A new species has been discovered!
Username: Snow_Leopard_Anthro
Flower name: Tisaes (Known more commonly as Reaper's Scorn)
Flower design: Tisaes is a weed more than a flower. Its has an ugly brown stem, deep purple petals with tips tinged in blood red, and a black center with little red stems coming from it.
Flower information: Reaper's Scorn is a funny named weed as it does exactly what its name says. It thwarts the Reaper himself. The plant is commonly used on Snake Bites as a compress. When pressed against the wound the plant helps to draw out the venom in the body. Sadly though if used incorrectly the plant can become fatal. The milk within the stem of the plant has deadly properties. Only the petals of the flower are used as an anti venom poultice. More often that not most people will pass over the weed as useless, and those that do know about it are rare as rare can be. Only elder Healers have knowledge of the plant but sadly as it is rare and only grows near cave entrances most Healers refuse to bother with it.

A new species has been discovered!
Username: Kyrieko
Flower name: Prickly Phantomlight Poppy
xxxx['Argemone Monotropa Poppy']
Flower design:
A smaller plant, around the average size of poppies, though their stems tend to be thicker and more durable. Their unusual color sets them apart from their cousin species of poppies, with a white-ish colored stem, pale leaves that are more prickly and common to plants found in the desert. The blossoms themselves are void of almost all color, being a pale translucent white. Both the stem and blossom are known for having the ability to 'glow', due to the bioluminescent properties it possesses.

Prickly Phantomlight Poppy

Flower information:
Unlike other poppies, the Prickly Phantomlight is less a 'flower' and more of a parasitic plant. This means it does not rely on sunlight to grow, stealing or feeding off the sunlight energy of the host plant it attaches itself to instead. Typically the Prickly phantomlight poppy doesn't become active in its feeding until the sun begins to set and its host plant has stored its fill for the day. Their leaves have even developed the more 'prickly' like shape, more common to desert plants, allowing it to conserve water longer.

Where other poppies have bright colored flower buds and various green stems, the prickly phantomlight doesn't. It does not contain chlorophyll, which gives the plant its white appearance, including the flower buds - which are also slightly translucent. However this plant also contains bioluminescent properties, broken down and released from the 'light energy' - or photosynthetic energy - stolen from its host plant. This ability to glow is how the plant earned its name, as the natives of the Kawani lands thought them to be little 'phantom lights' seen from a distance. They believe the poppy is a gift from the spirits and as such, began raising the plant near burial grounds, in honor of the spirits.

The life cycle of the Prickly Phantomlight
Like many poppies, the fertilization process is highly dependent on a third party or outside source. Typically this comes in the form of insects (ie: bumblebees, moths, butterflies) or smaller bird species (ie: hummingbird). The spores attach themselves to the insect and release themselves by either attaching to the petals of other Prickly Phantomlight's or, if the egg is fertile and manages to latch onto the insect, it will grip onto a new host plant, burrowing inside the stem to begin its parasitic process. This entire process tends to begin around the end of spring.

Once a seed has developed, it usually takes about a week to two weeks for it to begin burying roots into its host plant. The time frame depends on the strength of the host plant its taking root within. The more sturdy the plant, the longer time it takes for the seed to become a seedling. Once in this stage, the seedling will begin to sap energy from its host plant in the evenings, when the most energy is stored up. From seedling to budding plant, this process will take several weeks to a month. Usually by the beginning of the fall season, the buds will be fully developed and the poppy blossom will begin to bloom.

