Melvin continued to look a bit sad at the reminder that people he knew might and were mostly likely to die at any point of his life.
"Try harder." He whispered, as if this didn't dawn on Jordan and he had just been slacking so far with his general welfare. "I just got you as a friend. I can't loose you."

The faint amusement turned into a moment of surprise, and then Jordan smiled, a quiet, genuine smile that not many people got to see often. "Thanks, man," he said. "I'll be careful."

He smiled in return, relieved that he seemed to make his point. Rising, he patted Jordan on the head. "Good boy." Then he went over to retrieve his overly-sweet drink.
"I'll leave you to work. I'm sure you are very very busy and I think this drink is making me sick." He said in a rather unusually perky voice, but then again, there was a lot of unusual coming from Melvin's mouth today.
"Take care." He said as he headed out. "Oh, and tell Rep and Harrison not to die or get in trouble either. Seriously. I can't be wiping down pods for weeks. It drains me."

"I'll do that." Jordan carefully didn't laugh until Melvin had been gone for a while. Even then, he did so quietly. That had been strange, but enlightening in some ways.
