Astúcia nodded toward Daenerys, walking over to stand next to Umeko. He wanted to be at the ready when she needed him. Looking around he wondered a bit if he was a little too informal with the Queen sometimes... The others had a tendency to bow a lot. Shaking his head a bit, he decided that such idle things shouldn't cross his mind. Especially not when getting ready for something so very important. He wouldn't want to be distracted while scouting with Umeko in the sky.

There was still much that needed to be done to get ready. A few more soquili came forward and Daenerys was happy to accept their offers as well. Overall, she was proud at the level of participation. It spoke well to the character of her followers that they would risk themselves to protect soquili in a land that they were strangers to.

However, there was much to be done in the way of preparations and it was time to get to it. Calling only a few soquili to her side now, she left the group to discuss. The first and most obvious task was to set loose the scouts. After that, the hunt would begin...

Umeko was still a little surprised at who her scouting partner was but for once she had no complaints on the matter of having a partner assigned to help. Astúcia had saved her life so the trust factor that he would have her back was present. After gathering the information from Daenerys about the quarry they were seeking Umeko had taken a moment to seek out her mother to explain why she had volunteered.

With that taken care of the mare stood next to Astúcia. She glanced at the Kalona before inhaling deeply. "Are you ready to get started?"

With the question asked Umeko gave her wings a gentle shake. It was time to leave. Umeko felt her wings pump hard as they worked to lift her into the air.

Astúcia stood at the ready. Waiting for Umeko to finish what she had to with her mother, and staying a respectful distance away. He wasn't one to listen in on private conversations.

He smiled at her gently as she came to stand next to him, nudging her lightly as she posed the question, he nodded.

Spreading his wings out and starting to move them, Astúcia hopped off the ground a little to achieve some lift. He hovered there, waiting for Umeko to gather herself to be ready to take off.

Umeko had been strange company before but flying with Astucia to locate a mad Kalona who was terrorizing the local population was something altogether different it seemed. The pair had been flying steadily for a few hours now and there was no sight of the enemy. Umeko was curious about her fellow scouting partner's history but wouldn't pry at the moment. She caught sight of a pale splash of color flitting around her and she gave an amused sound as Gabriel circled around her head.

In a quiet voice she chided her familiar to remain alert. Messages would need to be sent right away if their quarry was sighted.

Winging her way to fly nearer to Astucia, Umeko realized that she had been rather silent so far. "Are you okay to go for a while longer Astucia?"

Pressure sets in to try and complete this scene change. Lol. I'm sorry for holding the RP up

Astúcia watched Umeko as she flew. He found her interesting, a seemingly weak lesser taking charge as such intrigued him to no end. Though he would never tell her that he had thought her to be strong. He had been able to tell how strong she was the first time they had met.

Watching carefully below them, he heard Umeko tell the little bird to pay attention. As he looked up, Umeko came closer to him, posing an interesting question.

"Though I am much more used to scouting on the ground, I can fly as long as I need to."

He smiled at her a bit, then directed his attention back to the ground, watching for the streak of grey that was sure to be the Kalona they were looking for. Internally he was still fighting the idea of hunting his own. Although he knew what the other did was wrong and that they should be brought to justice, there was something that didn't sit right with him about all of it. He shook his head to get rid of his doubts. It was wrong and the Kalona had to pay.

Umeko nodded in response to Astucia's comments before casting her gaze towards the ground. To her it was strange that Astucia had agreed to this mission when their quarry was one of his own species. Was he feeling any sort of conflict with the mission? She wasn't going to question his involvement though. Gabriel settled down enough that Umeko was satisfied that her familiar had taken her warning seriously. The mare had no idea of the thoughts that were running through the stallion's mind but had she any idea she would probably have been pleased.

Umeko's gaze once again swept the ground in passing. Something registered this time and she halted in her flight before hovering in the air. "Astucia! Down there! Is that him?"

She had spotted something large and gray on the ground below. She waited with bated breath, waiting for confirmation. Gabriel would need to be fast to carry the message to the group led by Daenerys.

~Twilight...Angel~
This is good news. Tag. I figure that enough "time" has passed that they can spot the Kalona now.

Astúcia continued along next to Umeko. To him, she seemed the type who would like to talk. Though he had not met many mares who didn't enjoy talking someone's ears off. He was glad that her mind seemed to be on the mission, even if his own mind was wandering a bit. Though the silence made it easy for a mind to wander.

His heart jumped as Umeko stopped in her tracks. Going around in a circle he looked down to where she seemed to have spotted something. He lowered himself a bit to get a better look, doing large circles around where the gray thing was.

It was him. Large and gray, scarred from many confrontations, a true war worn Kalona. Astúcia knew many, though none so depraved as to attack foals. He swept back up to Umeko, glancing back at the blood stained enemy sharpening his horns.

"It's him, send word quickly!"

Astúcia looked back, worried the Kalona might see them. He was confident he could hold his own against the equally large mad man, but Umeko would never be able to go hoof to hoof with such an opponent.

