo!" She tried to speak to him through clenched teeth.
It was a hugh relief when Haveo wriggled free and was able to make the killing bite. Slowly but surely the prey's energy and life force was drained away, leaving the wild dogs safe and with a satisfying meal. Well safe so long as any other scavenging predators didn't come along.
Haiji jumped down from the should she stood on and went over to each of her pack mates, Haveo's question already in her mind. "I'm fine, how about you? Ujuzi, you didn't get kicked did you? And Haveo, are you alright? You got squashed."
She noticed he had gnawed out the dead animal's eye and wondered if it was because he liked them. Some animals did, vultures and such. Maybe it was something he'd picked up from his time with the hyenas? It didn't occur to her that he might find it disturbing.

 She barely dodged a flying hoof, and quickly followed the alpha's example by snapping onto the offending leg and quelling the beast's struggles just a bit further.
Ujuzi found herself just mildly surprised by Haveo's fervor in attacking the dead beast's eye, and had to avert her gaze as it became a bloodied mess. Oh well.
She nodded to Haiji instead, glad that Haveo was seemingly unharmed.
"I'm fine."
She allowed a small grin to form, a rush of excitement coarsing through her.

"I'm fine as well." Haveo peered down at the kill...their kill. It felt good the think that. Something that was not only his...but theirs. He looked at the females, a smile upon his face. Softly and just to himself he said, "At last...I'm finally...apart of something." How he'd waited so long to have this feeling. To be apart of something real. To not be alone and outcasted, this is what he wanted.
He was excited, thrilled. His hate toward that eye was gone and he smiled a real one.

Satisfied that her companions were unharmed, Haiji let herself smile. She hadn't taken down a large prey even half the size as this since she was a juvenile with her mother, and even then she didn't help in the hunt as much as she had here.
"We did it." Haiji yipped, sounding genuinely pleased with their achievement. Just like a real hunting pack, she thought. And even with just the three of them! She'll remember this moment.
But of course the reason for their hunt, and what made their success even better, was that they now had a very good meal to satisfy their bellies. After a couple more 'victorious' barks, she lowered her head and began to tear at the fallen prey's side. Pausing momentarily, she looked to the other and licked the blood from her smiling maw. "We caught this together and we will share it evenly."

Ujuzi allowed a small laugh at their alpha's glee, perhaps the first one she'd ever given since meeting the other. There had been smirks and smiles, but not laughter yet. It was rich with her own feeling of exhiliration, and she rose from her paws to shake off as the alpha verbally expressed her joy.
Ujuzi let forth just a short series of yowling barks as well before the feasting began, and took a moment to savor the scent of a hard earned meal. Her eyes cast over to Haveo with a small smile. This officially made him one of the pack, in her book, which was more than she could have said for poor Dhati. Haiji's words just earned a nod of satisfaction from the older female, who was all too happy to share things fairly. They really hadn't done bad for themselves at all for such a small lot. This was going to be quite the pack they formed.
She began helping herself just to Haiji's left, without further words.

 Haveo stepped quietly towards the larger part of the corpse. Share it...equally? This wasn't something he was used to. All of a sudden he felt very small and alone, hungry. His mind replayed the many times where he was left with the smallest of scraps. The pups were always top priority, but he wasn't one of them...he was last.
Though at last the male bent down and took his first bite of this kill. The flesh was still warm, and even more so bloody. He hadn't gotten his maw this wet with blood before, it was an invigorating feeling. Like nothing else before. He feasted like he had never been able to before.

(( We could probably draw this one to a neat close soon ish, if everyone's happy with that? )) Though Haveo was reluctant at first, he soon joined them. And Ujuzi did ate with enthusiasm. It was greatly pleasing to see it. Hunting together, feeding together, like a family. And they would sleep well tonight, full and content.(( Sorry. Complete mind blank. sweatdrop ))
