After testing the water that trickled down the walls and pooled at the base of the rock, she found it quite cool and refreshing. She drank her fill before starting her venture. There were some mushrooms growing in the damp coolness of the cave, but she had never cared for the taste of them. If it came down to her starving, she might risk eating one, but for now she would wait.
She carefully made her way through the cave, having to duck and squeeze through some areas because of stalactites and narrow passages. The water that dripped down the walls soon turned to ice the further in she went. She must be going further up the mountain for it to be that cold. The air she breathed seemed to be getting thinner and colder as well. There were trickles of light cascading down through the air that helped her see where she was going, but not very well. The floor of the cave had become icy and slick, so her hooves kept sliding on the ice. She figured out how to keep her footing if she stepped slowly, and dug the front edge of her hoof into the ice, creating a small groove with each step. It made for a small amount of traction to keep her from sliding or falling every step. All her focus was on staying upright, and she barely noticed that the cave had been getting brighter as she walked. It wasn't long before the iciness seemed to become more of a slush than ice, and when she looked up, she realized why. There was another opening! The sunlight that poured in kept the ice melted here. Giddy that she had found a way out, she quickened her pace and soon, she was standing outside the cave on solid, but snow covered ground.
She looked around and took in her surroundings. Icicles hung from the trees and snow was everywhere. How far had she gone while running from that beast? Maybe the cave cut through the mountain and came out on the top? She couldn't be sure for it was the first time she had ever ventured here. Her eyes darted around, searching for signs of Sar'thanon. She felt that no matter what, she would never escape him, but took a small reprieve that he was no where to be seen.... for now.
