Illyria heard the orders that Daenerys had issued at first and swallowed hard. Had she read the signs wrong of the tension between brother and sister? Illyria wasn't sure. However all that changed with the next edict that Daenerys issued to Roarke to drive Viserys away from the herd. The mare watched in silence as Viserys first ran off before taking to the air. Was that it then? Was he officially gone?
Illyria couldn't stop a small feeling of satisfaction from coursing through her before she groaned softly. Now that the fight had dissipated so too did her level of adrenaline. Illyria could feel her damaged wing throbbing in time with each beat of her heart and she slowly unfurled the wing and gave a sharp sound of dismay and pain intermingled. About halfway down the length of the immense her wing bent down at the strangest angle. When Illyria tried to extend the wing to its full span she found that the limb wouldn't obey. She turned to see Daenerys standing nearby as a flash of panic washed over her. Would she too be driven off from the herd?

Viserys was leaving now, flying away. He lifted up too far too fast for Roarke to strike him down again. Daenerys glanced sideways when she heard a cry of pain, and her stomach twisted when she saw why. Illyria was trying to move her wings but the broken one wouldn't obey, half of it dangling. Her fire burned hotter. She could almost feel her rage rising off of her, like the smoke that billowed from Drogon's mouth as he circled.
Roarke couldn't fly, but Drogon could.
"Drogon!" Drogon screamed in response, his anger mirroring her own. "Dracarys!" Dracarys was the word for dragonfire in the language of Daenerys' ancestors and she had trained her dragons to breathe flame upon that command. Though she specified no target, Drogon understood immediately. He streaked after Viserys, blowing lances of flame at her fleeing brother.

In the air, Viserys lifted his head over his shoulder to see Drogon gaining on him. The dragon seemed small while on the ground, but when uncoiled and in the air Drogon took on massive proportions. He wasn't as long as Viserys or with as wide a wingspan, but he was far bigger than Viserys ever would have expected, and faster too. He gained steadily, soon taking a position above Viserys with the sun blazing behind him. Roaring in the bright sunlight, Drogon rained fire down upon the fleeing prince.
Viserys screamed as his hair caught fire and shrieked even louder when it smoldered down to his flesh. He tumbled from the sky, landing in a heap on the ground with Drogon fast behind him. Though Viserys burned, nothing was broken. In a way, he was still more fortunate than the mare he had attacked.

It looked like her position in the Khalasar was still safe if this display of sibling anger was any indication to go by. Illyria had no qualms about the treatment that Viserys was receiving at the hands of Daenerys' dragon Drogon. The mare felt like the stallion needed harrying. With an awkward move Illyria brought her injured wing close to her body once again.
Time would be the greatest healer but Viserys had done her a great injustice in taking away her ability to fly. Her past so far had not been able to find her yet but could it be just a matter of time. Illyria turned her gaze to Daenerys before grimacing. Her voice was soft and there was a sense of pain to her words, "I do thank you for your assistance. I am also sorry."

Daenerys' eyes didn't leave Viserys until he disappeared into the distance, his screams fading slowly away. "No, I am sorry." Finally she tore her eyes away, looking back fiercely at her injured follower. "I should have turned him away the moment I saw him." If she had not been feeling so emotionally weakened by death and despair then maybe she could have found the strength to cast Viserys out at that first reuniting. She had thought that her weakness would only harm herself, but it was Illyria that suffered the most.
In the distance, Drogon was returning. This was the first time that Daenerys had ever turned her dragons against another soquili. In the tales they were beasts of war, set loose upon the enemies of her family and their people. Drogon seemed intent on living up to that expectation.
"It was a mistake," said Daenerys, stern and unforgiving. "But it will not happen again." Never again would she let her heart's weakness bring danger to her herd. Never again would she let whatever family she had left harm her or those in her care. She was Daenerys, mother of dragons, and her children were growing stronger every day.
