Her name being called caught the fauny by surprise, but this was so exciting how could she not say yes! It was good to be out of the tree after all. She couldn't believe she didn't come last year?
The fauny bounced to her feet and quickly located her partner as everyone started to pair off. "Shall we dance?" She smiled to the purple god, her hands behind her back as she smiled to him, swaying from side to side in excitement. Her partner, Iordanes, was certainly different from the others...But that didn't matter. He..She?...Was a god after all...dess? Oh she'd figure that out later!

Terzjian was... a bit wobbly on his feet, even if he drew himself ramrod straight to try and mask it. He just honestly spent very little time out of the water. He would have his full balance soon enough. Air against his skin was, he was sure, always going to be a strange sensation. He also felt strangely exposed on land, he realised. Shaking his head, he tried to push that out of his mind. He had the distinct feeling that the pae throwing the party would hardly tolerate someone disturbing it. He milled about with the others as he listened to names being called two-by-two. Casting an apprehensive glance at Venus' entourage, Terzjian wondered if this had been a good idea after all. He'd done it on a whim, having had the free time and the curiosity both to spare. Eh, why not? What was the worst that could happen? Would everyone be called? He was pretty sure he saw more contestants than he did deities. Watching as pae around him went up, he counted them off in his mind. As the list of available partners dwindled, he let his mind wander to what he would do when he got home, sure that he wouldn't be among the names by this point. ...Of course, fate had a way of proving him wrong, he supposed. Kleta? He wasn't sure, offhand, who she was, but he'd at least make himself obvious so she could find him. Clearing his throat a little, Terzjian made his way towards the gods, looking about.

Another year, another dance. How was he to say no to his kindly mother anyway? Usual gentle expression on his face, Dylo found himself lost in thoughts of his beloved and how jealous he'd been when informing the demon of the events he had to engage in. It was.. quite adorable, really. His cheeks lifted a little more as he clearly seemed further tickled by the thought, and image of the displeased face, only to realize he had a duty to uphold. A simple dance was fine and harmless, of course, and he could certainly make it up to his love later on.
But for now, he had to find his partner.

Apple Bloom blinked when she heard her name called to dance with one of the Erotes. Well, how 'bout them apples? She grinned and stepped forward, feeling just a little silly as she smoothed her hands over the skirt of her dress. She wasn't used to wearing frilly stuff like this, but once she saw the apples on it, she thought it was perfect and some previously buried girly part of her just had to have it. So now it was part of her wardrobe. Not that it was likely to be worn again much after tonight.
Anyway! She gave her dance partner what she hoped was a charming smile and held her hand out to him. "Hi, I'm Apple Bloom!" she said cheerfully. It was still strange to her how much closer she sounded to Apple Jack now that she was all grown up. So. Their first dance was a waltz. It didn't sound too hard... She just hoped she didn't step on his toes too much.

Oh not another dance.... Mother... whhhyyyyyyy!
Pothos sighed, running his fingers through his curly black fro as he listened to the couples being announced. Though he knew it was coming, he couldn't help but flinch when he heard his name called along side someone named... Applebloom. Trying to hide didn't work out so well for him last time.... and praise the heavens please let that crazy rainbow fae be far far far away from here....
Drat, already spotted. So this was Applebloom....she looked cute enough. What with that big adorable bow and wide eyes and flat hooves.... hooves... Oh not more faun! Fidgeting, he gave her his best smile, or an awkward version of one, and reached out his hands to take hers. "Hello.. Applebloom...I'm..uh... Po-thos?" he gulped, tilting his head and unintentionally spacing out his name as he stared hard at his feet and attempted to do the waltz. She wasn't quite stepping on his toes but... well... her hooves didn't quite seem made for dancing yet....
Maybe if he just... looked at the floor... it would all go away...

Kratos glanced around, eyes narrowed as the grumpy midnight looking demon crossed his arms, flicked his tails and clamped his wings to his back. Someone remind him why he decided this would be a good fun idea to do? Oh right... chicks.
And by the looks of it, boy did he get paired with a rather nice chick. A bit pink but at least it was a nice soft pinkish red. And them curls, those blond curls, oooww! She was a looker, .....and nothing like that snake b***h he had been stuck on the mountain with, eesh. Oh well, time to put on the moves!
"So, Aglaia was it?" he said and smirked, trying to be cool while doing this.... wait... wtf even was a waltz? wtf is this? FEET STOP BEING STUPID. Oh what the hell, whose bright idea was this again.....

