The crimson hair male known as Homura's, turned from left to right as if having a horrid dream, as he awoke from his nap, almost sounding out of breath, he would then looketowards his comrades with a slight disinterest at the task at hand, his amber hues seemed to be thinking of what course of action would happen next. Although he had been asleep, he had been listening to the entire conversation, as Homura stood up, his lower legs made a brief popping noise as the joints began to move in proper rotation between his knee caps. Homura would then stretch his arms from left to right, The male would then begin to take several steps forward towards Audrianna, as he took the drink from her hands, he took in a deep breath as he inhaled the smoke it filled his lungs, before taking a drink as the strange concoction, It had a strange taste as it went down his lungs, the male would then return the drink to its rightful owner, before taking several steps towards the group before speaking. "So are we ready to move?" He asked with a bored expression on his face.

Ignazio walked over to his backpack that was laying in the grass not too far from the barrier and then opened it before grabbing a his leg holster of throwing knives and attached it. There only five on this holster that he attached to his left thigh; opposite of his tarot cards on his right thigh. Ignazio stood up and fixed his blazer and rubbed his hands together to conserve the heat in his body. Then made his way to the barrier ”I’m going in, let’s test your antidote out.” he said as he placed his right and left hand on to the barrier wall and then his body passed through the barrier as if he was being pulled in by a magnetic force. Once he entered the barrier the sounds from the outside were gone, the sound of the wind blowing was non-existent here. He turned around slightly as he checked the area. It was defiantly darker than he thought. The moonlight barely passed through the barrier. The barrier was created to keep everything inside in and everything outside out. Ignazio fixed his rings on his right hand and then looked up at the trees before looking forward once again; reaching his right hand into his jacket he retrieved the map and slowly opened it as his body was getting use to the constant tropical climate that was within the barrier. The Forest of Screams…it was not the best place to select for a vacation or an exam, why couldn’t it just be a tournament or something or an actual written exam for once.

Ignazio held his left hand over the map a glyph of golden energy appeared in front of his palm and within the center of the glyph was a small light, enough for him to see the map. Looking up from the map he turned and extended his hand out using the light to see a little further into the abyss. ”So there are caves deeper in the forest and the lake is east of the entrance. So it’ll take us about thirty minutes if we walk, but we should avoid this area and circle around due to the quicksand.” he muttered as he looked at the map and then in the direction they needed to travel.

Ignazio closed his palm and then the light vanished. He stood in the dim light of the moon and waited for the others to enter.

The Headmaster had better been lucky that he had such a talent for sensing out people due to his ability to locate and dispatch targets swiftly and silent. Otherwise known as Assassination. It came in many form and this was just one of them. He would take his time getting there as he walked, carrying the heavy Salvacion on his back with his right arm swung over his shoulder. It was tied up and covered with a strap and by that very strap it was carried. The area up ahead lead to the place in which he felt the most signatures as well as where the barrier had been unlocked. Inside of the barrier there was a thick miasma and all sorts of demons running about, but for the barrier to have been unlocked by mere students, that was a feat. They weren't just your average Exorcists. "Maybe there chances of surviving past that number is high. Maybe I underestimated them." He said to himself before he looked down at Reznya who probably wasn't paying him much attention anyway. He hated being wrong but accepted it when he was. Tavion remembered why the barrier was so easy to unlock in the first place. The exam. He had really been put under by Sion and forgot about all of today's events. He had finally reached the signatures and bodies that he recognized up ahead as his students were visable to which he knelt down and place his hand on to Reznya to stop. He would see what they would would do but of course they were going to go in. Tavion most likely would not be able to follow, not having an antidote to the miasma nor being able to phase himself through the barrier. If so, he would just wait for their return and if by sundown they weren't back, he was going in...

