Sylvia's blade swept low, knocking Jordan off his feet; he tucked in and landed on his shoulder, letting Ferros's momentum continue the twisting motion and give his roll impetus. He came up onto one knee, braced himself with his free hand, and brought the hammer sweeping around again, moving smoothly and rapidly.
They could have stopped, but it felt like they had something to prove, something to win. What exactly that might be they weren't clear on, and the shrieking wind Ro and Sylvia had unleashed had pushed them into a state of mind where training and reflex overrode the necessity for conscious thought.

Roland watched with a frown as Jordan quickly recovered from the trip, still continuing to carry the swing. He frowned a bit more watching the hammer move towards him, his own weapon lashing out to try and catch the blow. Sylvia could only hold out so much, the shield was dropping quickly and suddenly was gone.
For a brief moment they clashed in a stand still, a second later Roland was tumbling backwards across the training ground before landing flat on his back staring blankly into the sky for a moment, Sylvia vanishing from his grasp.

Ro landed flat, Sylvia desummoning, and Jordan got up slowly, Ferros vanishing in response. He wasn't sure how he felt. Maybe he'd won. Maybe not. He moved over to offer Ro a hand up. "You okay?"

Roland lay in the dirt, Sylvia pouting faintly in the back of his mind, they had come so close to winning too. Sylvia of course didn't fully understand Roland's motivation in all this and even he himself wasn't sure what he had wanted to gain, just a chance to work it all out in a fit of anger and violence?
Suddenly Jordan was above him offering a hand, rather then reach up Ro moved his hands behind his head continuing to lay where he landed.
"They put in dampeners. I think my arm should be broken right now honestly.

"I know," Jordan said, not specifying which part of the statement he was responding to, and let his hand drop back to his side before tucking his hands back in his pockets. He was silent for a few seconds, studying Ro; he didn't apologize. "You almost -- beat us," he added. The break in the sentence was tiny, a word quickly swapped out for something different, another shading of meaning. He sighed and looked off towards the horizon, tension gathering in the corners of his eyes and mouth. "I don't want to lose your friendship," he said.

Roland raised his arm slowly towards the sky flexing his fingers slowly, curiously recalling how in the past he had gone through something like this and nearly lost his arm. His eyes shifted from his fingers and the sky to Jordan in the corner of his vision. A flicker of a pause, a change in a word.
"I'm sorry I brought it up."

"Sorry." Jordan smiled a smile with more pain than humor in it. "It sucks. I know. Better to get it out and settled now, though. So we can start moving past it." They should probably feel more guilt about knocking Ro down. There were dampeners, and while that didn't negate the need for attention to your opponent's condition ... he'd needed to finish the spar, to make the point. To be more cruel than he needed to, more than he normally would, to help extinguish any flicker of emotion rekindled by a glimpse of a world that wasn't. There were probably other ways he could have done it, but this spar hadn't been the friendly exchange that it might have been under other circumstances. Frustration and dissonance lay under the interaction; Jordan had needed or maybe wanted to make it clear to himself as well as Ro. He wasn't that other version. This was the world he lived in, the sequence of choices he had made, was still making. He didn't quite regret what he'd done, only that it had hurt. Maybe it was ironic that he was taking a page from his other's book in dealing with this, using that kind of manipulative practicality to influence someone else's turn of thought. But that was him, too, and he'd been refusing to accept it for too long. He wasn't going to impose guilt on himself over what he did feel, or what he didn't. That way lay a madness that had come dangerously close to taking him apart and destroying what he had as well as what he didn't.

Roland only offered a half shrug as his arm still stretched towards the sky, fingers flexing slowly to grip at a weapon that wasn't there at the moment. Regardless of what message was meant to be sent, or what Roland felt it seemed his only concern was the fact that his arm was still able to function after such a blow.
He wasn't sure who he was any more, even without the other worlds, the other Roland's floating around in the back of his mind or else where in the gaps between worlds. He wasn't sure about anything any more.
His eyes slid to the side, catching the pained smiled, the message becoming a bit more clear, his arm dropped and he let his eyes shut as Sylvia worked to rebuild his shield muttering in frustration in the back of his mind.
"Yeah, that's a good way to put it..."

Jordan sighed almost silently. "I'm going to go grab something to eat," he said. "You going to be okay?" He didn't expect Ro to go with him. Things were awkward enough, and maybe if he left Ro alone for a while the other man would feel less pressured. Still, it didn't quite feel right to just walk off. Maybe he'd text later to check up on him.

Roland continued to lay there as Jordan spoke only nodding a bit and offering a thumbs up a bit towards him. "Enjoy man." He laid back against the dirt again watching the sky slowly drift by.

Jordan nodded after a moment and turned to head off towards the cafeteria. He had things to think about himself, and both of them could use some space to contemplate.