Zest was not exactly good at dancing, although it wasn't as if she was bad at it either. She just had never tried it, but the idea of it sounded fun. And it was a competition, who didn't love a bit of competition... even if they had no knowledge on the subject what-so-ever. With any luck, if she was chosen, she might have a partner who knew more about the subject and could teach her. Yes, that would be fun. She stared at the lineup of gods and goddesses, another thing she was unfamiliar with. Zest's wings fluttered in anticipation, but she didn't have to wait long, she was in the second pair called out! Hey eyes shot open in surprise, wow of all the pae here! If this was a sign of her luck to come, then things were going good. Her eyes focused back on the line of gods, to see if any had reacted to their name being called. Then she might know who she was supposed to dance with! Himeros... The green goddess was as poised and stoic as ever as she watched the group of mortals waiting for their names to be called. Here she was again, the one night where she would socialize with them at the bequest of her mother. Last year's event had proven to be most educational. Kleta would likely never forget his name, Pelagious, he had been a queer sort of fellow, with his talk of chicken dances and rubber chickens. Kleta shook her head at the thought, although her expression remained quite the same. At last her name was called out and attached to the name Terzjian. Another foreign name, Kleta wondered if her mother had even pronounced it right, she would have to clarify. As mortals started to wander towards them seeking their partners, Kleta looked amongst them. "Terzjian... Terzjian." She spoke plainly looking for the owner of the name. She smiled a sweet relief at the announcement of the waltz, one of Kleta's better dances since it was so formal. They should at least make it through this first round then, as long as this one did not make make a mockery out of her like last time. Kleta was certain they had been kept in the competition for comic relief.

Hiroki was oblivious to the fact that the Phaenna did not want to be there, nor even WANT to dance, he'd not attended the previous years' festivities and didn't know the wrath that could incur from Phaenna's mother. He smiled as he took her hand and led her into the dance. It became quickly obvious he didn't know the waltz though he was watching around himself to the other dancers and was trying to imitate them. He had a bit of a grin on his face he was enjoying himself even if he sucked at the dance.

This event scared the poor Goddess of Beauty. It was almost exactly one year ago that she had her unfortunate collision with Eris, Goddess of Discord. She timidly approached the dance hall, twisting her hands and looking around at every slight noise, paranoid that Eris was lurking somewhere. "Be strong, you are my daughter, and the Goddess of Beauty," her mother had told her many times during her rehabilitation, "You have nothing to fear, my dear. Get out there and show them what the real Grace of Beauty is like."
It was easier said than done. Although her strength and confidence had grown over the year, she wasn't fully healed. It was discovered that she too had been brainwashed like Pothos, a year before her sisters and brothers had been. She wondered why no one noticed that she had not been behaving like herself. A Grace that doesn't know how to dance? That should have been the first red light.
Checking on her still-small pink wings, self-conscious that everyone would stare at them and laugh at her for what happened last year, she gently tucked them down against her back and waited for the announcement of who she'd be dancing with this year.
Aglaia and Kratos
She stood, looking around for the pae who'd respond to the name. Oh! A lovely dark and cosmic-looking guy. He was very handsome. She curtsied when he addressed, then rose and smiled. "Yes, Aglaia. I am pleased to be your partner today."
It may have sounded a little scripted, because it was. She'd practice what she'd say in front of a mirror because she wanted to make sure to make a good impression and not remind everyone of her embarrassing actions of the past.

It had been the best year of her life, next to the first year after their marriage. They'd spent far too long apart because of Eros' meddling mother. But this year was different. Psyche, while still not exactly on Venus' good side, was able to exist under her radar for the most part. Venus was, for good reason, busy this year.
It was exciting to dance this year. Judging last year, alongside Venus, and watching her beloved dance with another was heartbreaking. The obvious show of displeasure towards his mother however, had been humorous. She felt a little bad for his faerie dance partner, even if they won.
There he moved, so gracefully, towards her. She felt her heart flutter when he offered her hand a gentle kiss. "Of course, my handsome husband." She smiled and glided across the dance floor with Eros. The Waltz was a perfect dance for the pair to start off.

