If WhiteWind had learned anything from eavesdropping on parties in this game, it was that dungeons held loot.

And bosses.

She was trying not to dwell on that part.

Still, one of the things that she liked about this game was the ability to explore to her hearts content, secure in the knowledge that if she did stray too far, she'd just respawn. So she continued through the halls, past the cell and through the gate made of thorns. Down, down that stairwell, down the hallway lit by ruddy hues, to the door with the voice that called out to her

If nothing else, the game nailed the atmosphere.

She was a guest here? Well, she knew the rules of hospitality. And really, did she want to aggravate a being that referred to itself as Destruction?

"I..." she swallowed nervously. The whole point of her going to school had been to figure out who she really was... and she wasn't making much progress on that front. "My name is Ishild. I come from a long line of proud barioth traders. I'm a student at Amityville. Not a very good student right now." She fidgeted with her cloak. It kind of hurt to admit that, but that was the truth of who she was right now.

"I've mostly been wandering. There's so much to do, you know.?" She then realized she was talking to a being that was sealed. "Or maybe you don't..." She cleared her throat noisily. "Anyways. I found a lake made of memories, and then I got lost in a forest with all these signs that made no sense- what is the point of signs that don't offer reliable directions? Oh, there was also this giant table of food, that was kind of neat..." Her face soured, "although some of it tasted funny. I climbed a mountain of ice cream and stood on a cherry that was bigger than I was, that was fun. And then I wandered here."

"I live in Halloween. I come from the frozen places of the north, but I'm dwelling in the campus dorms right now. Beyond that.... I haven't seen much of the world, though I have an uncle who'd tell me stories of other places he'd been: like the deserts and the towns, the burning chasms and the deeps of the seas. There's a lot different folk living there, though we monsters are the most numerous and the best. We get things done." She might have flexed a bit at this. "I'm glad I'm a Monster, if anything this game has made me miss my tail and my wings.

"... I miss being able to fly," she added forlornly.

Oh, that next question was a tough one. Ishild made a face as she riffled through her memories. "Not... really? I don't think so, no." She opened her mouth at the next question, and made no sound. She thought of her bravado, of the smell of blood and medicine and being turned away from her friend's home. "...I was the one doing the hurting. I didn't mean too!" She protested. "But I did."

"I'm afraid that..." That I'm weak, that I'm a failure, that I will never make up for my mistakes. "That I'm a bad friend."

"I don't know what I'm doing. No, wait. That's not much of a secret." Ishild cupped her chin in her hand and paced as she thought. "...once I raided my father's bag of gems to sell. I just wanted something shiny to show off. I thought I was so clever... Until he came back early and I had to swallow those stones so I wouldn't get caught. He still just thinks they got lost. They tasted awful."

I want to be strong, I want to be confident. All those thoughts flashed through her mind. Instead, she said, "I wish I knew how to be happy with myself again."

The Red Queen spoke again and Ishild shivered. A world without pain or secrets? What kind of world would that be? That thought occupied her mind as she picked a cage at random to exit through.

"Stay," booms a voice, harsh and powerful, thick with uncontrolled rage, "stay, visitor, and listen. I am [ Destruction ] contained. As long as I remain sealed, I will not destroy, and you cannot destroy me. The cage can only be unsealed with the purest of red crystals, infused with Destruction. There will be a time, but not right now. For now, you are a guest. For now, you are invited as a guest. Stay, a little longer guest, and let me ask a little more about you."

TheBoughman jumped at the booming voice, looking in the direction it came from with wide eyes. The voice was harsh and made him uncomfortable – the last thing he wanted to do was come toward the cage where the woman who claimed she was destruction itself was kept. A little full of herself? Oh, yes. But she sounded so angry and he was coming to find that anger was an emotion that set him on edge.

The Leshy took a tentative step toward the cage, not knowing what else to do. There were no other doors and he’d come this far. It was a dream…right?

First, visitor, tell me about yourself. Your real self.

“…My real self. Ah. Well. I am Aurel. I am a Lesovik.” He didn’t really know what else to say. He didn’t…know who he was. All his life he had been in a forest surrounded by trees and plants and animals and very little in the way of developing his own sense of self. He had his thoughts and ideas but, mostly, he was so blank it was painful. The Queen did not look impressed with his answer. “I do not know what else to tell you. I am nobody.”

The honesty seemed to satisfy the queen and, instead of pressing, she moved on.

“Next visitor, I want to hear about your journey.

“I fell down a Jacking rabbit hole, was attacked by a tree, ate weird food, shot bats and put the to sleep and had to fight nature – which was not something I appreciated.” No, TheBoughman was significantly pissed off about that fact, still. It was unlikely he’d get over it. Poor dodo bird.
Explain to me the world you live in. Not this one, the one your real bodies occupy.

“Uh, would you like to try and explain it to me, instead? Because all I know is seasons are the same and people live on fear and are born from fear.” He offered an awkward smile and scratched the back of his head, “And that everyone I have met so far is kind of wonderful.” So far. He knew dicks existed. He had yet to meet one.

Have you ever been hurt by someone you love?
“You…must know what love is, first, right? To be hurt by…” He paused and frowned. “No. Because I do not know what it is. I have not felt it.”

What are you afraid of?

“I have never thought about being afraid. I suppose if I were to be afraid of something it would be…being alone? Do not get me wrong, I love my solitude in the forest but I am afraid of being social. I do not know anything. I am so lost and I do not want to burden anyone with teaching me things I should know. I am afraid that I am…just. Here. And no other purpose.”

Tell me a secret about yourself.”

“I have no secrets to tell.”

What is it that you wish for the most?
“Direction.”

"Soon," the Red Queen finally responds, "It will be soon. I crave [ Destruction ] and should I be favoured then this world will break and crumble and I will build a new one without pain or secrets."