REZNYA
The Hell Hound

User Image

Upon close approach to the target location, Reznya had commanded a small breeze of winds to hold her chains as to not cause any noise. They were going in with the stealth approach so the rattling of her chains would not benefit them automatically giving away their position. With each second of approach Reznya began to identify the scents outside the barrier. They were students of the Academy and as such she had once or twice come into contact with them. Thus she could identify each scent accordingly. A handy bit of information since she was still on the war path to punish all who disturbed her peace. Yes, Reznya could of been continuing her lounging about in the office uncaring of the world, but no she was at the Forest of Screams observing children. Not an exciting moment in the canines books. Along with the scent of the pesty children were the scents of demons who lurked inside the barrier. But was that all, not even close. Stronger scents erupted forth, some sweet and some bitter. In all not worth a good sniff if she knew better. Which she did.

Reznya was ready to go forth and give some loving nips to the annoying students but was stopped when a force was placed upon her head. Looking up towards the hand she offered back a low grunt signalling she wasn't happy. But if she was told to wait she would. Not like she really wanted to follow anyways. Annoyed glares could always be given upon their return, should they return. In all honesty Reznya could follow them inside, her only draw back being getting inside the barrier in the first place. The miasma was no trouble, Reznya could simply bend the wind around her stopping the miasma from ever reaching her in the first place. But what did that matter anyways, she didn't have to go in as of currently and quiet possibly wouldn't have to. She was hoping for the wouldn't have to. Would be so much trouble to go and have to help the students who she didn't totally care for anyways.

Taking a step back Reznya shifted her position by moving to stand behind the Headmaster, her body nearly invisible as she remained in the shadows blending in. Only her piercing yellow eyes broke through the darkness, eerily trained upon the moving figures of the students entering through the barrier. Whatever the motive was Reznya thought it to be stupid. Thus since the motive was stupid so were the students. Having been signaled to wait Reznya took the time to mesh her clawed toes into the ground before plopping down in place. She'd wait until given an order.

There antidote had been finished and as it was, he moved closer to Audrianna in order to hear what she had to say about it. As it began making its way through the group, Lloyd took hold of the bowel from Victor before inhaling the steam for a moment, and then, almost as though he viewed it as training, took two sips before returning the bowel. It tasted rather odd, and at the moment, the aftertaste was even weirder for him. But, it would undoubtedly protect and safeguard his life from the miasma, so for that, he was thankful. They were after an item, hidden by a barrier, protected by a lake that only pure maidens could physically touch. Homura had also finally returned, not giving Lloyd a chance to go and wake him, and was demanding to know when they'd be leaving. Shortly after, Ignazio entered the barrier in order to see if the antidote had truly worked. When the male had not collapsed due to the miasma within the barrier, he extended his hand towards the barrier before passing through it completely. After getting a good look at the map before Ignazio's light faded, he turned back to face the others. With two of them within now, there was no need to fear the miasma since neither male had fallen ill, or worse. Moving closer to Ignazio, he released a soft whisper for only the male to hear. "I don't like this. Even with protection from the Miasma, something doesn't feel right. Those beasts we may encounter, neither of them are exactly welcoming, and if were taking something undoubtedly guarded by one if not both, its only going to get worse..."

[] ❧ Audrianna Hara Black ❧ []

"I am more than just a means to an end."

Audrianna let the group pass around the antidote as they saw fit. It was not her responsibility to make sure everyone took it, or even took it correctly. She explained the directions clearly, and those who did not understand would pay the price of having their lungs explode. She was not their to be her classmates mommy. Hell, she wasn't even there to be her classmates friend. She was there to achieve the goal that had been laid out for them so she could move up in the exorcist chain. Audrianna still wasn't sure if she even wanted to do that. She was being forced to move up in the program, with no family to fall back on for protection. She had thought about trying to go to Gehenna many times, but without an escort or any other form of protection, enemies of Anaimon would surely make a meal of her.

