Becka pulled her hand back quickly, startled by the reaction from the silver egg, well she certainly never expected to be caught out by the EGG. She visibly jumped a little at the voice speaking to her "oh me?" she said, though it was obvious Jemi was talking to her. "Oh no, no you wouldn't, i'm not technically a candidate but my friend T'rel, do you know him?, well said it was ok, Apparently he thinks i should Stand" she looked down, she could have lied but there was no point, "I didn't think it would hurt, i mean, they're fascinating aren't they?" she said, glancing back at Jemi "It's not like any of them are for me, i'm a healer first and foremost but i just wanted to touch a clutch ... just once you know?" She HOPED T'rel had gotten permission from the Weyrwoman AND the Candidatemaster for this, she'd kill him if she got into real trouble for being here.

She didn't see the glare she was getting from Cai Which was good, she might have ended up scuttling from the Sands then getting told off by T'rel later for letting herself be bullied away. Regardless, she moved to the next egg, the cold looking Frosted Egg.. Oh well this one felt much different to the last one, it was much slicker than the gritty texture of the silver egg. Was that normal? She didn't know, perhaps she should look it up. After all once she got her Journeyman status she was tempted to look into DragonHealing as well as people Healing.

Ritsa's hands retracted from the rather cold shoulder she had received from the egg. It wasn't her fault it wanted to be so far out here where everyone would see him first. And she didn't need him anyway. Looking from left to right the young woman tried to choose which path to take next. The other candidates were busily moving from one egg to the next while she had lingered at the silver egg. Shaking her head Ritsa finally chose her course.

Turning to her right Ritsa moved towards the Frosted egg. Strange how it balanced to nicely against a different egg. Part of her wondered if there would be a strange connection between the two dragons when they hatched. Shaking the thought from her head, Ritsa placed her hands along the shell.

Kaimi
Pathetic! Kaimi drew her hand away from the silver egg abruptly. She supposed the dragon inside was entitled to its opinion, but Kaimi hardly considered a life fully and joyfully lived to be pathetic. She frowned thoughtfully, biting her lip. Would all the eggs be like that? Blunt and invasive? Surely not... She just hadn't touched the right one yet.

Kaimi brushed off her emotions and took a breath. There were candidates clustered around most of the eggs, though it looked like the Gold Egg was currently unattended. She made her way over to the huge egg and placed her hands on it with more confidence than she necessarily felt. No sense in being a shy violet! Especially when shyness was not in her nature.

Mairin

Mairin felt a bit bad for the rusted egg and tried her best to convey a sense of calmness, now was not the time for hatching, along with a touch of warning that there would be others coming to see it, wanting to know it. There was nothing else she could do for the uncertain, unborn dragon though. It would have to find it's footing during the touching on it's own.

That done Mairin pulled away and walked just a few steps to her right so that she could touch the egg next to it. The look of the Ocean egg made her long for the sea. While she was committed to being a candidate Mairin did miss the seacraft, the long months of sailing out across waters be they calm or stormy, familiar or unknown. The sights, sounds and smells of a ship and the open ocean were imprinted in her mind so strongly that they would never fade. She might not be part of a crew anymore but Mairin was part of a squadron of candidates which functioned similarly and the Weyr was just as much a place of order and structure as any ship, which usually suited her well.

The girl reached a hand out and placed her calloused palm flat against the side of the egg, instantly able to feel how it's shell's texture differed from it's neighbor.. Would this be another of the Weyr's dragons that liked the water? Would they be one day skim close to the surface of the ocean and try to snatch a fish from the water? Would they be more content just paddling about in the dragon lake or perhaps they might not care for water at all?

This time Mairin was the one with questions and she could only wait to see if they would be answered or even acknowledged.

Jyael's mind was quickly invaded with an excited presence. What a nice young man! The egg was so happy he was here! It spent a moment praising him and his nice manners. Once it was done, however, it seemed to sweetly dismiss him. He must go and see the others! Quickly now, don't waste any time!

Dea and #Teddy#

Rude! The egg didn't seem terribly taken with Astriana's sudden presence. And she was purposely ignoring the egg's new friend! Rude!! The thought was conveyed with a chiding tone, though the egg immediately withdrew and refused to be friendly towards her.

Revel1984

The frosted egg immediately greeted Becka with a warm welcome. Do not mind the others, it seemed to say, you are welcome here! Now that she was here, didn't she want to play? Dance maybe? The egg seemed unaware that such things were impossible in its current state. It wanted to make friends!

