Panting hard, Calder shifted back to his normal form and sat down in the mud, completely at home and comfortable as he sat there. A hand went to his chest as he took deep breathes. "Why wouldn't they be? They're huge." He managed through breathes, not understanding why Zar would even have that idea.
"Don't people in your family fly?" He reached into his shirt and tossed away a fish back into the water. "You nearly gave me a heart attack flying with me with you." He shivered as he remembered being that high up in the air and just pawing into nothing.
He leaned back to lay half in the grass and half in the muddy water.

"Because they weren't." he said. They hadn't worked and he saw no reason why they ever would. He put his head in his hands. "And no. My father can fly I assume. But his wings are insectoid in nature and I have never seen him use them. My mother's wings are almost certainly decorative."
He shook his head. "And you aren't the only one who almost had a heart attack." He'd almost really and truly lost it down there. "And now I am filthy."

Calder glanced over at him. "You said you wanted to go fast." He turned his head to look back up at the sky. "And we did go fast." A satisfied grin spread over his face. "..so fast."
Though there was a twisting worry that soon weakened his smile with concern. Zar hadn't grabbed his reign. He let him go to that cliff. Did he just not know? What if Calder had gone too far and tore at him? What if Zar hadn't flown and scared him? "You should get better at swimming." He said, looking back at him. "It's not safe not to know how." Not if he expected to ride him again.
Then he worried. Would Zar want to ride him again?
Crawling through the mud over at him, he looked at Zar who seemed both upset and disgusted. Frowning, he moved up to him and between his knees to look up at him, touching his face. "I don't think so. Swamp scum looks pretty good on you." He smiled, and went to nuzzle and kiss his cheek.

Zar looked up and nodded. "Jack yes we went fast. That part was fantastic." He certainly wasn't complaining about the pace, it had been more thrilling than sitting in his room reading or sleeping, that was for absolute certain.
"I don't know if I'll get better at swimming. I have far too many appendages, they don't all really want to work with one another very well. But it doesn't matter anyway. I am rather used to waking up in the nurse's office at this point. Part and parcel of Amityville." he did seem to brighten at Calder's touch, his anxious smile turning far more genuine as he was kissed. "Hopefully all in all. I wasn't too bad though, I have never ridden like that before."

He gave a laugh as he reached up and pulled out a twig from Zar's hair, tossing it away before letting his hand run through the demon's hair to comb for any hidden bugs or leaves. "Well, a kelpie ride is not like your run-of -the-mill pony run through the woods. We're masters at speed and monsters are just naturally wild. It's in our blood." He said, prideful of his heritage even if he was clan-less. He still knew where he came from at the very root of this being. His race was ancient and born from the great currents and dark depths.
"It was great. I thought you must have ridden a mount before when we started off. You were so confident and I really needed that out of my system. I didn't know what else to do with myself. I was going nuts, but you just kept egging me on to go faster and let me go as fast as I wanted. Thank you." He leaned in to peck Zar on his lips before pulling away to look at him, just a bit uncertain. "You....wouldn't mind doing that again sometime - would you?" Maybe in a week....or a few days.

Leaning into the contact like a petted cat, Zar clearly rather enjoyed the attention on his soft but uncombed mane of hair, he'd managed to pick up a small portion of the forest on their wild charge through it and he was grateful for the help. "Evidently so." he said. "I would have been lucky to stay on if you weren't keeping me there."
"I haven't ridden a mount before, though I suppose by design I am inclined towards.. well." he waved a hand vaguely. "And it is certainly no fun when you have to keep your instincts in line, I am far happier when you let yourself really stretch and run as fast as you can. Being passenger to that is an experience."
At the peck on the lips his eyes narrowed down to mere slits and he once again seized his tail, remembering too late that it was slippery and awful. He tried not to think about it, instead smiling and nodding. "I would be more than happy to do it again. Anytime you like. It was most enjoyable."

"Hey, you were keeping a firm grip without my help. That tail helped me figure out a lot, but then again, you were rather vocal about it too." He also narrowed his eyes as he leaned in before grabbing one horn and tugging it down to one side. "...but we gotta talk about the slapping." He warned.
Unable to resist, he gave the horn a few strokes before releasing at the offer to go again anytime he pleased. Key words. Any time he liked.
"How about tomorrow?"! He asked suddenly, eyes practically sparkling as he looked at him. "J-Just warn me if you intend to do any flying practice. Heights freak me out." He admitted, sitting down down but still between Zar's legs. "I don't think my heart can take gliding like that without warning.." Or at all.
"But if you keep getting good as my rider, you'll know every single point in the woods and be able to take me to any launch point you want. Then, I guess you could jump off before you...do all that." The flying and the gliding and the overall floating there in mid-air that made Calder's skin shiver.
So scary.

When Calder grabbed Zar's horn, he all but froze over, his expression going carefully blank. He swallowed once, subtly as he once again fought back the tempest of sheer raw instinct that once again made itself overwhelmingly known to him. Even when he was released he kept his expression that same dazed and distant stare. Why the jack did it have to be his horns? "What about it?" he said low and quiet. "It worked didn't it?"
"Tommorow would be fine with me." he said patiently. "Perhaps once you are worn out we could both visit Barth and tell him about what a success this little venture has been. Don't worry though, I will not be carrying my wings that way again in future unless it is completely my intention to do so."
There was something thrilling about the idea of being able to glide like that again at all. It was a skill he wanted to hone and feel out the potential for anything beyond simply gliding. It felt doable. Many things felt more doable than they had in some time.
His tail slid free of his grip thanks to the combination of mud and slime and if it got away with it, around Calder's waist.
"For the time being though, I have to ask. How worn out are you?"

He gave Zar the stink-eye for thinking that slapping his rump was now a good way to get him started during a run. Not...that it was bad, but Calder felt that letting Zar have his way with tapping him like that just wouldn't do. Next time, if Zar slapped, he'd n**. If Zar continued to slap, well, Calder at least got the reward of nipping.
Sometimes nipping was nice. A rough, little, love bite on the tail.
As Barth was mentioned, Calder through back to the room he was doing more and more damage to these days and guiltily looked to the side. "Right. He'd...probably like to hear that I'm not as restless......and...I should buy some glue.............and nails.." He didn't look at Zar as he mentioned these things. He owed a lot in damages to Barth recently, and he knew he had to work hard in turn to make up for it.
He expected to ask Barth for a list of duties to do in return for payment of destroying a few bites of furniture, dishes, and some cushions.
Repayment plans were interrupted when he felt the tail about him and he looked down as he was squeezed once again about the waist. Letting his hands slide over the slick tail, he looked up slowly at the incubi with a smile. "Not enough. For a new rider, you trips are awfully short." He teased in innuendo, leaning in to look up at him and drag a bit of Zar's hair behind one pointed ear. "I'm up for another ride. Question is, how sore are you?"

Zar's breath was shallow at the contact on his tail and when he spoke his voice was underpinned with a kind of desperation not entirely distant from that Calder had displayed when he showed up on his doorstep a while earlier.
"Not nearly sore enough." he said.

And just as how Zar was more than happy to help Calder, the kelpie was all for assisting the demon.
"Oh, you are going to be a fun rider." He said, leaning in for another kiss. "But this time, let's not go too fast." and then kissed him.
