Reoakee Mella was charmed by the little sailscale. Perhaps someday Mella might be lucky enough to have something so close to her as Iniu clearly was to Kiyelt. “Yes you are lucky and so is she to be so well taken care of.” Looking around she realized how late it was getting. Time had certainly been on a trip while she had been talking to Kiyelt. Nodding she decided to ask a question because she hadn’t found a place to sleep herself. “May I join you here for the night?” She figured it was safer here than out in the middle of nowhere in the dark.

"Of course, but I must warn you....I snore." He grinned unrepentantly. "It disturbs many but apparently keeps beasts away." He laughed. "Well along with the fire of course. Do you have a blanket?" He asked. He only had one but he was from Zena, puny cold bothered them less. Iniu meanwhile curled up on his chest so he had to lean back on his hands or unsettle her.

She smiled at his comment. “That is fine my father could wake a drunk out of a stupor.” She riffled through her pack. “I have this.” She held up a small blanket but wasn’t sure it would be warm enough. She would have to sleep close to the fire or have something warm to cuddle up with. She was a bit envious of Kiyelt for having the sailscale to help keep him warm.

"Hmm Iniu, sleep with the lady, and keep bad dreams away. I warn you..she snuggles. I don't know if she snores or not so good luck." he smiled and laughed a bit.
"After her I would recommend sailscales to any who like animals, they are fantastic companions and she is smart." She was his pride and joy.
He curled up in a ball and shooed his sailscale back over after giving her a good stroking.

She gave a small gasp about having the little angel sleeping next to her. She was going to ask if it was alright when he nudged her toward Mella. Smiling she cooed at the sailscale and rubbed her gently. “I think snuggling up with her would be wonderful!” She beamed at Kiyelt and nodded. He was good with animal and good with people it seemed. He was thoughtful and kind. She was very glad his parents sent him out into the world so she could meet and get to know him. “Thank you Kiyelt.” It was strange to think of a stranger as a friend but perhaps Kiyelt was already her friend. It felt like it.

"Its not a problem, with a war coming we would all do well to look out for each other. We are after all powerful together. Hence the phrase divide and conquer. I don't want to be conquered and you deserve something warm to snuggle, since I don't have a spare blanket for you." He laid his head back for a minute then raised it again. "What is your favorite thing to paint?"

A small worried frown creased Mella’s face for a moment before clearing. War that bothered her. Still it was nice to offer the sailscale for a sleep partner. “Thank you Kiyelt.” She snuggled the little ball of scales close to her thinking about his next question. It was a tough one. “Well I haven’t seen too much of the world yet. So I don’t know what all is in it. Still my favorite things to pain would likely be plants and the animals in a landscape. People are fun to paint, but I always feel like something is off… though that’s likely due to my lack of skill.”

"I think people would be complicated. I bet you have found some fantastic plants in your travels, have you thought about doing illustrations for healing plants and listing their properties? Or are you out for the simple joy of it?" It was so fascinating talking to her, she was so different. He decided it was very cool to know an artist. Iniu purred happily in Mella's arms.

People were complicated and not just painting them. She smiled at him. She had never thought of doing a book before. “I could try to do something like that but I would have to take it with me everywhere I went and would have to make copies at each place I stopped. It would be very hard to do and I don’t know enough about the plants to make any notations on them if they can be used. For all I know what I might be painting could be poisonous. So I’d also have to get each thing checked over by an herbalist or a healer. Not to mention the difficulty of transporting all those finished images around with me.” She shook her head and pointed to her pack. “I know this seems bulky but this is me traveling light. I carry a few small jars, sewn skins for powder and tanned hides to work on. I can carry parchment too but it doesn’t weather as nice.” She was going to go on more but a yawn decided it was a good time to come out. “Sorry about that.” Blinking she snuggled Inui close and laid down. She was half asleep already. Tugging her blanket around her with the sailscale close she was half awake but still ready to talk about painting if Kiyelt wanted. It was one of her favorite topics.

He smiled as she tried to keep herself awake to keep talking. The poor thing looked about ready to pass right out. "So you mostly gather paint as you go then?" That was an interesting way to go about art. That way most of what you painted came from the land you saw it in. It seemed more connected then collecting all your supplies in one place and dragging them with you.

Reoakee “For the most part. In the skins I carry dry powder that I add water to make paint. It’s lilies.” The green lilies where so useful and if she was in a pinch she could eat the powder. “so I do carry some with me always just in case the spot I pick is far from useful plants.” Her voice was getting softer as she drifted off to sleep. She did try to say a few other things but at a certain point it was just mumbling incoherently while she succumbed to sleep.

"Well you are always prepared then and using the stuff around you is kind of profound in way.. " he trailed of once he noticed she was asleep, and so was his sailscale. He prodded at the fire, put another two logs and and rolled himself up like a burrito in his blanket. There may or may not be time for chat in the morning. In any case he would have to do a sailscale extraction. He smiled to himself. All is well in good company.