Silver_tigress18

The egg seemed to flare in momentary frustration at the sudden appearance of a second person. One at a time! One at a time!! Such rudeness today! Then its attitude swiftly changed. Did they all want to see it so very badly? This was nice, all the attention, but didn't they want to go see the other eggs? They all deserved attention! Go along, then!

"And you are an overgrown wherry," she replied back and stretched looking about for the little not candidate. Well, that was odd. T'rel was not the candidate master nor the Weyrwoman. Still, she wasn't the girl's keeper and didn't want to be.

She glanced about and headed towards the Rusted egg. So many to touch an see.

Dianno

Huh. Told to move on again. From the reactions he was seeing around him apparently the other candidates were getting a little more action from their eggs than he was getting from his. Just his luck that he touched the two most boring eggs first apparently. Dianno didn't linger by the bright eggs side. He turned towards two smaller eggs nearby and placed his hand on the shell of the Blazing Egg. It looked more promising than the others at least.

Elsi
There was a buzz of energy that Elsi found infectious.. however she was wary of it. No need to get too worked up, right? It was very, very hard to keep to her old, cautious ways with the other girls with smiles on their faces.. or at least some of them. Others looked a little sick to their stomach.

Regardless, she put her boots on, wearing slacks and a tunic that had been offered to her. The snow-dwelling female wasn't used to wearing so few layers of clothing. Frankly she almost felt naked. Gingerly, she smoothed the tunic and looked down at herself, making sure she didn't look quite as exposed as she felt.

The only thing that felt natural were the boots, heavy and suggested to be work against the scorching heat of the sands. On the day of the hatching they'd be wearing thin slippers, but on the day of a touching there was no need to punish their feet.

The excited bunch walked through the halls, but eventually spilled forth into an -impossibly- hot cavern. Elsi broke out into a sweat immediately, feeling it trickling down her forehead. However, even the heat wouldn't keep her from immediately noticing the queen dragon. It was such a large creature, larger even than Zelith. Her neck craned up wide-eyed as she took in the sight. How did the queen dragon feel? Elsi wondered idly, perhaps smug from producing her clutch, or brooding and protective of the gold egg on the sands. Her eyes drifted towards that particular egg, but looked away long enough to give a customary bow to the queen dragon before gingerly stepping forward on the sands. She allowed the other candidates to surge forward first, wanting to let them test the waters a touch. Their expressions contorted to a variety of expressions depending upon which egg their hands brushed across. Fascinating. Was their presence truly that easy to sense?

Emboldened, she stepped forward, choosing an egg based on its lack of any particular person touching it other than any real preference over any particular one. A hold born girl wouldn't know what sort of egg would hold her dragon for sure; and she felt that the weyrbreds probably didn't know either. She waited until a candidate moved away from the Frosted Egg and peered at it curiously. Okay.. perhaps she was a little biased. It looked so cool and icy, it clenched her heart and reminded her of home.

She knelt down and ran her fingers across it, until finally smoothing her entire palm over the surface. The egg wasn't cold, of course. She assumed it was probably just as warm as every other egg on the stands. However, its slick surface was pleasing to her hands, ilke silky, warm ice.

Fiolen

It had been a few days since the former drudge was drafted into the candidacy. Really, the shock of it had not worn off yet. The idea that he could truly end up on the sands and potentially impressing a dragon hadn't really sunk in until he'd filed out into the hot hatching sands.

He'd become more confident over the course of those few days. The lack of harassment was something he realized would be the norm. There were candidates of all shapes, sizes, colors and minds, he'd realized. The beatings never came, and Fio was…. -happy-.

So emboldened by this new status and environment, he'd decided to braid his hair, a lovely tress that went over his shoulder with a yellow ribbon twined into it. If he'd gotten strange looks for it, he hadn't noticed. What he -had- noticed though was a blue rider just the other day, a senior weyrling with a long braid of fiery red hair that caused him to be envious. When the tall, handsome red-haired man strode up to stroke a huge, husky looking blue, he was envious all the more.

Boys could wear their hair in pretty braids. And so he did, his head held up higher than usual and his back a little straighter.. oh but yes.. back to him walking onto the sands…

The gold! It was huge! A noise escaped Fio, something of a gasp and a barely contained squeak of awe at the sheer magnitude of the beast; far bigger than the blue and it's rider Fio had spied upon the other day.

He almost forgot to bow, but saw an elegant looking woman do so beside him and quickly followed suit, his heart beating so quickly in his chest he feared it would explode. His eyes scanned the eggs, only just registering them after the shock of seeing a gold so close. They varied in size, and each and every one no doubt contained a living, breathing dragon. Baby. Dragon.