A new species has been discovered!
Username: Ishtanballa
Flower name: Gigatsuhali (bloody mouth)
Flower design: Early in life the gigatsuhali starts rather bland. It's four long petals are wrinkled in a manner that appears malnourished and an ugly shade of dark brown. The flower's stem is nearly non-existent, keeping the flower close to the damp earth and nearly out of sight as it blends with the dirt around it. The only sign that the flower is even alive is that it's soft to the touch. It's uniqueness comes with age. Over time the dark brown begins to redden and its petals transition from their wrinkled state to form delicate arches as the flower's stem grows.
At the prime of its life, the flower can on average have a stem that grows about 6 inches tall, and its petals turn an eye catching bright red. It's bright orange stigma standing proud and surrounded by the four large curved petals.
Flower information:
-The gigatsuhali's bright color comes from the fact that the plant is poisonous in nature. It starts brown because early in its life the poison is not as prominent. It is as the gigatsuhali matures that it begins to produce more poison, brightening its color. In its early stages of life the gigatsuhali is quite harmless, the numbing effect that it's small amount of poison produces can even serve for medicinal purposes. However, as the color brightens, the more poison the plant contains, and the more dangerous it becomes. At its prime, contact with the plant will cause burns or rashes to form. Ingestion is fatal, leading to the stiffening of limbs and a stopping of the heart.
-The gigatsuhali grows in warm swampy areas, requiring a lot of water for its growth. Heat is needed as its petals are very sensitive to the cold. The moist soil of the swamp makes it easier for the gigatsuhali's roots to sink into the earth and feed off nutrients.
-Spring is when the gigatsuhali begins to grow. It will take all of spring and most of summer for it to reach full maturity. Upon maturing, it shall remain in its prime for a month's time before beginning to die away.
-The gigatsuhali's aroma is nearly non-existent until its stem or petals are broken. At this time it releases a powerful and pungent odor akin to the smell of rot.
-Due to its poisonous nature, the gigatsuhali mostly relies on the wind to help reproduce, its pollen dispersing into the air and relying on chance. There is a small window of time in which it is actually safe for bees to assist them. This keeps the gigatsuhali's population quite low when in low wind terrain.
-The flower's name comes from its bright color and the burning in the mouth when ingested at its mature stage

Flower name: Localocarnation
Flower design: A 3-petalled, multi-faceted flower.
User Image

Flower information: The Locacarnation, aka ‘Localo,’ is a preferred flower used by shaman and other healers. If just the brightly colored red petals are plucked from the plant and ground into a tea, that tea is capable of causing hallucinations. If the Localo is ingested with the green leaves and stems with it; nothing happens. The shamen believe that this lack of dream-scape is because the flower only gives it’s visions to those that are ‘chosen.’

Because these flowers are pretty and harmless, unless handled correctly, they grow relatively abundantly in most fields during the summer season. They need a lot of sun to grow and do not need all that much water.

The most important thing to remember with the Loca is that she can cause bad visions right along with good ones; it’s been found that over-use of the vision tea typically causes the dark/evil type of visions.

Use with caution; the Localo is feisty.

Flower name: Devil's Cure
Flower design: [x]
Flower information: To use this flower for its toxic intent, one has to shed blood upon it's grounds at night. It could be their own blood or the blood of another, the flower isn't picky, the blood is what opens the flower. Once the flower is open, the petals can be plucked from it and ground up to make an elixir. The elixir can be used to paralyze, poison and even cause death depending on how the elixir is mixed and the other ingredients.

To use this flower for its healing effect, one has to visit the flower during the day when the sun is highest in the sky and collect the pollen from it's center. Just like the toxin, the pollen can be use to make an elixir but to help someone in need of pain relief.

This flower will only grow where the land has been scorched and the grass is dead. Even when the grass grows back healthy and new, there will be a spot left bare and this is where you will find the Devil's Cure.

The flower thrives upon the death of the land and the blood that is offered. It's petals stained by the very blood consumed from each offering.

Flower name: Kalmerend Iku

Flower information:
This flower grows only in Western Swamp. 6 petals surround a pale yellow center. Each petal is trimmed in a delicate silver coloration.

This flower grows on dark green, quickly climbing, vines with medium sized leaves. These vines climb 'host' trees, in which small barbs dig into the bark. The trees eventually shed all of their leaves and live only off the bare nutrients. All other nutrients go to sustain the flower and help grow healthy blossoms.

The purple blossoms have medicinal and poisonous qualities. It is recommended to use these fragrant flowers in stews, teas or ground up to a fine mush to help release all the properties. It is said to help cure night-terrors, hallucinations and generally calm the mind from insanity. It is also supposed to calm the nerves and slow the heart when it is beating to rapidly.

