Vremea nearly fell over from exhaustion... She tried for one last hit. Just one more... and instead, fell over, so exhausted, she just wanted to sleep...
Not... yet.
She managed to pull herself and the others into a cave nearby, able to escape-- for now. The lusus stayed outside though, just watching the entrance. She shuddered. Tomorrow... She'd do it tomorrow. Right now... Vremea panted, leaning over and falling asleep, limp at their fingertips.

Everyone in your group is well rested. Your group recovers three stamina, to a maximum of five! Your group recovers 13 hp, if you were previously at zero!
A floppy bouncebeast is no stranger to the desert, and when one bounces into your group’s path you’re suddenly struck with an idea. The lusus has been running wild for a while now… It could probably use a snack. Your group has captured a live bouncebeast! If the next 2D4 roll result is not to fight the lusus, the group can decide to use the bouncebeast to attract it to their location instead. Your roll will be treated as though it was originally a lusus encounter. The live bouncebeast can only be used once, and the group can only carry one live bouncebeast with them at a time.

A sudden cold snap whisks through the desert. There’s a n** in our nose, a chill in your bones and your cheeks are just a little more vibrant in hue. Fortunately, it doesn’t seem to be much more than a quick blast of frigid air. This weather effect will remain in play until the next dice are rolled.
Something glinting over a bluff catches your eye. A burrow in the side of the dune yields a bounty of shining golden beetles! And as they say, lucky beetles mean good fortune (and megabux$$$). Each member of the group has acquired 1 lucky beetle that can be redeemed at the end of the meta for a variety of rewards. You cannot carry any more than 5 lucky beetles total; if you run into this encounter more than 5 times, you cannot collect any more.

Uh oh. The ground rumbles suddenly. Not again! Sure enough, after a moment the rough shaking of the ground resumes with surprising force. It’s an earthquake! This weather effect will remain in play until a 2, 3, 4, or 5 are rolled on a D6.
An overenthusiastic bouncebeast hops into view. You don’t pay it any mind at first, but when it starts to get closer—and closer—you realize that spring is in the air. The lovestruck beast assaults your group! The bouncebeast has 1 HP, but has a +1 to avoid being hit (you will need to roll a 4 or above to hit). Every post in which the lovestruck bouncebeast has not been defeated incurs 1 point of damage to the group (as it wounds the group’s dignity in trying to hump their legs).

The feeling of another oncoming WACKY weather system prickles your skin. With a feeling of dread, you brace yourself for the effects of… A soothing, balmy breeze. Aaah… This weather effect will remain in play until the next dice are rolled.
The peace in the desert seemed too good to be true. Turns out that nice quiet spell was just the calm before the storm – or maybe all of the other weather effects were just too busy getting sucked in to that giant TORNADO straight ahead to do you any harm. This weather effect will remain in play until a 1 or a 6 are rolled on a D6.

In the distance… Is that a mirage? It certainly looks too good to be true, but as you get closer you break into a sprint when you realize that the oasis is exactly what it appears to be! Your group fully recovers HP!
Mili felt tired to the bones as she crawled from the cave, her muscles aching and her foodchute dry and parched. Owl Mom waddled out after her charge and fluffed her feathers. It had been a long wait, but eventually the lusus had left victorious. At least they didn't need to face it again.
Staying close to Vremea, she set out with the group. Soon the sound of hooves pounding on the sand came to her ears. Oh no, she thought, is that another lizard lusus? No, instead, the hulking mass of the lusus they were chasing charged towards them. Shocked for a moment, Mili quickly grabbed the net from her pack and threw it at the lusus, slowing it down.

Vremea was so happy they escaped when they did... She didn't think she'd be able to hold on much longer. They rested there for the night, generally relaxing as Vremea slept and woke up, her appearance a disarray. She was NOT leaving like this, so she managed to pull her hair into a long braid, with the help of Milieu. And out they went, off on another day...
Holy crap. The lusus was way larger than she imagined it to be... She quickly grabbed her pole and whacked it, watching as Milieu threw a net on it to slow it down. Good going, Mili! She sent her a thumbs up as she whacked it once, muscles feeling like lead.

Whoah, she must've still been exhausted holy crap. Vremea flexed her arms alittle, then ran toward it. Again, she whacked it, this time, using all her strength.

Lunear was close to tears. He didn't want to be assulted. He'd come to undermine the system, not get sand everywhere and wet and hopped upon and then attacked.
Batbro had come to his aid, screeching at the lusus who had hurt her dear little ward. Lunear just slunk into her wings, crawled under her, clung to her fur, and let her find a nice spot to shield him for the day while they rested.
It was a good rest.
The next night was a bit better, starting out his gerbils seemed happy to see he was still alive. They were also apparently not that confused and had taken a shine to his pockets. Strange lusii, but warm and friendly, a decent change.
He almost missed the sound of hooves, but when he witnessed Mili move he couldn't help but do the same, net pulled out and thrown onto the beast. "Like heck I'm about to let it escape."

Watching Lune throw a net at the lusus, Vremea took this chance to attack it once more. She ran up to it, swinging her pole at it and hitting it as if hitting a baseball. Unfortunately her hand cramped, making her hit it with little force. Damn.

Oh GOD! It was the lusus! He had to run, to hi--!! NO! He couldn't run and hide! That wasn't how he wanted to be, he was SICK of being Kei's little damsel in distress, he wanted to be the hero every once in a while....he wanted to be brave and stand up to danger, write stories about his OWN heroing....not just imagine what it's like to be on the field.
Zariah shook those thoughts from his head and set his face to a firm frown. No! Now wasn't the time for those thoughts. Be like Kei. Don't think, ACT! Zari cast the net at the beast of a lusus, praying his aim was true.

Watching as the lusus struggled free once more, she freaked as it almost left-- then sighed when she saw Zariah entangle it with his net. Vremea quickly took the opportunity to whack it one last time before the thing escaped for good.

Wow.....Vremea attacking the lusus was.....inspiring! She was so cool! He'd never been so close to a real fight before in his life! All the stories Kei told him couldn't even compare! He wondered if Vremea would be okay with him writing a ballad about her....
Ohgod.....not again.....just seeing the chipper hopbeast made Zariah remember the stain on Lunear's boot......would it look bad if he threw up a little? He had to wonder if all highbloods were that insane....the only others he'd known were growing up in the amphitheater.....but they were all pretty eccentric too...

After they traveled a little, Vremea followed after Zari, who seemed to take the lead for this time-- she was pretty happy for him, seeing him branch out. Seeing the hopbeast jump him, however, did not make her happy. She quickly swatted at it, and down it went, easily. Okay, another threat down! Good. Vremea didn't particularly like these killer animals...

"W-wow.....that was.....pretty cool," Zariah said with a sheepish grin to her. He really should stop running off on his own....every time he did he ran into another hop beast it seemed.....he didn't know if anyone would put up with much more of his foul ups. Unfortunately that never stopped him before. Zariah balked as he saw something glittering off one of the sand dunes. What was that? He scampered over to it and began to dig, finding four glittering beetles! WOW! Talk about lucky!

Mili wiped her forehead. The trek had been hard and long, but it wasn't over yet. Chewing on her lower lip, the girl kept her senses sharped as the group moved forward. In the distance something shimmered forth. Delight, but worry made her catious. Owl mom flew on ahead while the group waited.
Suddenly excited hoots and a large lusus flying back to them at breakneck speeds bolstered her hopes. It was an oasis! Running to the water, Mili drank deeply, feeling herself relax and gain a well needed rest.
