Please, go read "Nihon no Manjuu" and try not to scold me too much for ever letting such a plot bunny gnaw on me. I'm personally getting tired of Saiyuki fics.
*dang, am I slipping back into that deep hole of depression again??!*
Well anyways, probably the right thing to say is I'm getting tired of the lack of plot in sh-ai fics. I'm guilty of it myself; my current fics are sadly lacking in plot. I want to start back on that first 383 fic I did, which I termed as 'pure' cuz even though it's 38, there is no kissing, touching, fondling whatsoever. It's a clean relationship and there's a plot in that.
I will leave further ramblings on that fic in the 383 thread...
Anyways, yeah... so basically now I'm trying to look for a 'clean' and 'pure' sh-ai fics. And general ones too, meaning strictly platonic. Hard to find these days; it'll be a prized gem if I manage to get one.
Oh yeah, MS sucks... totally! Actually I did wrote a Mary-Sue once, under a different pen name, of course. Kehkeh, boy, was I roasted! I then decided to give MS fics a chance, since the hurt was still fresh in mind. But gah... came to a point where I realized MS is not to be pitied upon! sweatdrop
Pairings, well, up to your own personal preferences. I read whatever is good and well, tolerable enough for my eyes. xp

I think most any fan-girl-esque person who is a Saiyuki lover and a writer's been guilty of it. Smut's fun to write, there's no shame in that. And smut can have plot, too. But... I understand by 'clean' you mean free of a physical relationship, right? When I see 'platonic' I think 'non-sexual:' non-physical. But is that with or without a mental relationship beyond simply friends? While it is certainly not the most important part of a relationship, physical attraction and affection is a major part of the bond two people who are more than friends share. It may define the boundaries, in fact.

This is one of the best sites ever to read fanfics from. I always come here and check out the new stuff. The webmistress had another site at first and I guess she moved eveything there. I think fanfic is great... as long as it's written well and all of the characters are in character. Though I don't find many Homura-tachi fanfics. sad

It depends on if the people writing the fics have any concept of the actual series....I mean, it's fine if the characters end up in weird situations that probably would never materialize in the series, but if Hakkai is hyper and perky and Goku gets sullen easily and decides to go on a diet, it's just annoying...

I am picky on my fics. Most Saiyuki fanfics I have ran into have self inserts, Mary-Sues or other dumb stuff.
I have seen some crappy stuff like the Saiyuki cast becoming girls, chibis to furries.
Neyah.. I wanna see a good Chin fic.

I love writing fanfiction, but I don't really like most of the Saiyuki fanfiction I find on FF.net. I'm not a big fan of romance (especially not in Saiyuki), and that's what 90% of Saiyuki fanfiction tends to be. xp
I myself have only written two stories on Saiyuki, one being a chapter fic involving some ice demons, and the other being a Sanzo and Goku centric one-chapter fic. (Not as a couple, though.)
So yeah. I like writing it, I just don't enjoy reading, much. XD;