The cages swung open and TheBoughman, now thoroughly depressed by the questions he’d been asked, went to explore.

She walked down the path, wishing she could have dragged Sombra along with her, but rules were rules. It was okay. She was a big girl, and she could handle this all on her own. Besides, she had minifriends. Of course, the gates with their thorns, the quiet and dark hallway, the dungeon. Very unsettling.

The voice didn’t help. Destruction? She’d heard that before.

“Okay,” she replied to the request to stay. She could answer questions.

First, visitor, tell me about yourself. Your real self.

“My real self? I’m… Sherry. I’m human, or I’m mostly human. I’m a Hunter, and I guess that makes me not be quite so human.” The words of the skeleton were ringing in her head for some reason. “I’m in my second decade of life, and I’ve dedicated my life to helping others and trying to protect them. Or I’ve mostly tried to do that. I’m a little selfish, too, and clingy.” She shrugged. “Overall, I’m happy and I try to be a good person who makes other people happy.” Was that what the Queen wanted?

Next visitor, I want to hear about your journey.
“Um,” start at the beginning, right? “I think I went to sleep. Then I became this. I have learned to fight, gotten lost in the woods, found my way out, found treasure, been many different sizes, shot bats, eaten cake and had a nap. It’s all been very eventful.” She was sounding more self-assured. It was easier to talk about things that she had done than about herself in general.

Explain to me the world you live in. Not this one, the one your real bodies occupy.
“The world I’m from is populated by humans. They have cities and countries and love to make money and travel and enjoy life. I come from a very small part of that, from a part that watches over the masses in order to try and protect them.” She thought for a moment. “The world itself is very large and vast, with earth and mountains and oceans. We have day and night, and winter and summer. It’s… really a wondrous place. “ Should she go on? There was really so much she could say…

Have you ever been hurt by someone you love?
“Yes. I have.” It was the honest question. She fidgeted when pressed for more information. “Lots have hurt me, I suppose. Some more than others. My best friend when she ended that relationship…” There were so many stories. But what had hurt the most? “Most recently was when someone I deeply care about decided to forget me, then lie to me in order to use me. He’s my boyfriend.” Saying it like that made it seem silly and mean, made her seem stupid. “The worst hurt was being forgotten, like I’d never existed.” Yet she’d not wanted to let go. Silly Sherry.

What are you afraid of?

“I…” What WAS she afraid of? She thought for a few long moments, and then the words seemed to tumble forth. “I’m afraid… of being useless and weak. Of not being able to help people or letting them down. And I’m afraid that when I die, it won’t have mattered to anyone. I’m afraid of dying alone and useless, for nothing.” She shivered.

Tell me a secret about yourself.
A secret? Was her fear not enough of one? Or how she’d been hurt? Apparently not. “Um. Well,” she thought fast as she could. She had secrets…but her mind had gone nice and blank. What secrets did she have? “Um. I… I sleep better when I’m not alone.” She didn’t think she’d ever told anyone that. That made it a secret, right?

It seemed acceptable.

What is it that you wish for the most?

“I wish,” she paused again. These questions were hard. “I to help make others happy, to make the people I care about happy… Or maybe I’m just selfish and want them to be happy so I can be happy. Yes. I want to be happy.” She knew the definition of happiness was very broad and vague, but she had a feeling emotion played into her answer, too.

She hoped, at least. And she hoped the Queen’s silence didn’t mean the answers had been wrong.

The Queen’s final words sent a shiver down her spine. That wasn’t what Waffleberry wanted at all. “Well. I suppose, I should…move on.” She stepped through a door, intending to explore.

He could hear his steps echoing as he walked the cobbled path. He'd had to untangle his long coat at least once from the thorns to the side. It was impossible not to notice. The land was growing more and more deeply bathed in red. Only the stark darkness of the castle showed anything else. Down he went as he passed the gates. Down the stairs down the only path it offered.

A dungeon.

His feet continued to lead him along as he moved toward the far back, ignoring the rest. He had a goal, she'd be here right? A way out of here? Defeating the queen's was the goal according to Alice.

He grimaced at the thing beyond the bars, ears falling back as it spoke. Destruction. He'd heard many a thing, but he knew that could never end well. Still, even as she spoke of how she could not hurt him, perhaps he sense that he wished it. To destroy them all? Still, a few questions were simple enough. At least until he found a proper way to get rid of this dreadful queen.

"...my name is Molan." It didn't seem enough and he sighed, shaking his head. "I'm a demon. Second Year at the Academy. I have a younger brother, and I'm a bit concerned for him so I'd rather like to be out of here. Thank you." Perhaps his annoyance toward the queen showed a bit in his tone. He wasn't as perfect as his father at hiding it yet. Not by a long shot.

"I've learned that I was right. I did fall asleep. That this journey is merely a means to an end of some being in this game. But if it's what must be done to get out then I will do what I must. I've done worse." He had crossed hims arms at this point, idly shifting form foot to foot as he looked around the room.

"It's a land of fear. Knowing your love for destruction you might like it. We live to scare, we are alive because we scare. But we also have our lives. Be it working in a coffee store, teaching, or being a student. I've found I have friends and people I wish to keep safe. So that it's a world worth keeping safe."

He grimaced at the next question, ears falling back again. "Perhaps. Unintentionally. Father... can be rather strict. And he's harsh with his words. However he means only the best." He didn't want to go into it any further for some stupid game.

"..." He frowned at the question. But the being still stared. "Isolation. Finding myself boxed away from everyone." He didn't want to somehow push them all away.

