"I'm glad," he said softly, nuzzling her gently. "Come on, let's find you a healer, and a safe place to rest."

"Somewhere to rest.... will be fine," she murmured. She didn't think she needed a healer, but maybe....

"A place to rest, it is then. I can find us a nice cave nearby, perhaps, or an enclosed glade with a nice pond. I prefer the cave, as it is easier to defend, however, the glade would be more comfortable for you, to rest your wounds. It is your decision, I will look for whichever you prefer, fair lady," he said softly. She said she hadn't been offended by his calling her pretty, so fair should be..well.. fair game, right? He hoped so; though he chided himself. Here she was in pain, and he was worried about word choices? What right did he have to notice how pretty she was? He should be worried about her wound, and noticing that only, not her pretty blues.

"Somewhere with clean water," she said dropping her head tiredly. "And close, if possible... I can use the water to clean my wounds... thank you... Forgive me... have you given me your name? I... can't seem to remember..." things were getting very fuzzy, and she was definitely finding it harder to focus.

"Clean water, a glade it is then, there should be one not too far. If you lean your weight on me and we move in lockstep, do you think you could walk? If not I can try and rig up a stretcher, but that will take more time and might jostle you," he said concerned. This was why he had to be a better protector, because when he failed, someone got hurt and he was not as well equipped to deal with healing and banding wounds. Never mind that he hadn't even met her when she became injured, he still felt that he should have been there to stop it from happening, to protect her.

She could sense his self blame and concern, and her uncertainty deepened. "I... I can try walking," she murmured.

He nodded once. "That would probably cause you the least pain," he said softly. It also would be the easiest way for him to defend her, should they come across trouble again. "Lean on me," he advised. "We're going to keep walking, further from where we crossed, to find another river or a pond, alright?" he asked softly. "Lean on me," he repeated, soothingly, "and you set the pace, I will match my stride to yours. We'll get you somewhere you can wash and rest. I swear it n my life," he whispered those last words, but felt them reverberate throughout his body with the force of conviction. He would defend her. He would protect her and keep her safe, no matter the cost to himself. It was what he did, he protected those who needed him. It was what he had always done, albeit mostly for his brother; however Lorimer had never needed him quite so badly as this mare needed him just now. It didn't matter, not now. It couldn't, he couldn't let it. He would get her to safety, all else, all other thoughts would come later. He focused on the feel of her body so he could match her stride, and so he could - hopefully - tell by how she trembled how much further she could go. He kept his ears perked for danger, and for any source of water that did not share a direction with the foe that had wounded the fair maid....the damsel in distress.... oh for grasses sake, that had wounded the mare he was aiding. Spirits, may his brother never find out how maudlin his thoughts had become... he'd never live it down.

She leaned against him, cautiously. If she had been a little stronger, she would have insisted on walking on her own. But she wasn't stronger. She needed the support, as much as she hated to admit it. As his warmth sunk into her side, she felt a wave of homesickness wash over her. She missed her uncle, the safety that she had in his mountainous regions. She leaned a bit more heavily against him as her vision started to go a little dark around the edges. Oh no, she wouldn't pass out. Not until they had reached safety...

Thank the grasses and trees! He heard the sound of a stream ahead. He helped her there, and while it wasn't a full clearing, there was space enough for him to be able to circle her, to get to anything that came from the trees or across the stream before it could get to her.
"Here, let's get you laid down, then I can clean your wound," he offered slowly, fretting. He was not... the most adept at first aid, but he would try.
He helped her ease down, then stepped back slightly so she could get comfortable, or at least, as comfortable as was possible, given how serious her wound was. He had felt her trembling, weakening, as they walked. If he could take her wounds onto himself, he would. Without hesitation. If it meant she was healed, he would take that pain and bear it for her. But such powers were beyond him.
So he fretted. And he tried to remind himself that he didn't fail to protect her, that she wasn't injured because he wasn't good enough; she was hurt before they had met...
But what if he had gotten to the woods just a little sooner? Well... Wishes and fishes, and neither helped her now.
"What can I do for you?" he asked in a worried whisper, fretting.

She settled onto the ground, grateful that it wasn't as far away as it had been. At least now if she blacked out, she wouldn't have far to fall. She laid her head down on her legs, just for good measure and closed her eyes, trying to think. What needed to be done? Her wing hurt so badly... "Wound...." she murmured. It seemed that she had heard someone mention cleaning it. Had it been him? Maybe... she wasn't quite processing everything he was saying. "I should clean... the wound... Don't want it to become infected..." She could almost see her wings falling off because of some sort of infection, or worse.

"Okay, I can do that," he said. He hoped he could do that. She seemed to want to sleep, to be falling asleep. Should he let her? He wasn't sure. He knew if it was a head wound she should stay awake, but if it was safe for her to sleep, shouldn't she be allowed the escape from pain that was temporary oblivion? But... he had to make sure it WAS temporary. Okay, he gets her through this, he would learn more first aid. Some how.
But first... he had to clean her wounds. He.... had no clue how. He had nothing to carry the water with to wash it out. He wasn't going to push her INTO the water, state she was in, she might drown... he could take mouthfuls from the river and spit them on her wounds, he supposed.
He looked around for something else, anything else, but.... there was nothing. Were he human and able to weave twigs into a bowl, maybe, but... hooves were better suited to running than arts and crafts.
He sighed, then took a mouthful of the water from the stream, and hoped he could do this properly, without hurting her worse. And yeah, he actually didn't think about the germs in his mouth adding to the problem. He was a protector, not a healer. If he did his job, they never GOT to this point! He really had no clue what he was doing and was running on panic. It was... almost cute. Not that he would have appreciated it if anyone pointed that out to him...
He moved over to her and gently dribbled the water from his mouth onto the wound.

Lian watched him walk away through half closed eyes, but the darkness claimed her before she could see what he was up to. Her final thought as she drifted off was to hope that her feather brained familiar wasn't getting himself into as much trouble as she seemed to have.
As if her final thought had summoned him, a silver and blue blur zipped out of the forest. Little Willow had taken his eyes off his mistress for a few minutes and she went and got herself into more trouble! His feathers fluffed up in frustration as his tiny eyes pinpointed the newest threat. The great, hulking, golden monster was no match for the tiny feathered ninja, however, as Willow dove at Kyad's head, screeching his little battle cry, "DEATH FROM ABOVE!"

He saw the creature flying at them and moved to defend, spitting the rest of the water in the bird's general direction. "LEAVE HER ALONE!" He screamed at the bird, putting himself over Lian as much as possible without hurting her. Given her wings... that wasn't much at all...

The little bird hit his target dead on, right on the top of it's head... which was full of very clingy curls.... "Crud!" Willow yelped when his little claws and wings became entangled with Kyad's ringlets. "Curse you! Release me! Release me this instant!"

"Um... what?" he asked, confused. He walked to the lake, keeping a half eye on her, to pull the creature further from the mare that he was watching. And then, if the bird was still there... shoved his own head, hair bird and all, into the water.
