With the sudden turn of conversation, her ears pinned down and she pressed her lips with irritation. "I used ta have one. Now I don't. ..I needed it for my brother.. an' now he's gone, too." She clenched her hands into fists to keep her chin from trembling and to keep the water from her eyes. He was okay somewhere. He had to be!
Looking over to Briar, she couldn't help a curious twitch of her fluffy tail. HM's? TM's? "What're those? Do they sell good?"

"Oh no! I'm sorry he died!" well that's how she interpreted "lost". Not that the other girl had literally lost her brother.
"They can teach you moves..which is super helpful and they might, I don't know honestly. I haven't been into the city to try selling them, but we have a bunch no one needs if you want to take them and see if you can sell them?" why not? They were sort of in the way right now.

Briar's innocently sympathetic exclamation had Truffles look over at her in absolute horror and pain. Aatami was dead?! How did Briar know?! An image of her brother's crumpled body flew through her head, and she shook it away hard enough for her hat to fly off and land on the ground next to her. "He's not dead!" she screamed angrily. "He's just missin'! He's not dead! He's not!" He couldn't be! He can't be!
Cheeks flushed brightly, she spun to face away from the other girl, brushing the dampness from her eyes. Darn it, she couldn't fall apart in front of this stranger. This.. Briar. How weak was that? Briar didn't know. She couldn't know! "He's just missin'," she said again, in a much quieter tone though, looking straight into the woods. She'd been doing so well, too...
Briar had been about to give her something to sell. She couldn't remember what they'd been talking about.

Briar's eyes went wide at the others girls reaction a hand raising to her mouth in horror. Oh man she'd misunderstood the others meaning and assumed the worst...
and seriously upset Truffles. That was not a good thing at all! "I'm sorry! I thought you meant...oh gosh I really misunderstood I'm sorry!"
Oh was she ever sorry! "Let me go get that bag...."
She ran off again, more than a little thankful for the moment away from the other. She felt utterly horrible for assuming the others brother was dead!
The bag was a lot lighter than when she had originally found it, several HMs and TMs pulled from it for the use of everyone there in the cabin. There was still plenty they wouldn't, or couldn't use however and the bag was in the way. So she snatched it and was back out the door, going slowly because she couldn't bear to face the Eevee girl.
"Here...hopefully they sell decently for you..." her voice was certainly more subdued than before.

She heard Briar's hurried apologies, but she couldn't respond. A wave of relief actually went through her. Briar had only assumed. The girl hadn't actually seen Aatami dead... She could still go on believing...
With the quiet in the woods now, she took a few deep breaths. Slowly, she bent to scoop her hat back up and replace it on top of her head. That.. had been scary.
By the time Briar returned, Truffles had cleared her eyes and calmed back down. Now she could focus on what Briar was offering. Acting as though she hadn't flipped out a minute ago, she accepted the bag and pulled it open to inspect what it held. So those were HMs and TMs. "Thanks," she said, closing it back up and hooking it over her shoulder to carry.
She looked over to Briar, and gave her a tiny smile. "Guess I should go and get sellin'." Her lips pressed slightly though. Aatami had rubbed off on her too much... "Sorry for yellin' at you. ..You didn't know." Blush creeping up again, her gaze slid off to the side. Apologizing... Ugh.

Briar gave the other girl a timid sort of smile, afraid of saying something to upset her again, but the apology that eased her concerns marginally.
"Its okay you had a good reason for getting to upset. I really hope you find your brother sometime soon. What's his name? That way if for some reason I see him, I know it's him." it was a good thing to know she reasoned!
"Good luck Truffles." she gave the other girl a warm smile as she gave her a wave. She'd done what she could by giving the bag of items, and the dress. She just wished she could have done more.

Truffles hesitated a moment, chewing on her lip. Maybe... "His name is Aatami," she said softly. 'Aatami.. Can someone else find you better than me?'
Tail twitching, she managed a slightly more open smile. "Good luck," she replied, turning and scurrying back the way she had come. Now she just had to figure out how to sell things...