Really, what a nosy being. "I... perhaps like to really hope that I am wrong. At least when I think about the things I've forgotten. I don't want to think I'd easily just... end up overly attached, but... I also like that thought too? It's something I can't recall having happen before, so I'd like to be wrong. To find out I did have some sort of feeling. But I can't say that out loud, people would expect me to remember then." It wasn't like he remembered anything about her, but... perhaps he wanted her words to be true?

And then something positive? So strange this queen. "I think to make my family proud with my choices. Or perhaps just be satisfied with my own path that I choose." That was it, wasn't it?

And with those words the qeen uttered a few words before vanishing into the castle. Further away. "Well... that wasn't ominous at all." The sarcasm dripped off his tongue.

When fouof entered the Queen's castle, she didn't quite know why but she was expecting ruins. Crumbling walls, fallen turrets, torn and unraveling tapestries. She was a little disappointed in what she found, really, but made her way to the Queen all the same.

From behind the fringes of her blonde bangs, fouof narrowed her eyes. So, this was an interrogation was it? One that she could not refuse, if the sharp plummet of the temperature was any indication. She still refused to speak, bring out her Pocket Card instead to reply.

It asked him to stay, though he was sure there was no choice at all on his part, to leave would be folly, only fuelling the rage barely contained with in. He didn’t want to stay, and he didn’t want to destroy for neither seemed like particularly happy things to do, and happiness, after all, was all he wished for. They did, however, seem necessary as he watched the Red Queen twist behind the gate, form hidden save for small glimpses from between the knotted thorns.

Stay. Tell me about yourself.

“What do you want to know? My real self is much the same really. We both want to be heroes, to be happy. I perhaps more so than him, he wants but he’s afraid to leave things be, he has to do everything, afraid to ignore the unsavory bits in lieu of the rest of the dish. He’s afraid, and that fear grips him until the only thing to give into is obliviousness, ignorance, and to do what we want anyway. But we are generally happy, yes. Would you take that away from us?”

Tell me about your journey.

The Red Queen had no interested, it would seem, in answering questions on her own, ignoring Shiloh’s and pressing on. Shiloh watched it, unsure that he should be divulging so much info with what his supposed greatest enemy.

“I ate lots of cake, all sorts of kinds. Desserts too, and cake pops, but I think the cake was my favourite most of all really. But it’s hard to decide really because the cake that was me was so satisfyingly tasty but you know, cake shared in marriage is sweeter still. Oh, that’s right! I got married!”

He showed her his hand, the gold band glinting on his finger.

Tell me about your world.

His world? Wasn’t this his world? No, he remembered, it was only a dream or something of the sort. Eventually he’d wake up and this dream would end, Wonderland would be gone and everything would be back to normal again, as normal as normal could be.

“My world, huh? Well, I guess because I’m not so sure that this is that anymore, Earth, my world, it’s vast and made up of millions of different people and animals and even things that shouldn’t exist. Somehow it’s not nearly as strange as Wonderland though, the trees don’t talk and cats generally don’t vanish into thin air.”

Tell me who has hurt you.

“I don’t want to talk about that.

Why not?

“It’s not important, it doesn’t matter. You shouldn’t dwell on those things.”

It scares you. What else are you afraid of?

“Lots of things, the dark, big scary monsters, losing people I love. Is that enough?”

Very well, tell me a secret then.

Shiloh scratched his head; did he even have any secrets? He wasn’t one to really keep them, much preferring openness and honesty. But every person had secrets, it was just the way it was, even him. They crept in without noticing, unnoticed until he really took the time to think.

He leant forward, as close to the gate as he dared, and whispered something.

After all, it was a secret.

What is it you wish for the most?

“Happiness. It’s everything.”

McCowboy felt like a new man after his trip to the Lost Temple, and returned to the rest of the Wonderland world feeling reinvigorated. He followed a long path out of the Mad Tea Party region and continued on with curiosity until he reached a set of gates made of thorns and staircase descending down into a dungeon. His curiosity and his ego – even further enhanced by his recent upgrade - got the best of him as he ventured down the hallway to a door at the far end.

“First, visitor, tell me about yourself. Your real self.”

“My real self?” he cocked a brow and grinned. “What’s there to say? I’m Wyatt freakin’ McCoy, King Stud of Southern Love, b***h.”

The room suddenly began to feel drafty and the lights dimmed as if something was creeping in on him. Apparently, whatever force was asking the questions was not amused by his answer.

“Okay, okay, okay,” he stammered. “Name’s Wyatt McCoy. Let’s see here, my life story. Uh, well, I was born n’ raised in Lillian, Texas, a little shithole of a town outside of Dallas.” He wondered if the names of these places even meant a thing to the voice. Did he answer her question enough?

He remembered something that Phoenix had told him. “Oh, and I’m a civilian, if that means something to you. But I apparently have potential to be somethin’ more?”

He paused, finished with his answer for now, and waited for her to speak.

”Next visitor, I want to hear about your journey.”

“My journey? Like, since I got here?” he questioned back. “Uhm, well I woke up in those rainbow colored woods which seemed like a whole lot of fun at first, but then just became straight-up weird with talking trees, cats and lakes, a bunch a clones, weird mushrooms, a giant ********’ monster and these really messed up signs. Not to mention the damn snakes. Oh, and then things started getting really ******** up and like, I don’t know, glitchy or some s**t.”

He scratched his head as he tried to recount the endless list of crazy s**t that went down in his time here.

“I got a drink at a bar which was cool,” he started. “Although the bartender was a walrus, so that was, uh…something. Then I was at this tea party with these messed up magical desserts, had to fight a bunch of bats and find myself through some kind of maze.”

“But it all kind of paid off,” he started. “The whole thing was worth it when I got to this ******** beautiful temple place. s**t, that was incredible. Like, I never felt so powerful and in control of my life…it was awesome.”

