Otto was fully ignored by this point.

"Hey...it's okay." The Patchwork tried to sound soothing, reaching out to place a twisted hand on the demon's arm. "It's only twenty minutes. You've waited this long...what's another little bit?" Amrita was not eager to see her recently acquired friend get weaponized, either. Twenty minutes wasn't enough, but it was better than now. "We could have Otto take us on a tour, maybe?" Since Otto was so close she didn't want to outright ask to meet their friends, but...well, that was her intention.

The door opened again, proving whomever was inside had actually been listening to them the entire time.

"Okay," said the figure in the cloak agreeably, "you can come in now. We are ready to consult the darkness regarding your future. Mind the candles."

The weaponization room, or chamber in which there should have been weaponizing going on, had the entire floor covered in wax scented candles. It was still absolutely dark, other than the candles lighting up random places, such as the panel in which weaponization should have been going on but instead was covered in divination baubles and cards.

One of the cloaked figures was holding a tambourine and for some reason was shaking it loudly. Archaic gregorian chanting music was playing in the background, as the background figure mumbled loudly in possibly Latin about darkness and clouds perhaps, seeing how limited Latin actually was in vocabulary.

"We are ready to receive," said the figure taller than Otto, "come forward, and accept your fate, chosen ones!" The tambourine shook a little louder.

"No!" they squeaked, absolutely indignant. "I am here, and it is so close--"

The door opened, and Aleria eyeballed the tiny boil with a new-found suspicion. But the door was clear, so the demon took a deep breath and stepped inside.

There was a lot of ceremony about this, which was unexpected. "It is only me," the demon explained, awkwardly ducking to enter, looking around with a cross between scepticism and renewed wide-eyed excitement.

"I'm ready," they said, and came forward, to wherever indicated, because yes.

Oh good, they opened the door. Otto really loathed the idea of having to babysit them both for an additional twenty minutes. The teen stepped in, arms crossed as his patience was wearing thin. The room, the people, it was all weird and unnerving. Mark level... or Allen level dumb.

He huffed at their antics, his face twisting in impatience.

...Candles?!

A low, unhappy whine sounded from Amrita's general direction as she followed the pair into the dark room, trying to take up as little space as possible in case the Candles of Hell were too close. Damn Hunters. Damn fire. Damn Otto. This was all his fault.

"I am not being weaponized." The patchwork insisted loudly, in time to Aleria's insistence that it was only them. Aleria went to step forward, and her tone suddenly changed. "Wait!" She cried out, desperate for these last few seconds. She didn't know how fast this was going to be, or if she'd get the chance to say anything again, so to her it was now or never.

"I don't know if I'll get the chance to say this, but - Aleria. I'm glad I met you, and I'm sorry about all this..." Fully ignoring the hunters now, the undead carefully navigated as far from the candles as she could get in order to put herself close enough to the Demon to give a tight hug. Lately she greatly disliked all forms of contact, but she couldn't let the opportunity pass her by.

"But I really hope you find what you're hoping for...and for what it's worth? I'll really miss you." She fought to keep her voice steady and her limbs from shaking, and after a moment stepped back, to let them do as they wished.

They just stood there and continued chanting.

Otto groaned.

He walked to the panels, shoving aside anything cult-looking in favour of flipping through the handy manual that seemed to be there as a make shift coaster. These people were nuts, and wouldn't help. Sam was dead. He'd have to do this solo. For the first time ******** over instructions with a strained expression, while hiding the nervous heartbeat in his chest, he waved Aleria to stand in the thing. Yeah, that thing. That thing over there. Just shove the blanket out of there with your foot. He didn't care there was a tray of cookies on it, just do it!

With what he hoped was the right buttons and controls, he tried to start the transformation on his own.

Amrita's woeful goodbye was given a subtle eye roll from Otto beneath his bangs.

The machine, being Caelius proof, was used to starting up with a button touch, running through the systematic checks and reassurances that s**t was not going to explode. All the screens lit up at once, the dark aura of the room and candles interrupted with a bright blue glow, and and even brighter glow as the room lights finally turned on, humming loudly.

"What have you done!" Screeched the person shorter than Otto, running over to try and figure out what was going on and pressing every single button in attempts to abort. Since it was Caelius proof, absolutely nothing happened, otherwise half the students/ Halloween creatures would have just exploded or Deus would have exploded at this point.

"Weaponization in ten seconds," said a voice that sounded like a deceased Life Assistant, "Please insert the specimen into the conversion chamber and close all doors securely. Make sure all hands and feet and limbs are inside the compound at all times."

The screen closest to Otto was now a handy wizard, not the magical type, the navigation type that currently read as followed.