The young half-demon watched as Ignazio entered the barrier. She could not only hear the whole group hold their breath in anticipation, but she could feel it. They were worried that the miasma would kill Ignazio and the antidote would have no effect. Audrianna made the damn antidote, and she knew for a fact it would work. When living in the wilderness full of demonic wildlife, you pick up a few trades. It wasn't the first time Audri had encountered miasma, and it wouldn't be her last. It truly baffled the young half-demon how careful and worrisome these Exwires were. As a Page she had more guts than all of them combined. She wasn't saying for them to charge into a dangerous situation recklessly, but they could at least trust their classmates enough not to kill them. Audrianna rolled her eyes and let out a grunt as Ignazio had finished entering the barrier. She didn't look at the group behind her, but she reached into her pockets to feel the flashlights as she marched towards the barrier herself. She began to speak under her breath, but it was audible enough for the group to hear. "Untrustworthy, ungrateful, lousy bunch of scaredy cats." Audrianna then spoke a little louder as she passed Nymeria (who stood up beside Audri to follow) before entering the barrier. "Grow a pair and let's get moving."

Audrianna entered the barrier quickly, not moving slowly or with hesitation. She had enough sense to trust her classmates abilities to do what they said they would do. She had her hands in her pockets, and her head down on the way inside the area. Nymeria walked slowly beside her, flashlight still being carried in her mouth. Hopefully they would be able to place them soon, so Nymeria could have freedom over her jaw once more. When they entered the barrier, everything seemed to fall still. The wind was no longer blowing, the snow was no longer falling or on the ground, and the sound of the forest itself seemed to cease. There was nothing. The knowledge and sound of absolute nothing is what made Audrianna raise her head up to face the darkness in front of them. This is when Audri became very envious of Nymeria's night vision, and the only time she wished she had been born a demon wolf. "Nymeria, this dark is...overwhelming. And this silence...it's like we're in absolute nothing." Nymeria stood obviously close to her master, eyes darting back and forth once more. She too had felt the uneasiness of the area beyond the barrier. "We're not in nothingness. I can see a little ways ahead. We're definitely not alone, either. Though I doubt this makes you feel better..." Surprisingly enough, it did. Audrianna would rather be surrounded by enemies she couldn't see than stumbling through darkness alone. There was nothing scarier than the knowledge and existence of being truly alone.

Audrianna made her way closer to Ignazio as he examined the map. Lloyd was there, too, though she hadn't caught what he had said to Ignazio. She didn't pry or ponder, though. If Lloyd wanted it private, there was no need for her to dig any deeper on the matter. She peered down at Ignazio's map, glancing at it for only a moment. Her eyes then made their way up to is face, starring at his cheeks. "Where would you like the first flashlight placed? Normally, Audrianna wouldn't be following orders like this. If she was in a group, which was rare, she was normally bossy and rude trying to get all the work done as quickly and efficiently as possible. However, in this case, Ignazio had a better plan to approach this project, so she let him take over. Plus, his people skills were miles ahead of Audri's, and the Barthomeloi's social actions were still not the most appropriate. But, he was able to rally and get everyone motivated better than Audri could ever dream. Though Audrianna was definitely more rude and unwavering to ever give an apology.

Victor watched as the antidote went around and everyone rallied together. Ignazio had gone ahead to test out the antidote and scout the immediate area. Victor would wait for everyone to begin entering then looked to Alexandria before she entered. "Hey, be careful in there." He said softly, only meant for her to hear. Victor then removed his suit jacket and revealed the harness under neath completely packing his grenade set and a holster for his combat knife under his arm. He stretched his arms a bit, trying to warm himself up and adjusted his plated vest underneath his shirt. Then, not wasting anymore time, Victor entered and took a knee behind the rest. He looked around the forest and noticed the great change in temperature and it was also much darker. He put his folded suit jacket down by the entrance hoping he would be able to come back and retrieve it. He put his phone in his pocket and kept his beads on his wrist. With eyes pointed outwards, he scanned the depths of the forest, looking for any movement. He hadn't begun to light up the rear of the formation since they weren't yet ready to move but now and then, Victor would look up to the head of the formation at Ignazio awaiting the signal to begin moving again.