“…And then I found myself here, talking to you. Whoever or whatever you are.”

“Explain to me the world you live in. Not this one, the one your real bodies occupy.”

“The real world? What’s it like?” A profound question, he supposed. “It sucks, man.”

“You’re on your own, got no one there really lookin’ out for ya, even when you need someone,” he shrugged. “It ain’t easy, but I get by.”

“Have you ever been hurt by someone you love?”

“Hell yea.”

“How? When?”

“Well, that shithole I mentioned earlier? Lillian, Texas?” he started. “Back when I was living there, my dad found out that I’m a big ol’ homo, caught me right in the act with me and my boyfriend, so he beat me around a little before kicking me out. That was when I was seventeen so about seven years ago. I guess ya can say that I don’t love him now, but hell, I did at the time. Not easy getting hit around and tossed out by someone you love and want to love you back, you know?”

“What are you afraid of?”

“Babies,” he answered quickly. “I don’t know, but babies scare the goddamn s**t outta me. I mean, sure they’re kind of cute and all, but they just like sit there and ******** up everything. It’s like they just scream ‘Pay attention to me! Stop having fun! Be responsible! Waaaaahhhhhh!’”

When he was mimicking baby noises and crying he knew it was time to stop speaking.

“Other than that, not sure,” he continued. “I guess ya can say that I’m afraid of commitment if you want to get all deep and s**t. And I don’t know if its fear or nothing, but I get freaked out anytime I think that I might somehow cross paths with my dad or some other people I’ve left behind.”

Was this supposed to be some kind of therapy? One sided conversations were making the boy spill out his guts.

“Tell me a secret about yourself.”

“Jesus Christ, what the hell more do you want to know?” he laughed. “Sometimes at night, I don’t touch myself. Is that a good enough of a secret for ya?”

“What is it that you wish for most?”

“A s**t-ton of money, like, infinite amounts,” he answered quickly. “With that in my bank, I can figure out anything else I want later. I’m pretty damn sure that whole money don’t buy you happiness saying is ********’ bullshit.”

"Soon," the Red Queen finally responds, "It will be soon. I crave [ Destruction ] and should I be favoured then this world will break and crumble and I will build a new one without pain or secrets."

The voice disappears and several of the cages swing open, each one leading to a different area.

McCowboy looked at the various areas opened around him. That was…ominous. He swallowed hard and took a step forward, approaching one of the areas.

He walks through the castle. It's empty and his dislikes how his footsteps echo. The place is huge, but he walks like there's only one path to choose. Maybe there is. He arrives at a gate of thorns. Whatever is imprisoned behind them calls itself Destruction. Somehow it reminds him of Azrael (who is torn between puffing up or pooh-poohing the comparison).

It calls him a guest and speaks of opening the cage with crystals of destruction. Dreadpirate isn't sure he likes the sound of that. It's the quest, though, so he doesn't have much choice.

"First, visitor, tell me about yourself. Your real self."

It isn't hard to answer. "I'm a soldier. A Hunter. I kill the things that go bump in the night so they can't attack humans." Left unsaid is the fact that he suspects she may be something that bumps in the night - if she exists outside of the dream-game.

The room gets a little colder. Maybe she wants more. This entire realm does seem designed to draw out his memories and life story. But he thinks there's been enough of that already. He waits to see if she asks anything else.

"Next, I want to hear about your journey."

Does she mean Wonderland? "It's a strange place you've got here. I've gotten lost on forests of talking trees multiple times. I've fought flowers and candy and birds and all sorts of strange creatures. I've traded riddles with cats. I've tranquilised bats. I've been married, of all things, to a woman I only met here. There was a door that led to a forest where everything was ... experiencing errors. Skips and static and glitches - if you know what those are, you might not have them in your world. I've run for a Jabberwocky, I've had memories pulled from my head like someone's reached in, plucked them out and set them to play on a plasma tv. It's been pretty crazy."

Crazy. That summed it up well.

"Explain to me the world you live in. Not this one, the one your real bodies occupy."

Dreadpirate pauses. "That might take years. Um. I suppose the biggest difference is that there's logic there. Things make sense. Animals and plants don't talk. Roads and paths stay where they are and always lead to the same place. We have less forest or woods and more cities - huge towns, I guess. Most people don't have to fight on a daily basis. Most don't even realise that monsters are real."

"Have you ever been hurt by someone you love?"

He's about to mention his ex when he pauses. Maybe he's heeding Azrael's constant irritation at the topic or maybe he's evaluating the end of their relationship more clearly.

"My dad died when I was a kid," he says instead. He doesn't know why he's telling her this. It's private. "Mum didn't take it well. She just fell apart. Me and Sarah had to take care of each other. I guess maybe I blame him for leaving. And then she left, too, in a different way. She should have been looking after us. She was the adult, not Sarah."

He wasn't sure what that had done to his and Sarah's relationship. For a long while they'd been close, but then once he was an adult, she'd still been trying to be a mother and it forced them further apart than normal siblings should have been. Maybe he blamed his parents for that, too.

"What are you afraid of?"

Monsters. Being useless. Failing. All the things he should have said. Would have said, two years ago. But he's been alone, but not alone, for two years now. He's been staring into the abyss that shares his mind, and Azrael has stared back. He's no longer sure which of them were changed the most by it - his recent nightmares are proof of that.

"Me," he eventually says.

For once, the Red Queen doesn't press for further answer. "Tell me a secret about yourself."

"That doesn't count?" he asks. Of course not, or she wouldn't have asked. "I need people more than I let on. I'm lonelier than I'll tell anyone. I put on a strong face, but... I need my allies - see, can't even call them friends - more than they need me."

"What is it that you wish for the most?"

