Kakadesu Kalika Kingslayer AriaG Kalika Kingslayer AriaG Yeah. And the right nature can up speed, attack, or defense even more xd Yeah but usually it nvr matters to me. Okay, that's fine. But, it does matter to competitive people. People shouldn't be so competative. Hang on.... WHAT!!! "People shouldn't be competitive"???? Why? What if they WANT to be competitive. Also if YOU don;t want to be competitive, why is this an issue? Simply don't play with people whom you think are too competitive. Same thing could be said about sports. "Oh they shouldn't be too competitve", but where would the fun be in that? It'd be like Sarcastaball all over again, one giant love in. +1 for southpark reference

Honestly I nvr got the fact that the game was supposed to be so competative . If you win an online battle good for you. If you lose so what? It isn't all about winning, Pokemon was nvr supposed to be about that. If YOU think it is then you sir have lost the true meaning of Pokemon.

Caring and looking after pets (pokemon), growing through life experiences, reinforcing right and wrong behaviours, collecting things (pokemon), sharing and making friends and also "being the best you can be". Hell it's in the bleeding opening credits of the cartoon. Heck it is always "who is better" ever since red and blue. The whole point of battling is sharing and communicating and developing relationships between trainers by showing off techniques and personal choices and seeing who is the stronger. This is competing between trainers. If pokemon was never about competiton, we would have no anime, no TCG, no battle system.... Hell there would be no elite 4, no regional championships (in game or out of game as the VGC). We would simply be catching them all and trading. Levelling would be pointless (beyond evolution), training pokemon would be pointless. We wopuld simply have a different themed katamari. Yes I know the tag line is "gotta catch em all". My point is that there is something for everyone in Pokemon. You can be a collector, a trader, a trainer, a casual battler or you can be competitive. YOU choose what you want to be. And what pokemon teaches is that you choose your destiny, but so should everyone else, and what right do you have to demand that everyone else follows your bent on the world? None. I want to be the best in my area. SO I am going to be a bleeding edge competitive person to do that. That means I am going to IV breed, EV train, breed egg moves and optimise like only an Australian can (beer in hand, pokermaanz in the other)

Well I read what he said and he was just trying to push that pokemon is based around a semi competitive spirit but ultimately anyone can pick what they want to do, which is what most of the issues here are. Nobody is right to say no one should be competitive, or saying everyone should be competitive, the original point of the thread was you saying natures don't matter which people pointed out was wrong technically and you ignored that. If you want to open up a discussion over what people prefer to play as that's fine but that is not what this originally started as so it would be good to listen to what others were saying instead of just saying "bleh competitive".

I battle online but my point in this all is not to be too competative. I hung around my older brother as a kid. He taught me to spit and yes I don't like losing. Pokemon is something I don't mind losing at.

Pokemon when Blue first came out was more about having fun than being a competition. Even with the new online battle feature its going to be about having fun.
Unless you're in a guild tournament or a MLG sponsored tournament, theres no need to be competitive. So what if you lose a battle? So what if you win one? Do you expect a trophy?
And bear in mind, kids as young as 5 years old or a little older play Pokemon. Kids who dont care about winning or losing. Kids who want to have fun. Kids that want a toxic-free environment. Which a competitive nature does not bring.
And if anything, the games and the tv shows teach an important moral: neglecting pokemon because they are weak or have a weak nature is wrong. Trainers treat all of their pokemon with love and respect. If you ignore, neglect and forget about that then you've lost actual the meaning of the game.