Alexandria had finished her stretches as the others began to pass the antidote around. However, as an observer to the actions of her team, conscious and subconscious, it didn't cease to amaze her the level of distrust that was exhibited through body language. And a certain and undeniable nervousness perhaps about the effectiveness of the antidote or perhaps its safety? Sure, she nor Audrianna tested the antidote on themselves prior to handing it out to their comrades- but the level of uneasiness as Ignazio entered the barrier was.. Unsettling.

After all the others had their chance to use the antidote Alexandria made her way to the thornless cactus. She picked it up from the ground, surprised to find the concoction was still warm to the touch and steam drifted from the opening as Alexandria removed the “lid”. Alexandria breathed the steam in, taking care to gently sniff as well; she didn't want to play games when it came to her health. Soon after she lifted the lip of the cactus to her pink lips to take a few sips. Despite what the others found to be a bitter taste; Alexandria found the concoction to be on the sweeter side for a root vegetable. Perhaps the books hadn't lied to her about this particular plant.

It would seem the fact Ignazio wasn't gagging for air or collapsing to the ground eased some of the nervousness in the air. Slowly the group began to make their way towards the barrier. Audrianna was notably unset, going on about everyone around her like they were dogs. ‘I guess you've forgotten we aren't the only things wandering that forest. And it sounds like one of them in particular I do not want to meet..’ Alexandria thought as she shook her head. Despite her instinct to run- there would be nowhere to run. It was a challenge they would have to figure out as a group and hope no one would get seriously injured. Hopefully, people would follow the plan and things would go smoothly.

Alexandria began to walk towards the barrier as those before her had; stopping as Victor spoke softly to her.
“This mission, we are as strong as our weakest member I think. Hopefully I won’t be the one to drag everyone down.” Alexandria said softly to him as she turned to face him for a moment, a warm smile lighting up her face. She didn't stand there long as this wasn't the time to talk. It was a time for action. The sooner they began to move the better. Passing through the barrier it was easy to see that it was considerably darker within, the barrier even blocking the light of the moon. The dim light cast great shadows, giving the already eerie forest an almost haunted look. It was also considerably warmer within the barrier, it was as if they had stepped into a humid summer dream. It would take some adjusting. Her skin tinged as it began to adjust, not far off from the strange burning feeling of rapidly alternating between heat and cold. Alexandria's olive gaze studied the surrounding briefly as she made her way towards the group; her right hand resting on Avarice’s hilt.

Ignazio turned and looked at Lloyd and gave a smile. ”Probably; and when I say probably I mean, we probably won’t die.” he said nonchalantly before laughing and started to walk as everyone else started to enter the barrier and into the forest itself. Ignazio was actually worried about the task they were going to face. A Behemoth would be a major problem on its own seeing how Fatal Verses were not effective against it and they are pretty fast, but a Hydra would be even harder for even a group of them to take on together. Not to mention there are different breeds of Hydra so there is no way to tell if the Hydra will be one of the lower levels or one of the upper levels until they faced it. As Audrianna approached and asked about the flashlights Ignazio looked around at the area and then pointed at a large tree close by. ”Find a location on that tree and turn it on and aim it towards the school so the light points in the direction of the Academy. Thirty-Two degree angle, that way we’ll see it on the path back and also be able to see the path towards the exit of the barrier.” Ignazio said as he stopped walking once he reached the tree the raised he left hand and a sphere of golden light appeared. It was dim but it was bright enough to light the general area around his body such as the trees, the rocks, and the snakes that were slithering out of the light. ”Oh look Naga.” he said slightly excited as he moved the light to follow the snakes.