"The monsters defeated, wiped out," is the instant answer. It's the party line, the expected response form the good soldier. It also happens to be the truth. He wants them wiped out. Once they're gone, then there's no chance of finding out any of them are more like Azrael (kind of decent company) than the bloodthirsty monsters preying on humans he believes them to be.

"Soon," the Red Queen says. Several cage doors open. Dreadpirate enters one, just wanting to get away from her.

It was a wonder he made it to the castle at all. ShadowLord15 had spent the entire game putzing around, just like he did in the real world. He was a drifter, one who observed and then acted. He just hadn't gotten around to the acting part.

A terrifying voice stopped him in his tracks, and he looked around wildly for the voice. It seemed to come from everywhere at once, until he narrowed it down to a single entity locked behind bars. That somehow made it less intimidating.

First, visitor, tell me about yourself. Your real self.

Shadow hesitated, but couldn't come up with a reason to hide anything. He still kept it short and concise. "My name is Lock, and I have a cat, Voodoo. That is all you should request of one upon meeting."

The queen seemed finicky and displeased, but continued.

Next visitor, I want to hear about your journey.

Lock shrugged, but the queen egged him on. "I don't know. There's been a lot of doors and food. All weird if you ask me." He was very noncomittal in his gestures. "How's your journey been?"

The queen elected not to tell.

Explain to me the world you live in. Not this one, the one your real bodies occupy.

"Darker."

Have you ever been hurt by someone you love?

"Not really ..." Why not? "I don't really cause a lot of trouble. I still to the shadows- I'm sorry that was terrible ..." He definitely didn't want to be known as the pun guy.

What are you afraid of?

"The light." And Voodoo. But he didn't admit that part.

Tell me a secret about yourself.

To this question, Shadow pursed his lips in displeasure. He didn't like revealing things about himself to those he was close to, let alone to strangers. He gave an awkward shrug and turned to leave, but a shadowy barrier blocked his path. So that was how it was going to be? "I ... I wish Voodoo had been a different creature." He nearly heard the pained yowls in his mind. "But I also ... do not despise her."

The last phrase lacked the confidence it should have, but the queen deemed it acceptable and gave him a final question.

What is it that you wish for the most?

This one was easy. "To protect those I am closest to. And to sort out my problems quickly."

The queen's cage's swung open on rusty, squeaky hinges, and the paths were revealed to him. He nodded, and continued on as he had before, wondering why she asked such strange questions.

...Well, this was certainly sinister.

It was a stark contrast to the previous areas of the game except, he supposed, the glitch area. But this was much more unnerving considering that it was originally standing like this, instead of being corrupted by glitches of this dreamworld. In all honestly, Hades was still rather confused by this all, but he continued walking anyway.

Perhaps they were nearing the end. Perhaps they would know the truth behind this all soon, and what the Alice AI had hinted towards.

Someone was trapped here, he realized, as he moved forward curiously and cautiously towards the voice. Someone whose voice was as loud as thunder and dark as storm clouds.

And all she wanted was for him to answer some questions.

"My real name is Erebus." He said, swallowing back a lump in his throat. "And I am a Cerberus demon." Why was this information even relevant in this world?

Next visitor, I want to hear about your journey.

"I've been exploring this world, I guess. I formed a guild with a few others, and I also ran into... a glitched part of this world? It was very strange." He still wondered if the glitch would spread further.

Explain to me the world you live in. Not this one, the one your real bodies occupy.

"About Halloween?" He asked, scratching the back of his head. "Um well, I come from a particularly hot part of Halloween, what would be called the Underworld, I guess. Helldogs and all, after all. There are demons, reapers, monsters, ghosts, all sorts of creatures in our world." Of course, there was a small puff of pride when he mentioned his own faction.

Have you ever been hurt by someone you love?

He found himself hesitating. "N-no?" It wasn't the truth, and yet it wasn't a lie as well. Things that had happened to those he loved had certainly hurt him, but... "It was all my fault really." Because he hadn't the strength to protect them and be there when he was needed.

What are you afraid of?

These questions were certainly starting to make him feel uncomfortable. Hades felt himself grow utterly silent but the room also seemed to grow colder all around him, as if the voice was getting impatient. "That I'm not good enough for the family name."

Tell me a secret about yourself.

"I... I don't know." He faltered. He hadn't told anyone that he felt inferior of course, and he had always seemed so proud of his distinguished ancestors. "I guess that I always felt like I was never as good as my brothers."

She did not press on, but asked him one last question.

What is it that you wish for the most?

"To bring honor to my family." He said quietly. It was all he ever wanted, after all.

He had no idea what to think of the Queen, and instead, found himself trudging onwards.

There was a Red Queen in the Wonderland stories, he knew that, he had seen the movies and like so many details that recollected in his mind, it was unsurprising to find himself finally at the castle walls. Sight of the queen might have been his next guess but what the path he took was not expected, nor where it lead him to.

His one visible eye glanced about the dungeon, the walls so dark and the bars made thick to hold whatever it was that needed to be kept there. (The look of the place reminded him of Naruto, he wondered if Taichou would be proud of him using that as a reference in his mind). He almost headed towards the door on the far wall until he was stopped in his tracks by a booming voice.

Yeah, totally like Naruto, complete with ominous glowing red thing behind the bars. The name it bore, Destruction, was also not helping and he couldn't help but let out a curt little laugh. "So, you wanna know about me, ya?" Well, he thought. Sure. Ready to sit down and make it official just in case he was in for the long haul. But when he thought about it, sitting didn't give much breathing room for poses if needed, so he stood there with his feet spread apart and his arms crossed. Ready.

First, visitor, tell me about yourself. Your real self.