Fio wanted to touch these eggs. He wanted to touch them badly.

His feet shifted with anticipation, looking amongst the eggs as if unsure of which to go to. Finally he made a decision, what criteria he'd used to decide was probably a -tiny- bit biased. That pink colored Pale Egg was gorgeous. Stepping up to it on light feet, he stared at it for easily twenty seconds before gently running both his hands across the large, expansive shell. The tiny grooves tickled his hands and the shell felt hard, but he still stroked it as gently as if he were running his hand across a newborn babe's head.

Kaimi

No, not all eggs were like that, the golden egg reassured Kaimi almost immediately after the girl had put her hand on the gold shell. Sheesh, the silver egg was such a jerk! The gold egg encouraged Kaimi to take heart and visit the other, much kinder eggs. Be brave, dear Kaimi! Exciting things will be taking place soon!

So many new friends today! The frosted egg was delighted. Would Elsi dance for it? Dance, Elsi! Share in the joy that is life! The frosted egg wanted to dance with her, not seeming to understand that its movement was limited by the egg it currently occupied.

The pale egg was pleased: so many visitors already! Was it really that important? It gave Fio a gentle nudge to move on. Onward!

Kaimi
Kaimi felt her shoulders go back and her chin raise at the warm encouragement given by the gold egg. It was right, the silver egg was a jerk but there were nicer eggs out there. The gold was proof of that. She smiled and gave the egg a friendly pat, thanking it for the reassurance it had given her. She felt courageous and ready to move on. There were so many eggs to touch and not enough time!

Just behind the gold egg, hidden away, was a lovely green egg. And in front of it sat a bumpy brown one. And just over to that size was a beautiful purple egg. She just wasn't certain what to touch first. But from where she stood, the scaled egg was the closest. She rested her hands upon it, smiling at the texture. Each egg seemed to be so different and unique! She wondered if the egg textures and appearance had any bearing on the hatchling within.

Elsi

W-what? Dance? The egg hadn't exactly -talked- to her, but the feelings of delight and movement made her mind go to the sprightly movements that was dance. The egg was surely heavy and -dancing- with it was out of the question; picking up eggs was definitely specified as a no-no.

Still, the thought amused her and she set her fingers up upon their index and middle as if her hand were on two legs and "Danced" a sprightly little dance across the slick shell.

Fiolen

He'd FELT something! A presence within the egg! Though he obviously felt as if he'd been dismissed, that tiny notion was very easily and -expressly- forgiven before he pulled his hands from the egg.

It was such a thrill; Fio wanted to touch -all- of them, now! Well, not the gold one of course; he wasn't that disillusioned… and the sight of the sheer mass of gold made him think he'd never want to wash that much dragon anyways, even if he -were- a girl.

The wicked one was practically a few steps away and Fio had no qualms with moving towards it. Its dark purple shell with darker tones whipping in such an artful (and almost ominous) way.

This shell felt very different, and Fio let out a soft sigh of appreciation at how it felt…. soft, really. Not in the context of pliability so much as it was like a crushed satin draped over a heated stone. But this was no stone, and he eagerly reached out earnestly and hopefully, searching for that same 'zap' of presence that the other egg had given. He was so happy. So -excited- to meet these eggs.

Astriana
The girl felt a bump beside her and gave a slight nod of her head to her brother, she knew he would go for the egg next to the one she had put her hand on. Then she heard a voice from the egg and thought how extremely rude it had been to her. She bit back a growl, before taking her hand off the egg, not showing any emotions in her face, but her twin would be able to see the annoyance in her eyes.

"Well, cannot say I was too happy with the coldness from this one. I think we should trade places,"she suggested to him in a dead pan voice, before pressing her hands against the blazing egg. She was not going to let the thoughts of one little dragon egg get the best of her.

Moral Obligation

Well done! The frosted egg was pleased with Elsi's dancing! She would have to go now, go and dance for the other eggs! Do be careful of the Wicked Egg! It doesn't appreciate dancing as much!

The Wicked Egg seemed to mentally blast Fio with a feeling of dissent. GO AWAY! Just go away, and tell the others to stay away!

Jyael
It took a bit for the dragonet inside the egg to react to his presence but once it did he found it to be quite a friendly little thing. However, the egg was right, he couldn't dawdle. Withdrawing his hand he moved over a few steps and then placed it upon the Blazing egg. He was quite curious to see the difference in personalities between this one and it's neighbor whom he had already met.
