“Uh huh.” As much as he had been tempted to watch her struggle with climbing up on the stool Tryce had no patience for it. So he had hefted her without warning. Her ability to climb down, however, would be tested later as he planned to let her have her way then. His back had barely been turned away for a moment before he turned back to seeing the plate being quickly cleared.

Placing an elbow on the counter he leaned towards her, “Hey. If you eat to quickly you’ll get sick. That food isn’t going to fly away now so calm down, kid.” Resting his head in his hand he pushed the glass of water towards her, “Water will be fine for you since you already jumped into your plate.” Sheesh, here he had been waiting on her…and then the food was just gone into her mouth already!

Secretly he may have been a bit relieved at the fact that she was eating his food so eagerly. It must have turned out well then. Still he was protesting her eagerness to just jump into eating without any patience, “You know in most places it’s a courtesy to wait though I’ll let it slide this time.” Since he had given her his water the teen opened the fridge again and poured himself a glass of wine. No point in holding back. Tilting the cold glass against his lips the umbreon took a drink before looking back to his own plate of French toast. Slowly he took a fork and cut into it, ate a bite, then sneaked his second piece to Truffle’s plate. Without saying another word he went back to finishing the rest of his own food and threw the clean plate into the dishwasher.

Quietly he returned to the opposite side of the counter and sat quietly watching Truffles with faint amusement to wait and see what she would do.

Blinking obliviously, Truffles gave Tryce a confused look. Eating too fast could make her sick? ....This must be another tease, like the cursed package. As soon as the glass of water was received, half of that was gone in a flash as well. Waste not, want not.

Looking over to Tryce's plate, the child snorted lightly. "You're just goin' too slow," she retorted, reaching for the cup for another drink. When she looked at her plate again... there was another piece of toast. She glanced over at Tryce, then over to the warm stove, and back to the plate. Had he done that, or had she just been that oblivious? "Hey. Um... Thanks for feeding me, and stuff," she murmured softly before stuffing her mouth again with the soaking bread. It was really hitting the spot. She couldn't remember being this comfortable since she'd grown like this...

"Didja get that package thing delivered?" She had no concept of how long she'd been knocked out. She still didn't know Tryce had really been the one to save her. She assumed he'd passed by her while someone had been carrying her to the medical clinic or something, and had chosen to take care of her himself for whatever reason. Probably just to tease her more...

Tryce just shook his head sadly, “Don’t blame me then when you’re having cramps later.” As he started to clean up the kitchen the umbreon shrugged at her thanks, “It was no problem, kid. Sometimes it’s nice to have someone to cook for. Just another one of my many skills after all~” Tossing the towl into the sink Tryce turned back around at her question and a mischievous expression crossed his features. Honestly he had forgotten about her present with the rush of dragging her out of that place and the bag was hidden in a drawer in the living room.

“Package thing?” Tryce raised an eyebrow at her, “It might have been, but today’s been so long that my memory is rusty.” Faking a yawn the umbreon stretched slowly, “Feel free to do as you please as long as you don't poke around too much and stay in these two open rooms. I have the couch made up in the front room for you now that you’re conscious.” He reached over on the counter and picking up a candy bar dropped it in front of her, “I hear candy is good for regaining energy as well.”

“As it is I’m going to take my time in the bath and you can get ready to rest for the night. Close to bedtime for a kid like you correct?” Without another word he bounced away and disappeared into his bedroom, leaving that door open he entered the bathroom and frowned at the clothes left in the bathtub. Setting his glass of wine down on the vanity Tryce picked up the soaked clothes and studied them. They seemed pretty worn…the life that this kid had really was starting to bother him. Sighing the umbreon set them in the sink for the time being before turning his attention back on starting his own bath.

"You're the only cramp I got," she shot back. His elusive answer was so frustrating to the curiosity of her child's mind. He was so evil...

She gave the candy a long look before picking it up and sniffing it curiously. Had he drugged it or something? She growled at the implication that she had a bed time like some baby, but the thought did sink her a little lower. "Bed times are for people with jobs," she muttered sourly. Skeleton man was dead... She didn't have a job anymore. She couldn't even go back if someone else took over there. Stupid electrical guy.

Now was time to climb of the stool... She turned multiple times before deciding on the best angle for clinging to the counter top and slipping down to land on her good leg. The bruise on her other leg was spreading, and covered most of the side of her leg at and below her knee. Stupid boulder head. Stupid Skeleton man. Stupid everyone!

She limped out to the main room, and headed over to the couch. She finished off the candy bar, looking around the room. If she wasn't in such a gimpy state, she would have been in all the drawers by now... Instead, she stretched out on the cushions and closed her eyes. Amazingly, she was asleep within moments.

She didn't get to sleep long though. Her dreams were a plague... The electric man in a sharp suit... Skeleton man with his eyes melting... Huge rocks crashing down around her... Electric man pointing at her, and a shock of lightning sparking at the tip of his finger... Truffles sat up straight, gasping for air in a panic as she fought with the unfamiliar blankets that had already tangled around her in such a short time. "Aatami!!" She couldn't get out! She was trapped! Electric man would get her! "Aatami!!"

