"It's EXCITING! You gotta learn how to be ABSOLUTELY STILL and blend in but you gotta know when to hoof it, too. Not good for trolls with pump-organ issues," she said with a nod of authority. "So you asked earlier if I read much, and y'know what, I'm kinda glad I don't because LIVING THE CHASE is so much cooler than just IMAGINING it while staring at boring old words. I mean, I get all my clothes off of corpses, but I wash them first. I dunno if that's normal or not." This was a child who had never known the idea of 'fashion', clearly. "Hmmm. You don't look like you'd blend in with a forest, though. And Cap-Boss-Gan looks a little too, uh, heavy for tree branches. But I don't think he'd need to hide in the canopy. He looks like a ROCK. You n' me, though, I think we're more stealth, but you'd need a looooot more practice before you could zip past a jerky highblood and one of their high-tech game-hunting guns. They can be kinda mean about lowerblood trolls getting away." Luxara said, heading towards the cave.
Finally some kind of cover! Thank glob. The lusus probably hid in there, and if SOMEHOW it didn't, well... "Good eye catching this, Did! Maybe if we're out long enough we can hide here for sun-up or something." She would never admit to needing a nap. NEVER.

Ganyma regarded Luxara. "You think I'd make a good rock? We'll have to see about that some time." he joked. "You seem to know a lot about camouflage! Let's see if the lusus is camouflaged in here somewhere..."
The cave wasn't too big, but it would certainly hold the three of them -- and was deep enough that it sheltered the group from both the undead and the harsh rays of the sun! And the WACKY, of course. Ganyma couldn't help but yawn as well. "Well, I don't think the lusus is in here. We can't as well sleep through the day, but you're right! I think this is a good place to hide out for a while. I'm up for a quick rest."
Ganyma lead the group to a nice dry spot in the cave and pulled off the warm hoodie he wore for the occasion, spreading it on the ground as a makeshift cuddleplane. The big tealblood scooted over to the cave wall and sat upon it, getting himself as comfortable as possible.
"You're welcome to join me!" he announced good naturedly. "I'll be keeping an eye out if you'd like to nap, and we'll continue after nightfall. Luxara, you're my second pair of eyes, got it?"
Delegating tasks? Hell yeah. Ganyma threw in a leaderly wink to seal the deal. He beckoned for Didero and his rather flighty looking lusus to come join him under his wing- he seemed like he wouldn't wander off, but it was best for them to be together in the cave. Maybe his lusus would finally calm down about all of this as well.

She felt important! Hell yeah! "Nothing will get by my watch!" Luxara immediately started staring intently at the entrance. She didn't even blink for a couple of minutes. It was kind of creepy.
Stagdad just quietly sat behind her as a buffer between Luxara and the rest of the group. He seemed like he was flip-flopping about if he trusted the other trolls or not.
The little troll girl just kind of leaned back on her antlerbeast lusus like he were a couch, still staring outside for as long as it was okay to do so.
"...Y'know, when I said 'rock' I meant more like boulder. Like immovable...? Something like that. Something no one would wanna mess with." She drew her knees to her chest. "I wish I could be like that." If Didero was napping, they should probably keep quiet, but Luxara didn't really know any better. She wasn't exactly yelling, but she wasn't whispering, either. Basically, what was a quiet time voice? "How do you get strong like that? I'm out EVERY night and I haven't gotten ANY bigger. It's kinda dumb." Even with her exasperation, she was still smiling. That was also a little weird. She ignored her own yawns and casual rubbing at her eyes. She was NOT tired.

[ Didero ducked into the cave after Ganyma. It was bigger than it looked from the outside! Didero, at least, could stand up easily. It was sort of curious that there wasn't something already living in such a primo location. He hoped it wasn't a beasty just out for a walk...
Gulping at his own overactive imagination, Didero considered Ganyma's offer seriously, before planting himself next to the older troll. He wasn't scared or anything! Ganyma's hoodie was just a more comfortable resting spot than the bare cave floor. It was practical.
"I'm not... that tired..." Didero muttered belatedly. He pulled his scarf up to hide an obvious yawn.
Before he could doze off much further, Didero's lusus hopped into the cave and onto Didero's lap. Being a bird, he wasn't as heavy as he looked, but Didero still squawked in surprise and struggled to climb out from under his lusus's feathers.

Ganyma jerked awake. How long had he been asleep? Maybe he had been more tired than he thought. Regardless, the troll resolved to shake himself awake now, and check on the two greenbloods. Didero and his lusus were taking up most of the space on his side and lap, so that mystery was solved. And yes -- there she was. Luxara was hunched against her lusus a little farther away. Ganyma certainly wasn't a light sleeper, but he'd never forgive himself if he didn't wake up in time for anything to happen to any troll under his watch.
Time to wait through the day -- it had gotten quite warm in the cave. Ganyma wasn't sure whether the reach of the subjugglator's daily nightmares was better or worse in the desert. Best not risk it though - the kids had plenty of naptime and they could rest upon sundown. Ganyma roused the two, offering them another nap at sundown and producing rations from his bag.