As the light in Ignazio’s hand moved he saw a large lantern covered in moss and roots. Ignazio made his way forward towards the lantern and then began to investigate it. Soon after Ignazio looked around and found smaller lanterns attached to poles of some sort scattered across the ground. The poles seemed to have been broken, rather badly by a large amount of weight. Ignazio crotched down and investigated the area a little further. ”That’s interesting, although there are four small lanterns here, meaning we could use these and conserve Qi and save my flashlights from being lost in here. Although that leaves on thing left…” Ignazio muttered rather loudly as he turned and looked at the larger lantern. ”It’s a Peg Lantern. Luckily its not lit, a single flame will get that thing running for miles and we have two girls, so that’s not good…I guess they thought a bunch of amateurs would have lit this thing. Don’t underestimate us, Succubus.” he snarled proudly before grabbing one of the small lanterns from the ground and walking it over to Homura. ”Alright matches, you’re on light duty now. So if you wouldn’t mind holding this and lighting the way.” he said with a big smile on his face.

[] ❧ Audrianna Hara Black ❧ []

"I am more than just a means to an end."

Audrianna rolled her neck to the left and then to the right, making the most awful bone cracking sounds. She was loosening her neck, because she had been tense most of the day. Normal people's bones didn't crack like Audrianna's did, however, they didn't exactly have as rough as a life as she did. She doubt any of the nobles or the so called exwires in training had gone through half the stuff she had to. The only person here who probably understood her struggle was Homura. Although Ignazio seemed to have a rough life, he would always be accepted as a Barthomeloi. Most students either worshiped him or envied him. Students either hated Audri or were creeped out by her. That's how Audri liked it, though. With fear, there was power. It's always better to be feared than loved.

Audrianna reached down and grabbed the flashlight out of Nymeria's mouth. She could hear her demon companion sigh out of relief that the object was released from her massive jaws. It sure was a privilege to be able to have pockets. The flashlight was clean, though. Nymeria wasn't a drooler, so if she ever had to carry anything for Audri it stayed clean. She had been known to leave teeth imprints from her jaws, however. But with teeth that big, it was almost impossible not too. Audrianna looked on to the tree where Ignazio wanted her to place the flashlight. To regular students, it would be an intimidating tree to climb. However, Audri wasn't a regular student. She also wasn't afraid of her own shadow, like most of the students here seemed to be. "Nymeria it's honestly amazing how scared some of these Exwires are. There's going to be a Hydra. So what? Did they think they'd never face a powerful demon as an exorcist? 'Oh sweet lawd I'm an Exorcist and I have to fight things stronger then me ahhhh oh no, no one told me that part nnnggghhhh'" Audrianna tended to be sassy with Nymeria when she was feeling annoyed. Nymeria was a faithful demon companion, but she had to admit that she couldn't stand some students of the Cram school either. "Haha, you're right my lady. If none of these students are ever willing to fight something more powerful than themselves, then there is no point in being an exorcist. D-class demons come to Assiah, knowing there are Exwires yet still takes their chances." Audrianna looked away from the tree and down to Nymeria as she communicated to her "Nymeria, Page's can take out those demons you speak of. I don't think that's the best analogy." Nymeria starred back at Audri, with eyes serious and cold. "You face death everyday, especially as an Exorcist. You, Audri. You don't fear death. Until these students learn that a battle can result in the loss of their life, then they can never truly work as a team. No one here is willing to make the battlefield calls necessary to take out a Hydra because no one is willing to stick their neck out on the line." Nymeria's head then turned to look at Ignazio as she spoke the last part "Ignazio can make those calls, because he's wise and experienced. You, Audri, can do the actions necessary because you have never feared death. You've tried to welcome it before." Nymeria's head then turned to look at Homura briefly, before she looked back at Audri "Homura is reckless from what I can tell. However, that means he does not fear for his life either. I wouldn't put your life in the hands of anyone else, though. They'll protect their own skin before ever thinking about anyone else." Nymeria made an excellent observation and point. As an Exorcist, you are on the front line of battling demons. You are a solider. If you fear an enemy, no matter how powerful, you are not a true warrior. Fear is good in a sense to let you know what you are able to take on, but demons a rank lower than you aren't always going to pop out and be convenient. An exorcist had to be ready to attack any opponent, no matter how strong.