Watching the wine swish around in the glass Tryce thought carefully about Truffle’s words. Bed times were only for those with jobs? He smirked in amusement, “She wouldn’t want my job I suppose.” Still there had to be someway…someone he knew. Immediately the umbreon thought of the warm faced whimsicott he had befriended a long time ago…when they were both children. Tryce still owed that pokémon trainer a debt for her help. Sighing he pushed back deeper into the water. Would that guy be okay with taking on a kid like that? It wasn’t his place though. Closing his eyes the teen just blew out a steam of bubbles in the water before just closing his eyes and letting his tired body soak up the water’s heat.

It was later once he was finished with his bath that the umbreon couldn’t resist taking a peek into the front room. Was she really out already? “And here I was expecting more trouble.” Smiling Tryce tucked a stray piece of her hair away and fixed the blanket lying over her, “Good night kid.” Turning away from her he went to lay down in his own bed. Instead he stared at the flashing cellphone and rejecting the calls sent out texts instead, not tonight. He was not about to leave the eevee here alone. Even if the place was new and supposed to be safe he felt wary. What if she needed him?

As if on cue Tryce bolted from the bedroom once he heard the scream, “Hey!” Jumping over a table he landed neatly next to the couch and bent down to look at Truffles, “Are you alright?” His gaze softened as he placed a hand on her shoulder, “Look at me…it was a dream. You had a nightmare, kid.” He could only begin to imagine what it was about. His gaze flickered with mixed emotions as he remembered the first death he had seen. Though that time the knife had been in his own hands…Tryce shook his head and focused on the girl in front of him, “Breathe okay? It’s alright, everything is alright. You're safe.”

No! No! Someone had her! Someone had-! ..Tryce? Wide eyes adjusted and focused to finally land on the shining umbreon, his gentle glow like a guiding light. That's right... She was in his place. She... was safe here... right?

She couldn't hold it back now though. Try as she might, her terror in the nightmare had been too real. Eyes overflowing, she reached out to wrap her arms around Tryce's neck and buried herself against his chest, sobbing loudly and body trembling as what she'd held onto throughout the evening released. Why had that man killed her boss? Why was he after her? Why was it so hard? How was it going to be alright?

Expecting a smart comment or some excuse to her nightmares Tryce was actually shocked by Truffle’s actions. The umbreon allowed her to cling to him and instead wrapped his arms around her and pulled her down into his lap comfortingly. His long legs were like a barrier against the darkness of the night and his markings glowed faintly like a guiding light, “It’s alright Truffles.” He whispered quietly, “It’ll be alright, I promise.”

Rubbing her back Tryce just waited until she was finished crying. He had wondered how long it would take for the shock to finally wear off. His gaze softened as he looked down at the eevee he was holding. This girl should have never been exposed to such a scene and definitely should not be haunted by such a terror. The umbreon wished he had ripped her from that place the first moment he had seen her there. He had known it was trouble in that area, but he had never expected Truffles to be nearly pulled into something so dangerous. I’m so sorry.

Tryce sighed softly as he rubbed the girl’s back comfortingly. It would be okay, that he would make certain of for her.

It was a long while before Truffles could manage a decent breath of air. For the time being, she didn't have the energy to be upset that Tryce was comforting her. As appalled as she was with how she'd broken down in front of him... she was silently grateful that he was there. Besides, this would be the only time. Never again!

Subdued crying made her gasp in little fits as she started to calm again, and her ears pinned tight to her head. "If- you tell- Aatami- or- anyone- 'bout this- I'll- break- your- nose," she stuttered out, keeping her head tucked firmly under Tryce's chin.

Thankful that she had finally calmed down Tryce only smiled, “I’m rather fond of my nose so I better not do that then.” Squeezing her tightly for a brief moment the umbreon scooted away from her, “Come on then. You’ll not be able to sleep like this tonight.” He reached down and as usual just picked her up in his arms, “No protesting either. I’m exhausted and you must be as well.” Quietly he walked through the room and into the bedroom where he set her back down on the bed. The normal teasing was even cut off as he handed her a small glass, “Drink this.”

He grinned teasingly, “I know it might be strange, but it’ll help you sleep.” His gaze was indeed sincere as he handed her the mostly empty glass. He had only poured a little bit, just enough to help her to sleep. Doing that Tryce arranged the blankets and made a pillow barrier in the middle of the bed, “You can cuddle a pillow if you get scared again, but I’ll be right here for you.” Without another word the umbreon quietly stretched back out on the bed and turning on his side made certain to give the eevee plenty of room so that she would be comfortable.

Then after a faint second Tryce spoke once more, “Truffles…don’t worry. I’ll be here for you. So sleep well, okay?”

A tiny huff was all she could manage to laugh. As much as she wanted to protest; as much as she wanted to just go home; she didn't have the energy. The bath and the meal had been refreshing, but the strain of the day was too much for her.

She looked blankly at the offered glass. She wasn't sure she wanted to go back to sleep... She drank it anyway though, wrinkling her nose at the odd taste. The soothing glow of Tyrce's skin, the soft bed, and the effects of the drink all encouraged her to lie down. Snarky comments about how close Tryce was flew through her mind briefly, but nothing came out. ...Instead, she scooted as close against the pillow barrier as she could, hoping Tryce wouldn't notice, and curled up into a ball. "Okay.." she whispered, eyes closing as she eased into a deeper sleep than before.