The evening. Ganyma was in the process of waking himself up with his nightly regimen of push-ups. He got to his feet upon movement in the cave. "Alright, on with the day! I know we're close to finding the lusus again." If the kids weren't already up and at 'em, they were now!
...Especially because the lusus charged through.
"M-maybe I should just keep saying the word lusus and it'll show up!" yelled Ganyma as the creature burst into the cave. "Seems to be working so far!"
He hustled to find a better spot in the cave to wrestle with it, hoping to pin it.

"Watch out!" yelped Ganyma. He sidestepped and the lusus slithered past, whacking him with a thick tail. "No you don't!" Ganyma jumped at the lusus and tried to drive it into a cave wall, barreling his shoulders into its scrabbly lizard legs. He managed to pin it near the far wall of the cave, allowing for a good number of sharp blows to land on its legs.

[ Didero slept rather fitfully through the day as the desert heated up, eventually culminating in him thrashing under his too-fluffy lusus. Pigeondad finally relented and bounced over to a rock on the other end of the cave.
Once the sun had finally set, Didero pulled himself off the marginally cooler cave floor and retied his scarf. He yawned widely and wobbled onto his feet, just in time to avoid being stepped on by the lusus.
Immediately at maximum awakeness, Didero struggled to retrieve the net he'd been lying on and throw it without getting in the way of the lusus.

Luxara occasionally dozed off, then would quickly snap awake and try to continue to be the important sentry, making sure nothing slithered in while everyone else slept, before she'd doze off again. Each time she'd wonder why she wasn't in her tree and nearly have a conniption before that great "Oh" moment.
It was eventually Ganyma's voice that made her jump to her feet and do her best to act like she wasn't still sleepy. Fortunately the wild lusus's next great rampage got her going. With a yelp, she grabbed her net and swiped.
Stagdad was about to have fit over the close quarters, and Luxara could barely keep the net on the raging parent monster with how her antlerbeast wanted to get in between her and the other creature.

"Good distraction Mr. Pigeon!" Yelled Ganyma. Didero had some impressive synergy with his very flappy lusus. Using the bird as a distraction, Ganyma grabbed at the lusus's front legs, swinging under the creature's WACKY headdress in order to flip it straight onto its face -- hopefully dislocating something or causing a short with the weather machine.
Hopefully that wouldn't damage the WACKY too much... Ganyma didn't think of that as he was trying to make the creature eat dirt. He was fairly successful in his actions, to boot. There was a crunch as one of the pieces of the WACKY had its display shattered. Oops.

Ganyma had bought himself plenty of time to rain punches on the lusus' underbelly. He expelled his push blades for the occasion, striking at its ribs before it could escape back out the cave. The nets did wonders in the tiny space, but it looked like before he knew it the lusus was out of sight again.
"It's really good luck that he hasn't ran off with our nets!" Ganyma noted astutely.

"Jeez, it's almost like this thing has some sort of BEEF with us. Attacking us in our cave and everything..." Luxara grinned. "I like it. YEAH, THAT'S WHAT YOU GET FOR TRYING TO CATCH US UNAWARES YOU BIG FRILLY FRILLER." she yelled after it. The little greenblood brushed herself off and picked her net back up before asking the others, "So, what next? Everyone all right?"

"Yeah!" Ganyma agreed. "Maybe cause we're doin' such a good job at beatin' it up." He clenched his fists and pulled is bloody push knives back in. Hatoful Dad was a little fluffed, but otherwise fine. Didero too (though he tended to err on the side of fluffy anyway, Ganyma noted).
"Time to head out, I'd say. Let's just poke our heads out of the cave and see what's out there tonight first. Just to be safe."
And Ganyma poked his head outside. "Oh, what's this?" There were little pudgy critters outside!
((I've gotta go for a little less than an hour - feel free to post without me if we don't get the lusus!))

It was exciting to find little squeaky beasts outside of the cave, but then there was...more of them? "I think we're going to be overrun, guys." Luxara chuckled with a slight tinge of worry as she tip-toed over the little mass of fluff. It was like two hoards came upon them back to back! What luck. Unfortunately, she could only take one of the little guys with her despite wanting to stuff them all in her pockets like some little pet dealer. "Try not to step on the squeakies! That means YOU, Stagdad!" she called back to the cave once she scooped up a new friend.
Stagdad just huffed and stepped out as he pleased. Fortunately, no animals were harmed.

[ Didero was practically hyperventilating after that literally close encounter with the lusus. He and his lusus were similarly disheveled. Didero rolled up his net and tried to control his heart rate. Pigeondad left the cave as soon as he was able and sat atop the entrance, preening.
Didero tottered out after, halting at the sight of the pile of gerbils.

It was quite a heartwarming moment, all those gerbils nosing at the trolls. It was like they all WANTED to go home with the group. But alas, all good times must come to an end.
Luxara's gerbil started squeaking and thrashing in her pocket, and as a confused look crossed her face, something caught her eye in her peripheral vision.
It was that big frilly friller lusus.
AGAIN.
"Ohhhhh boy, I think it really DOES have an issue with us!" she called, pointing. "Let's get this sucker!" Luxara pushed her fretting gerbil into the deep safety of her coat pocket before pulling up her net. "I'm gonna nab 'im good!"