The flowers must be picked at the proper time though, or else this plant very quickly becomes deadly. Upon flipping the plants green leaves over, one can see the veins of the leaf. Generally they are a dark red color which means the flower is deadly but after a good rain, this changes. These dark red veins turn to dark blue, indicating that the flower is ready to be harvested as medicine.

Be quick though, as this effect only lasts until the sun falls and moon rises.
To help travelers and herbalists remember the lesson about when to properly pick the plant, ancient ancestors have passed down an old chant:

Dark green leaves, veins of blue
Not to many, make a stew
With purple flowers, heal the sick

Be careful now, not so quick!

Dark green leaves, veins of red
Eat them now, go with the Dead
Take not one, until after rain
Or purple flowers, cause much bane.

A new species has been discovered!
Username: Thalea
Flower name: Destiny’s Flame or Destiny's Star
Flower design:
User Image
Flower information:

Destiny's Flame is the flower itself, Destiny's Star is the part of the plant that will allow for the immunity to soquili blessed with flames upon their body, but to prevent confusion, the plant is called Destiny for short.

The petals are pointed and sharp; the coloration of the petals matches that of a flickering flame: yellow toward the center and transitioning to reds/oranges. Protecting Destiny’s star (the five petals in the center of the flower that create a star like shape) are seven spike thorns aimed toward the center. Wicked vines with thorns branch out from the flower. Destiny is a twisting vine that uses its thorns to grip onto walls. The roots of the flower go deep into the earth, absorbing all the moisture that it can find. Similar to a cactus, Destiny's Flame does not need much water to survive and it flourishes in hot dry environments. Destiny can be found in the desert, usually found growing up the wall of deep canyon fissures, where there is shade but also direct sunlight. When taken from this dry environment, it will take a few generations of the plant’s life cycle to be able to adapt.

Destiny is sought for its ability to make those who ingest the star center to become immune to flame burning upon the body of a soquili. It does not work on actual flame. The reasons why are currently unknown. Theories of how the plant makes the soquili immune are varied; one prominent theory is that it is believed that Destiny’s Star is a type of poison that changes the chemical makeup of the individual who ate the star. It mutates the DNA to allow for a certain tolerance of flame/burning, since the flames carried upon soquili are not as hot as wild flame, the immunity only works for lower levels of heat/flame/burns, not the raging heat of a wild fire.

In order to gain Destiny’s properties of immunity, the sharp petals and thorns must be removed so the star center comes free, it is a long process in which one needs to proceed with caution or risk the loss of blood. Once the star is free from the protective thorns, it can be consumed, no extra preparation or work is necessary.

When ingested, the one taking Destiny’s Star will begin to feel as if they have stepped into a raging fire, it is agonizing pain, and nothing can be done to alleviate the burn. Time is the only cure. This is normal and shall last a minimum of an hour. Many do not seek the plant because of the side-effects of swallowing the Star. Use of this plant has been recommended to those who have family who possess flaming hooves or to a mare that has the slightest probability of giving birth to foals with flames in order to prevent injury/burns.

Flower information: Draconios Antirrhinum
The History
Draconios Antirrhinum is native to the ancient county of Anzola and is thought to have originated along the Telmozzocon Mountain Range. In ancient times the Olumpa people of the crescendo valley thought the plant to have healing abilities. In the ancient scrolls the medicine men of the time noted the plants healing abilities to improve arthritis, chest pain, skin ulcers and male hair growth. Often the seeds of the flower were ground up and made into flower cakes that were handed out among tribesmen during spiritual ceremonies. In last decade the plant has made its way onto the Kawani lands.Kawani healers have tried using the plant for medicinal use but found the plant medical use was nonexistent to humans but ingested by soq could relieve stomach aches. However the plant ingested by humans produced Hallucinogenic affects subjects feeling the effects contentiously raised their hands over their head and effects lasted over a 48 hour period. (We do not encourage any readers of any ages to ingest Draconios Antirrhinum)

Growth

Draconios Antirrhinum is a warm-season one year annual plant. It tends to do best in warm climates with sparse waterfall. Seeds tend to be small but hardy with a hard outer shell. It takes about nine months for the plant to fully reach its mature stage. It’s only in its last three months of life can its colorful seeds fully emerge. Draconios Antirrhinum stamen emerges early in it development but as the flower reaches adult hood green petals surround much of the stamen to protect the slender filament. Many have remarked on the scale like quality of the seeds which often are dispersed by the wind or by animal. The colorful red and orange petals appeals to hummingbirds both wild & fams and its wing-like petals will often vibrate against each other which often attracts bees.