"About me, ya? Alright Red, name's Milo Hale," he introduced himself, complete with fancy spin. "Sun Hunter from Deus Ex Machina, formally from Hilo, Hawai'i and self-proclaimed expert of nearly everything Tokusatsu." Not a lot of people could refute that on the island, huhu. "Nineteen, close to Twenty actually," Oh hey, huh he realized with a hum, "like to run, like to train and keep myself up in shape, favorite series is DekaRanger... what else, Red?" His arms returned to being crossed as he awaited the next question. Best not to spill everything too soon.

Next visitor, I want to hear about your journey.

Green raised a hand to rub at the side of his neck for a moment to collect his thoughts. "Aa, dude," dudette? "So, the beginning I guess is pretty common for this place, ya? Went down a rabbit hole 'cause Wonderland and ended up in the woods. Had to talk to trees, some of them are a little... eeeh," he spun his hand near his temple to explain that one. "Though, probably normal for here, ya? Anyway so, trees and then there were a couple other weird places in the forest like having to do riddles with a Cheshire Cat and there was a sort of maze with signs pointing in every direction. But yeah, forest stuff and we were sort of chased out a bit by the Jabberwock." He paused and made a face, "thing ate me like five times. I think that's a thing 'cause everywhere I go things keep eating me," anyway. (It should also be pointed out, there were and were going to be many hand wild hand motions throughout this entire thing here on out).

"But anyways, so we get out of the forest and the last place we seemed to go to was a tea party, like not just in one place but everywhere. Tea cups everywhere, didn't know some of them could get that big, brah. Even got married in one, which is really weird for me. Not just the in the teacup thing but like, I'm not lookin' for romance or anything but I figured hey, its a game so why not, ya? Plus it had a fun little novelty ability. But yeah, teacups. And there were a few other places. Like did you know about the glitchy world through the door? That supposed to be there?" He paused for an answer. None came so he went on. "And yeah, tried out the battling system too, fought some one on one and did a bunch of the dungeons, pretty awesome."

Explain to me the world you live in. Not this one, the one your real bodies occupy.

"Which one?" Was his first thought, 'cause in all technicalities there were two of them. What used to be and what now was. "I went from one island to another, brah. So, I guess not too much of a change. But the first place was just paradise," he sighed, a little longingly, "not that Deus is that bad but brah, there are monsters and s**t there, so a little more dangerous. Both places are pretty sweet, the only thing I really miss is the internet, I'm really behind on my shows, man and its painful." Another sigh. "Huh, what else. It's hard to explain, I guess.. 'cause its just big with a lot of stuff, ya know? Like this place has a lot of stuff, just different stuff. And people in it. Yeah."

Have you ever been hurt by someone you love?

"Hasn't everyone?" It gained a little laugh as he looked down at the floor, toeing the cement with his boot, "kind of human nature to hurt others even if ya don't mean it. Been hurt by friends, family, people I don't really know. Probably did it to others without knowing. Sucks, but ya gotta move on and get past it." His tone wasn't as happy throughout the exchange, having to talk about something serious in nature and all.

What are you afraid of?

Green didn't answer at first, wondering how to honestly reply to it. "Aa, dude, there's like a long list, haha." He laughed a little, switching up his stance to something a little more relaxed. "Guess like, a big one would be being really afraid, you know?" He'd have to admit to things probably, "and ending up like some of the other Hunters, man they are grumpy." Admittedly, he knew he couldn't keep up in his happy go lucky little world, but he didn't ever want to end up like that.

Tell me a secret about yourself.

And this was when he shifted a little uncomfortably, there were some embarrassing ones in his head, some big ones that he didn't even want to admit out loud to anyone ever. Some mundane which he didn't know would suffice an answer, if they were really being judged. "So, how about this one. I haven't actually watched every single season of Power Rangers and Super Sentai, I know.. its bad when I said I was like the go to guy for that stuff but some of that stuff is old and hard to find, brah. And some of the English ones were just bad." No way was he going deep and sentimental with this, he was going to stick with the jokes. Even if they were the truth; because he hadn't watched them all for those reasons alone. It might not be his deepest and darkest secret, something that could easily be found out but it was still something that no one knew (or probably cared about).

What is it that you wish for the most?

"Besides finding it all?" He grinned, rocking back on his heels as he continued to jest. Green let out a big sigh, "the obvious answer is still always to become a hero like a Power Ranger but I'm like so close to that now, its crazy." He had to smile about that, "but, I guess I just wanna keep on doing it, become awesome and be myself the whole time." Zyupink had said it best at one point, to have a smile on her face the whole time and he did want that.

"Anythin' else?" The Gryphon peered curiously at the bars, waiting for the next possible question. But a question never came, simply a statement. Foreboding one at that, but a conclusion to their conversation and a means to an exit. So, with a little two finger salute to where the imprisoned creature had been, Green made his way to the door.

"Jaaaa ~"

First, visitor, tell me about yourself. Your real self.

Wiz frowned before lowering her head in thought. Here we go again with these thought provoking questions! Whats with this game any way? Sighing, the caterpillar looked back up before promptly answering:

"My name is Anasia Thalmir. I am a Jotunn, erm....Frost giant in common language. I currently live in a frostier part of Halloween that's always cold and snowy with no warmth in sight. There's nothing to do except cook, clean, pillage, eat, use the bathroom, shower, and explore the same frozen tundra every day of the year. There's not much life, but its something...Ummmn....This isn't my full height. I'm actually around...two stories tall, making me the shortest in my family thus far.

There isnt much else besides the fact that I like to collect things and put them into jars. I also talk to them occasionally becauseIhavenofriends, but that's beside the point here..."

The Queen remains silent for a minute or two before continuing on, much to Wiz's confusion.

Next visitor, I want to hear about your journey.

