"It was a first try," Al whined, "I'll get better. I promise." He smiled at Jordan feebly. It wasn't a lie, Al really did need practice somehow and unfortunately it did not work out so well this time. "I need to work on my hiccoughs too."

"No more practice in the womens' locker rooms." Jordan was going to close that particular loophole right now. There were probably other loopholes, but Al would have to be a lot more clever about it if he was going to take that route. Jordan raised an eyebrow. "That's how you got caught, huh?"

Jordan nodded. "If you're going to be hiding from someone or something, don't assume you're going to be able to stay quiet. s**t like that happens. Or, hell, your phone rings, or some other stupid little thing you didn't think of gives you away. Have a backup plan," he said. "And be aware that sometimes your safest option is surrendering."

Al bobbed his head along as he mentally took notes of where he had gone wrong in this. He wanted to thank Jordan, but was uncertain how suspicious he might become being thanked for these kinds of suggestions. "I'll remember for.. uh.. missions n' stuff."

"And stuff," Jordan said with a quirk of a smile. "Just don't get yourself killed practicing. Seriously, though, if you're intending to stay in Death you really need to practice keeping your motivations hidden a little better."

Al tilted his head to the side trying to look as innocent as possible, "I promised, didn't I?" His voice was soft and a little bit squeaky like a small innocent child. Which he wasn't.

Jordan raised an eyebrow at Al. "That'd work better if I didn't already know you." He chuckled. "But it's a good try anyway. Get the eyes a little wider and don't squinch them at the outside corners, it'll add to the effect."

Al did this and then curled the edges of his mouth juuuust a bit more until he looked like someone just shot his dog and made him watch.
Then stopped suddenly. "Better?"

"Much. Practice it in the mirror. Don't overdo it," Jordan warned. "Save it for dire situations. Overacting will get you in trouble too." He sipped his coffee and contemplated Al, his look sharpening.

Al wiggled just a bit at Jordan's approval before taking another slurp of coffee and then sticking his spoon in the mug to scrape the remaining bits of chocolate that didn't quite mix into his mouth. Tasty.
He then noticed Jordan watching a bit too long and looked nervous. Smiling awkwardly.

"You should observe people more closely," Jordan suggested. "It'll help you when you're gathering information as well as helping you figure out how not to give yourself away when you're trying to be sneaky." He gestured with his coffee mug. "Me looking at you is making you uncomfortable right now. How do I know? You changed the way you're standing when you noticed, your eyebrows squinched a bit, and your smile's too tight to be a natural, friendly smile."

Al stared at Jordan as if he just discovered a side to him he never knew existed. "How do... ... wow." It was true. He pouted openly about being so easy but unable to reciprocate.

Al nodded obediently before suddenly looking a little bit too thoughtful. "Think you can like... take me people watching? Just to like, teach me how?" His eyebrows gathered up high on his forehead with a hopeful look.