Golden Variety
The exceedingly rare golden variety is known only to grow on the hillside of Greeler controlled by the White Fang Kalona herd. Little is known about the flower due to the protective nature of the White Fang Kalona herd. It is rumored to produce a golden/orange flower and have a 10 year life span. It’s thorns are believed to be as sharp as an obsidian knife and it’s thought to have double the prickly thorns as the gentle green and red variety.

Flower name: Blue/Purple Camillis
Flower design: Flowers may be blue or purple, or display both hues in a blend. The flower itself is roughly the shape of honeysuckle and sizewise it is slightly smaller. The stems cling and grow similar to ivy, with sweet-leaf sized leaves, a dark green colour, and smooth edges. Texturally, a true Camillis will have shiny, semi-rough leaves like a cat's tongue. The lack of a woody stalk makes growth difficult and the plant is often found wrapped around trees in the woods, however, the roots are thin and spidery, spreading and tangling 12 feet around the base of the plant, with a large tuber root below the stalk.
Flower information: The Blue/Purple Camillis is a plant with multiple uses - when it grows it coils around trees like ivy and some soquili mistake a blooming blue variant for a waterfall or blue-wood. However, the flower and plant have multiple uses as a whole, making the Blue/Purple Camillis highly useful. The plant itself thrives in moist or hot conditions - the seeds may rot away the protective shell in wet areas or be pierced open by wildfires depending on the range grown, and when grown the flowers themselves may be picked by Kawani members as an antivenom effective for snake bites, gila monster bites, and similar, by steeping it with other plants in a tea - boiling them with their own leaves maximizes potency. However, the flowerts themselves should never be plucked and eaten directly, as they can work as a weak poison unprepared and will induce vomiting and loose bowels, making dehydration a danger. If dried and used as an herb or cooked themselves in soup, however, the toxins are neutralized, adding a light, subtle flavor to any disk. Additionally, a Blue/Purple Camillis is useful for any decorative use a flower has.

The rest of the plant is useful as well, vines may be woven into sturdy rtope once leaves are plucked, rivalling hemp in durability, and the tubers serving as the main root may be replanted to regrow the plant, or cleaned, sliced, and fried or baked much like other tubers. When the flowers wither, small berries will appear on the plant which may serve to attract and feed a small selection of birds, including but not limited to finches and sparrows. The berries are waxy, however, and not good for decorating as they can rot and wither quickly, and taste waxy.

(Rejuvenate Life)

Flower information:
Recreantur Vita is a unique flower that only blossoms for one month out of the entire year during the spring season. It is mostly found growing on mountains; because of the location of the flower it must rely strongly on the bugs, birds and the wind to help spread its pollun.

There are many uses for this flower but the most commonly used one is more of an old wives tale that once you consume the golden stigma of the flower your beauty will remain. Humans both female and male would go to great extremes to get a hold of the flower. Because of its rarity it’ll go for a very high trading price which makes it very desirable. The other use is the flower would be grounded up and rubbed along the body in order to cleanse the skin. One of the major setbacks to the flower is that it has a pungent odor that will stick to you for days.

It smells so bad that those who use it on their bodies are forced to overdress in layers to keep the stench from leaking out. The other use is elders of the village would grind up the petals and drink it in their tea in order to extend their lives to the fullest.

The soquili on the other hand use it for another purpose they believe placing the flower by their baskets will grant their babies a long filled life. It’s also a pretty good predator repellent because of the smell. Though because of the rarity of the flower it’s not a commonly used practice and most soquili would not dare try to retrieve a flower growing along a mountain side. Though if one is in possession of the flower they are considered to be extremely lucky and their offspring as well.