Audrianna gripped the flashlight tight as she starred at her target branch on the tree. She wouldn't need Nymeria to climb the tree, but considering everyone seemed to always be watching her and questioning her skills, she might as well utilize her companion to help hide her secret. Audrianna got on the back of Nymeria and she began to run forward towards the tree. She didn't stop, not even at the base of the tree. When she reached the tree, her claws merely came out and she ran up the towering oak. Her claws dug in deep, but her ascend up the tree looked effortless. Almost like how a spider could move from the floor and begin climbing the wall. After a good bit up into the tree, Nymeria turned and stopped on the branch where Audrianna was going to place the flashlight. She got off her wolf companion's back, turned on the flashlight, and set it up just as Ignazio had explained. Perfect angle and direction, everything. She got back onto her demon wolf and made the descend down the tree.

Once at the bottom, Audrianna hopped off her friend and caught up with Ignazio. She looked in front of him as he walked with his light source, and there was a huge amount Naga leading the way. She watched them very closely, and a few's eyes seemed to turn around and stare at her. Once they looked at her, some began to turn around and come to her. It wasn't very noticeable what they were doing, though. Audrianna stopped the action quickly. Her cold icy stare was enough to deter the snakes from continuing to come towards her, and they merely got back in formation. In the darkness of the barrier and not being in the light source directly, it wouldn't be easy to catch this glance from Audrianna. "Nymeria, what are the Naga doing leading us like this?" Nymeria walked beside Audrianna, taking slow steps considering she was large and even her normal pace would be faster than the group's. "These demons are controlled by your Father. It seems as though they want to help lead you. They know who you are. You can control them, too." Audrianna of course knew that the Naga were controlled by her father and that she could manipulate them, but she was curious as to their intentions. She understood the Naga wanting to help her, but her exorcist class? Audrianna almost wanted to dismiss the snakes so they wouldn't be harmed by the group, but that would look suspicious to everyone. Plus, it seemed as though Ignazio was using them and was delighted at their appearance. Oh well, she would just have to wait and see what they were planning.

The moon was gone at this point, time was moving by slowly as the group of young exorcist made there way through the forest. The appearance of the Naga scattering about was a warning sign to run. Along the grounds and the trees there was a larger snake keeping its distance. It looked almost like the naga did, but in the dark, all the larger snakes looked the same. This serpent in particular was different that the other demonic snakes that slithered through the trees and the mud; this was no ordinary demonic serpent, this was a Hydra. But not just any hydra, this was a youngling, one that was recently hatched who had yet to gain any of its other heads through the ripping of its body. The Hydra had one purpose and one purpose alone. It was promised something and told that these, Exorcist took it from it; this thing it was searching for was its heart, the one thing that could kill a Hydra was by severing its heart. The young anaconda looking snake made its way closer to the ground slithering around the tree tops looking for the perfect opportunity to strike. Hydras were hunters and in this area they were at their prime.

The Hydra that trailed the group was known as a Bounty Hydra, one that resembled a snake rather than a dragon, but obtained the skills of dragons which they decent from; the ability to hide their presence. The Hydra’s presence was completely hidden from those who were not of the proper skill level and would only reveal itself when it was ready to strike. To the naked eye it was invisible, even to exorcist. Following the group the trees ruffled as if the wind blew through them but more naga just slithered out of them or fell to the ground running from the hydra. The skill was known as Presence Concealment, it wasn’t a rare skill at all but most Exwires weren’t taught about it so it would come as a shock to most people if it’s their first time dealing with a Hydra. Unlike Naga and Drakon Hydra, the Bounty Hydra couldn’t speak in human tongue, but its thoughts registered like speaking in the hearts of demons and the minds of Tamers. The Hydra was full of ill intent. The words echoed through the trees as if they were speaking to the two demons in the group and the tamers. ”Give it to me…give it to me…give it back…give it to me..”