Wiz shuddered before taking another deep breath. Her journey was a long and strange one...She didn't want to tell the queen everything so she decided to just sum it up in a couple of sentences.

"It was.....Strange, frustrating, and very fun for the most part. What I really hated was talking to that stupid cheshire cat in the beginning of the game as well as walking through that stupid forest! The mad hatter tea party was the easiest part, except I didn't get to do one or two quests because I fell asleep? i don't know... Anyways, after all that mad hatter stuff, I made my way over to your castle! I still don't know what to think of it....I could use some brighter confetti or somethin--"

Wiz instantly noticed the room was getting colder and she quickly shut her mouth with a small gulp. Sometimes, people don't want to hear about ways they could spruce up their dungeon....

It warmed up a bit before the queen asked her next question:

Explain to me the world you live in. Not this one, the one your real bodies occupy.

"Uhhh I already told you most of it, but we have these creatures called mini's that we like to capture and keep for our own. Its a ncie feature of our little world. I'm sure the stupid things in Midguard don't have something like that!"

For some odd reason, she got the feeling that the queen didn't want to hear that answer, but Wiz shrugged. She didn't care much really.

Have you ever been hurt by someone you love?

Well that was a rather invasive question....She really didn't want to answer it, but she simply nodded.

"I have yes....Why are you asking these questions?

The queen ignored her, asking her how and when, which was in her opinion, another invasive a** question.

"Ive been hurt by my father when I was younger. Hes constantly told me I wasn't good enough, that I'm annoying, alien. He thinks I'm not....Jotunn and tells me this everyday. I'm never good enough no matter what I do."

What are you afraid of?

Whats with this woman and the invasive questions?!

"I'm afraid that....I'll never good enough for anyone. That I'll always be alone because I'm different from the rest. Ill never fall in love, Ill never make friends, Ill never get the chance to experience what its like to be wanted....Ill never know what the love of friends and a boilfriend is...."

She would NOT cry in front of this stupid thing....She cant allow herself to no matter what. Wiz looked away from the queen before waiting her next question, wanting to leave her presence as soon as she could.

She was starting to get tired of this place.

Tell me a secret about yourself.

Well this one was easy, it didn't have to be a deep dark secret, so she grinned before answering:

"I love fluffy things......"

It was a short answer, but she didn't care at this point. The Queen did however and the room grew a bit colder as she asked her final question.

What is it that you wish for the most?

Well that was an easy question to answer as well. Why didn't she do this for the previous questions? Dumb program with its invasive questions, trying to make her cry and junk...How rude!

"I wish for happiness...

"Soon," the Red Queen finally responds, "It will be soon. I crave [ Destruction ] and should I be favored then this world will break and crumble and I will build a new one without pain or secrets."

Well, that was a very...Scary scentence. Lets hope this queen doesn't escape anytime soon...

The voice disappears and several of the cages swing open, each one leading to a different area.

Wiz jumped and took that as her que to exit, picking a random cage to go into.

The feel of the place made her uncomfortable the second she set foot in it. Dark and menacing, thorns twisted throughout the landscape, around and into the castle; red light made the interior look as if it was awash with fresh blood. It felt like a giant hand was pushing her forwards, against her will; only when she got closer could she hear the voice, soft hissing, drawing her close. She stopped before the bars of the cage, frozen in terror, and the thing spoke.

First, visitor, tell me about yourself. Your real self.
The white rabbit's eyes narrowed. Was this really.. part of a game? She hesitated, before deciding perhaps telling the truth would be for the best.

"Reine. My name is Reine Walker. I was once known as Roberta.. many many years ago."

Next visitor, I want to hear about your journey.
"You know what happened," Reine frowned. "As far as I know everyone ended up here the same way; down the rabbit hole. And then, I guess- things happened. I met people. Made friends. It's a strange world you live in, you know? Has a sort of charm to it, but.. I miss home."

The creature seemed to perk up a little.

Explain to me the world you live in. Not this one, the one your real bodies occupy.
Was this really.. really a game? Reine found herself questioning that- what sort of game developer would.. well, break the fourth wall, so to say? Was that even a thing?

"Well it's.." Perhaps, either way, she should indulge the Red Queen; with every passing moment of silence, Reine could feel its impatience cloying the air, making it hard to breathe.

"It's just, a normal world. Not so much of 'magic' like you have here. Teapots don't talk. Cookies don't try to kill you. I used to.. I guess I never really was a normal human. I could see things- monsters, real ones--" She stopped herself hastily, having been about to say, 'like you'.

"So I moved to an island, where there were people like me."

Have you ever been hurt by someone you love?
She laughed, wryly. "Loved." The bruises had long faded, the scars had healed over, but some things you could never forget.

What are you afraid of?
Her expression steeled before the Red Queen had even finished asking the question, immediately repressing any thoughts she had to do with fears. Too soon, Executus; the memory of her job class upgrade was still fresh in her mind.

Eventually, reluctantly, she spat out a word. "Failure." The white rabbit looked away, biting her lip. "Letting my friends down again. Not being able to save them."

There was a moment's silence, as if the Red Queen was benevolent enough to let her compose herself again, before it continued.

Tell me a secret about yourself.
"I don't think I'll ever be as strong as I want to be." The words came out before she could even stop them, and once again, she bit her lip, reluctant to say more, feeling angrier and angrier by the moment; how dare this creature question her, how dare it make her reveal things she would never say to anyone or anything else?

What is it that you wish for the most?
Her thoughts clouded by anger, Reine couldn't think of any answer to give.

"Freedom," she lied, saying the first word that came to mind. "To do anything I want."

Whether it detected the lie or not, the Red Queen let her pass; and as she walked on, the further she moved away, the lighter her heart felt. Maybe that had been therapeutic, in its own way.