Upon hearing Astucia's confirmation of what they sought Umeko turned her head to gaze at Gabriel. She knew that he was fast enough to seek out where Daenerys and the others were waiting and yet at the same time she was afraid to let him leave her sight. Summoning up the mental willpower Umeko spoke softly to Gabriel, "You have to fly fast Gabe. Find Daenerys and let her know where we are. Go now my friend."

Umeko glanced towards Astucia as Gabriel flitted off to find the Khaleesi. Her gaze turned to the gray splotch on the ground and she shuddered briefly wondering just what was going through the beast's mind. Hopefully Gabriel would be able to complete the task she had been tasked with giving him.

I think my part is done in this ... except for maybe having a short reply after the group comes

Roniel ... is this okay? Do you want me to do a little write-up for Gabriel exclusively?

The group of hunters set out mere moments after Gabriel arrived with his news. Daenerys knew that there was little time to spare. More time spent preparing meant more time that the kalona could escape, or potentially attack Umeko and Astúcia. Besides, they were not humans who needed to garb themselves and gather their swords before an attack. They were soquili, and they needed little other than what as naturally gifted to them.

Daenerys herself flew overhead the group as they followed Gabriel to their quarry. Flying was easier than running for her, and this way she wouldn't slow them down. Her three dragons were not far off in the sky and she watched them thoughtfully between wing strokes. This did not seem like the correct time to unleash her draconic children. She resolved to only call upon them if the situation turned dire. Otherwise, she would trust her warriors to fight for her.

Rallie's breath snorted through his nostrils in heavy huffs as he ran. According to what he'd overheard, they were not far off from their enemy. Just as well, too. He was quite powerful over short distances but wasn't much for long distance galloping. The terrain around them worried him a little too. It was hilly and almost treeless, with massive craggy rocks jutting out of the ground at points, like the bones of fallen giants. There were plenty of places where an enemy might hide himself unseen. It made Rallie glad that their queen was aloft. At least she wouldn't be ambushed from that position.

User Image His flight that morning had started off as a joint training exercise and hunting trip. Auchindoun and his mistress had donned their armour while trying to recall the exact details of a boar they had flown over the evening before. Today they would hunt it down. In a successful mission they would be able to verify that the boar was the same that they had marked for death previously. Any doubt would mark the hunt as a failure. Either way there would be boar for dinner.

While the whole exercise may have seemed silly to an outsider, for the raven and his mistress it was deadly serious. They killed for profit, and misidentifying a target would mean the death of an innocent. So when they left on a hunt, they donned their armour and practised. They were getting good.

It was the boar Auchindoun was searching for when he spotted a kalona crouching behind a rock. Right then he didn't' think much of it. The raven and his mistress were out hunting and it was only too easy to assume that the stranger was doing the same. It was only when he caught sight of a group heading toward the spot that he had the slightest inkling that something was wrong.

He let out a caw, and was answered a moment later by a second caw. His mistress, she was still within hearing range and by the sound of things she wasn't far off. She would be ready to come if needed. For now though, he altered his course to pass near one of the flying figures. One group should be warned. He would have to investigate further to determinate which.

As Daenerys flew, she noticed something glittering out of the corner of her eye. She turned her head to see sunlight glancing off metal, metal that was attached to a bird of some sort. That... was unusual. She slowed herself to get a better look and squinted against the brightness of the sky to look at the feathered form flying against it.

The bird was pure white and looked like some sort of crow or raven. Immediately, she guessed it had to be some sort of familiar. She hadn't seen any white birds of that size in these lands and even if she had, that armor wasn't exactly normal garb.

It could be the kalona's familiar, but even if it was, she didn't think it could do her much harm. "Who goes there?" she called, her voice alerting the herd beneath her to the bird's presence.

It had warmed him when Daenerys had assigned him to be her personal guard. It was a place of honor and great import, an honor he'd be sure to not squander. Although there was likely nothing he had to prove to the queen, there was a part of him that felt he must. What with his departure from the khalasar on her brothers order, he had been gone some time. He wished to prove that he could still be of use to her.

Initially he had protested to the queen's plan of taking to the skies, advising that it was perhaps best to err on the side of caution and have her stay where he could better help her, rather than have her high above him, where he could not reach. Regardless, the plan went ahead. While Daenerys soared above him, the older stallion followed on hoof, keeping good pace with the queen, a watchful gaze both on the skies and the land.

The glimmer of metal caught his attention, eyes narrowing a fraction as his muzzle set into a grim line. ''Khaleesi, is all well?'' He called up to her, voice gruff and eyes shifting from the young mare to the glimmer of metal once more, or rather what appeared to be an armored bird. Friend or foe, he couldn't be sure. Either way it was best to exercise caution.

"Who goes there?" Auchindoun said in return. The group was moving fast, so he would have to get answers faster. Hopefully they wouldn't find his fib outrageous enough to get caught up on it. "And why do you trespass upon my lands? Answer me, then I will answer you."

Another caw came from his left. With the eyes of this stranger upon him though, he didn't want to turn to look nor did he want to return the call. He kept his gaze locked upon the kalona hybrid and the three strange lizard creatures which flew around her.