*********************
Voluptas had been thrilled when her grandmother asked her if she wanted to be one of the judges to Dancing with the Erotes. Of course she did!
She would never reject something that sounded so fun.
After being separated from her parents so long, stuck in a labyrinth and possessed by Eris, well, Voluptas was eager to do anything involving Valentine's Day that didn't include her being possessed and attacking people. This year had been a great one for her, finally reunited with her family, who seemed to have only become reunited in their marriage themselves. It was perfect timing, was it not?
The longer she sat there watching these dancers, though, the more she wished Venus hadn't made that offer at all. Maybe she just wanted someone in her family line to suffer how absolutely boring some of these dancers were ]for her. Seriously? The waltz? It was kind of a boring, plain dance, and the Graces were capable of so much better. Even the Erotes she would expect more from!
Somehow, though, they were all failing miserably.
Her parents, Psyche and Eros, naturally did great, and she cheered loudly for them, throwing up a score of "8" after their dance. It was certainly not flawless--she saw the way her father had stumbled, after all--but they had put forth a great effort that made her grin. It was just fun to watch!
Too bad the same could not be said for Himeros and Zest. She was pretty sure her uncle was too busy dealing with his fawning audience to actually get any kind of dance he was doing right. She felt a bit bad for his partner--she saw him stroll in and kiss other people! How rude. Voluptas felt completely justified in giving them a score of 1... even if she could agree there was a lot of attractive mortals in the room...
The next dance was a little better, though it seemed to once again suffer the presence of one of her uncles. Pothos had always been incredibly awkward, and the Waltz seemed to be no exception. As much as he bumbled in his speech, he bumbled on the dance floor. 2. Next!
Hedylogos was actually going to dance for them? Voluptas had to see if his charm translated to his feet! He seemed to have gotten swept away by the mortals recently--maybe he had learned how to dance like them in the process? That seemed to be a no, unfortunately, though he far was less bumbling than Pothos. Parvana, his partner, seemed to give him a boost, too. Still, she felt she couldn't give them any more than a 3.
Now the god of marriage and his faerie partner seemed to know what they were doing! Excited, Voluptas watched their dance carefully, watching like a hawk for anything that may have gone miserably wrong. She didn't see it, but at the same time, she didn't feel any of that wow factor. Their dance needed something, but they just hadn't done it. It was better than most of the dancers so far, though, so she gave them a 7.
Ah, Iordanes! One of Voluptas' favorite uncles because he didn't seem to let anything bother him terribly much... His partner, Minuette, seemed to be more confused by his appearance than actually dancing with him. Hrrumph. Voluptas didn't have to stand for this staring! She gave a 2 to the couple out of indigence.
Finally, the Graces! Surely they could dance better -- augh, that was terrible! What was Aglaia doing? Hadn't Venus taught her better than this in the last year? She was a Grace! She should be able to make any terrible dancing, even by a mortal--who, by the way, was dancing terribly--look amazing. And she didn't. 1. That was the only thing they deserved! It was too bad she couldn't give a zero score...
Euphrosyne and Lucius wasn't much better. It was just ... meh. She didn't see any reason to think any good of it, especially since Euphrosyne was a Grace! She should have been dancing amazingly. This was the waltz. Plainest of the plain. 2. Next!
What was with her aunts tonight? Thalia was not doing terribly well with her partner Hjortur, either. Had their drinks been spiked? It seemed they were distracted by some prior recognization that Voluptas didn't care about. This was the dance floor! Save it for later! Ugh. 2. It at least wasn't as bad as Aglaia over there...
Kleta was dancing a little better than her Athens Grace siblings, surprisingly enough. It still wasn't quite up to Voluptas' obscenely high standards of Grace dance, though, and that mortal seemed to be dragging her down quite a bit. She'd give them a 3, she guessed. Nothing to write home about. It was at least better than the horrible mess the other Graces were calling dancing--wait, Phaenna?!
Phaenna and Hiroki had just danced the Waltz of the Gods. It was amazing. After all those horrible performances, it almost brought tears to her eyes.
"Ten!" she screamed, standing up and applauding. "Bravo, bravo!!"