The voice was faint, it sounded like a man almost but it also sounded like a woman, the sound of heavy breathing with each break in statement came from the creature as it moved closer and closer to the group making the voice louder. ”I’ll rip you…let me rip you…let me eat you…let me devour you…let me destroy you….” the sounds of the words got louder and closer as time went on until it sounded as if the creature had completely circled the group. The Hydra wasn’t ready to strike yet, but it was bating its targets. Looking through the eyes of the hydra the exorcist were flowing with Qi and some of those were demonic in nature. ”Demon kind….traitor…traitor…traitor…you shall pay…I will devour…too…devour all …devour you…traitor…”

Victor followed the group constantly looking back and watching their rear. They had stopped once and Victor noticed that it was at a site that hinted at a path that would be lit by lanterns. He saw Ignazio take up a lantern and hand it to Homura. Victor kept his eyes out to watch behind them when he noticed motion coming from the darkness. Victor had been lighting their rear and could see serpent demons come to see what it was that was in their territory. The Naga were harmless in their small size but it was the demon's that ruled over them that were real threats. It reminded Victor of the possible Hydra that was in the forest. Once they started moving again, the Naga seemed to move around and follow them. Glancing out to the front, he could see them moving forward, just in front of them as if guarding or escorting them. It was a strange thing to see but perhaps they knew that they wouldn't be a match for the Exorcists. As time went on, things began to get dreary and Victor almost wished something would come at them. It seemed all too docile in the forest at that time when it should have been the demon's prime time for activity. Before long, Victor began to hear rustling in the tress above, behind them. It was as if the wind was passing through but Victor knew well enough that there was no wind in The Forest of Screams. Suddenly, Naga began to drop from the trees and began slithering their way past the group with haste as if running from something. Victor held up the rear with vigilance but removed his combat knife from it's sheath. Something was coming and the forest knew it.

Walking around the side of the forest ((Meaning on the outside)) he stopped and sat down right in front of it. "How could i get threw a barrier." He then sat down and continued to think. he was drawing blanks in his mind. "Hmmmm..... i could sure use help right now. he walked up to it. slowly putting his hand towards it to see what he's dealing with. kind of startled, he was thinking about what could happen when he touches the barrier.

Once Jun’s hand touched the invisible force which was the barrier around the forest, the barrier became visible, it was large and engulfed the entire forest. Crimson in color covered in golden glyphs that circled the whole barrier. The glyphs that were created were written in an advanced formation that a Page wouldn’t and shouldn’t be able to understand unless they were beyond their years at the academy or have training through a family of nobles that practiced such advance work. The glyphs that were around the barrier began to rotate as they formed a large glyph facing Jun waiting a few seconds to process the Qi that it took from his body from a single touch. This defense precaution was created by the group that went into the forest not too long ago in order to complete their exam. There was no reason that a Page should have been going there unless they were taking Advance Demonology and for them to go alone was already suicidal. The rules state that pages were not allowed to enter The Forest of Screams. The barrier had its own defense against those who tried to enter the forest without permission from a higher instructor at the academy when they were at the rank of page. Due to Jun’s hand being connected to the barrier it released a five thousand voltage surge of electricity into his body. Five thousand volts of electricity was enough to kill a normal man, but because he was an Exorcist he might not get killed from a shock like that unless he kept contact to the barrier after the initial shock but his nerves would suffer damage causing paralysis in the hand up to the shoulder making the arm completely useless.

