Her smile was infectious and he found his smile growing because of it. "How do I start? Is it similar to how we use our gifts, or is there a special thought pattern one needs to have?"

"It's similar to how we use our gifts, and similar to how some mages work their spells."
She created a little dish from the earth and moved her hands/hooves in a way to move a little water from the cave to the bowl. Small and simple. She stayed in his mind so he could see and feel what she was doing.

Damien nodded and created his own little dish for the water he was to summon to him. He waved his hoof the way she had done, using the information she was sharing with him by being in his mind. A small glob of water came away from the floor of the cave and filled his bowl. He smiled proudly and sighed.
"It is different. You're right in the way you describe it. It does feel like a bit of mage and a bit of us. I wonder then, if all water benders could be lifemates. Are there other kinds of benders?"

"There's benders for Air, Fire, and Earth as well. I've been told there's a being called the Avatar. He or she is supposed to be a peace bringing being and they can learn all 4 elements. However, there's only one every so often to be born."
As for the possibility of lifemates, I'm not sure if all can be. I haven't heard of it before. Although, I guess it'd be possible.
She smiled as she had a little fun with her bowl, creating various little shapes with the water.

Damien was mimicking Sadira's shapes with his own water.
Are the other benders compatible with our race also? Damien's brow furrowed in thought, With our abilities already being of the earth, is it possible for us to learn all manners of bending?

In theory we could, but we'll always be stronger in one element. I'm not sure if the others are compatible. I don't see why they wouldn't be.
They were intriguing possibilities too.

I was born a water bender. I think there's fire in our blood but I never showed signs of fire bending.
Playfully, she set up a water checkers game from her water. She looked to him with a little twinkle in her eye.

Damien smiled at her and scooted closer to the game. "Ladies first."
But how did you know you were a water bender? Was there a feeling or some sort of connection? Did you try all the elements until you just found one that fit?

More of a connection than testing what I can do. I'm not sure about everyone else but it was a connection for me... like finding you.
She made her first move, moving a piece forward on the board.

He moved one of his checkers up a space and looked back up at her.
I suppose it wouldn't be fair to take a peek and see what move you're planning next...
He was sitting there smirking at her, mischief gleaming in his eye for the first time since he was a boy. He savored the feeling and shared it with her.

She sent the mental equivalent of sticking her tongue out at him. She was liking the mischief side he had. She pushed forward another piece.

He only managed to grin wider. Damien moved another piece forward, coming into range of one of her checkers.
Well...I'll have to see if I can't work for some hints.
He used his mind to brush kisses from her ear to her neck. He was having fun playing with her.