I see you are trying to weaponize someone! Would you like to follow these handy instructions?

[ YES ] [ NO ]

The button pressing done by both cloaked figures didn't help at all and at some point they retreated back to under the seance table, whimpering because the light was just too bright. There was for some reason a large dog basket, one covered in dog biscuits and Fear candies under the table as well.

Though his violet-polished nails were not dry and his mouth was full of half-eaten dog-spookies, Thackery rapidly excused himself from being adored by the HAMS club. There was an urgent matter to attend to, because there were familiar voices and faces and he had not yet properly greeted them, which would just not be okay.

"AAAAMMFEENNAAA!" he cried, flinging his arms in the air. It looked as if he would shed the blanket he had wrapped around him, but as most of it fell towards the ground, it showed that it was actually a blanket tied into a 'cloak'. Not very kingly, but they'd tried.

He hopped up and down in front of Amrita, tail rapidly wagging, temporarily oblivious to what was happening.

Aleria jolted, waiting and turning to face the other ghoul, warmth filling their core as she expressed her concerns. Their vines, normally so quiet, began to stir at all of the commotion. They knew that change was on the horizon, and the demon wondered if they would get to keep their mental presence. (They hungered.)

Holding her closely, Aleria found that their cheeks had grown damp. No one had ever given them this sort of attention, and it felt like the warm up for the future. "Thank you," they murmured, and the hug had to be more to Amrita than the simple loss of an almost-stranger. She seemed to be at war with herself, and with the kindness of the hunters, and Aleria hoped that they would be able to one day change her mind. "Perhaps one day you can join me," they said, smiling sadly. "But I know that is not what you desire right now. Please don't feel bad. My mind has been made up for a long time, I just didn't know how I wanted it done until now."

A new start. A fresh beginning.

The machine began to speak. They assumed that they were, indeed, the specimen, and with a steady hand, pulled away from Amrita, face still wet from tears. "I hope to meet you again, under pleasant circumstances. I'm sure I'll remember you, so don't fret--"

The demon blinked, was that, "Oh, hello Thackery! Lovely to see you again, but I am afraid I have to go now. You take care, okay? Be good!"

They wandered towards Otto, and cleared their throat.

"What do I get into?"

"AWWWEMIA!" came a second jovial cry, before Thackery finally decided to swallow the food in his mouth. "Oh! Oh, where are you going? That sounds fun!"

The lights scattered the cockroaches, much to Otto's delight. Even if they did button mash like scared animals, it seemed to be okay. Mentally thanking the Gods for it being idiot proof, Otto went through the prompts step by step, blue eyes staring hard at each one.

"Through there, Aleria. The big open tube thing." He gestured, thoroughly ignoring the sudden dog yipping at Amrita. His give a ******** broke somewhere during the day. "Just stay still in there. Still and calm. Lemme know when you're ready."

Actually, he felt kind of cool and important behind this console.

They turned back to Thackery, just for a moment. "I'm going to join the hunters. Don't worry, I'll be back soon enough!" Aleria waved, stepping into the tube, holding still.

"I just need one moment, please," a brushing of clothes, to make sure everything was dusted off and without any undue wrinkles. "There."

Finally. All the fuss and distractions aside, Aleria was in the tube and ready to go. Lucky for him, she was very very willing and excited to do this, otherwise this might have been difficult. "A'ight. Starting it up." His bright blue gaze fixed onto the console, re-reading the question to be sure he was doing this right.

Otto pushed the [YES] button.

Amrita made the most horrified nope face ever made to date. There was no way she was going to join Aleria in weaponizing. Never. Never ever. Thankfully, The demon couldn't see her made such a probably offensive expression. It melted away pretty quickly after that, especially as the seriousness of the situation came back to her, reminding her yet again that she was about to lose someone to the enemy. Aleria pulled away, and Amrita wished she were able to cry for her friend.

"Remember, you promised." She murmured then, sadly letting go of the Demon and stepping back, only to be accosted by a very familiar form sputtering cookies at her...which was sadly also very familiar.

It all happened so fast, and in her attempt to backpedal from the stanger she managed to knock over a floor candle with her toes. Thankfully, she didn't notice. "---THACKERY?!" Amrita sputtered in surprise, eye wide and mouth gaping. Unholy Jack today was too fully of surprises! Her poor, non-existent heart couldn't handle much more than this!

"THIS is where you---OH NO YOU DON'T-" Good feelings were gone when he said weaponizing looked like fun, and the patchwork instantly reached out to encase Thackery in a viciously tight hug, if only to prevent him from going anywhere near the chambers.

Though as she looked around Tack to see Aleria straightening their clothes, the hug became more of a necessity for her own mental well being.