The academy was serious on keeping everyone out of the forest for multiple reasons, one of the reasons being it was a testing ground for Exorcist, the other reason was because of the demons that harbored the forest and if a normal human entered the forest they would be killed instantly. If the miasma didn’t kill the human from breathing it in then the demons would. Asides from the electric shock that was given off from the barrier’s original defense the additional change that Ignazio made in the glyph structure while the group was trying to bypass the defenses the barrier without breaking the seal and being caught in any defensives spells or countermeasures activated. The golden barrier turned purple and a large stream of the miasma covered the land as it spewed out of the barrier like sweat from a track runner. The miasma was a thick purple fog that began to melt everything that it touched, the plants were the first to fill the effect after the snow melted under the disintegrating force. The miasma was created by the Guardian of the Forest, clearly a demon of Rot, as it killed everything that touched the smoke. Breathing in the gas without a proper antidote would kill the target instantly. The gas came gushing from the glyph for Jun, who wouldn’t have enough time to get away and seeing how it was a gas it was already spreading through the air. Although because of this change in environment, the gas wasn’t as potent as it was within the forest. It wouldn’t take a long time to corrode through the any physical material such as clothing or skin, but once it entered the blood stream through breathing in, it would take a matter of seconds.

Doctors would be able to create an antidote or at least something to suppress the effects of the poison once it entered their body, but saving their clothes wasn’t going to happen. Arias wouldn’t be able to cast a fatal verse due to the effects of the poison effective them for speaking and taking in too much of the gas, those aria that were able to cast a barrier wouldn’t be able to hold the barrier and cast a fatal verse, without knowing the cause of the miasma and without knowing the cause of the miasma the fatal verse would be ineffective. Other meisters at the rank of Page wouldn’t last a second in these conditions. After a shock and then a wave of poisonous gas, it would be nearly impossible for a page such as Jun to survive. If he managed to survive something like this, he would need to seek medical attention immediately in order to stop the poison from reaching his lungs or his heart and cause his death.

The Tamer looked over to Victor and sighed and started to say something to Victor about his knife until a Naga landed on his shoulder from the tree above. The young ‘King’ freaked out like a little girl of sorts screaming and running between the group members until he managed to get the snake off of him. Ignazio breathed heavily as he placed his hands on to his knees and noticed he was hiding behind Audrianna. He looked up at the girl and then regained his composure and fixed his tie before moving back into formation. He noticed that he had dropped the paper lantern in his unnatural looking panic and that it managed to roll over to Alexandria. Ignazio stood in his position at the head of the group and cleared his throat. ”Victor, chill back there. I really don’t think you need to be on guard yet. It’s a hibernation season, even with the temperature being controlled due to the barrier the Demons here are still crossbred with animals and have hibernation. So we should be able to rest easy until we reach the lake. Besides if we get there and nothing comes at us, we might be able to call this an easy A.” he spoke proudly as if he didn’t just run around the group like a chicken with its head cut off. Ignazio really hated snakes, he didn’t mind working with them from a distance and found them to be interesting, but to touch one or have on too close to him, Ignazio would react in the same fear that he gained when he was around other snake like creatures, like eels. He also didn’t like spiders; as long as they didn’t have to fight a Spider Demon Ignazio would be okay, seeing how his number one fear on the planet were spiders while Snakes were like his number four.

Ignazio stopped talking as his eyes shifted around as his ears slightly twitched at the sound of a voice. He straightened his back and looked around slowly shifting his eyes in order to keep it a slight secret from the group that he heard something or someone speaking out to him. He looked at Audrianna and then Homura to see if they heard the same voice. The looked back at the darkness that was around them; whatever was lurking was looking for something and was targeting either them or something else. Ignazio wasn’t entirely sure about this. He actually started to shake a little in his hands but clinched his fist in order to control the fear that was coming about him. ”You’re a member of the Barthomeloi Family, fear is not an option we obtain, we relinquish fear and welcome the unknown and conquer all without fail. This is the way of the Barthomeloi.” Ignazoi began to give himself a pep talk until he calmed his nerves down to a controllable level where he could unclench his fist. Although a light came from above, it was gold in color and then the light penetrated the darkness rapidly before fading. Ignazio turned and faced the rear of the group in the direction they came from. ”Someone’s trying to enter the barrier. Good thing, I add a little something to defenses, but that doesn’t mean we should slack off, that could be our competition….or a teacher. Either way, I have a quick question Alexandria, out of curiosity, is Miasma flammable? ” Ignazio asked as he looked at the Knight with a smile on his face.