Flower name: Heart's Ease
Flower design:
Bright red petals with a streak of silver through the center. The petals are shaped oddly like half hearts. The leaves are deep blue-green and are full and plentiful on the plants. It is a clinging vine and grows high up trees in the forest (it however is not a choking vine and will not damage what it clings to).

Flower information: Heart's Ease is in great demand after the Great Fire and the starting of Rebirth. The flower is used to treat depression and it helps greatly with grieving--hence it's name Heart's Ease.

The flower petals are to be ground up into a fine powder and ingested by letting it absorb under the tongue. The effects are calming--the pain will not be taken away completely but the petal powder helps a soquili or human to be able to deal with their depression or loss better.

The leaves can be steeped into a tea to help restore energy to a body exhausted by depression.

The powder from one flower can last for three weeks worth of doses. A pinch daily is all that is needed to be ingested. The leaves can be steeped into tea several times. The steeped "tea" can be drank in the morning

Flower information:
Habitat: Takes residence only in areas where water is available in just just the right amounts and the grass is just high enough to shelter it from the light of the sun but not its warmth. High nutrients is also a huge demand so two pants cannot grow within at least 5 feet of one another.
Reproduction: male and female plants look different from one another in a very noticeable way* Producing only 4 seeds at a time and unable to grow in 5 feet of one another it's not exactly a prolific plant and very unlikely to take over any one area very effectively even if conditions are perfect. So despite being disdainfully called a weed mostly by those who lack a sense of humor it most certainly is not.
Uses: This unusual plant though it has no helpful or harmful use does do something quite entertaining.
Its pollen when inhaled affects the vocal cords for a short span of time. Usually 5-15 min depending on how much you accidentally inhaled. If you have a deep voice it makes you high and squeaky. If you have something more lady like you guessed it get ready to sing base. Also has been known to cause fits of laughter.
In short Good for a laugh but not much else.
It's safe to eat but it doesn't taste very good.

Flower name: Lava Balm

Flower design:
The Lava Balm's stem is rather flexible and dark blue in colour with slivers of redbrown being present as if an eight legged tarantula had clung itself onto it after it fell into a puddle of blood. Its thick white roots flow freely underneath the flower's broad prickly leaves the size of immature lily pads. The petals are deep red in colour streaked with orange at the tips and spotted with black uneven dots throughout, with a shape similar to the sunflowers family.

Flower information:
This strange looking flower only opens it petals at night and releases its faint sweet fragrance to attract the pollinators. Any breed of soquili and other living mammals will not be able to smell its aroma unless they have physically taken one into their mouth and had ground the petals (and sometimes the stem too) with their teeth which causes the flower to secrete a thick, clear liquid the longer its being chewed on. When the sun is out, its petals will stay closed and dangles limply in the light as if it had wilted away.

The appearance of this flower gives off a toxic like impression, which is left alone most of the time by most creatures, and only the fortunate ones who had previously experienced with it, whether it was accidental or on purpose, will know that it has a medicinal effect to soothe aching muscles. After being finely ground, the mare/stallion can spread the pulpy mess on themselves (or others) and feel a cooling effect on their sore/tired/aching muscles.

Its seeds are produced without pollination, and its offspring grow to become genetically identical to the parental plants. Depending on where the seeds have landed, Lava Balms are able to live on land or in water. It can grow thick long roots that penetrates the dry soil, burrowing deep down below to reach the ground water. When the seeds had fallen onto a plant that lives in water, it will latch onto it, feed off of it until the Lava Balm is able to float on-top of the water line on its own, and its roots being kept underwater to keep itself moisturized.

This flower will die during the winter time, bloom in spring, and wilt away once the summer season has passed. The soquili who are familiar with this sort of flower will usually pluck them out of the soil or out of the water in advance, store them in a dry place, and take them out if they are needed during the cold harsh winter season.

When ingested, it will not have any side effects because it is a non poisonous plant, and will get passed through the stomach the same day it was being eaten.