There was only one path leaving the Mad Tea Party zone, so B.B followed the path and arrived at a castle. The gates of it was made of thorns and there was only one way to go - downstairs. The rabbit girl discovered it was a dungeon, the prison doors were sealed and the corridor was lit by red torch lights. On her way, she heard a voice calling but she couldn't get it well, so she continued until she reached the end.

At the end, she was stopped rather abruptly by a voice, only a voice called themselves DESTRUCTION. It said she was a guest and asked several questions. Her first question was "First, visitor, tell me about yourself. Your real self." The rabbit girl smiled because she was the visitor, so if the host asked something, she should politely answer that. "As you can see, I am a tiny girl. I born in an Asian family and was the youngest daughter. I have two sisters that loves me a lot." She paused and smiled sweetly. "Um - I am a bunny here but actually I'm a human." She paused again while thinking what to say further. " -I joined the hunter quite for a short time", she raised two fingers on each hand and resembled the quotation marks. "I still have a lot to learn as a newbie there, but I have been working hard. I like things that normal girls like, desserts, cute clothes and plushies. I do admit I'm easily attracted by good looking people especially those wear glasses. I guess that's enough?" She didn't mention any about her father or mother because that was not necessary.

Her question was responded with another question. "Next visitor, I want to hear about your journey. " The rabbit girl tilted her head. "Where should I started? .....I started as a white rabbit, then by wandered around the Tulgey Woods, I strengthened up myself by finishing some quests. Then, with the new friends I made, I carried out some training by fighting plant monsters and exploring some dungeons. The Jabberwock was rather scary, but I managed to escape. Later, I found a way to the Mad Tea Party zone, where difficult quests and harder monsters were waiting for me. To be honest, without others' help, I won't be able to finish the dungeon located there. Soon, I was qualified to promote and became a white rabbit herald. I got better skills and stronger weapon, which assisted my adventure forward. That zone was like a paradise, but I want to explore more so I left it and ended up here." She smiled again, waiting for the voice.

"Explain to me the world you live in. Not this one, the one your real bodies occupy." She startled a bit at the question, so they knew they were sleeping? Remained silence for a while, B.B frowned and again thinking where to begin with. "As I mentioned before, I am a human, so I live in the human world. It is a big sphere made of land and ocean, it is divided into five main continents and seven main oceans which populated with different colored skin races.........the continent I am living is Asia, where I live was just a small part of it......I live in the cities but there are also beautiful natural scenery on the countrysides...." The girl planned to briefly introduce her world but got a bit too far.

"Have you ever been hurt by someone you love?" Her long speech was stopped. "Er-yes.....I have." The girl lowered her head, with a sad tone and little voice. "How and when?" She wasn't happy about that and asked if it was really necessary. There was a moment of silence but she suddenly felt cold and started shivering. "Ok....My mama and papa. They always hurt me, always....." The rabbit girl was wearing a sad smile on her face. "My papa said I am ominous and blamed me for all the bad things happened....My mama...she's nice, but too obedient. She was a traditional Asian woman and she obeyed her husband. So every time I got beaten, she only asked me to endure.....both of them....hurt me....one doesn't care at all...one....doesn't know she did."

Her silence was broken by the next question. "What are you afraid of?" B.B scratched her head and held herself with both hands. "I am afraid of darkness and-and blood." She held herself tighter. "Among all, I am afraid of not able to protect the one I love." She put her arms down, hands held into fists.

She wished this was the end, but it wasn't. "Tell me a secret about yourself." She hesitated, secret was a secret because no one knew.....but it won't be a bad idea to share it with someone. It was hard to just hide the secret by yourself. "I have a weird habit of hugging random person, it was a sequela after my sisters died." She swallowed, felt it had not to cry.

Then, the voice asked the last question. "What is it that you wish for the most?" She smiled. "That's simple." She closed her eyes for a few seconds before opening them. "I wish I have more power, so that I can protect myself and the one I love." Her expression was serious and determined.

Quote:
"Soon," the Red Queen finally responds, "It will be soon. I crave [ Destruction ] and should I be favoured then this world will break and crumble and I will build a new one without pain or secrets."

After the voice - Red Queen said of her soon release, several cages opened and she knew -

It's time to explore.

The voice booming around was enough to make her halt in her tracks. Game or not, this? This was scary. Such power and rage in one voice couldn't be good, and Ra.One...was ready to talk. If that's what they wanted she could give them that, and hopefully the rest would all just smooth over.

"I am a dancer, a performer," she stated boldly, and then slightly wilted. "But I don't really have an audience. Someday i will. But for now I just study and work hard to try to appease others." That seemed to be enough, she preferred to move on rather than talk about herself.

Her journey was easier. She spoke about the trees and the battles she had faced, the tea party and the need to care for, and marry, a man she didn't really know. It was slightly confusing stuff, but she finished and awaited the next question easily enough.

"India," she said, smiling to herself. Then she launched into her explanation, speaking of the spices, her family, everything she could think of. The Red Queen would have to cut her short when she came to films, because otherwise she would talk for hours and hours and hours and hours and hours.

"Perhaps," Ra.One answered. "I was upset with how much better my parents treat my brother, but it is not a major injury. I have yet to experience love other than family or idols."

"I am afraid of being stuck. I do not want to have the same job day after day, or to not have a job befitting me. I am afraid my dreams will never be realized."

A secret? This she had to think on. There were no major secrets that she had, not yet. "Once I kissed a poster of Shahrukh Khan when no one else was home." Talk about an embarrassing secret to divulge.

"I wish I could be a superstar. I would give anything to be a famous actress, to have my own dancing scenes. I want to be the name in Bollywood that everyone knows, and have people from all over the world coming to see my films at the cinema."

And with that she was excused.