Flower name: Latin name: Dulcis decipio | Common name: DarlingTrap
Flower design: The petals are rather large, that narrow towards the end, and are formed around to create a somewhat closed bulb, with an entrance that typically keeps closed but can widen and close. At the bottom, there is a longer petal that drapes down, and is a vibrant bright colour, with a flattering speckled throat as well, that fades into the other petals shade. A long stamen like piece is in the center, on top of the actual stamen, that is filled with sweet scents, and is very sticky. On the inside of the enclosed Darlingtrap, there are small thorns that are like teeth. The leaves are broad, and succulent, and the stems are strong and sturdy.

Flower information: The DarlingTrap is native in area's where water is abudant, and moist. It needs a good amount of sunshine too, so no where too shaded by competing vegetation. They are hardy enough though to not wilt or die should they be exposed somewhere they aren't used to, they just won't flourish as well more times than not. It is a carnivorous plant that comes in a variety of colours, but is typically white, with a very flashy bottom petal to attract insects for it to ensnare. The scent is so sweet and tantilizing that comes from the center "stick" that hardly any bugs can resist. Once they get inside the enclosure, and land their little feet or wings on the stick, they will be met with a very sticky surface, and the flower will close around to let the thorns inside seep in and trap the bug until it dies.
The flower closes up at night and opens at dawn. It can be used to keep around the tribes as they help greatly with any unwanted flying bug pests that might be bothersome. They can also be used for medicine and aid in those who are healing, or recovering, the DarlingTrap can provide energy and really get the immune system a nice boost. Sometimes the DarlingTraps can be used for poisons, the sticky center actually quite deadly when ingested.

Flower name: Mimic Root
Flower design: A spindly, crawling root-based flower with ballet-slipper pink shimmering flowers. Hidden under the petals of each flower is a cluster of sharp thorns gathered at the base of the bud and small waxy leaves are scattered about on the thorny stem.
Flower information:

Brief Description:: The Mimic Root is a beautiful, yet harmful flower. Like it's namesake suggests, the flower mimics the appearance of a common harmless wildflower. However, it hides a nasty bite beneath it's opalescent petals.

Locations:: The Mimic Root can be found in rocky areas and at the bases of mountains. It can survive in sunlight and shade, but flourishes with an equal mix of both. It does not need a lot of water to survive due to the thick and sturdy roots that anchor it in place and house all of it's moisture. The Mimic Root cannot survive in areas that it cannot grow and cling to rocks or sturdy surfaces, and so it won't be found in deserts or large flat fields.

Seasons:: The Mimic Root thrives in all seasons except Winter. During the winter season, the Mimic Root becomes dormant. It's toxin stagnates and it's petals fall off, revealing the deadly spikes beneath. The Winter season is the best time to locate surrounding Mimic Root clusters and irradiate them before they are disguised again that coming Spring.

Ouch!:: When a creature attempts to pull the flower from it's roots to eat it, the flower's thorny traps beneath it's bud serve as a defense mechanism and bite into the animal's lips and mouth. The toxins secreted by the thorns irritate the skin and swell the tongue and jaw so that the creature cannot eat until the toxin leaves their system or they are treated for it. This can lead to bouts of starvation for those traveling alone in the rocky wilderness that this flower calls home. The flower is especially lethal to familiars due to the size difference and toxin dosage, and familiars that fall prey to the Mimic Root's trap often suffocate without assistance. This flower is less lethal to humans as they would normally pick flowers with their hands. Therefore, to humans, being stuck with the thorn of the Mimic Root is the equivalent of a bad bee sting.

Defensive:: Mimic Root can be removed carefully from it's origin in the Winter and be wrapped around a rock in an area with pest problems. It will reanimate when it warms up and continue to grow in it's new spot, warding off any critters that may stray too close to crops or village food surpluses.

Medicinal:: The sparse, waxy leaves of the Mimic Root can be crushed and used as a soothing balm for the affected area, but extracting them without being stuck by thorns is a tough feat, at least for a Soquili. The balm also works for other nature-based skin irritants like bug bites and poison ivy.
